Ooooooo! I Got Gifts!!!! :-)

       WOW! I have so much to share with you today that I didn't know where to start! But after a short 'ping' to my brain, it was clear that apple bread was the sure place to start! ^_^

    One of my 'bestie' girlfriends came over and spent the day with me, and she was toting this gift of a loaf of 'hot-from-the-oven' apple bread!!!! YUM! :-)
 

     If you think it looks good...you're absolutely right!!! ^_^ But, as good as it looks, that has nothing on the way it tastes! IT-IS-DE-LICIOUS!!!! :-) ... Hubby and I may, or may not, have had more than one piece...We may, or may not, have toasted some, and put cream cheese on it too!...Okay. no maybes...WE DID! :-) And IT-WAS-DE-LICIOUS...ER!!!!...if that was even possible! Ha! Ha!...♥ Thank you, Kari!!!!!! ♥

     That was only one gift she was toting though! :-) She also gave me two skeins of beautiful turquoise and white fashion yarn that she found on sale!...

       It's so soft!!
 

   
      It's not gonna be yarn that I can use on a whole boutonniere because it has these little cotton puffs on it...

     But it could make a great edging for a scarf, right?! :-) ... Just because I'm 'me' though, I am gonna make a boutonniere and put a row of this pretty yarn around the edge, for the wedding section of my Wuglyees shop...if it works! :-] I think a fancy boutonniere for a man's wedding would be appropriate....Are you with me?! O_O

     Believe it or not though, these weren't the only gifts I received yesterday! :-) I also got a wonderful gift in the mail!!...

     ...A BIG package...that came 'Priority' mail!!...
 

    I knew it was coming, because Yaya, of 'Whispering Pines' blog, told me about it! :-) ... I was one of the winners of her Double Giveaway! :-) ...

      I won a beautiful plate, and a candle, and a flower bloom candle holder!!! :-) ... Below are my pictures after I carefully unwrapped my 'FABU' gift!!...

     The candle holder stand is very sturdy, and the candle smells sooooo good!! :-)

      And then there was the signed plate!!...

    It's soooo beautiful!!...

      ...and it has a bird!...

     ...And a flower!! :-] ... I had to 'stop and smell it'...sorta! ^_^ Thank you so much, Yaya!! I LOVE IT...everything!!! :-) And I know the other winner, Jennifer, will too!!

      Great gifts, right?! :-) But believe it or not, that wasn't my only gifts yesterday!! :-) ... I also got a gift of a visit from a pretty black and white woodpecker to my suet bird feeder!...

    It's hard to see, but I put the arrow there so that if you click the picture to make it larger you'll at least know where to look! ^_^

     Wait!...There's more!! ^_^ ... Hubby spent all day Sunday in the kitchen. He made stew and pork roast, and.....and....

     ...a surprise gift of an apple/cherry pie!...deep dish style. :-) YUM!

     So there you are! All kinds of fabulous gifts I got over the last couple of days. :-) ... Unfortunately, we're about to get a gift that I wish I could send back! Grrr! A HUGE snow storm is heading toward the northeast for Friday. O_O I fear we're gonna be snow-trapped again!! {I wrote a poem about the last time it happened. It's below.}
      The weather forecasters say two systems are slamming into each other...whatever that means!...and our area is slated to get anywhere from 12 to 18 inches of snow!! More than a foot!!!...Boston, a short distance away, is gonna get 24 inches!...two feet!!! O_O YIKES!!
     Get prepared, people!!!! O_O ... Make sure you have your perishables ready, batteries, and whatever else you need...just in case!...If I could, I would re-gift this one....fast!!! ^_^ ... Have a good day, everybody! :-)

'Hammered'!!!

