Anti-Grotesque and Ghoulish!

It's Monday again, and the view out my backyard window, even through all of the rain we've been getting, is just beautiful! :-) There's green, with brilliant pops of reds ad yellows everywhere!...

Considering that my viewing pleasure on Etsy has been a bit tainted lately...I'm thankful for the backyard view!...

A lot of the Etsy treasuries and hearts have been going to more ghoulish stuff lately....Blech!!...It may be the taste of a lot of people, and to each his own, but I really don't like scrolling my usual interesting, beautiful, colorful items and running into.....bleeding eyeballs, grotesque skulls, disfigured Jack-O-Lanterns and stuff like that! I'm definitely NOT into it!! Therefore, I'm gonna try to get hubby to get me more photos of things around here for a while. Just until the season of grotesque is over. ^_^
I don't want to give you the impression that EVERYTHING on Etsy is grotesque right now though. There are still some cute and fabulous items out there! I just have to do a bit more scrolling than usual...while half hiding my eyes and allaying my curiosity...."What in the world is that?!!!" O_O But I found these things!...

This is Adi's butterflies polymer clay cuff bracelet by adrianaallenllc...

In her description she says: "... I am always on a quest to create items that push the limits, that are unexpected and unusual, but that at the same time remain classically elegant and beautiful..."...I think she did exactly that with this bracelet! :-]

Another beautiful piece is this Silver Beaded Czech Glass Green Jasper Gold Teardrop Bracelet by CinLynnBoutique...

Cindy has a whole shop full of beauties like this! :-]

Then there were these cute Antique Brass Owl earrings by  littlebugjewelry...

Everything these days is owls, owls and more owls! Why not a cute pair of owls for your ears?! ^_^

And isn't this a beautiful Handwoven Canyon Scarf featuring Cotton and Multi-Öko fibers by SameheartDesigns?!...

In her description she says: "...Have you ever hiked into a canyon in the Southwest and swam in the rivers there? I have and the colors of that journey are unforgettable. They are captured here in this scarf.."...Now I wanna go to the Southwest and hike in a canyon and swim in a river! :-]

Those really are some beautiful colors! :-]

And last, but not least, the cutest little knitted baby dress ever!...by SasasHandcrafts...

I love the colors, the flowers, and the edging...

As a matter of fact, I'd like one in my size! :-)

So, see! Not a grotesque, ghoulish thing in the mix at all! :-) ...As to other news, my hubby and his brothers had another meeting last night about their mom and dad. It has gotten chillier now, and they're concerned about her being in the house alone through the winter. The whole conversation is something I have to stay out of. I'm admittedly a bit too emotional about it. I love Ma, and the whole thing is dragging a bit too long for me!
My talk (presentation at the Kingdom Hall) went great the other night! :-) After all of the preparation and practicing, it seemed to fly by so fast once I started talking....but, of course, that's usually what happens when I start talking, right?! LOL
In shop news, I sold something besides lapel pins this past weekend.....I sold two hats! :-) Apropos, I guess, considering it is getting cooler out. But I've been so zoned in on lapel pins that I might not remember how to make hats any more! O_O I'll figure it out, I'm sure. But: NOTE TO SELF: I really need to start writing more of my patterns down somewhere!
Okay, I'm off!...Please enjoy your week as it begins, and find some beauty in it......no matter how much you have to hide your eyes to do it! ^_^

Beauty

The sun is peeking through.
Its beam is flowing to the ground.
The Autumn at it's new peak,
and the leaves are fluttering down.

A baby girl's joyous laughing,
legs and arms kicking everywhere.
A mother, when she's  nursing,
playing with her baby's  hair.

The gentle rain, when falling
on a southern old tin roof.
A toddler's gap-faced grinning,
when they've  lost their first front tooth.

A man with long, bow legs,
walking slowly down the street.
A colorful spring flower,
visited by a bumble bee.

A person who is kind,
and smiles at everyone they meet.
An artist's painted picture,
with the last brush stroke complete.

An "I love you" that's said
just because they wanted to;
and the person that gives hugs
when they hear an "I love you".
(And there's  other beauty too.)

  1. It is indeed a beautiful time of year! Love all the colors! It surprises me to see so much due to the drought we had this year, but it is pretty! And early too! :p
Thank you so much for featuring my bracelet!! That's one I have reservations on. I almost didn't renew it because I'm unsure of it's appeal.
As too the goulish things on Etsy, I know what you mean!! I see so many skull beads!! I hugely dislike them! But as you, I don't like this time of year anyway and it seems that every year this holiday gets bigger and bigger. Hang in there...it'll be over in no time!
Congrats on the hat sales! Looks like you will need to get crocheting again...hats, I mean! :)

    Have a great day!

    1. Yes it is, Bead, a beautiful time of year! And the photos, unfortunately, don't do the scenes out the window justice! It's kinda breath-taking. :-] Thanks for the nice words about the hats, and it was my pleasure to say nice words about your gorgeous shop! :-) Have a good day, Cin!

    1. I can't even imagine not having the changing of the seasons! But I guess if I had that beautiful beach and water all year round.....I'd be good with it. :-)

  5. Thank you for those fall photos - I really needed those today as we are expecting another warm and humid day with temps near 90 degrees. It's October, for goodness sake!

And I'm totally with you on the grotesque - I think it's overdone as we get to Halloween. So, I'm grateful for the cute things you are showing us - I especially loved that scarf and the cuff bracelet.

And yeah for selling hats!! The cooler season has begun - so they tell me... ;-)

    Have a happy day!! Silke

    1. Ha! Ha! I'm surprised that your temperatures are still in the 90s, but I remember Georgia this time of year. It was always still warm...more summery than Fall-like. I even remember a time in my youth when a little snow falling would be an "Event"! We seldom got it when I was young...Well, enjoy it, Silke! This too shall pass! ^_^
