Wuglyees Is All Boxed Up!!

    Aren't these boxes great!! They're perfect to put your customer's jewelry in for the Fall season, don't you think?! These aren't the ones I got though. I just saw these this morning! I did get some though. I got 50 of these...

     I got them from a great Etsy shop called NotableNotions. They have a whole section of Presentation Boxes! I needed some that were see through on the top, and a bit larger than the regular jewelry display boxes. My crochet necklaces need more room to spread out! And since they're fiber/crochet, I can't just leave them in the air when they are on a shelf to sell, or at a craft show. And it appears that that may be my next move...to have my necklaces and crochet jewelry in a Craft Mall type outlet.
    If I had the money I'd probably be stocking up on boxes from this shop. They have all kinds of shapes and sizes! You'll have to check it out for yourself. They have 12 pages of boxes...and all kinds of other supplies too!! I particularly love these boxes though...

      If you buy these you can save on wrapping paper, ribbons, and bows! Your jewelry will show up at the customer's house like a little present! :-)
    It was nice to get something in the mail yesterday, to distract me.  My activities, due to this pinched nerve in my arm, have been curtailed. I spend my time sitting with my arm slung up, listening to magazines, watching TV, and eating and resting. (I got a really nice long distance phone call from my "New" cousin last night too!!) I guess sipping on soup and taking EXTRA naps is better than sucking down pain pills and screaming! ^_^
    I'm kidding because, actually, my arm is feeling a lot better. I can move it almost everywhere now, except for up and down in one area. But at least it isn't aching every minute like it was a few days ago! Massages and resting it in the sling is really working wonders. I'm even typing a bit with my fingers on that hand right now! I can feel it getting tired though so, before I take off for the day, let me introduce you to another AWM team member. Her Etsy shop is emilybetti. This is her business card.

Hanging Out

I'm hanging out, and eating,
this and that, pick, pick, pick!
There's not much else to do
when you're home and feeling sick.

Listening to some music,
making plans in my head.
Just like a tuna, flipping
back and forth in my bed.

Laughing at the T.V.,
playing scrabble all alone,
Looking at the walls
while I'm chatting on the phone.

I'm hanging out, and waiting
for a change in the weather,
for my cold to go away,
and to feel a whole lot better.

Then it'll be back to work,
and I'll be up and about,
waiting patiently for a day,
when I can just be hanging out!
 

It's The One-Handed, Slow, Poster! Ha!

     I want to introduce you to one of my friends...Mr. Pain Pill. I HATE Mr. Pain Pill!!! And I hate his buddy too...BEN-gay! But I wouldn't have even met them if it was not for their cohort...ARTHUR-itis!! I think I have the wrong kind of men in my life these days!! LOL
   As much as I like to talk, this pinched nerve and this one-handed typing is really cramping my style...and my fingers! It is starting to ease up a bit though. I'm just going to have to rest my arm for at least another couple of days. So, to you is the only talking (typing-wise) I'm doing with any necessity...except to customers.
   And YAY for me...I had a couple of sales over the last couple days!! It's been a long dry spell. Not a long non-crocheting spell...because I HAVE been crocheting!!! 'Can you say PISTACHIO'?!! LOL And NO!...Smarty-Pants!...that is not why I have a pinched nerve!!! That's my story.....! ^_^

Fall Is The Tree

Fall is the tree,
with its colors all set free
in the orange and red you see,
and the golden leaves in the
honey-colored harmony
of a busy bumble bee.

Its so beautiful that we
don't even have to pay a fee
for the stark tranquility
that just fills our heart with glee.

Fall is the tree,
and it makes us hit our knee,
and thank God so humbly
for the unlocked door and key
to our visual memory.
All the other seasons flee,
but the fall is the tree.

  

What To Do In A Pinch

     "OUCH!!!" and other words to display my discomfort are all that my hubby has heard for 3 or so days now. I have a very bad pinched nerve...or something...in my arm. Even typing right now is uncomfortable for me. I have to put my hand in just the right position and do a lot of the work with my off hand.
   So, since I can't talk as much today...so to speak...I'm going to do what people in a pinch do------Short cuts!! :-) I'm starting with showing you the beautiful Desktop Calendar for October 2010 that Mariann, over at the Nature and Wildlife Photography Blog, is letting all of us download for FREE! I Used To Be Able

I used to be able to walk
without giving thought to every step.
I used to be able to exercise
with no hesitation, or lack of pep.

I used to be able to study for hours,
and my thoughts were as clear as a bell.
I could see so clearly what to underline.
(Now-if I do, I can`t tell!)

I used to be able to just jump out of bed,
with my movements preceding my brain;
But now there is first, lots of thought,
then a cane-preceded by pain!

