Okay...So Here's What Happened.......

Another cog in the 'work' wheel gear has grinded to a halt...It sounds so dramatic, doesn't it?! :-)) To put it simply...hubby is out of a job...at least for a few days. Probably more...And while I should be terribly sad about it. I'm strangely relieved!
What happened was...hubby has been working ridiculously long hours at work. I'm talking 14, 15, or more hours a day! It's been really taking a toll on him. Especially because he's also my main care-giver, with all of my health issues...He's been tired. Really....EXHAUSTED! And not getting the proper amount of sleep.
As some of you know, he's been a 'snack cake man' for quite a while. It's been all over the news about the work issues his company has been going through...and he's been on the inside...so to speak...feeling the pinch!...Well, yesterday 'Pinch' came to 'push' because of an incident that happened with hubby's truck.
He forgot to put the emergency brake on his truck while he was at a stop, and it rolled into one of the store employee's cars! O_0 Nothing on the car was damaged, and she...in effect...waved him off and said everything was fine. So hubby left...Problem is that 'company policy' is that no matter whether there's damage or not, you're suppose to get info, take pictures, etc...before leaving a situation like that. Hubby, because there was no damage to her car, and because she waved him off anyway,...not to mention that he was in a hurry to get his work-load done in a reasonable hour for the day,....didn't do that. :-(
So...hubby was suspended until he meets with his job representative. He tried to call him all day yesterday, but frankly...the rep has been in deep negotiations with his company anyway...Union stuff going on!...so who knows how long this suspension is gonna be! And even after the meeting...he may be out of a job just because of the way things are looking with the company...Sooooo...anybody wanna meet my hubby at some craft shows and say hi?! ^_^
That may be the next step for us. And it may actually be an answer to some prayers, because the job has been a HUGE stress on him for quite a while. It's tough to walk away from something you're good at...and frankly, something you love to do...even when you can see it's not the best thing for you!...But when you get pushed out....Well, that's another story! LOL
Anyway....in anticipation of the fact that we're gonna need to make some money somehow, I'm in 'crochet mama' mode! Hubby may need supplies for a craft booth somewhere or something! ^_^ So yesterday I started a 'few' men's boutonnieres...

       Yellow...pink...brown...and blue!

All of the pretty colors were just calling my name!...They're kinda persistent too, because after I finished with these...Well, not finished exactly!...^_^...They still need backs and buttons and stuff sewn in...But first I had to make some other colors that were hollering: "POETESSWUGGGGGGGG!!!" LOL

      Some purple shades...

         Some orangy shades...

And a beige colored one too!...

Now, today, I've got to pick just the right buttons for them and put some finishing touches on them...including some backs!...

Hey! Somebody's gotta be working around here!! LOL...On the 'for real, for real'...as they say in the south...I might sound kinda flippant about the whole job thing. I'm not. It's just that this isn't the first time we've been in this situation, and every...time...our God has pulled us through. I'm secure in the knowledge that if this job wasn't good for us, God will help us find something that is!...Experience has proved this true EVERY TIME!
So we're gonna do all we can to keep our oars in the water...so to speak...and keep our eyes and ears open to whatever is next. And in the meantime we're gonna try to enjoy the unexpected 'virtual date night'...well...'virtual date DAYS'...lalapalooza that has dropped into our laps!! ^_^

Okay....gotta go now. SOMEBODY is gonna be making me some breakfast in bed!!...By the way, don't forget the book of poetry Giveaway!...(see the right hand sidebar.)...AND we're only one follower away from the afghan blanket Giveaway now too!! :-) Have a good day everybody!

Fishing-Life

This world is like a pond in which
you can't help but get wet.
We are like the fish snatched up
into the fisher's net.

The pond-it represents all of
our jobs and bills and debt,
that we swim in every day,
chasing the bait that's hard to get.

The world throws out a line
that we follow to the top;
Then we're pulled away from safety,
and on land we flip and flop.

Even if we get away,
we're now wounded, dry and tired,
`cause we've jumped out of the frying pan,
and now we're in the fire!

  1. I'm sorry hubby isn't working right now, but it appears that he NEEDS a bit of time off! No one should have to work such long hours!! I'm sure everything will work out for you because as you said, we have a wonderful God that wants to take care of us if we would just let him. Trust in him.
In the meantime, keep making those boutonnieres! They seem to be winners in your shop right now.
I'll keep you and your situation in my prayers too.

    1. Thanks for the encouragement, Bead. We're trying to keep our heads up and take advantage of the time. We 'do' have things we can do with the time for sure!! :-] ...And as you say, I'm still in the boutonniere making business! ^_^ Have a good day, my friend. And I'm counting on you to keep us in your prayers.

  3. I can just imagine how hubby felt at first, my hubby's car did the same thing a few years ago, rolled down a hill! It didn't hit anything though. At least your lovely hubby can have a rest and spend more time with you :)

  4. Sorry to hear about your hubby! but it might be a good thing in the long run! but how's the employment situation in the US? here in the UK it's not good - especially for the youngsters, my daughter graduated last summer and still can't find a full time permanent job!

