Chocolates and a Movie Day!!

"I'm not gonna do it!!" I'm not going to spend all day today complaining about the weather. About the cloudy skies, and snow flurries. About the ice and cold chill. "I'm not gonna do it!!"...So, I have to keep my head down.
And what's the best way to keep your head down, when you're trying to distract yourself?!...Chocolates!!!.....And a good movie!!! :-)...Now, 'right off the bat' let me say that I know that everybody doesn't have the same taste as me in chocolates OR movies! So, this is not the recommendations of someone with their 'nose in the air', who thinks she knows what's best for you to watch! This post is about what I like!!! But isn't it always?! ^_^
I'm gonna share 4 of my favorite movies. And first, 'hands down', will be the chocolate inspired Bringing Up Baby!
The chocolate that best describes this movie is Snickers!! LOL...
...Because...and trust me on this one!...you'll be snickering with laughter the whole way through!! Just like the inside of this candy bar,...which consists of peanut nougat topped with roasted peanuts and caramel, enrobed in milk chocolate,...
...this movie will keep uncovering new things to laugh at, while you try to stop from laughing out loud and missing something! ^_^
It's what they call a screwball comedy. It's about a scientist that winds up in various predicaments involving a woman who has a unique sense of logic and a leopard named BABY! If you like to see Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant together, you'll love, love, love this one!!
On a more serious, and thought-provoking note, is a movie I saw many, many years ago for the first time, and who knows how many times since then! It's called Imitation of Life.
The chocolate that fits this one is the Zero.
Not because it has Zero appeal or anything, but, in my opinion, one of the characters shows a zero sense of integrity and respect!...The movie is set in the 1950s and 60s, and is about two strong woman, both widowers, one white, the other black. And for the sake of circumstances, the black one becomes servant...kinda/sorta, to the white woman). They both have daughters. And the plot is moved by the plight of the black mother whose daughter can "pass" for being white...and wants to...at all costs!!
The actors you may know in this one are Lana Turner and Sandra Dee. After you see it, you'll also remember the performance of Juanita Moore. ..If you haven't seen it before, I hope you like a tear-jerker! And if you like to talk to your screen during movies...get ready to do it with this movie!! :-))
Next is another 'Oldie, but Goodie'!! It's The Old Maid, with Bette Davis.
The candy that fits this one is the Baby Ruth.
The reason it fits is because it's full of lumps of peanuts, representing the lumps you're gonna want to put on SOMEBODY'S head when you watch it! LOL And the baby...Oh yes! There's surprisingly a baby!!...I'm not saying anything else! It might spoil it for you! :-)
And last for today, but certainly not least, is the movie The Mirror Has Two Faces, with Barbara Streisand and Jeff Bridges!!
The candy that matches it, bite for bite, is my beloved Russell Stover's!!
And while you all know how much I love my box of 'Nutty, chewy, crunchy' Russell Stover's, {that's what I call them anyway! ^_^}, I found out that they have a new box!!! They're peanut butter delights! Peanut butter and milk chocolate...together!! YUM!
The 'Newer' movie, The Mirror Has Two Faces, that fits this also has some yum! It's a love story! Well, it's a love story that doesn't start off looking much like a love story...It's about a homely {supposedly not very attractive} woman who ends up married to a man who wrote an ad for a wife, with friendship ONLY as the marriage rules!
There's a couple of sections that made me a bit uncomfortable. But what movie doesn't nowadays! Especially for a girl like me who LOVES an old classic!! But the story line is so intriguing, and the acting by Barbara and Jeff AND Lauren Bacall is so good that I think it's worth a go!! You have to decide for yourself.
It's the kind of movie though, that had me laughing one minute, crying the next, and singing and dancing at the end!! Can you ask much more from a movie?!! ^_^
    So, if the weather is trying to get to you, or you're just sitting around with nothing to do today...except crochet....like me!...Rent, buy, or find online, one of these movies and take a look!!! {And please let me know what you thought! :-)}
Yep! Chocolate poem coming up!!...Have a good day everybody!! :-)

Chocolate

A snow storm on the way,
finding out you're hard in debt.
Somehow it's not so bad,
if you have melted chocolate!

Bad news everywhere,
want to throw your T.V. set.
Thankfully there's music
and some deep dark chocolate!

Doggie had an accident,
another long trip to the vet.
A waiting room with lots to read,
but you can nibble chocolate.

Grocery shopping too.
While you run in their to get
dinner for the evening
you can grab some chocolate!

Okay, you know what's coming.
Are you sick of this poem yet?!
If you are, just roll your eyes,
and sit and eat some chocolate!
