Back On The Horse...So To Speak!

      For a couple of weeks now....and by the way, it seems like a whole lot longer!...I haven't really had a strong desire to crochet. Well, honestly, I really haven't had a strong desire to do anything...including crochet...or stay awake! ^_^ But when the rain subsided yesterday afternoon, I suddenly wanted to crochet something! :-)
     But once you've fallen off the crochet horse...so to speak...and you have more than one crochet project looming...like a partially done rainbow blanket, and a list 'yea long' of other things you need to do, it's kinda hard to decide what side of the horse to get back up on...so to speak. LOL
    But you know me! :-] I had to get back up on the crochet horse! It's where part of my sanity is!...Gallop, gallop, gallop...crochet, crochet, crochet...hook...hoof...hook...hoof!...*insert horse nay here*... LOL...See! This is what happens when part of your sanity has been missing for a while! ^_^
      As I was saying...when the sun came out yesterday, and hubby and I came back from our 'leaf-peeping' date,  I decided to give the horse a good brushing (finger through a few thread colors), and put a light blanket on his back so that I could go for a little ride (decided which colors I would use, and set them off to the side).

       At first I just took him for a little trot...

    ...in other words, I started a few lapel pin fronts, just checking out the different colors. But before long I was at a full gallop! :-) ...

      ...and two lapel pins...with buttons!...were completely done! :-)

       Unfortunately we're due to get more rain today and tomorrow...Grrr! So I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to stay on the horse for the full ride today. But for now, I can happily say: "Giddy-Up!!" :-)
      Who knows, if I can stay on the horse, the whole barnyard may be on my next agenda!! You know those animals. They're everywhere! ^_^ ...Have a good day, Everybody!

 Animals Everywhere

There are animals everywhere,
out-numbering husbands, kids and wives.
Do you see them when you travel?
Do you have some in your lives?

The chickens in the yard
step and jut their necks in stride;
Cackling birdie conversation
as you throw seed side to side.

Horses gallop down the hill,
through the field outside the gate;
Along the beach edge of the water
their strong legs will dominate.

All their waking hours
kittens tumble, jump and leap;
Then they curl up anywhere,
purr and breathe a peaceful sleep.

Baby chicks will follow
right behind their Mama's wings.
But they sometimes get distracted,
and their Mama's "Cluck!" then rings.

Doggies know their station.
They're secure in who they are.
They unguardedly will love you.
Just as quick, they'll chase a car.

There's many things that we can learn
by just watching what they do.
But let's not imitate their aggression,
and their need to balk and chew.

Let's recognize where we're alike.
Both of our constant needs for love,
And there is food, shelter, attention,
and much more we could speak of.

Yes, there are animals everywhere,
out-numbering husbands, kids and wives.
Giving lessons by example,
and so much meaning to our lives.

  1. It IS hard to get back to the things we do and love after a break, especially a break when you haven't been feeling so well. Your two new lapel pins are beautiful! I especially love that deep blue. I hope you feel all better soon!! Hugs, Silke

  2. Deb, glad you caught your horse. I'm still searching for mine. Things are still not great around here we are just waiting for the Lord to call my uncle home. To top it off my aunt the wife of my uncle in waiting ended up in the hospital. The water heater decided it was time to stop working and created such a mess around here. I would just like to find my horse soon. Hugs, Velma

  3. Gosh you haven't wanted to crochet? Wow that surprises me a little because I know how much you love to keep your fingers busy crocheting. Although I do know how you feel though. I was in a bit of a crochet funk for a few days. So having a little break can be a very good thing :) I'm glad you have your crochet mojo back though.

    1. I know, huh?! Hard to believe...but true. I just haven't been feeling well at all! All I've been wanting to do is sleep!...I got back to it, and now I've had a relapse of whatever this is that I have. Ugh! I'm sure it'll pass...AGAIN!! I'll get back to crocheting like a mad woman soon. :-))
