This Is Crochet Flowers 'Run-A-Muck!' :-))

Well, what do you expect from a girl who has been looking at a mint green crochet baby blanket for waaaaay too many days?! ^_^ I had to crochet a flower...I HAD TO!!! LOL

Don't laugh at it, Y'all!! That's not nice!! :-)) Y'all let 'ME' laugh at it!!...Call it creative license! LOL

Besides...I think it's kinda colorfully cute!! ^_^ You're certainly not gonna find another one anywhere like it!! :-) It's made of a lot of my leftover threads from other projects. And, because of that, it fits my wuglyees shop motto..."Where nothing is wasted--not even the ugly!" :-)
I even added one of my vintage buttons to the center of it! :-) Now I just have to decide whether it will be a necklace, a keychain, a brooch pin, or an accent flower for one of my pocketbooks or hats or something!...I'm open to ideas or opinions...in case you were wondering. :-))

Oh Yeah!...I have to add a backing to it too! :-)

This isn't the only flower I've been working on today though. I also made a few flower key-chain dangles...to give to my customers as free gifts. You know, a little flower loop to hang around with their keys. ;-)

They're not very big, but they make a big 'color noise' when they're hanging out with some keys. :-))

Other than colorful crochet flowers, it's been all about the baby blanket!!...

As you can see, it's coming along nicely! :-) I still have a long way to go, but the middle is more than half way done!! :-) Let's not talk about the edging just yet! O_O That's gonna be a whole lot of work too!!...*sigh*...No. Let's not talk about that just yet!

Okay...that's it for today. Except for hummingbirds, growing leaves, sunshine, and quiet...lots of quiet! :-) ...there's nothing else going on around here. But, rest assured, as soon as anything exciting happens, you'll be the first to know!! ^_^ Don't hold your breath! :-)) Have a good Moday, Y'all!! ♥

Anything You Can Do...I Can Do Better....?!!

Hello!...and Happy Saturday to you! :-] Easy for me to say, right?! I'm just getting up! ^_^ But not so easy. I actually didn't sleep restfully last night. It probably was the remaining jabs from all of that rain we got yesterday!
Anyway!...this morning it's just beautiful!! Sunny, bright, 'hummingbird happy' weather! ^_^ Good weather to loosen muscles and bones, and digest pizza from a well eaten 'virtual' date night! ^_^ And on that note...*burp!*...let me move on! LOL

I thought I'd just show you the three eye-catching items I found in some Etsy shops that inspired me to make three 'better'....well, I tried anyway!...crochet boutonnieres! :-) Starting with these gorgeous earrings!!!...

They were so pretty that I had to show you them from three different angles!! :-) Soooooo pretty!!...And here is my crochet 'pumpkin boutonniere' counterpoint...

I didn't try to put any Howlite color on them....that would've made them look like 'knock-offs'. O_O What?!......Are you laughing?!!.....Anyway! I left the white stone part to these cute earrings! :-)

I didn't want to leave the white idea alone all together though...That's when I saw these!!...

Aren't they pretty?!....I'm sure they taste pretty good in green tea or coffee too! ^_^ ...But for the sake of my theme today, I won't talk about their taste. I'll talk about their look!!...So cute that I decided to do it 'better'...in my crochet way! :-) ...

Okay! Okay!...It's not 'better'!!! ^_^ And trust me when I tell you...cotton thread...no matter what color it is!...doesn't taste good!...uhhhhhh...Don't ask me how I know that either!! LOL

     Moving on!!! ^_^ INSPIRATION!!!!...

      My attempt at 'better'..sorta, kinda!...

What do you think?!...And yes, I know, there's no such thing as 'better' when you're comparing wonderfully creative with fabulously talented...which all of these Etsy artisans are!! :-) But the 'trying' is what gives me fuel...and direction....What else am I gonna do while I'm sitting and looking out the window, and when my stomach is so actively trying to digest some leftover pizza?! ^_^
Have a good Saturday, and weekend, Everybody!! :-)

We Are Brazil Nuts Now!!

