Keeping Company With Friends!!

     I know I haven't been around much. Sorry Y'all. But I've been keeping a lot of company with the friends in the photos on this post. ^_^ They're a cool bunch of young, younger, cooler, and older friends who love my crochet, and love helping me show it off and try to sell it!! Woohoo!! 

     We're planning to try to get a lot of it out of my wuglyees etsy shop soon.....as in SELL IT!! :-)) I'll let you know how it goes!
 

     In the meantime, I'm crocheting hats, scarves, and slippers like a crazy woman, and I don't have much time online......Of course there's also time for an occasional nap and a tasty treat or two in between! ^_^
 

     I'll be catching up with you here and there though...especially if you have any questions for me! ^_^ My email is hooked into the comment section below, so ask away! At most it'll be 24-48 before you hear from me. ^_^ And I may even rhyme you something!! LOL

I Love A New Experience

I love a new experience!
No matter how it's learned.
A fact that's new to me,
or a new food that I've burned.

A place I've never been,
or a person I've not known.
A book I've never read,
or a gadget on my phone.

A song that's not my norm,
or a craft I've never tried.
A veggie fixed a new way,
whether boiled, sauteed or fried.

I love a new experience!
A new jolt for my old eyes.
To make my life worth living,
and each day a great surprise!

Unexpected Sadness...and Then A Smile

        Sometimes when the phone rings these days I get a little jolt of uneasiness. That's because I've been getting so much bad news lately. Friends going through chemo for cancer...going through stressful family issues...deaths.

       So when the phone rang yesterday, needless to say, I wasn't expecting good news! O_O But I wasn't expecting the news I got either!! :-( A girlfriend of mine...or should I say 'woman' friend, because we were real WOMEN together!...unexpectedly died!! :-( ...

     I won't get into the details, but suffice it to say...I was expecting to hear that any one of the other three friends of mine that I've been nervously waiting by the phone for to have died. Not her! :-( Actually, I didn't even know she was having a surgery! O_O That's how she was. Not wanting to worry anybody. :-(

     So, today I'm kinda sad. Remembering my dear, dear friend. Remembering wonderfully deep conversations with her...Remembering how she LOVED my cheddar-wurst and home fries with onions...Remembering how I had to teach her the 'correct' pronunciation of the word 'focus'. Her Spanish accent when she said it made us cringe and giggle every time!...until she found out what it sounded like...O_O...and forced herself to slow down and say it in slow motion every time after that! :-))

      I'm remembering how we talked endlessly about how crazy the world seems to be getting, and the beautiful future we both spiritually looked forward to when the whole earth was new again...

      I'm remembering how much I'm gonna miss those conversations, until I see her again. :-( ...

      *sigh*...Even tennis, crocheting, and music are gonna need a nap in between for a few days, while I get my 'sea legs' back under me again...

       Thankfully, because of other dear friends, I still have the ability to smile...

      When I saw this illustration (above) it really made me smile! :-] I think the reason was partially because I have a wall hanging, photo, that it reminded me of!...

 

     See what I mean?! :-)) This was given to us by another dear friend many years ago....So, I'm remembering a lot of friends today. Some with sadness. But always also with smiles...because there were, and are, always smiles! :-]
      I'll try to be less sad tomorrow. See you then...Have a good day, Everybody.

 Reasons To Smile

I don't really need a reason,
to let out a great big grin;
But I do from time to time,
just to exercise my chin.

Sometimes I do it just to see
what reaction I will get,
in the places where I've gone,
and the people that I've met.

Sometimes it's just for me!
To amuse some silly thought;
Or to show just how excited
I have been at what I bought.

Sometimes a smile can change my mood,
when weather forecasts make me blue;
Or when I see a baby playing!
Oh yes! Oh Yes! I smile then too!

Truth is, I really don't need a reason.
Frowns just,frankly, aren't my style.
I could sit and write about it,
But even that would make me smile.

          On this quiet Sunday morning, I wanna take a quick moment to breathe.......and then to talk about family and friends...And not just because of the new treasury that Laura curated either! :-) Although her new treasury  is about Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Wives, and Friends! ^_^

       It looks like a treasury full of things that would make great gifts for either your family members or your friends...My favorites were the shabby-chic-like mirror in the header photo,...and this beautiful hand-painted wine glass by LynetteSadowyStudios...

         I'm very honored that she thought one of my poems was worthy of her treasury. :-) And ironically, it's my framed poem entitled 'Reasons To Smile'!...

          As any of you who've been reading my blog lately know...hubby and I haven't had a whole lot of easy reasons to smile as of late!....We FOUND some!....Well, we made ourselves find some!...and we were given some!...given some by family and friends who know that life and how you live it is a choice after all! 

         But when you have some of the things going on in your life like we have lately, you have to also freely admit that there's nothing "easy" about smiling when it comes to some things!...That's just being 'real'! ^_^ But who was the lying coward that said that life had to be easy anyway?!...SHUT UP!! LOL

     

      Now, what was I saying?! O_O......Oh Yeah!....on this quiet Sunday morning, hubby and I would like to send a big shout out to my sister for allowing us to borrow her vehicle. Not only did she not inquire as to when she was gonna get it back, but even when hubby had a chain reaction highway accident in it...she still was more concerned for his welfare than the vehicle!