I used to be able to sleep through the night,
without flipping from left to right;
But now I wake up as `Hot as can be`,
and sweating like I`ve been in a fight.

I used to be able to eat what I wanted,
and my body would just burn it off;
But now, not only does it sit where it lands,
but I get indigestion and cough!

I used to be able to paint my own toes;
and stand in the shower to wash my hair;
But now I depend on people that I pay
to pretty me up-and to care.

I used to be able to dance `heel-to-toe`;
and take deep breaths to sing.
As you can see from this poem, things have changed;
Now I hum and dance, stumbling.

Its really okay that I`m not quite the same;
It just means that I`ve been `round the bend.`
I`ve matured and grown up and got settled with it,
`cause one day I`ll do it all again.

Embarrassing Moments...and Sports!

     Today's post was prompted by Cindy. She did a really cute blog post about her early days as a prima ballerina...*Teehee*...and wanted to see my early days as a super star basketball player. HAH!! Okay....NOT...for either of us, but OH BOY! did it bring back some memories!! So, Cindy, this one's for you! :-)
   This is going to be really embarrassing! The pictures, I mean. So, before I show you my sports and High School pictures, let me show you another picture that will officially get this embarrassment started...one that I drew! I know you're wondering what a crocheter/poet is doing drawing pictures!! Well, it was prompted by another blog post.  Cathy, on her blog at Artsy Butterfly, was talking about the Sketch Challenge she's following on another blog (You can read all about it on this post.) I decided to try to sketch it too!
      Now I'm asking myself WHY?!....I don't have the heart to show you what the original is suppose to look like, (If you go to her post you can find it though) but suffice it to say it's not suppose to look like this!!

    Go ahead and laugh! That's what I did.....and am still doing!!! And from now on I know that I better stick to what I know! ^_^ What I know is crocheting, sports, and poetry. The crocheting stuff is what I talk to you all the time about! But the sports.....Well, yeah, I talk about that sometimes too! But today I'm going to talk about me...PLAYING sports, not just watching sports!!!
    Who knew that more than 30 years ago this mild mannered young girl...

    ....would grow up to want to beat the stuffing out of the other team!!! Ha! I was, and to a certain extent, am a sports nut! And now I know where I got it from! The High School I went to was a breeding ground for sports nuts!! My High School Yearbook, which I just got through fishing through, was full of page after page of photos of our school's SPORTS! Archery, football, soccer, wrestling, hockey, baseball, track, tennis, softball, bowling (hmmmm...is that a sport?! If not, our school made it into one!), and basketball!!
    I played a few of these in High School. Some I just tried out for and either didn't like, or they didn't like me! But basketball?! I loved to play basketball!!

    Yep! That's me! Number 30...Chubbette with the striped socks! Yikes! What were they thinking?!! LOL I was only 5 foot 6, but I was a basketball playing fool! And if I do say so myself...and I probably am the only person who would say so after looking at our school's record...but I had the sweetest, outside jump shot you ever want to see!! :-)

    My friend Carol was the Center and I was her 'set-up girl forward'!...Looking at this shot though, I can see how I should have known that problems with my bones was going to be in my future!! LOL I was double jointed, but it looked like I was trying to take my arm off and throw that in the basket!! :-] We had so much fun!!! And we were so TERRIBLE as a team! Oh Well, I learned lots of lessons from playing. Things that have stuck with me until now...Unfortunately 'how to be a good team player' was not one of them!! LOL

    I wonder what happened to all of these guys?! I know that one of them died, and one was related to me. *sigh*...Life DOES move on, doesn't it?! Do you ever wonder about people you went to school with? People who were your best buds at a very critical time in your life?! I often do. Not only because we shared sports though!
    My group of friends shared lots of things during High School!! We shared shop classes (I went to a trade school where they taught us how to be waitresses, caterers, nurses, cosmetologists, seamstresses, and artists!....Okay so I didn't pay that close attention in the art classes...except for how to do clay molds and make paper machete balls!). We also shared Class Luncheons, and....

    My hubby still can't believe I went to the prom with this guy! He was a neighborhood friend...(sorta)...of his. Hubby didn't go to the same High School....And because we were the smart cultured bunch that we were, we also shared....

   So you see! My body AND my mind were engaged in High School!! :-)
    Frankly, I wish my mind had been a bit more engaged then, because I might have realized I had such a love for writing! I wrote poetry and other things all my life and never connected it to anything that I could make a living doing!! But whenever I think back about this time of my life now, I always see this face...

    She was the woman who taught me my love of words!!

    She was my High School English teacher!! I loved her love for what she did!! I never forgot her...or any of the things she taught me. And I never saw her again after High School...Wonder what happened to her?! Did you ever have a teacher that sparked something good in you that you still remember even today?!!...She evokes memories of Beatles songs and public recitations, laughter and fabulous words!!! There were some embarrassing moments in her classes too! But I learned from them too!!
    So, now you know a little bit more than you probably wanted to know about me! :-] Now, I'm going to be a good team player and show you another member of my AWM team. It's BagsOfAFeather.

