COLOR....I Love You More Than Ice Cream!

I was just mentioning to someone yesterday about how much I love color, and then I came across this new listing for this colorful 100% cotton yarn  placemat from Monika of MonikaDesign! It's red, brown, orange and purple...just beautiful!...This isn't the first time I've been drawn to Monika's shop! In fact, if you go by to take a look, check out the crochet chocolate strawberry coaster! Sooooo creative! :-) It won't be the last time you're drawn to her shop either!
Of course the beautiful way she photographed the placemat,...with the olives, tomatoes and....whatever that toasted cheesy looking goodness is!...didn't hurt! ^_^ I admit to being drawn in by a food photograph or two...or four. :-)) ...I digress. Food will do that to me! LOL
As I was trying to say...I really love color! And since nothing else exciting is going on around here right now...30th anniversary day arrangements not withstanding...I thought I'd share a few colorful items I'm loving right now.

Pretty, right?!....Well, somebody besides us thought so, because it's already sold this morning! :-) I guess RosellaResin is gonna have to make some more of those babies....in blue I mean. She already has others in some other colors, like brown...

What?... O_O ...Brown is a color too, you know! Especially when it has those pretty gold flakes. :-)

I even bought some color!...Well, not 'color' per se, but I did buy something that was colorFUL! :-] ...

I bought some more colorful boxes to send my crochet jewelry to my customers in! :-) I love this shop because they have the right size boxes that I need. A lot of box shops sell just the size box that you put rings or earrings in..I have some of those too, but my brooches and necklaces are larger and need room to stretch out...room to show off a business card or two alongside of them! ^_^
Last time I got my boxes from here, I bought an even larger turquoise blue box...sorta like that fancy company's box color. You know who I mean, right?! ;-)) I'm saving that box for the customer that buys a large jewelry order, or an expensive AND large jewelry order! :-)) Just think...that blue turquoise box could be yours! ^_^
In the meantime I'm gonna save these boxes for my other babies....like this colorful refashioned brooch ...

Oh yeah! It's got color baby!! :-)

     ...and an interesting button.....

...and a bar pin on the back...And a square heart dangle...

It's one of the brooch projects I'm refashioning in my shop these days. I'm turning some of my bigger chunkier brooches into keychains, and the larger, but more interesting ones, into pinback brooches, for wearing on coats and things like that, for the Fall. As long as people aren't afraid of color, I think they'll be okay. :-]

Have I told you "Mr. Color,...

...I love you more than ice cream!" :-)

Don't get me wrong, I love things that aren't all full of color too! In fact, I'm in love with these two items right now as well...

"Have I told you, Mr. Black and White, that I love you more than...

     ...cookies!" LOL

Do you see the theme here?!...Color...and a girl trying to stop eating ice cream and cookies for a few days, to make room for all of the cake she's gonna eat on her 30th anniversary! ^_^ Have a colorful day, everybody! :-)

...And Ice Cream

Butter Pecan ice cream
and Strawberry Jam;
Country Fried Chicken
and clove-studded Ham.

Banana-Split ice cream
and French-Fried Potatoes;
Macaroni and Cheese
and Fried, green Tomatoes.

Ben and Jerry's ice cream
and Shepherd's Pie;
Candied Yams and Marshmallows
and Turkey on Rye.

Chocolate Swirl ice cream
and Jelly Beans of all kinds,
Double Cheese Burgers
and Barbequed Pork Rinds.

Cheesecake ice cream
and Foot-Long Hot Dogs,
Lay's Potato Chips,
and Warmed up Pecan Logs.

Orange Dream Sickles
(and Fudge Sickles too),
Mushroom Chicken Breasts,
and Chocolate Charleston Chews.

Chocolate Chip ice cream
and Oven-Baked Pork Roast,
a Cinnamon-Raisin Bagel,
or simply a piece of Toast.

Ice Cream is always on the menu.
It always adds that extra "Zing".
No matter whatever else you're having,
it smoothly goes with everything!

Purple Blue.....Persuaded!

As you know, I'm a girl who LOVES myself some color! Colorful words, colorful people, colorful crocheted creations, colorful personalities, and just plain color! :-] So when I had one of my colorful scarves including in a recent color-filled treasury, I was thrilled!

But Lindsey, the curator of this treasury, wasn't just enthralled with the colors in the treasury...which were purple and blue. She was also enthralled with the shapes....rectangles! And here are a few of the 'rectangles' she chose...

She even chose my purple royal blue persuasion fuzzy blocks scarf  from my Wuglyees Etsy shop to go into the treasury...

