Wicky Wacky, Mitchy Matchy...and a Giveaway!

Some of you bloggers are finding wonderful things to do on your weekends. Ottos mom and dad, from the blog TidbitsParenting,  took him to the Oregon coast for a little day out at the beach last weekend! (in the header photo)...And except for the fact that mom was having a little 'pre-gall stone attack' situation going on, and the weather was freezing cold and windy, it was a great day!! ^_^
Joyce, of the blog A Perfect Beginning, while in Wisconsin, went to a Fish Boil! And not only did they eat good there, but they enjoyed beautiful sunsets too!
What did I do with my weekend you ask?!....I paid some bills, watched some old movies, did some reading (magazines...my latest book selection wasn't at the library), cleared out some leftovers from the fridge...Yeah! I ate it, okay!! ^_^...and I made up my own yarn material for my latest crochet project!
I had some bits and pieces of threads just hanging around in a bag, and I was determined that they were NOT going to waste!! So, as I want to make another Circle Hoodie type scarf for my Wuglyees shop, I figured  these threads would come in handy...
...black, green, gold and white (with a little gold thread running through it)...
I laid all of these threads next to each other, along with some soft, gray, 'Caron Simply Soft yarn' I've been trying to figure out what to do with....
I've done this before with a lot of my scarves in my Wuglyees shop. That's why a lot of them are 'one of a kinds'. I wouldn't be able to duplicate them if I wanted to, not knowing exactly which yarns or threads I used for which scarf! :-))
I crocheted a sample up, to see if it was gonna look okay.
And yeah, it was.......O-kay.....but it still didn't 'POP'!! It needed at least one more piece of yarn to give it some heft....But what color?!.....I tried a piece of red yarn, and crocheted up a sample piece...
I liked the colors, but I couldn't see a whole circle scarf in these colors...So, I decided to try a plain soft white yarn thread.
PERFECT!!! :-) ... All I had to do then was crochet a base piece in the right width, and get to crocheting!
You'll have to take my word for the fact that the pictures don't do it justice. It looks a lot richer and more interesting in person. Of course you'll have to take into account too that I created it, so what else would I say?!! ^_^
All weekend this is what I've been doing....
Just working away and working away!!
This is how far along it is already...
By the time I finish, who knows what all kind of colors is gonna be in here!!! ^_^ I'm just using up my leftover threads!....I ran out of the green. Now I'm crocheting a royal blue thread there instead! :-) I already decided what it's name will be when I'm done.....The 'Wicky Wacky Mitchy Matchy Thread Scarf'!! ^_^
Maybe that's why I'm having a hard time getting very many people to enter my Giveaways!! LOL Everybody knows I can crochet, but they don't know what in the world I 'will' crochet!!!! ^_^
WHATEVER People!!!! ^_^ ... Speaking of Giveaways, today is August 15th! The day for the drawing of the mid-month Giveaway is here!...I shook up the mounds and mounds of pieces of paper that I put each and every one of the entrant's names on...
...Okay, so there was only about 9 or 10 pieces of paper. ^_^ I still had to shake 'em up!!! And when I did, and then drew out the name, it was.....
...Congratulations Alittlesprite!!! Just send me an email HERE, with your address, and I'll get the pocketbook to you in the mail right away! :-)
In other quick updates, it's still raining in Massachusetts. And I mean RAINING!!! :-( We're due to get a few thunderstorms later today. It's suppose to stop raining mid-week, and then more rain at the end of the week!! Grrrr! Maybe I'd do better with things if I was a weatherman...well, weather-'girl'...instead of a crocheter/poet/blog writer!! LOL
Also, my mother-in-law is about to sell her house. Her husband went to the hospital, and then into a facility to rehab him. He's been in the facility for a while now, and has recently been diagnosed with dementia, and a few other issues. :-( My mother-in-law has been all by herself in the house now for months, except for the kids staying with her at different times.
She finally decided that it's time to get into a smaller, more secure, place. She hasn't totally given up on the idea that he may come home at some point, but she now knows that even if he does, he'll need around the clock care. And she, with her own issues to deal with, won't be able to take care of him and the house on her own...Isn't getting older fun?!....NOT!!
And in happy news, our old washing machine...the one that doesn't sing ^_^...is going to go to a new home today! A friend of ours who has been going to the laundromat, and spending ridiculous amounts of time and money there every week, is now going to have our 'baby' as a companion...for however long it lasts! :-)
It was a really reliable washing machine for us, for the most part. It was just not large enough for our needs. So, now, it'll be washing and cleaning up a storm at our friend's house!...I've never seen anyone so excited about a used washer! Well...except for us when we got it!! ^_^
Oh Yeah, one other bit of news.....there is now a 'full-on' battle going on for the hummingbird feeder!! O_0 The wasps are battling the hornets, and as of this weekend, two hummingbird are chasing and battling each other for territorial rights too!!......*shaking my head*......Whose idea was this hummingbird feeder anyway?!!....Oh yeah!
Hopefully the fighting will be over after they've all been beat to within an inch of their lives by the rain! When it stops, I'll let you know whose still got some fight in 'em...besides me that is!! ^_^