      Have you ever heard the expression: "No good deed goes unpunished"?!...Well, as a point of fact, I don't believe that. I believe that 'You reap what you sow', just like the Bible says!...But I have to admit that I have seen situations in my life that made me understand why people say that! ^_^ Sometimes it's tough being a 'good' person!! In fact, people who, out of the goodness of their hearts, try to do  good deeds, sometimes get HAMMERED! ^_^
   In a funny kind of way, it happened to my hubby yesterday! ^_^ I'll tell you about it in a minute...First, I wanna talk about the weather...Yes! The weather! :-) ... The backyard is about to get 'hammered' again...by snow! O_O

     The weather has been so weird lately!...One day it's 50 or 60 degrees. The very next day it's below the freezing point!...The next day it's 'raining cats and dogs'...The day after that we have 50 mile an hour wind gusts! O_O...I heard someone say: "What's next? Locusts?"...They thought that was funny...Yesterday I'm sure I heard crickets rubbing their back legs together!! O_O LOL
   The weather forecasters here said last night that, after two days of occasional snow showers, we would get a light dusting of snow...Cut to 'multiple spin-outs last night on an icy highway'!! O_O Yep!...The 'light dusting' of snow fell when the temperatures were below freezing and turned the highway here in Holyoke into a skating rink! Ugh!
     Today there's suppose to be no snow...no wind gusts....no locusts!...no problem! ^_^ Tomorrow is suppose to be the same...But Friday?!Friday is another story. O_O 
      Starting at around 3 a.m. in the morning on Friday we're suppose to start a 24 hour snow period. They're saying that in our area we're gonna get 'at least' 6 inches of snow...Depending on how the weather 'model' shimmies though, we could end up with 12 inches PLUS!! O_O...Thanks, Bead! LOL ('Bead' is my nickname for Cindy Newell, who lives in Michigan, and who just got this amount of snow in her area recently! ^_^)

       ...Speaking of which, back to the story about my hubby!...His mom needed some bread, but she doesn't drive. The only stop she was gonna be able to make out of the house yesterday was when she was being driven to the 'children's daycare' where she works part-time, and then back home.
    Hubby agreed to get it for her, and to drop it off at the house so that it would be there when she got home! :-)...Unbeknownst to her, he made a homemade stew and an apple dessert, that he also took over and left for her. ♥ He's such a sweetie!...and as a side-note, his cooking experimentations are getting soooo good lately! :-]
    But the 'hammering' happened when he stopped by her work-place, the children's 'Day-care', to pick up some papers that she needed taken and dropped off somewhere too...It was a room full of small children, ages ranging from newborns to 3 year olds. Mostly 3-year olds. 
    My hubby loves to question and joke around with small children. So he started peppering them with questions: "How old are you?"..."Are you gonna eat all of those crackers?!"..."Why do you look so mean?"
    After he got the papers, and was getting ready to leave, he did a big wave to the children and said: "Bye!!"...And one little sweet 3 year old said, in a loud voice, "Bye, doo doo head!!" O_O And all of the kids started giggling! It totally took him by surprise!!....Hammered!!...then, out of nowhere, they all chimed in together: "Bye, doo doo head!!" LOL
     I say 'LOL' because I 'can' say LOL...this morning! ^_^ I couldn't say that yesterday. My hubby couldn't laugh about it yesterday! ^_^ I could...secretly. Shhhhhh!...But this morning he thinks it's hilarious!!...There he was, thinking he was building rapport with the little ones, and they turned on him like a bad smell coming from a garbage dump!! ^_^

        He was never more in a hurry to get out of a place! LOL...But it all became a distant memory when his mom called late last night to say how much she loved his stew and apple dessert! She said: "You cook better than me!" :-) ... Needless to say, I am not allowed to complain about his cooking ANY more...according to him. His mom says he's a good cook, and that's that! LOL
    I did take the opportunity to let him know though, that his apple dessert needed butter, and the crust 'was' a little burnt! ^_^ He laughed, and left the room, after a quick word: "Doo doo head!" LOL...*shaking my head*...Hammered!! ^_^ ... Oh, the things the children teach us!!! LOL

      The poem below is one I've never shared on the blog before, because it's more of a spiritual poem about young children of Jehovah's Witnesses. But I think that some of the points can be appreciated by everyone, so I decided, based on today's subject, to share it. :-) ... And giveaway gift post will be tomorrow...for sure!! LOL ... Young People

Young people, when at meetings, sit;
They squirm and wiggle just a bit;
But soon they learn the good habit
they're  taught again and again.

Soon they're  giving their first talk;
While parents do the nervous walk;
They smile and clap and watch the clock,
and wait for it to end.

A few years more-its microphones,
and comments, with an unsure tone;
But parents love the way they've  shown
a willingness to try.