Apparently she liked not only the purple and blue colors, but also the rectangular shaped blocks in the scarf...Yeah, I like them too! ^_^ ..."Thanks, Lindsey!"

Color, color, color! :-) And lately it seems that my headless model Tina has been used quite a bit to show off my colors!...This purple and blue scarf was only one thing. I also used Tina to show off my latest two necklaces. One I listed in the shop....finally...yesterday. I'll list the other one today.
I made them a while ago, but I was dreading, dreading, dreading the listing process!...

Now you can see what I mean, right?! I had to list what materials I used. What every bead and leaf were made out of! O_O ...Time-consuming! But it's done! You can click on any photo to go to the shop and see it closer.

I still have to list this one...

And as you can see, it's got lots of detail too...seed beads, lockets, wire, etc...

I'm gonna need a nap afterward I think...

...sorta like I needed after I finished my "About" page in my shop yesterday. WOW! My brain is really getting a workout these days!! LOL...And so is headless Tina!
       I've got some studying to finish, a sweater blanket to work on, some refashioning of some keychains to finish, etc....BUSY! That's what I'm gonna be today. I'll share the fruits of my labor....and some info...Shhhhh!...about my anniversary gift for my hubby too, later in the week. T minus 6 days and counting! ^_^ Have a good day, Everybody! :-) {With so much seriousness, I decided to leave you with a little nonsense! ^_^}

Sometimes Things Aren't What They Appear To Be!

If you saw this picture and came running over here because you thought it looked like some kind of yummy dessert...like a lemon lime jello pie...or, as hubby thought, some kind of coconut bar O_O ...welcome to the club!... :-)) ...the club of people easily led by their eyes when it looks like good food is somewhere around! LOL
No! It's not a dessert. It's handmade cold process vegan friendly soap! :-] It's called "Fresh Cut Grass", and it's from an Etsy shop called Blushie...Not only does it look good, apparently it smells good too! In the description in the shop it says:

"Who can resist the crisp green scent of freshly cut grass? Mellowed with just a touch of cool, soothing aloe vera this soap smells just like running your toes through a damp lawn in summer.".

...Well, point me to the lawn! ^_^ ...Well...not really. I'm allergic to grass! LOL...WOW! I just sneezed and had a flashback to the Green Acres theme song! ^_^

Anyway!...the soap photo was only one of the photos that threw me when I was looking around on Etsy last night. I totally thought I was looking at one thing, and it turned out to be something else. (Sorta like when you deal with teenagers...just saying! ^_^) Case in point...

Did you know it was a purse?!...I didn't. But how cute!

Okay...yes, this is a butterfly. An Orange Baroque Swirl Flutterby Butterfly to be exact!...It's here because.....because I just had to share it ...just because! ^_^

      But what about...

No! They're not little huts!...They're cottage EARRINGS! :-) ...So cool! But not what you think when you first see them, right?!

And then there are things that "are" what you think they are, but just not photographed in the way you expect them to be. For instance, look at these...

Unexpected....and adorable, right?!...Sorta like the colors on my Crochet Sweater blanket!...

I'm almost ready to start the next color. What do you expect that one to be?! ^_^ Hubby is in horrified anticipation. LOL...Have a good day, Everybody! :-)

Its Not What It Seems

Embrace the teenage quirks
(they just seem sometimes like jerks!)
Forgive their thoughtlessness,
and their rooms-always a mess!

Asking: "Why did they say that?!"
"Do I really look that fat?!"
They didn't mean to let that out.
And there's no reason that they pout!

So-they act a little silly;
Did you expect something else-Really?!
Just remember where their heart is,
though their words, like bullets, will whiz!

You must embrace their quirks.
Look, not at words, but at their works.
Look past the mire, and the muck;
Oh Yeah-and don't  forget to duck!

Schedule?...What Schedule?!

It's Monday!...YAY! :-] I know...that's not the usual reaction to a Monday. Most of the time people aren't glad to see Monday come. They've usually had a good weekend, visiting with their family, eating, sleeping, playing...living like happy weekend dogs! LOL...and they're not in a hurry to see it end!