       When hubby drove her vehicle home yesterday, she was as sick as a dog!...Another victim of the cold/flu/THING/whatever it is!! O_0 ...And STILL...she got in the car and drove him back home!...25 minutes away!! O_O...I know that I've told you all about some issues me and my sisters have had over the last year or two, but it's times like this that make me realize why I keep trying to get close to them! 

       When the chips are really down, and it's either the world or us.....we all choose us! :-) ....White flags go up, loving care is given and received in the spirit to which it is intended, and after all enemies are battled and conquered..the war...so to speak...will resume! ^_^ At the moment we're all enjoying a "cease fire". LOL...It's so fun having a Love/Hate relationship with family, isn't it?!......NOT!....Right now though, it's all about the love!!...Enemies....SHUT UP!!!! ^_^

      As to my friends, "You Floor Me!" :-] However did we get fortunate enough to get friends who, while struggling through their own problems in life, have love enough to take the time and money they work so hard for, the hugs, kisses and prayers too, to share them so freely with us?!...Words cannot express what ease of mind you're giving us...daily! ^_^

      No, you're not removing all of our stress. And, unfortunately, we can't remove all of yours. But if we have to have stress in this world...which SOMEBODY has decided we do!! Ha! Ha!...it's nice to have the stress right alongside reasons to smile because of having great friends like you! ♥♥♥ We love you dearly!!!! And we look forward to the privilege in the future to bolster you up during your hard times, as you are so lovingly doing for us right now! :-)

      Okay.....what did you expect besides 'sap' when I started the post with "On this quiet Sunday morning"...?!! Ha! Ha! YOU know I'm never quiet!!! ^_^...But for those of you not needing sappy words to smile about, I leave you with this!...

          For the sake of conversation today, let's just say that my name is NOT Poetesswug. It's 'Pooh-Wug'...And further...I'm not gonna complain about anything!...Novel I know! LOL But no! No complaining!...Instead I'm gonna talk about one of my girlfriends. A girlfriend that I don't talk to you specifically about usually!

         Her and I have a once a week 'girlfriend date' where we just spend time together. We either have breakfast, giggle and talk, listen to music and sing and dance, or search the internet to learn new stuff! :-) ...It's a time of the week I look very forward to!

       I was telling hubby last night about the great 'girlfriend day' me and my friend had this week, and as I was talking about her I thought of 'Tigger' from Winnie The Pooh! :-) That's because she has such an upbeat and bouncy personality!... :-)

           
          And then, naturally...as a second thought...I thought of myself as 'Pooh Bear'! :-) Because I'm 'The Wug', bear mama to 'Baby Wug', and full of sweetness on occasion! ^_^ 
       But if I'm being totally forth-coming, and just for information's sake, I actually identify with ALL of the Winnie the Pooh characters in one way or another!...      

          

          ...In that I'm wise sometimes, like "Owl" who acts as a teacher...But Owl believes he's the cleverest animal in the wood, unlike me...no matter what you've heard!! :-)) The truth of his cleverness is seen in the fact that while he can spell "Tuesday",  he spells his own name as "wol"! ^_^ 

       ...I'm also sometimes like "Rabbit" who gets very mad when Tigger bounces on his prized garden...Or when hubby's cancel their Friday Date Night's...just saying!...And like "Roo" I can be childish, which I prefer to describe as child-like. :-) 

       ...Like "Piglet" I have a few self-declared talents, including poetry, crocheting, and the love of singing. And  I overcome my fears with the help of good friends. :-) ...Like "Pooh" I can be very friendly and thoughtful, but my love of sweet stuff can sometimes get me into trouble! LOL

       The only character I don't have 'as' much in common with is "Eeyore". He's ever-glum and pessimistic, and has trouble keeping his tail attached to his bottom....Wait a minute! I have been known to have problems with my bottom too! ^_^ 

      ....To end this trip through The 'Hundred Acre Wood', my hubby would be my Christopher Robin, best friend to the menagerie of "ME"! ^_^

      Now what was I talking about?!...Oh Yea! My girlfriend date day! ^_^ I was telling you how much I love the time I spend with my girlfriend!

          My girlfriend had been without power all week this week due to the surprise snow storm, and I wasn't sure she was going to come. But right on time she bounced in! She was all bundled up from head to toe, including long johns, :-] and had the coldest hands you ever felt, and was sporting the warmest heart you ever saw! :-)

       She was as happy to see me as I was to see her!....And happy to get into my warm house too I might add. :-)) We had tea, exchanged laughs and information....{some information was not so good. :-( I'll tell you about that at another time}...We listened to music, including some Barbershop Quartets and bluegrass! :-) We searched the internet for random stuff that informed us and gave us our itinerary for next week's visit! And when she left I had a crock pot simmering with smells that would make the securest onion cry! :-)

      Yes, I have lots of friends....I do! :-) Friends who are supportive and loving in all kinds of mental and physical weather...

         But not one of them can take the place of my bouncy, cheerful, 'Tigger-tastic' week-date friend! :-) She's in a category all her own! And, as I opine in my poetic way to her on as many occasions, and in as many ways, as I can...

         I know I'm not the only 'Wug' on the planet with a bestest friend like this one. You have them too. I just know it!
