Does Your Furniture Tell A Story Too?!

It looks like a simple chair, doesn't it?....well, set of chairs, because there's two of them. But they're not just chairs. They're little 'holders of a story'. And they've held that story for a long time. And now.....*sigh*.....what to do? What to do?! O_O

First let me tell you their story, and then maybe you can give me a little advice.

The story of these chairs is really the story of a friend of mine. A really nice lady who had a sad, sad life. She also had narcolepsy, and two impressionable sons she was trying to raise, in a household where her husband was extremely aggressive and abusive.

One day her husband decided that he no longer wanted to be with her, and he told her to leave. She was devastated! They had been married for many, many years. It hadn't been a good marriage, but she had found solace taking care of their home, and raising her boys, helping them become respectful and loving...to the extent she could anyway, under the circumstances.

When she told him that she wouldn't go anywhere without her sons, he beat her unmercifully and tossed her out the door. :-( She didn't have anything. Not her clothes, no money, no furniture, and not even her sons...Unfortunately, with narcolepsy, no skills, and no means to support herself or the boys, the law sided with leaving her sons with her husband. :-(

When I met her she was living in a tiny one room apartment that didn't even have a kitchen. She had a convection oven, a hot plate, a microwave...and a smile!...which, after I heard her story, was hard for me to understand!

She told me that after her husband tossed her out, her spiritual family had come to her rescue. She moved in with a family that lived nearby...so that she could keep an eye on her boys. She had no other recourse, at that point, anyway. And thankfully her husband was not abusive, physically anyway, with the boys. She had always been the one that was the target of his aggression.

Every day, when her husband went to work, she would go by and take care of things and talk to the boys...He became aware, at some point, that she was doing this, but didn't make a big deal out of it, also thankfully!...I think he must've needed the help and was just to mean to acknowledge it!

This situation went on like this for years until, one by one, her boys grew up, married, and left the home...Also during this time, she had gotten medication for her narcoleptic disorder, built up some self-esteem, and learned some skills to help her cope with her new life circumstances.

One day she went by when she knew he would be home. She wanted him to know that she was ready to move on. He had been saying he wanted a divorce for years and she had blocked his path every way she could. She told him that she wouldn't resist him anymore if he tried to get a divorce, and she asked if she could have a few personal things from the house.

He gave her her clothes and personal belongings right away, and said that if she came by with a moving van the next day he would let her have some of the furniture....a bed, sofa, dressers, etc...She was ecstatic!
But when she followed the moving van to the house the next day...all she found was these two chairs sitting in the driveway. O_O When she called him about it, he said that's all she could have...period!

She never really liked those chairs, and he knew it. But in this instance those chairs began to represent something much bigger to her...they began to represent that sometimes you have to just move on...that you can't force someone to feel for you in a way that you want them to feel, especially when they may not have the emotional wherewithal to do it! And they started to represent freedom.....acceptance of a new life...and strength!

So, how did "I" get the chairs?!...Well, she had taken these chairs with her everywhere she had moved to. But when she had moved into the small apartment where I met her, there was no room for them. There was barely any room in that apartment for HER! LOL So she had stored them at one of her sons' homes.
But there came a day when her son said the chairs were just in the way...and he said they were no good anyway!...By now he had nailed up the bottoms of them with wood even, to try to make them worthy of at least sitting in! But they still weren't all that great!...She didn't like that he had done that, but she didn't make a stink.
She couldn't bare the idea of them being thrown away though! So she asked me if I would hold onto them for her until she got a bigger place. I told her that I certainly would!...That was at least 18 years ago!

And as life happens, we've moved two or three times since then, far away from where she lived, and her and I, not being very very close friends, haven't kept in touch. But the story of her and her chairs has been with me the whole time!

Now, the chairs are battered and broken...having been moved around,...and moved around some more,...and having been sat in, and played in...and played on...by visiting friends, kids....and 'Baby Wuglyee' ^_^ for years now...I feel like it's time to let them go now, but I'm struggling with it because of their story. O_O

Just yesterday, I had hubby take the chair that's in the best shape over to an antique dealer to see if they had any value, and if I could maybe sell them to someone who would love them back to life! ^_^ But the dealer practically laughed my husband out of the shop! He said they were from the 50s or 60s, but they had no value whatsoever. He suggested...well, never mind what he suggested!! LOL

With our current situation, we really can't afford to have them re-done. I think they would be beautiful if they were. And  we don't have room for them in here anymore either...*sigh*...What to do?! What to do?!....At the moment they're making a nice place for 'Baby Wuglyee' to take a nap! :-] ....Does anybody want some chairs?!...No, really!...If you do, give me a call....They tell a story! How many pieces of furniture can do that?! :-)

Truth is....practically all of my furniture does!! ^_^ But I'll save the story of my wooden floor model TV, my heavy blue entertainment center, and my oak dresser with the missing sister piece, for another day. :-)) ...Have a good day, Everybody! (By the way, I apologize to those of you who are used to me putting up an earlier post. Blogger was being a real stinker today!! Grrr!)