Monday, Monday, Monday

Here comes another Monday!
Your frantic work week has begun!
Say goodbye to 'Take It Easy',
and all those things you haven't done.

Four more week days are ahead,
seeming like they'll never end.
But just think, before you know it,
"weekend" will be round again.

Lift your attention, all you mothers;
Week day workers, "Out The Door!"
Time to file, and diaper babies,
walk and scrape things off the floor.

Here comes another Monday!
Whether you want it to, or not!
Say goodbye to 'Take It Easy'.
You've got things to do...a lot!

Monday, Monday, Monday!
Why do you have to come so fast?!
And you stay so long! Why can't
the weekend 'Take It Easy' last?!

Your MMBB is blending very well! It can be gray, white, black, it can go with color!

We had a bit of rain yesterday but missed what was expected to be the 'storm of the century'! Wait a sec, here come some gray clouds!!!

    Have a dry day!

  7. HazelandMare, Awwww! Thank you so much!! :-) I wish my pictures could show it better. I'm apparently a better creative crocheter than I am a photographer! ^_^

  8. Lisa, Thank you, about the scarf! And that's exactly the reason I took out the red. It limited it to what you could wear it with. It looked almost like a holiday scarf with the red in it...Be careful with that rain! It can go from damp to disastrous in a very short time!!

  9. I would like to see that birds vs bees fight! Sounds exciting! I saw a squirrels vs doves scrimmage yesterday - THAT was funny!
Your scarf will be just marvy! And weird names are the reason many people look at things! So keep it weird...do your thing and be proud!

  10. Art and Sew Forth, ^_^ Too bad I can't get enough footage of the wasps vs hummingbirds fight to charge admission!! It's kinda scary though. Already this morning my window has barely dodged a bullet...a bullet shaped like a hummingbird going 60 MPH, being chased by another hummingbird going the same speed!! LOL As to the wasps, one is holding his ground and fighting off all comers...come what may!!! ^_^ By the way, thanks for the nice words about the scarf too! :-)

  12. s + b, She is!...Just like we were when it was offered to us for a ridiculously cheap price...$100 for the washer and dryer together!!...And about Mondays, I'm not ready when it's raining cats and dogs for the umpteenth day in a row!! LOL...Hope 'you' have a good week though! :-)

  13. When I first saw the colours of the yarn you made up I wasn't sure that I liked it. Not up close any way. Then you showed the other photos where you had already started making the scarf & you're right it IS perfect. I don't know why I doubted that it would work you really do have a good eye for colour :D

  14. Jo-anne, It took me a while to figure those colors out too Jo!! ^_^ And thank you for your confidence in my 'color-picking' abilities!! :D

  19. Jimmy, Ha! Ha! Oh if only it were the hummingbirds now! My hubby thinks it's pretty funny that I got the feeder to induce calm, and now there's a full-on war going on out there between the Hatfields (wasps) and the McCoys (hummingbirds)!! ^_^ ... P.S. Tell your girlfriend to keep at it! I'd love to see what "she's" making! :-)
