On Pancake Sunday, We Have Flowers?!

Yes, I know! There's not a pancake in sight! Instead we have more Flowers!! ^_^ I'll explain the real reason below...but let's just say for now that I couldn't help myself! ^_^ The colors just made me do it! LOL...Although part of the reason was the satisfaction with myself that I actually finished the crochet brooches I was working on, and I wanted to show them off!! ^_^
And so that it's not a total self-involved endeavor, I decided to show off some of the other flower maker's flowers too!... :-) ...color for color...sorta!
Trina's cute red 'baby' is in the header photo...and me and VanCocoaDesigns colorful 'babies' will be interspersed below...starting with 'my' red 'baby from my Wuglyees shop on Etsy! :-) ...

These beautiful blue 'babies' below are paper!! :-) And are 'as cute as all get out'!!  ^_^ I had to use an old southern expression to show my love for them. Sorry. LOL

       I have a blue one too...but it's not paper. ^_^ It's DMC cotton thread.

I'm not the only one making flowers with materials other than paper though! Look at these pretty fabric 'babies'!...

I love all the colors!!!! :-) Look at my colors below...

I'm gonna work on one with similar colors to this one later today...

Now, flowers are never a bad thing to talk about on a Sunday morning...or any morning, for that matter! ^_^ But the real reason I'm talking about flowers, and not pancakes, is because....uhhhhh...we didn't have any pancake mix to make pancakes this morning! LOL...SOMEBODY...who shall remain nameless, forgot to go to the store and get it!....Yeah, the nameless one!!...but I think you know who I mean!!! *wink! wink!* ^_^
Thankfully the nameless one still cooks a 'mean' (great!) breakfast anyway!! So I'll just stretch out his forgetfulness into a hot sausage and some grits, and parlay that into a homemade cheesecake later today!! ^_^
         Cheesecake.......pancakes........cheesecake.......pancakes?!.....CHEESECAKE please!!!!
^_^ Sounds like a good trade to me! YUM!!!

Have a good rest of the weekend y'all! Tomorrow will be 'off to the races' week-wise again! :-)

Love A New Beginning

I love a new beginning,
whether day or year or hour.
All the new growth that's now starting,
like the budding of a flower.

The beginnings of a schedule,
like a long lost welcomed friend.
I love a new beginning,
and so "Here We Go Again!!!"

Sticky...To Oppressive?!!

We opened the bedroom shades this morning to let the sunshine in, but uhhhhh....what we got was darkness...clouds...fog....and rain. O_O When we turned on the weather channel to see how long this wetness was gonna last, we heard the weather man's accessment..."sticky to oppressive today"... Ugh!!
The only good thing about this kind of weather is that the plants and flowers around here LOVE it!!! :-] ...

The new growth starts popping up!...and the regular regulars...

    ...start looking up!! :-)

Well, as soon as I get the numbness out of my half awake body parts, and get some breakfast into me, I'll start looking up too!! ^_^

Later this afternoon I'm gonna get back to the business of crocheting custom brooches! :-) My customer let me know some more specifics about what she likes....YAY!! Now I know what to do!...and I'm happy to have some direction to be the 'worker bee' I wanna be!! ^_^
I did finish some other lady's brooches though...

These will go into the Wuglyees shop later today, or tomorrow, for $12.00 each...What do you think?!

By the way, I just saw some DMC variegated thread!...in all kinds of pretty colors!!!! EXCITED!!!!! :-) I ordered a few little skeins so I can try them out...Just think! Crochet flowers in variegated colors...and maybe with polka dot buttons!!!!!! ^_^ Stay tuned!!

Have a happy Saturday...or whatever day it is where you are! ^_^ Just enjoy the weekend, Y'all!!...Maybe watch some tennis too! I will!!! ^_^

Beauty

The sun is peeking through.
Its beam is flowing to the ground.
The Autumn at it's new peak,
and the leaves are fluttering down.

A baby girl's joyous laughing,
legs and arms kicking everywhere.
A mother, when she's nursing,
playing with her baby's hair.

The gentle rain, when falling
on a southern old tin roof.
A toddler's gap-faced grinning,
when they've lost their first front tooth.

A man with long, bow legs,
walking slowly down the street.
A colorful spring flower,
visited by a bumble bee.

A person who is kind,
and smiles at everyone they meet.
An artist's painted picture,
with the last brush stroke complete.

An "I love you" that's said
just because they wanted to;
and the person that gives hugs
when they hear an "I love you".
(And there's  other beauty too.)

'Virtual' Friday Date To......?!

YAY!!! It's Friday!.....Boooooo! It's pouring rain outside here in Holyoke... :-( ...but YAY!!!...because even though it's pouring rain also in London England, Wimbledon has a roof over center court, so there will still will be tennis!!!!!! ^_^
YAY!!! It's 'virtual' date day too!....but there are no booooos about that AT ALL!!! :-) ... "Where are you going?" you ask!...Well, we're going somewhere where I can wear pretty clothes! :-) ...

...Where both of us can eat delicious food! :-) ...

...Even delicious SPICY food! :-) ...

Have you guessed it yet?! :-) ... Well, we're going to......

           ...Calcutta...or Kolkata...India!! :-)

To be honest, with my bones aching a bit from the rain, and after a whole week of mildly flavored soups and stews, I wasn't quite sure I wanted to go to India! But hubby is ready for some excitement...and color...and some new scenery besides the backyard! :-)) So....off we go!!! ^_^
      I'm bringing my crocheting!...