Then, teenage years come-way too fast;
But, thankfully they quickly pass,
'cause parents prayed it would not last,
and Jehovah heard their cry.

The congregation needs kids here;
The young ones work hard every year,
encouraged by the spread of cheer,
and caring, selfless love.

Like young ones, we could take a clue,
to be spiritual-But have fun too,
and put our heart in all we do;
'cause that comes from above.

Young people grow to be real dear;
They clean the Hall, and pioneer;
Serving Jehovah is the career
that they do every day.

They become servants, as they grow;
Elders, who help God's  spirit flow;
Circuit Overseers who will know
just how to show the way.

The sacrifices they have made
are things that they would never trade,
because the ransom that Christ paid,
put them on solid ground.

So-from tiny tots, to older men,
they learn to be Jehovah's  friend,
and help the congregation blend-
the whole wide world around.

And if you are a younger one,
don't  think that now your job is done;
Its really only just begun;
So-strengthen your endeavor.

Keep reading God's word every night;
Keep making meetings your delight,
and teaching others what is right-
to live on earth forever.

YIKES!!...Where Did The Time Go?!!

      You're probably not gonna believe this, with my yakkety talkative self, but I almost forgot that I hadn't done a blog post for today!!!! O_O I woke up at 5 a.m. and I've been going, going, going ever since!!

     I had some packages that had to be shipped, some updating and filing that had to be done...it's tax time! O_O...and some other stuff, which, as soon as I get this post up, I'll be going back to finish!

     Ans it's not like I didn't have things to talk about! I won a Giveaway the other day that I wanted to share with you...Me and hubby got into a conversation about 'specifics' that I wanted to talk about...and we've got some more 'interesting' weather on the way! Ugh!...Not to mention the things that have been in the news lately! WOW!

      Maybe I'll get around to talking to you about some of these things over the next few days, but for today I just want to share a few things I spotted on Etsy. One being the cute bear in the header photo! :-) He reminded me a little bit of my 'baby Wuglyee' bear. :-]

      And I love this pillow because it reminds me of all of the things I love...flowers, pillows for napping, words, and 'virtual' dates!...hubby and I have strolled the streets of Paris on many a 'virtual' Friday date night, eating pastries and saying Ooo la la to each other!! ^_^

Well What Did You Think I Would Be Talking About This Morning?!

      I know most of you probably don't care, but football conversation is all I got today! ^_^ Well, football and football side-affects!...swollen fingers from eating all of the salty corn chips and cheetoes, a slightly sore throat from yelling, and a headache from not getting enough sleep! LOL

     It was such a good game!! Even better than I thought it was gonna be! :-) I wasn't so sure that was gonna be the case after the first half, because the Ravens were running away with the game. RUNNING AWAY!!!

     But after a loooooong half-time 'Beyonce' show, and then a stadium blackout for 35 minutes....NO KIDDING!!...the 49ers decided it was time to play ball! They ran a touchdown in the first 11 seconds of the 3rd quarter!!! O_O I started to worry a little at that point, and from then on it was a nervous nail-biter!

     But in the end, when the confetti started to fly...

      ...Joe Flacco...alias 'Joe Cool'...and the Baltimore Ravens pulled it off!!! ^_^ Hubby and I did a 'WE WIN!' high-five because we both wanted the Ravens to win!....wherein he came in for the high-five and almost took my arm off, y'all!! Grrrr!...Apparently that high-five thing isn't quite perfected to be effective when he's really excited! lol

    The only other news this morning is that I finally sold one of my crocheted rings in my Wuglyees shop!!!! :-) FINALLY!...

      I was beginning to think that I was gonna have to start wearing those rings myself!! :-] One ring down...a whole lot more to go! :-]

You Probably Don't Care!

I know you probably don't care,
but I will tell you anyway!
I mean, I have to talk about it.
It's what I do most every day!

I know you have your own things going,
and my things? You could care less.
But I have to spill it, talk,
share, converse, chat, or confess.

Don't you have some days like that,
when you just 'let down your hair'?
Well, today was that for me,
and it's okay if you don't care!

As you see, it didn't stop me.
I'm still talking, cracking wise.
You don't have to read about it.
You can cover up over your eyes.

Another Pancake Sunday Breakfast Success Story!