Girlhood Left Behind

Little girls always grow yp,
and leave behind their fantasies;
They leave behind their mama's heels
and their skinned and scabby knees.

They leave behind their baby dolls,
and all their childhood toys;
They leave behind their cute, pink room,
and forget their fear of boys.

Remember the Easy-Bake oven?
I'm sure your little girls do!
(That was one thing they left behind-
along with their patent leather shoes.)

They also left behind Slinkees,
pacifiers-and breast milk;
They traded it in for make-up,
perfume, and shirts made of silk.

They also left behind tantrums,
and whining all day for a cup.
(Well-maybe a little of the whining
was left behind when they grew up!)

The further away from their childhood
that little girls continue to be,
the more they forget how it was
to be silly and just fancy-free.

To play outdoors for hours;
To have an imaginary friend;
To host their own tea party,
indoors, in their family's den.

They've grown up and had their babies
and left behind their innocence;
Their own little girls they've powdered,
with no thought to their childhood since!

Finally...You've Got Mail!!!

    After pouring rain for days now, and an aching shoulder that...OUCH!...won't respond to pain pills, heating ointment, cold, heat, or nothing...YAY!! I got mail!! And more than one piece of mail too!...The first though, was this lovely air mailed package from...

    ...Australia!!! Remember a couple of week's ago when I was telling you about being on planettreasure's blog reading about her cute little guinea pigs and then Lo and Behold, I saw that I had won a surprise gift in her Giveaway?! Well, this package was the gift! It came yesterday!!! I couldn't wait to open it to see what I got!! (I hope she doesn't mind me sharing. ^_^) 

    It was wrapped up tight too!...But I got into it alright!! :-]

   It had all kinds of goodies in there!...A beautiful postcard...

    BoosTees is great! It has cute things in there, like these Knitted red strawberry fingerless mitts!

    While looking around her shop I checked out her announcement and found out that she also has a destash shop called planetdebris! I had to check it out too!...These Green Square Millefiori beads were in there...10 for $2.00!!

    In trying to photograph them I got a little sense of what it must be like for all of you gem beaders to get good shots of your jewelry!

     I told you I was going to get him...and I did!! :-)) He might just be responsible for me getting a couple of extra minutes of sleep last night too! Every time I woke up and saw him...off I went back to sleep again!! Ha! Ha!
       (The poem I'm sharing today practically wrote itself yesterday. I was watching the rain out of my windows all day and It kept rambling around in my head. I wrote it down and was going to try to add some more stanzas to it later....but I found that these few lines said all that was needed to be said!)

    Now, On to my rainy day productions! And yes....they include "Pistachio"!! The rain cleared up for a 'hot second' yesterday, so that these photos could be taken. They're not the best, but here goes....the Forest Moss and Pistachio Scarf

     If you click on the link you can see a couple of other shots of it. I don't know if it was the weather or what, but I couldn't get a crisp look at it through the lens. It looks much better in person, in my opinion. Okay...so I may be a bit biased! LOL
    This isn't the only scarf I did though! If you look at this one you will notice that the outside edge on both sides is of the thicker, darker, forest moss colored yarn. Well, I decided to do the same yarns, but with the pistachio on the outter edges. This is what that came out to look like....

    It's a subtle difference, but a difference none the less! Can you tell the difference?! Do you have a preference?!....Well, I didn't stop there! What do you want......It's been raining......A LOT!!! LOL ....So, I made this 'un-named as of yet' creation...

    This one is Pistachio and Razzle Dazzle and white. You can see it a little closer here...

    Are you tired of Pistachio yet?!! I wasn't!!! ^_^ I'm now working on this one!

   It's a combination of rows of pistachio and rows of celery! Yep! Again with the celery!! LOL The celery looks much better next to the lighter pistachio, rather than being next to the darker moss color, like in the other scarf I made last week. I think so anyway!...I'm almost done with this one too. Probably will be by the end of this rainy day.
   Then what?!! Probably an 'Ugly Wuglyee' with all of the leftover celery, moss, and pistachio. Then date night....and definitely more rain!!! :-) Have a good weekend everyone, and don't forget to enter the GIVE AWAY!!

GREEN

Beans, asparagus,cabbage and frogs,
cucumbers, shamrocks, and moss on old logs.

tropical waters and thick bottled glass.

 Pistachio, collards, and yes...Money too!
And don't forget envy. It's green when you stew!

Ecologically aware, reusably clean,
Or you don't know anything. They both are called "green".

A color, a feeling, a veggie, all fun!