    1. Thanks for your sympathies, Gill. And you may be right about it being for the better. Only time will tell! The employment situation here is NOT good...especially at our ages! Youngsters seem to do better finding jobs. At least in this area...Your daughter would probably be working...but who knows if it would be a job she likes! Finding a job you wanna be doing is a harder job!! :-]

  5. Im so very sorry to read your news about your husbands work, but working that amount of hours in one day isn't healthy for you thats for sure. I always belive there is a reason for everything and im sure that in the long run this will all work out for the better. Your mens button holes are great love the purple and orange ones. Stay positive, and take care both of you. dee x

    1. Thanks for the kind words, Dee. No, it's not GOOD news, but we'll get through it. I'm sure we'll be fine. We're trying not to 'sweat it'. Lots of people have been in these circumstances. We have been in this circumstance before ourselves. We're still breathing!! LOL We'll make the best of it. There's lots of things worse than a job loss that people are suffering!...And besides, I'll got my boutonnieres!! ^_^ Thanks for the nice words about them. Have a good rest of the day!

  6. Deb, sorry to hear about your husbands situation. I'm so glad that you have faith in the Lord because you know that there is a plan in all that is happening and you just have to trust in him. I will keep you two in my prayers. Great poem today. Your boutonniers are lovely. Thank you for sharing your work. Hope you have a good day.

    1. Hi Velma...Hubby and I both KNOW that God wouldn't put us in this situation. Although he is allowing it at the moment. And if he's allowing it, we also know we must be strong enough to handle it! :-] We'll trying not to take too dire a stand on it, but just keep doing what we know we're suppose to be doing. The mind, though, does have to continually be tamed! :-)) It likes wandering off into negative places every once in a while. I have to put a saddle on my brain on occasion!! LOL...I'm glad you liked the poem and my new colored boutonnieres. I finished 4 of them today!...Have a great rest of the day yourself, Vel!

    Hi Deb!

Sorry to hear about what happened. Like Claire said at least now he can get well needed rest! Also is it possible for him to go back to the store and take pictures of the car if it was one the store employees? I'm sure if he described her car someone would know who she is. Regardless....

“Happy are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.“Happy are YOU when people reproach YOU and persecute YOU and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against YOU for my sake. 12 Rejoice and leap for joy, since YOUR reward is great in the heavens; for in that way they persecuted the prophets prior to YOU." Matt 5:10,11 .
If the MARCH Campaign was Anything like it was Last Year, I guess it safe to assume were going to get Big Time persecuted so that will feel discouraged to stop.Believe me, because ours began SUNDAY NIGHT! But if we stay on Jehovah's side they WONT be able to stop us ! Who are they KIDDING???!!!

    1. Hi Liz! :-] Yes indeed! Rest will be gotten...after pounding the pavement during the day! LOL...By the way, he did go back to the store and do the whole thing yesterday. And filled out an accident report too. There was no question as to who it was. It's a store he frequents regularly. He knew her! She admitted that she waved him off!! That was never a question!...*shaking my head*...You know how things like this go!!!!!...And...Uhhh...what happened Sunday night?! O_O I'll come and message you on FB...Thanks so much for the scriptural encouragement my sister. :-]

  8. Hi Deb,

It'll work out, right?! It will!
I'm sorry, but I know something better is coming(that's is my personal way of thinking when changes happen).
Hope your husband get some rest. Send my best to him.

  9. I am so sorry to hear about hubby & his job. You're right though something will work out for you both. We never know what is just around the corner. I hope hubby gets the rest he needs.

You've been a whiz with those boutonnieres. They look fantastic. I love all the different colours you've used.

    1. Thanks for the sympathetic words, Jo. It's true that we don't know exactly what's around the corner...but we do know it'll be SOMETHING!!! LOL That's why we just take it one day at a time and lean on who we need to, to get through it...And resting in between doesn't hurt either! ^_^ ...Thanks for the nice words about the boutonnieres too. I'll show the ones I finished on the blog tomorrow!

  10. Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry about the job stress. So crazy. I hope it all comes together for you both. I know that God doesn't close a door without opening a window. So hang in there! My hubby is self employed and believe me, that can be stressful. When the economy is bad people won't (or can't) pay bills and even insurance co. hold payment back. Being a Chiropractor isn't like being a med Doc. Medical Docs can atleast join a hospital group and be an employee with a guaranteed wage. Oh well, we all need to keep your positive attitude!

    1. Thanks yaya...Crazy is right! But we're not the only people in the world dealing with craziness, so we'll just keep barreling through. Something will come up. It always does. :-]...I got your point too, that even being self-employed can be stressful...AND HOW!! In fact, people probably have more sympathy for employees rather than employers in times like these! It just goes to show that stress knows no partiality! It'll be nasty to everybody!! LOL...Head up!...Heart forward! :-)
