Bird Wars...On Pancake Sunday?!!
Apparently the birds in my backyard got a memo from somewhere that said that more bad weather was on the way...or something!...because this morning there's some kind of battle going on for the remaining suet in the feeder...Some kind of bird war!...Boy, are they noisy this morning!! O_O
I'm in here trying to enjoy my breakfast...without the pancakes...(long story) and outside my window 'Chubby', 'Pouchy', 'Ze-cap' the woodpecker, and 'nim'...^_^... are battling for what seems to be something like a 'this-may-be-my-last-meal' territory space!! LOL Oh, if only I could replay...in writing...the voice-over conversation, that hubby and I just did, both of us representing one of the bird players. ^_^
The conversation ended with 'Chubby' telling the pushy woodpecker, 'Ze-cap', that he better back off or he'd "put a cap-ful of bird food in his tail"!! LOL...What can I say...my backyard bird crew don't play!! LOL Well...they don't play in 'this' kinda weather anyway!! This is the kind of weather where you have to protect your stash...AT ALL COSTS!!...I understand! Grrrr! I have some 'fiddle faddle' in my stash right now that I have to keep my eye on!! LOL
Anyway!!!!...needless to say, hubby and I are not going anywhere this morning! And our meeting is not until 3 this afternoon now that we're starting a new year! :-) ... The temperature outside is 7!!!!....seven!!!!...SE....VEN!!! O_O That makes two days of ridiculously low temperatures here in our area! And...yes!...I know it's been colder in the mid-west...I'm sorry. :-( I have much sympathy for you!
These are the kind of temperatures that make men start talking about things like 'meggins'!! LOL Even my husband was talking about them this morning! Ha! Ha!...At first I was confused. He said: "I think I may have to get me some meggins." O_O I said: "What?!....Who is Meghan?"
He said: "No! Not Meghan!...Meggins...you know, men's leggins!!"...Ohhhhhhhh! ^_^ ...{Between you and I, I thought maybe I was gonna have to take some attitude training from the birds in the backyard, and figure out how to 'put a foot in a Meghan!' LOL...Sorry......the bird violence is getting to me!! ^_^}
I think it's time to go back to bed! LOL...after I eat my breakfast I mean...
No...it's not pancakes...*sigh*...I lost the pancake battle with hubby this morning. :-( I guess I didn't have enough attitude!...or I didn't speak up fast enough (considering my 'Yes, I'll have some!'...'No! I don't want none!'...reputation of late with the pancake situation. ^_^)
Whatever!!...I'm good with bacon, breaded chicken pieces, grits, and eggs!! :-) ...
Besides....they taste like pancakes! :-)) ... Happy 'Pancake Sunday', Everybody! :-) Keep warm...and well-fed. :-))
Waffle Snob?!
I love the way the pancake runs
right off the side and down my plate!
But on a waffle it just sits
like sticky blocks in a crate!
I love the way a pancake looks,
like it's soft to the touch.
But that thing with lumpy grooves?...
I mean a waffle, not so much!
I like the way a pancake
almost melts in your mouth!
But a trip across my tastebud with a waffle?
...heading south!
Buttering a waffle
is like corn on the cob.
The ears are perked up,
but it's a messy, slow moving job!
One day I'm sure I'll like 'em,
if they ever stay warm enough.
But for now, let's just say,
Waffles get my nose rebuff!

"I Should've Known He Was Trying To Tell Me Something!"
Is the time for pretty flowers all over?!...I hope not! O_O But brrrrrrr! It is really cold this morning!...in the 30s! (Fahrenheit)...I guess it's time to turn the furnace up, and pull those covers up!
I guess I'm gonna have to stop looking out the windows for flowers now. I just have to keep making them for myself! ^_^ ...
This is one of the coral colored flower boutonnieres I made for my Wuglyees shop yesterday. I put a foldable buttonhole pin on the back of it...
The other two I made will have a brooch pin on one, and a clutch back on the other. I'm trying to be more flexible about fasteners...
Anyway I make them though, these flowers aren't gonna be growing outside, or be affected by the cold weather that seems to be setting in around here! ^_^
I should've known it was gonna be unusually cold this morning when I saw this little guy (below) staring at me from the back yard!...
What a cutie! ^_^
He was just sitting up on his hind legs, looking like he was waiting for someone to serve him dinner! LOL And he sat there for the longest time too!...You can't really see it in the photos, but he had a tuft of white under his chin that made it look like he was wearing a bib. LOL
This little squirrel must've been trying to stop and tell me something while he was taking a break from storing all of those nuts for winter!!...Brrrr! LOL I wish I had been more observant. Then I wouldn't have woken up freezing this morning, because I only had a sheet covering me!! O_O You never saw somebody grab a heavy blanket so fast!!!
Now it's time to get me a bite to eat, sip on some hot green tea, and get my 'grab bag' full of 'To Do' crocheting ready to go! :-) ...
This isn't the bag my thread is in (above ^_^) but I sure wish it was!!! :-)
And this isn't thread either (below)...
...but they 'are' gonna be used 'with' my thread!...to make some clutch back flower boutonnieres! :-) I just ordered them this morning. So, what is your day looking like?!...beading?...crocheting?...crafting?....reading?....or otherwise working?! :-) Whatever it is...Have A Good Day, Everybody!! :-)
Animals Everywhere
There are animals everywhere,
out-numbering husbands, kids and wives.
Do you see them when you travel?
Do you have some in your lives?
The chickens in the yard
step and jut their necks in stride;
Cackling birdie conversation
as you throw seed side to side.
Horses gallop down the hill,
through the field outside the gate;
Along the beach edge of the water
their strong legs will dominate.
All their waking hours
kittens tumble, jump and leap;
Then they curl up anywhere,
purr and breathe a peaceful sleep.
Baby chicks will follow
right behind their Mama's wings.
But they sometimes get distracted,
and their Mama's "Cluck!" then rings.
Doggies know their station.
They're secure in who they are.
They unguardedly will love you.
Just as quick, they'll chase a car.
There's many things that we can learn
by just watching what they do.
But let's not imitate their aggression,
and their need to balk and chew.
Let's recognize where we're alike.
Both of our constant needs for love,
And there is food, shelter, attention,
and much more we could speak of.
Yes, there are animals everywhere,
out-numbering husbands, kids and wives.
Giving lessons by example,
and so much meaning to our lives.
