Good Thing There's Something Else To Look At In The World Than Hats!!

                                 {Mariann Rea of littlefoxphotos}

     I am so glad that there are great photographers, beautiful crafters, and artists with an eye for beauty.  Sometimes you need to just have appreciation for what other people can do. Why am I saying this?! Because, number one, no matter how many photos I look at that certain photographers have done...photographers like Mariann...I'm just in awe of how amazing their eye is to know how, and what, to capture through their lens!...And two, my picture taking sometimes is just a MESS!!! Just like my idea of a good crochet project!!
   Case in point, I finished this black and red scarf last week sometime...
    ...and I love it! So I decided to crochet a kind of matching pull-on hat to go with it. Good idea...in theory! :-))  Before I show you my MESS, I better show you some more beauty! :-)
                                {By Kerri, on the blog A Little Piece of Me}

     Okay, deep breath....So, I had good intentions with my hat. I used the same 3 yarns as in the scarf: Caron Simply Soft in Black and in Red, and another soft fuzzy red shade, used as an accent. But when I finished with it....YUCK!!
      I was so disgusted with it that I decided that it at least needed some kind of focal point that would make it funky enough for 'individualist type people' to be attracted to it. {You know, the kind of people who go shopping and see all of the beautifully stitched, perfectly colored, hats and accessories......and run in the opposite direction!! LOL} So, I crocheted a band around the bottom.
    Now "I" want to run in the opposite direction!!! LOL...Time to look at some more beauty.....quick!!!!!

   Ooooooo!....Awwwww!..... *sigh*...I had such high hopes for my little "Warm, but ugly" {Wuglyee} Scarf and Hat set. Now I just have a MESS! And what am I going to do with this piece of a MESS of a hat...that, by the way, looks a little better from a distance....sitting on a shelf?!
    I DON'T KNOW what I'm going to do with it!! I'm open to suggestions. Right now Shequita {Shi-quee-tah,...hubby's name for the head model now}, is wearing it. And unless I get some kind of better suggestion, it may just become Shequita's constant wardrobe!! :-)) Hey, Shequita doesn't care if she's wearing a MESS on her head. I mean where's she going?! UGH! Typical start to a Monday, huh?! :-)
                                {From Alishbas Art Gallery blog, entitled Sadness}

     Other than my bad crocheting experience with the hat though, my weekend was pretty good. No snow made a showing, although it was pretty cold!...Hubby got a nice haircut. {So good, in fact, that he's now considering whether he should just go bald the next time!!...His close cut revealed some blank spaces in the back that he wasn't aware were there! { I was....Shhhhhh! :-) }
     ...Had a very good meeting on Sunday. Learned in a deeper way how I can have the 'mind of Jehovah God'...And had a girlfriend come by to help us get our paperwork together so we can start thinking about whether we need to sue the pants off of some Insurance companies and care providers!! (Good thing she helped too! Just looking at it got me mad all over again!!) She was very methodical and calming about it all. She's been down this road a few times!! {I love having so many friends. They each fill a different need. It's like having a "car in every garage and a chicken in every pot!!"...so to speak! LOL}
    Today, after I get some studying done, I'm going to work on that new slipper/shoe pattern I got! Just what I need to do...get away from the head, with ugly hats, and start working on something for the feet! Let's hope I don't end up with another MESS!!! ^_^

Balance

You teeter totter, in the middle,
Lean a little, OOPS! You're off!
Now you know that you're not balanced,
and you hope the ground is soft.

It's not easy to achieve,
and once you have it, to maintain.
In almost every part of life
our balance is so hard to gain.

You have to balance your emotions,
how you eat, and how you spend.
And when you're balancing your checkbook,
try to keep a level grin.

Staying somewhere in the middle
takes a conscious, careful touch,
because it doesn't take a lot
to go from balanced to 'too much'!

So try to keep a balanced eye,
 a balanced plate, and balanced life.
Keep your feelings all in check,
and minimize the stress and strife.

And don't compare your sense of balance
 to your neighbor's...you're alone.
Because your neighbor's also trying
to get some balance of his own!

  1. Great poem! Balance is something I'm ALWAYS working on! Yes, that WT was a great one yesterday! Another thing I'm ALWAYS working on, of course. Getting Jehovah's mind in things takes a LOT of work.
    You're probably wondering what I think of your new hat. I love the style! The band at the bottom is an excellent idea! I also love the variety of colors in it! Not sure about the orangy color, but I think someone is going to fall in love with it cuz its different!
    I can't wait to see your slippers. I have a pattern for knitted slippers that I haven't tried yet. I will....one day.
    Have a wonderful day my friend and sister!

    LOL - The back-and-forth between the beautiful and the "ugly" in this post absolutely cracked me up! I'm sure your hat will find a home eventually - You may want to try and list it on Etsy anyway, you never know what kind of buyer might pop by and see such a goofy hat and want to buy it! But for now - Shequita is looking pretty sassy in it :P

  3. CinLynn, Ha! Ha! Bead.....there's NO orange in the hat what-so-ever!!! That's just my photography!!!! ^_^ It's a scarlet red with a maroon type red fuzzy red. UGH! Now youknow what I mean about a MESS!!!...Thanks for the nice words on the poem though. And I hope you're right about someone liking that hat...that is, if I ever list it!! ^_^

  4. whatnomints, Ha! Ha! i think you're right about Shequita...but I'm not sure I have the nerve to list it!!! How could I sit with a straight face and write the description in such a way that doesn't send people running from their computer screens!!! LOL Thanks for the comment though. Had me laughing too!

  5. I do the same with jewelry designs...and then go "Ugh!" It sure makes us appreciate the ones that come out great, though. :-)

  7. I think the style is great and truthfully, I must be the crazy one who would actually try it on! Why do I see some movie star person with this hat on and suddenly you are famous for your scarves, hats, blankets, and to top it off, poetry! Then you go on and get on the View and Whoopie loves your stuff and now you are famous, rich and in demand all over the fashion world...Ok, a girl can dream and frankly, you can do it! Have a great week!

  8. yaya, Ha! Ha! Ha! Me and you have the same dream!!! I think that makes both of us "the crazy one"!! ^_^ Rest assured though, that if I go on to become famous for my crocheted scarves, hats and blankets and even my poetry, and I end up on "The View" and Whoopee asks me how did I get my start....I won't forget the "little people" who helped to make it all possible...like you!! *ROFL* Ha! Ha! Ha! ^_^

  9. Thank you for the Norway photo feature! :)

    I think the hat looks pretty but it would look better if it only had 2 colours. I mean there should be black and red OR black and that fuzzy red. But I also agree with whatnomints that you should list it in etsy.