      Aren't they pretty?! :-) ... And, believe it or not, they tasted almost as good as they looked! ^_^ ... I'm only sorry that you all couldn't be here to have eaten a bite or two of them with me....Okay! That wasn't the 'total' truth...I'm glad I had them to myself!! If I had shared a bite or two with you all, there wouldn't have been enough syrup left for me to truly enjoy my bite or two! LOL
 

 
     Although, I could've been a bad host and let you have a whole plate of your own...of the 'bad' batch that came off of hubby's skillet! ^_^
 

     After I saw these, I fought him for the other plate!! LOL... I pretended to be the Baltimore Ravens...the winners of today's 'Super Bowl' game! ^_^ I love the San Francisco 49ers, but I don't think they're gonna even make a good showing today!...That's my story anyway. I'll let you know if I'm right tomorrow. ^_^ Either way, with all of the 'back stories' of the players (two brothers coaching the two teams, a long time player's very last game, etc...)...and the commercials, it's gonna be a hum-dinger!! ;-)
     I hope I'm still awake for it after filling myself up on this 'HUMONGOUS' breakfast hubby made this morning!! O_O
 

      If I ate all of the pancakes, ham, egg, and grits he made, I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes open this afternoon for the meeting, or be ready for 'kick-off' this evening for the 'big game'!!...Not to mention the homemade meal we had last night!...Chicken wings and gravy, brussel sprouts, and coconut cream jello pudding pie, with added coconut! ^_^

    But let me just say that with the added coconut...and the added whip cream...it was DELICIOUS!!!! :-] ... I may have to give up eating food for a week to get my palate ready for 'normal' again, but this weekend's food fest will have been well worth it!! ^_^

     Okay, I need to do a little crocheting, and take a nap before my meeting...For those of you who are Jehovah's Witnesses, enjoy the meeting today. Is The Television Putting Off A Gravitational Pull?

     Yes, People, it's gonna be one of 'those' conversations!! ^_^ I have to. I just HAVE to!!! It's one of those situations where a certain something has been happening for quite a while in my household, and now is getting worse...and it's starting to happen that my relatives, girlfriends and everybody I know are starting to complain about the same thing happening in their households!!...My girlfriend said: "You should do a blog post about it!"...and here we are! :-]

   What is the 'certain something'?...It's the seeming gravitational pull from the television to my husband's brain!!...And just to be clear, my husband doesn't actually watch that much television. He much prefers to be doing anything else, in fact!...like working in the yard, strolling through the gadget section of any department store, draping himself across the sofa for a nap! LOL...Okay, we have that in common! LOL...But whenever the television is on he becomes ZONED OUT...practically deaf to the world around him!! O_O

     I'm noticing that as the years go by I'm having a harder and harder time getting his attention when the television is on! I literally have to turn it off in order to tell him anything I expect him to remember....or else end up having a half an hour conversation about what he 'knows' I didn't say!....Ugh!

     With the 'Big Game' coming up on Sunday...I'm talking about the big 'Super bowl game'!...I'm trying to get myself ready to have hours of zoned out time...but this time 'with' him!...in front of the television...*'Virtually' we'll be sitting in the stands right there in New Orleans though..just saying! ^_^ Our weekend continues!! *Wink! Wink!*...At any rate, I know it's not gonna be 'quality' time where we talk about our deepest thoughts, or even chat about foolishness like we usually do! The gravitational pull of the television is not gonna allow for that!! LOL

    I'm gonna be good with that! :-) ...but when there's no more Super Bowl I know I'm gonna be back to having my husband with the brain that's susceptible to the gravitational pull of the television!! LOL

    It's so weird to me! And apparently it's weird to a lot of my female friends too!...No, I'm not 'man-bashing'! I love the men in my life! But this is all about 'truth'....and the truth is: from elderly men, to middle age, to teenagers, to 5 year olds...across the board, in my experience...the males in my life have a problem with attention span when the television is on! What's up with that?! O_O

    Hubby can walk into the room where I am, talking to me about some subject or the other that 'he' wanted to talk about!, and if the television is on...he starts talking in halting sentences....that now make no sense to me!...because he was immediately drawn, and is now staring directly into the lights of the television!!!!!

