Is It REALLY Almost Over?!!

Yes folks, I'm afraid it really is. The summer is really over! Fall is here, and winter is just around the corner.I can feel it in the air....and see it all around my backyard. Everything around here is either dead or dying...and 'it ain't pretty'!!
In fact, it's just sad. :-( ...I can't take it!! I want to remember the peace, tranquility, and beauty of my backyard. Not look at it flopping over in sad defeat! So, I decided to take a trip down memory road. Come with me. You don't even need your seat belt for this ride!
If you've been reading this blog before you may remember these ↓
These were some of the beautiful flowers in my backyard this past summer. So peaceful. So alive. So fitting my personality right now. :-) But when I look out the window?!
During the heat waves and the unbearableness of the summer humidity that we were complaining about, the backyard still looked like this ↓
Even the trees and bushes around the neighborhood looked decked out in beauty and ready to sing!
Okay....so they still don't look so bad. Hubby took this picture yesterday ↓
Even when they're on their last leg of the season...so to speak...they still look pretty good! Better than me!! At least they're hair isn't in wet braids all over their head like mine are!! LOL
Are you tired of the dead leaves, rotten spots on everything, the drooped over "just-let-me-lay-here-and-die!" affect the flowers and plants are putting off?!
Well, if you are, it's a good thing we have good memories...
...and good photos!! And........Blog archives too! Remember THIS post, the one that went with this photo?! ↓
And the follow up post too?!.....Maybe somethings should just be left as a memory...in the beauty of a photo. So I think I will.
Have a good rest of the weekend everyone!! I'll be picking the winner of the afghan Giveaway in the morning, so today is your last chance to comment and get your name in the box! I'll post the name of the winner tomorrow! :-)

Summer Is The Sun

Summer is the sun
that makes the sweat down your face run,
when you're having so much fun.
Now the school year is all done;
Your 'Playing' homework has begun.

Summer is the sun,
when your vacation web is spun,
and all your money is down to none.
A dollar bill-you've got just one.
That there's no cash is quite a stun.
But Oh! The memories that were won,
because summer is the sun.

  1. It did seem to end suddenly! Now we get to snuggle up and turn inward and view your colorful creations as they take over for the lack of color outside! Don't despair - it'll all be back next year!

Some of you pics looks like my neighbourhood at present. And yet we are in spring! The climate here is so wacky at the moment. We have such warm weather. I have a lily flowering that looks just like yours!

  7. Michele, Ha! Ha! That's why I love Spring and Summer so much! The flowers are so beautiful! I'm glad I still have these pictures to look at or the chill and dying leaves would be unbearable...I wish I could see your lily! :-)

  9. I wont say that i don't like winter because it will get me depressed. I love it when it's a white winter, without snow it's muddy and dark and that is what i don't like. It's not so bad at the moment because there hasn't been much of rain, only a little and I'm actually hoping that we will get the snow again soon. Since we already had little bit i think it won't be long for some more. That way it's light all the time and makes you want to wait for Christmas and lifts up the mood. Otherwise it's dark and gloomy all the time.
Loooove the pics of the blossoming pink cherry tree! I'm guessing it's cherry, or is it apple? Gorgeous! And you flowers are beautiful too! Still wishing for those sunflower seeds next year :P

  10. Mariann, I have to see, I'm with you about how pretty the snow is when it first falls. But when people have walked on it or cars have driven on it....YUCK!!! I'm looking forward to taking pictures of the snow covered backyard though! :-)... And the tree is a cherry blossom. Beautiful when it's in bloom, isn't it?!