   (GoFoInFa)
First thing I want to do today is thank all of you who left me comments and messages yesterday about your 'doctor horror' stories too! I feel a kinship....and a pity for every single one of us!! ^_^ Ooooo! You guys are funny!!! Hubby was funny too, when he was reading my blog and remembering the incident about the Proctologist. He kept re-laughing every few minutes! LOL
And when he got to the part about my 'menses' he read it as 'Mensa' and got this puzzled look on his face! That got me to laughing the same way he was!!!! ^_^ I said: "Yes, I was 'late' and I'm a genius!!! ^_^ He didn't get it until I told him what both words meant!! Ha! Ha! Every few minutes we would look at each other and start laughing like some kind of eye-watering crazy people!! LOL
Next, I just want to quickly recap what  a beautiful day yesterday turned out to be....even though it started with the doctors...and had a little rain along the way. :-))
       (TurtleDoves)
Me and Miss Jane Austen finished our meeting. :-) I can no longer say that I've never read a book of hers. Pride and Prejudice is now in my repertoire of books that I've read. :-) It was very very good! I was thoroughly drawn into the writing, even though I was a little nervous that my 'See-The-Movie-First'...a million times...habit was gonna put me at a disadvantage as far as liking the book was concerned!
But nothing could be farther from the truth! It was delightful from beginning to end...Well, almost to the end! While it was still a great book, I didn't like the way the ending happened. It seemed to leave her style of easy-flowing conversation, and go to a let's-hurry-up-and-wrap-this-book-up kinda style. I mean, everything was said, but it didn't seem as focused at the end as it had been throughout the rest of the book.
Although that also could have been more about 'me' than about the book! :-)) I had other things on my mind....like planning for a trip to Brazil!!!! :-) I had to finish a book, crochet to try to finish a shawl/scarf....which didn't happen, and put together some food and music plans for a little 'Date Night' ambiance!
So.....Let's talk about Brazil!!! The food!!.....pão de queijo (cheese buns)...
     ...A Vatapá...
       ...Pastel...
     ...and Bolo de rolo!
Not to mention Brazilian Chocolate candy, Brigadeiro...
...which of course I 'HAD' to mention!! ^_^ YUM, huh?!!.....Well, we don't know!! LOL We weren't able to get our hands on any of it!!!! ^_^ But that's alright. Part of the fun of our 'Date Night' is learning about other places. We learned a lot about Brazilian food. We 'WILL' have some...eventually! :-)
What we actually had was catfish and steak. We satisfied ourselves by finding out that beef and fish were indeed Brazilian fare! :-))....And what else did we enjoy last night?! The gift our friend gave us as an Anniversary gift!...
Hey! It was about a bird from Brazil!! ^_^ Funny!!!!!...Here's a little trailer so you'll see what I mean!

We watched it for a while on the computer, but the sound wasn't loud enough. So we didn't finish it...and we have something else really important to do today. So....maybe tomorrow morning we'll finish watching it...for breakfast! LOL
We also did something else last night!...Listened to and watched videos of Brazilian inspired music!! :-) Here's a little listen!...

And if you really want to see a Brazilian guitar duet that was so fun to watch, click HERE! I was gonna share it, but it wouldn't allow an embed code to appear. But trust me, it's worth clicking to look at!...So fun! :-)...Okay, I'm off to stare a little more at the backyard. I just heard the robin making all kinds of noise!! When I looked up to see what the ruckus was all about........Awwwww! A huge red and black Cardinal was on the branch looking directly in the window at me, and a large furry brown rabbit was hopping across the lawn!! NO KIDDING!!!
I love my backyard!! Rain is coming and I'm still smiling....and heading off right now to have some coffee and sweet leftovers! ^_^ I hope you have a good day! I know I will!!!

Warm, Appealing Turquoise.......Ants?!

If you saw yesterday's post you know that there was more to the story of the Arnold Swartzeneggar sized ants in my backyard. And you also know that I wasn't able to load anymore photos to that post for some reason! But as you can see by the beautiful fine art travel photograph in my header photo, {I stand each day on the shore by honeytree} I'm back in the 'talking and photo loading business' this morning. ^_^
And before I get into the ant story...which is not a pretty story...I thought I'd show you something that 'is' a pretty story. A pretty story created by Cindy, of CinLynnBoutique, by way of a pretty Treasury entitled Warm, Appealing Turquoise!
It's so calming to look at....and after what the ants are doing, I needed some calm!!...Let me show you a few things that are in this treasury, starting with the item of mine that she chose, my Crochet Hand Sandal Bracelet.
I am so thankful to see my little creation getting some love. :-) Thank you Cindy!

Oh Yeah.....speaking of bird feeders....*sigh*...the ANTS! I mentioned to you yesterday that we got some 'help'...Ha!...with the ants. The ANT GUARD. Well, say hello to the ANT GUARD.
I know....it's not a very good picture. (which is probably just as well!!) I'll tell you what it's suppose to do though. The ants can come down onto the top of the dome, and they can go around the outside of the dome. When they go into the hole underneath the dome, where the connecting loop to the feeder is, they can walk around the inside of the hole. But when they go up to try to crawl over and down the wire there's water in the cup!
So, the idea is that the ants are not able to....or are not 'suppose to' be able to...reach the middle loop. It's surrounded by water...
        But....therein lies the problem?!...*sigh*....
These ants were spinning their wheels, going round and round the dome, while my hummingbirds came and sipped away at the nectar in peace, until....*sigh....Well, you have to see for yourself...{If you're squeamish about creepy-crawly things DON'T WATCH! LOL