I've been working on the custom order of lady's brooches. I have one more to make...a pink one...and then I have to make backings for them, and create the buds in the middle, and put brooch pins on the backs of them too.

I could probably get this done before we leave for the trip, but I'm taking it with me instead...because something tells me that we're gonna be inside...near a 'facility' (if you get my drift! LOL) at some point on this trip!! LOL I mean...hubby's stomach is not as 'cast iron' as it used to be!...even if he won't admit it....YET!! ^_^

What are YOU doing today, or this weekend?!...Is spicy food involved?! :-) Whatever it is, have a good one!!

All The Things I Love

If I listed all the things I've loved
I could rattle on forever!
Whether by 'order of importance'
or by a poeticly quick endeavor.

Right now it's Tennis...Well, all sports,
and reading informative magazines.
And crocheting, food and music.
Well..that might be in my genes!

I've loved teaching and line dancing,
So many things in my short life.
But I've never jumped from a plane,
or wittled anything with a knife!

With every passing moon
I find some other thing that I love.
Whether grassy patterns on my lawn,
or phenomenal skies above.

Yes, if I listed all the things I loved
my words could fill all space,
It comes from curiosity,
and an Ooo-ing Awww-ing place!

'Wacky Wednesday'.....Thursday!

What a day it was yesterday at Wimbledon!!!! O_O And I'll tell you right now, if you don't wanna know what happened because you have it taped to look at later, consider this your SPOILER ALERT!!!!...because I'm gonna talk about it in a minute!...Yes I am!! ^_^
In the meantime, let me share the few cute things I found on Etsy, and the custom boutonnieres I worked on last night! :-) First, the 'eye-catchers'...and 'nose'-catchers!! ^_^ ...

Isn't that a cool art card (above)?!! :-) Look at the detail...the little men hanging on to each dandelion spur!!...*Teehee*...And below, the detail of the feet, sneakers, and butterfly!! :-) ...

I love finding new and creative card shops!! :-)

And look at this cute music box (below)!!...

I don't see music boxes around that much anymore. When I was a kid, everybody I knew over the age of 15 had one!! :-] ... The music and flowers on top of this one really make it special! :-)

And then there's this really creative and sassy necklace (below)!...

I want these kind of necklaces...unusual and creative...to get more popular!....Then maybe...I hope, I hope, I hope! ^_^...my crochet necklaces can get a showing too! ^_^ ... The little dress in this necklace (above) is adorable!...but the shoes....Ah!...they were an inspired addition to the necklace! :-)

Moving on!...I have to talk about how thankful I am that 'ALL OF A SUDDEN my shop is getting sales again!! YAY!!! And not a moment too soon!! I was beginning to think that maybe I was gonna have to get out of the crochet boutonniere business, and get into the homemade Shepherd's pie and custom cheesecake business in order to make some fast money!! ^_^
Okay....not really. Who needs kitchen and food inspectors in their life on top of everything else?....NOT ME!! LOL...But if I had to.....I would've!!!!! ^_^ Instead I have loyal and faithful repeat customers!!! :-) ...Better!....MUCH better!!! ^_^
Here's one of the orders....done! :-) ... 3 crochet button boutonnieres, in the colors chosen by the customer!...

I have these color boutonnieres already in the shop, with the fold-able metal fastener on back. Upon request though, I customize them with buttons or a brooch pin on the back of them too!...and in whatever colors needed...You can check out my Wuglyees shop boutonnieres HERE if you're interested.
I'm still working on another custom order, and I've got a shipment to go out this morning also, so I gotta go!! O_O ... First though, let me tell you about the 'Wacky Wednesday' at Wimbledon yesterday!!! I'd never seen anything like it....EVER!...and I probably never will again!
As if it hadn't been bad enough on Tuesday that my 'baby boy', Rafael Nadal (#5 ranked), lost in the first round to a player I had never even seen play before, Steve Darcis, yesterday's Tuesday fare was waaaaaaaay worse! O_O
A bunch of people 'retired' from play due to injuries. Here's the list:

-John Isner (#18 ranked)
-Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (#6 ranked)
-Marin Cilic (#10 ranked)
-Victoria Azarenka (#2 ranked)

And then top players, who you thought were gonna be around until at least the semi-finals at the end of next week, started dropping like flies!! O_O Or should I say...started getting beaten like dusty rugs!!!...Here's the list:

-Caroline Wozniacki (#9 ranked), was beaten by Petra Cetkovska
-Lleyton Hewitt  was beaten by Dustin Brown
-Ana Ivanovic (#12 ranked) was beaten by Eugenie Bouchard
-Maria Sharapova (#3 ranked) was beaten by Michelle de Brito
-Roger Federer (#3 ranked) was beaten by Sergiy Stakhovsky

All of this happened in ONE DAY!!! O_O

If you don't usually watch tennis this won't mean anything to you. But if you do...your chin is probably on the ground just like mine!!!...I've got a whole week and a half of tennis to go...and I don't have many left to root for!!...But no worries...I'll find somebody!!! ^_^
Besides...the losers are headed home!! That's probably not so bad considering how busy their schedules are week to week usually!!
And me?!...I may be so busy crocheting that I don't notice anyway!!!....Yeah....RIGHT!!! Ha! Ha!...We'll see! :-) Have a good day everybody!!

Home

The place where I am at my best.
A place of calm and peace and rest.

The place from which I never roam.
'Cause it's in my heart, this place called home!