    I wait....and wait....try to figure out what the rest of the sentence might have been.....get frustrated....and turn off the television!!...Whereupon he says...every time!..."Why did you do that?"...but  then he proceeds to finish the conversation he started...making perfect, and smooth, sense!!! ^_^

     Don't get me wrong, I understand how certain television shows can get you completely zoned in!...For years, when I was doing the 20-minute work-outs along with the people on television, my husband was at a loss as to why I just didn't exercise! He didn't understand why I needed to exercise 'with other people on television'! ^_^

     Between you and I, in that case I think it was the rhythmic steady beat of the music that zoned me in...not the actual exercise! LOL...Whatever! ^_^

     But my husband gets zoned in 'NO MATTER WHAT'S ACTUALLY ON' the television!! He even sits and reads the written 'crawl' that goes across the screen during news shows!...I've found him staring at the television at times when I've turned down the sound to collect a thought while writing my blog!!...He's probably staring at it over my shoulder right now!! LOL

     If I ask: "What's that about?"....he says; "Oh...I don't know."....Huh!? o_O "You mean you're sitting there staring that intensely into the television, and you don't know why?!"....All I get back is blinking!!! LOL...*shaking my head*...All I can say is...I'm glad there are sporting events, and now crocheting, that he and I can share...with our zoned out selves! Otherwise this would be a sad sad 'Ugly Wuglyee' household!! ^_^

     I've heard NUMEROUS similar 'zoned out' stories from my girlfriends about the men...young and old...in their lives!...One of my girlfriend's five year old son stares into the television mindlessly, and every time she cuts it off he says: "Why for you do that, mommy?!"...Sounds familiar! LOL...Does it sound familiar to you?! ^_^

     Okay...off to get my day started. And yes, 'zoned out' crochet will be involved! ^_^ Maybe even something with buttons!! :-)

This Time 'Virtual' Date Night Is A Long Weekend!

    I was gonna try to play coy about where hubby and I were going for our 'virtual' date night, but my mind is so in football gear that you'd probably be able to figure it out anyway! ^_^ We're heading south...to 'The Big Easy'!...New Orleans, Louisiana!! :-)

    We're heading that way for a long weekend...ending on Sunday with the Super Bowl football game between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers!! :-) ... Yes, I know. Neither one of these teams is from New Orleans. :-)) ...New Orleans' team, the New Orleans Saints didn't make it to the big game this year. New Orleans is just playing host this year.

     Okay, let's face it...I don't know why they chose New Orleans for the Super Bowl...except that those New Orleans people know how to throw a big party!! And the Super Bowl is a BIG party!! ^_^ 

      New Orleans knows good music when it sees it. And it knows good food too!!...

       YUM! :-) ... And speaking of yum, hubby started our date out right this morning with a 'smash-up' breakfast in bed!...*That's part of the reason I'm so late posting this morning!* :-) He made me steak with gravy, fresh string beans and a mashed potato for breakfast!! ^_^ It was sooooooo good!!...I think things bode well for lunch, and then for dinner in New Orleans! ;-) ... One thing's for sure...I'm gonna need at least one more nap before the day is over!!...

     Before I take off to get my day started though, let me share the treasury I found my red boutonniere in...

      It's entitled 'NATTY or nice? Some men can be both!'...
 

      According to Richard, the treasury's curator, 'natty' is defined as  "trimly neat and tidy: smart, as in  'natty clothes' or a 'natty' dresser"...I find it kinda cool that my men's boutonniere is considered to fit the category of 'natty'. :-]
     Now I guess I have to start thinking about getting my hubby a pair of these 'natty' Vintage 1950's 60's Men's Wayfarer Style Mario Deluxe Brand Eyeglasses!! :-) ...

Where would we be without music?
Don't answer. I don't want to know!
The thought of no guitar or back beat,
no humming or tapping of toe!

What umph would there be to commercials?
What excitement for games yet to play?!
What missing movie's anticipation
that the  'Dun Dun Dun' would happily say?!

How would new mommies rock their babies,
and calm them to put them to sleep?
Without music the world would be screaming,
but the ocean of silence would be deep.

So, where would we be without music?
In a world with no brain cells to link.
In a big room with nothing to do,
and a bunch of poor folks that don't blink!