I'm feeling all of that too. I've enjoyed my family. I've enjoyed eating, playing, even sleeping! But for a few weekends lately I've been feeling a bit off kilter. I'm the kind of girl who likes a plan...a schedule of what I'm suppose to be doing.  Something I can stick to...a yard stick for normal.
Lately no matter how much I try to stick to the plan...and follow my schedule...unexpected things keep coming up! Last minute requests from family members who need things done for them RIGHT NOW!....lack of sleep on my usual schedule, but naps that insist on being taken RIGHT NOW!..So, needless to say, what I'm craving, even more than an extended  weekend...is my schedule! So...YAY for Monday! ^_^
Back to a regular schedule for me!...Blog up before 9:00...doing some studying, reading, etc...working on the crochet projects in the bin that are half done...and so on, and so on, and so on!...I'm even gonna 'plan' a nap! LOL No more things going off into all kinds of directions!...unless it's a creative endeavor. :-)

Let's see how long this lasts! LOL Or if I get any more done than I've been getting done. ^_^ Or if hubby and I can get our relatives to honor our schedule!.....Ha! Something tells me that I should learn to schedule...and then forget I know how to do it! That might be more mentally relaxing for me.
Speaking of mentally relaxing, I'm still gonna be sharing Etsy finds...

I love to do that! :-]

Hmmm...heart-shaped boutonnieres! :-) Why didn't I think of that?!....Probably because it wasn't on my schedule! LOL....Okay, so maybe not EVERYTHING needs to be scheduled! ^_^ ...Are you a 'schedule' type person, or are you more of a 'fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants' type of person?! I'd love some input on this subject...Otherwise, plan to have a good day Everybody! :-)

Off My Schedule

I've been off my schedule,
and I'm craving normalcy.
I wanna sleep six hours
and then plan my A to Z.

It's not for want of trying.
I'm a schedule making fool!
But putting things in writing
hasn't made them now the rule.

Things keep coming up.
Out of nowhere, things to do.
Obligations that keep pulling
at my "set in schedule" glue.

I've just been giving in,
like a pushed revolving door.
I schedule to do better.
I mean, what is a schedule for?!

Embracing The Competition

I'm not gonna do a lot of talking this morning. I've already been doing that with my hubby! ^_^ Now, I've got to get myself ready for my meeting!...But what I am going to do is show you the cute crocheted boutonnieres that have been popping up on Etsy lately.
At first I was kinda sad...because usually when I'd go and do the Etsy search for "crochet boutonnieres" the majority of the ones showing up would be mine! ^_^ It was like having my own Etsy category! :-) But, of late, I've had to share the spotlight.

RichardsFabulousFind has some really cute boutonnieres and lapel flowers! And the photos are so good too. Much better than mine!....I have to figure out how to get my man to dress up "in the house" and then make him stand still! LOL

RusticNovel (below) has some cute boutonnieres too!...

     ...and some good-looking photos!

So, rather than being jealous that Wuglyees isn't cornering the market on crocheted boutonnieres, I'm gonna be thankful that crocheted boutonnieres are getting a following, and a market!...Besides, there's plenty of room for all of us. And we all crochet slightly differently anyway.
Here's a few of the cuff link boutonnieres and lapel pins from my shop. (below) I spent yesterday refashioning them, and padding them up a little bit...so that they didn't flop around on the lapel when they were being worn. There was a lot of room around that cuff link.

So, as you can see, I was kinda busy yesterday! ^_^ And I'm gonna be busy with all of them later today too...because I have to re-list them in the shop. They have to be re-measured. I have to change the descriptions to be more accurate. And, in some cases, re-price them too!

And, believe it or not, those boutonnieres weren't the only ones I was working on yesterday!...I also refashioned a couple of men's boutonnieres into ladies brooches! :-)) ...

I removed the stick pin and added a brooch pin bar to the back of this one (above)...

I also removed the stick pin to this one...and then I added, not only a bar pin to the back, but a Czech Glass Fly Button to the front of it!...

They look much better as ladies brooches, right?!...They were a little too large to put on a men's suit jacket lapel. I think that's why no man ever bought them! LOL...Let's see if the ladies like 'em! :-)

The last thing I did yesterday was work another color onto my sweater lap blanket...It went from this...

      ...to this now...

Hubby is making all kinds of jokes and wise cracks about my color palette for my sweater blanket...but WHATEVER!!! ^_^ If he's not careful I may rethink my stance of not making him dress up in the house and stand still for some photos of my boutonnieres! LOL I could put some colors on them that will make a grown man weep! ^_^
Okay...look at the time!! O_O Gotta go!...Have a good day, Everybody!

Men Are Not The Same

Men are not the same.
Women, you know what I mean.
They are complicated, quiet,
not fanatics being clean.

Men are not the same.
They could care less how they look!
Yes, a generalization,
in which I could write a book.

Men are not the same.
On long detail don't waste their time.
They will say the color's green,'
Where we say emerald, teal, or lime.

Men are not the same.
Some things are obvious to see.
Like muscle mass and hair,
and the different ways we pee.

The truth is, girls, we like it!
Our feigned annoyance is a myth.
Because if we were both the same
there'd be no one to bicker with!