They couldn't figure out a way to get to the loop inside the dome, so they could follow it down to the nectar. Their little ant bodies were too small to bridge the gap because it was surrounded by that cup with the water in it.
So, they called in the 'Big Guns', the Arnold Swartzeneggar sized ants, the ones that had been to Ant and Body Basics Boot Camp! LOL They were so large that all they had to do was lean over and grab the loop!....Grrrrr!
Once they figured that out, it was all done. As the day went on we noticed more and more ants down on the actual feeder! Then we saw the whole thing for ourselves, as to what they were doing. They posted 2 or 3 of the 'Big Guns' on the feeder, and when the 'little guys' came they would lay their bodies across the divide and let them walk across and climb down...*sigh*...Using your own body like a bridge...It was genius!!!...Who woulda 'thunk' it?!!.....Ants, that's who!!!! LOL
Back to the ant repellent!....I'm sorry, but the hummingbirds deserve some peace too, don't they?!....Don't they?! ^_^
I'm not gonna focus on it. I've got some crocheting to do. Nothing major, but I'm working on using up some leftover yarn....making flowers of course! :-)
         Sure wish I had some of that fruit from the open market right now! {Photo via Hither and Thither}
Have a good day Everybody!! May it be ant-less!! ^_^

Monday Is Creeping...Marching...Dancing...and Flying!!

I've got a little hummingbird feeder problem! `'O_0'` I'll tell you about it in a minute, but...first, let me stop right here and say CONGRATULATIONS to the happy couple!!! Sara, of the blog Russet Street Reno, just got married!! If you wanna see how much fun their wedding day was, just follow the link over to her blog HERE to find the rest of the photos!
And let me just say, they know how to take a wedding photo!! :-)) Here's a sample...
....Looks like a fun wedding, huh?! ^_^
Anyway...back to my problem. `'O_0'` You know how I've been watching my hummingbird feeder like a hawk?! Well, not like a hawk exactly, but like an eagle...I've been Eagle-eyed! LOL
Well, while staring the hummingbird feeder down this weekend, me and hubby saw a big ant on the feeder, going round and round the base. (You can see him in the header photo.) We didn't think much of it at first, until...
...we saw a whole line of ants crawling along the branch, in single file! O_0 They went up the tree, along the branch, grabbed a hold of the hook to the hummingbird feeder, and followed it down to the feeder!!
Our first thought was: "Great!!...Grrrr!...all this trouble to put nectar out there for the hummingbirds, and the ants...one by one...are gonna come along and tote it all away!!
Hubby went outside to get a close-up photo of our little thieving visitors, and....OH NO!!!!!! He saw this...
...One of the ants had gotten inside the feeder...and died!! ;'_'; ... I don't know why I was so upset about an ANT! But, for some reason, this made me really upset!
And then it got worse!!! `'()'` When hubby looked closer, to photograph the line of ants toting our nectar away, he realized...they were going "in", but they weren't coming "out"!!!! O_0
`'O_0'` YIKES!!! It was terrible!!! It was full of dead ants, just floating in there!! I don't know how many. And I don't wanna know! I don't even wanna think about it!!
Thankfully, the line of ants heading to the feeder has stopped now,....and the hummingbird has been back a few times since then....Is he eating nectar soaked ants now?!!!!!! O_0
I know! I know! The circle of life thing.....but I'm not liking this one bit! It's taking all of the joy out of my hummingbird watch!! O_0 What would you do in a case like this?! I'm not ashamed to tell you....I'm at a loss! Do I let the hummingbird "go at it", or take the feeder down?!
Right now, I'm just not gonna look at it....So, needless to say, there will be no hummingbird picture today!...even if he comes up to the feeder with Groucho Marx glasses on and does a hummingbird jig! LOL Maybe I'll have a better sentiment about it tomorrow....Maybe.
Speaking of jigs though, I got some footage on my camera last night of Mr. Wug "cutting a rug" (that's dancing, for non-Southern speaking folks! LOL). We were getting ready for bed and I decided to play my song by Paul Simon, the one I posted yesterday, one more time before I 'knocked out'.
Sitting in bed, waiting for hubby to finish cleaning my C-Pap machine (I have Sleep Apnea, and I have to wear the C-Pap machine contraption on my face at night), I noticed that he was getting distracted by my music. I grabbed my camera and asked him if he wanted to dance! :-] ...I "bed-danced" while I filmed him!!! ^_^
I was gonna upload it for you to see it, but it uploaded sideways and I couldn't figure out how to turn it right-side-up...It's still funny!...Except for my 'witchy' laugh cackle. LOL Who knew I sounded like THAT when I laughed?!!!! YIKES!! Almost makes me wanna stop laughing...forever! LOL.......NOT!!!
     I don't care what it sounds like! We were having some fun! That's more important for my memories. :-] {If you wanna see it, email me and I'll give you the sideways Youtube link. I don't have it set so that the public can see it. Only people I give the link to. :-)}
Okay, back to my peaceful backyard...
.....Uh OH!!!! Guess what else we have in the backyard now?!....
....a Woodpecker!!!...*shaking my head*...where was he when the ants were climbing this tree?!!!
Looks like this tree is starting to be like New York City is to Entertainment people! It's a "hub of activity"!...because look who else is loving this tree....HERE...a Cardinal!!
So, that was how my weekend went! How about yours?!...Spill it!! :-]
