Come Fly With Me!

You don't have to ask what I've been doing lately. Just look at the pile of stuff around me and you'll know...I've been crocheting like a crazy woman. Flying through projects, left and right! It's as if somebody hit a "Go!" button, dropped the checkered flag, shot off the pistol, threw up the 'jump' ball, dropped the puck in center ice, etc...I think you can see where I'm going with this, right?!!! LOL
I've been working on that crocheted pink and white frame, making headbands, crocheting flowers, sewing on buttons!...and my mind is reeling with all of the things I "want" to do next! It's kinda nice actually, to have such creative juices coursing through my veins. :-] ...Here's the latest finished project...
It fits Shequita's head perfectly, but that made me realize that I'm probably gonna have to start making them in all kinds of sizes. I could put a button or something on the back, but I have headbands like that...and after a while they start pulling at the button hole and you end up with a miss-shaped headband that's not doing it's job as well as originally intended!
I think what I may do is just make it about two or three inches smaller than the average head...about 21 inches or so (unless you have massively Sasquatch-type heads like me and hubby! LOL {He claims that I have a big head, but you should have seen when he tried on one of my headbands! Yikes! My poor headband was screaming for Mama like a baby being snatched from  the stroller by a big-headed stranger!! ^_^)...
I made it with the ridges so that it would stretch a bit...and also because I think it looks cuter than just flat stitches...
        And I put one of my new cloth buttons on the flower...the permanently attached flower. I sewed it in place on this one. I may make some without flowers, but for now it gives me a reason to go back on my 'no crochet flower making' rule. {You knew I'd find some excuse to make 'em...didn't you?! ^_^}
I don't know what's gonna be next. I'm flying through projects so fast that I''ll probably wake up one of these mornings with a pile of yarn around me, a crochet hook permanently adhered to my fist, and a nervous jutting twitch that I won't be able to get rid of! LOL
Are you a crocheter?! If so, take out your patterns and 'come fly with me'!! ^_^ ... As a side note, My friend Tammy doesn't crochet, but she knows all about flying. She's a story-teller and she recently did another portrayal of Bessie Coleman at the New England Air Museum...
She had a wide-eyed captured audience too! :-)
Do you remember being young and wide-eyed about new things you learned?! :-] ...Anyway!...Bessie Coleman is only one of the characters Tammy recreates though. Here's an interview done with her about her portrayals...

Okay...I'm off to look for something else to fly through! I hope you take out your needles and join me. We can have a 'crochet circle'...worldwide-style! :-) If you make something that you wanna share...send me a photo of it. If I get enough photos I'll do a post and show off all of our 'work in progress'. If not, at least we'll be able to share with each other, crocheters! :-)
There's only five more days until I Giveaway the scarf I already made...November 15, 2011...so if you haven't entered the Giveaway...if you're interested in the scarf I mean...don't forget to enter. The photos of the scarf and the simple rules to enter are HERE.
And lastly...before we go flying today...and I go off to finalize some 'Date Night' plans! :-)...for those of you following my hubby and I on our weekly couples blog (In The House...Mr. and Mrs. Wug), we had so much going on last week that we couldn't put enough time together to sit down and do our post. But we're hoping to get two posts up over the upcoming weekend to make up for it.  So keep an eye out...Oh Yes! We've got things to talk about!! ^_^
Okay, Have a good day everybody!!! And watch out for low-flying birds! :-)

(Michael Buble'...Come Fly With Me)

Time Goes By So Fast!

Time goes by so fast!
It seems to fly just like the wind.
Before you eat your breakfast,
seems it's yesterday again!

You visit with some friends,
go to work and cut the lawn.
Then you look up from your book
and face another fleeting dawn!

You're planning what's for dinner,
jotting down the grocery list.
You wake up from a nap,
and now you're looking at a mist!

Time goes by so fast!
It seems to fly just like the wind.
Make the most out of it,
cause it may not come again!

  3. You have been crocheting up a storm! I really like the headband! I think it may be too wide for me, but it is really pretty!!
Nice post about your friend too! She's really good at what she does!
Have fun crocheting, reading and making your plans for date night.

I can't wait to see more headbands too.

  4. CinLynn, Yes I have! LOL And I'm going to be doing some thinner ones too, by the way. I want them to be wide enough to cover the ears in the cold though. When you're walking around...door-to-door...you don't want the wind whipping at your ears! :-) ... And yes, Tammy is "Very" good at what she does!!...Have a good day, Bead! :-)

  7. Headband looks good. All my crochet supplies are still packed up I'm afraid. I don't think I could do it at the moment anyway.
    ENTER ME!

  8. Alittlesprite, Thank you for the nice words about the headbands! And no worries about the crocheting thing. I know you have a lot on your plate right now anyway. :-( You focus on 'YOU'. Let me focus on the crocheting...especially since I'm all 'about it, bout it' right now!...I hope you get through the weekend okay. Tough!