Oh Yeah! This Girl Definitely Has A Story!

I hope the title of the post today didn't scare too many people off. Although if my regular post lengths haven't scared you off, you're loyal...and patient...and I love you! ^_^ And you don't have to worry. I'm not in the mood for "THAT" kind of story-telling today!...not 'today'! :-))
What the post title has to do with is a treasury. Another treasury done by Laura. And once again she has included my poetry! :-)

The title of her treasury is Pretty In Pink For Spring...

And her treasury is what will tell the story today...all in pretty pinks! :-) ... So, here we go: "Once upon a time there was a girl who just wanted to be pretty, and to buy and wear pretty things. Pink things!...

(Scrunched Top Sophia Clutch Bag by syl2830)

So she did.....The End!" :-)) ...Tomorrow...the story of blue! ^_^

Now let me tell you the story of flowers. Crochet flowers! :-)

You remember these three crochet flower necklaces, right?! (above)...I'm still debating about a button for the one on the left...but even so, I've moved on to pinker and oranger and yellower fields!...

Forgive the dark photos...like you have forgiven all of the other 'jacked-up' photos I've taken! LOL (It was too dark in the room to take them, but I didn't want to disturb my hubby with a crazy thing like 'lights'! ^_^)

As you can see, the bud of the flower isn't sewn together yet, and the backing is not sewn in place yet, and the buttons are not sewn onto them yet!...I wasn't in the mood. And I'm not in the mood to tell you the story of why I wasn't in the mood. :-/ Maybe tomorrow....along with the story of 'blue'! ^_^

The next time you see these little 'babies' though, they'll be necklaces or brooches or boutonnieres! :-) ....And so will these (below)...

So, there's more to this story. To be continued.......! :-)

The last part of my story for today has to do with me thanking Sue of the blog SusanD1408 for the Versatile Blogger Award mention...

Thank you very much, Sue! :-) ...I'm gonna spare the readers of my blog...this time...from me going on and on...again!...with the story of 'ME'! ^_^ But please know that I am indeed honored. :-]

So, for today, that's the story!....You know how much I love to tell a story. :-) Have a good day Everybody!

Okay.....It's Time To Tell The Doctor Story Too!

     Isn't hubby's sunflower gorgeous?!!!.....Okay, so it's a distraction today. In fact, as we go along I'll need to show off a lot of what's going on in his garden. I need a 'lot' of distraction to tell this story!! LOL {I figured I'd give you a break from my 'Date Night' trips. ^_^ ...Brazil, in case you're wondering though. ^_^}
So, I alluded to a part of this story a little while back when I did THIS POST...My story is about my history with doctors. And let me just say right now that if I saw some person calling themselves 'The Wug', on some online blog, telling this story...I might think either " Boy! She sure knows how to 'spin a yarn' ", OR "Does she really expect for somebody to believe that?!"....but IT IS TOTALLY, EVERY WORD, THE TRUTH!!!
I think I mentioned to you all that I didn't start my 'Menses' (ladies, you know what I mean) until I was in my very late teens. Well, 'I' didn't start it! It was started by a...Yep! You guessed it...doctor!! I was going along my merry little old way, not even realizing I should have started my 'Menses' before then!!
Then one day I got these horrible constant pains in my belly and had to be rushed to the Emergency Room! It was Appendicitis.  Apparently I was about a half an hour from death! I had to have surgery to have them removed..."Bye, Bye, 'Penses!"...But that's not the part of the story that I'm focusing on!
When I was filling out the form in the hospital, it asked when I had my last 'Menses'. Ummmmm...."Did I have a Menses for dinner?! LOL I didn't know what they were talking about!! When I asked the nurse what it was, she laughed...OUT LOUD! She thought I was joking, because of my age!!
After she saw the look on my face, she figured out that I wasn't kidding. A little pill was given to me, and a doctor's appointment made for me straight out of the hospital. ♫ Me.....and my 'Mennnnnnses' ♫ (To the tune of 'Me and My Shadow') have been battling friends ever since! LOL
If that was my only doctor story it would be great! But no! And take a deep breath....pretend you're chasing a dragonfly in a field or something.... ^_^
    (kushun55)
I had a dentist that I went to that I LOVED!! He talked me through every single thing he was doing on every visit I went to! He told stories, and giggled, and gave me gifts when I left every visit. His staff and his other patients loved him!! And I did too!....A year after I met him I got a letter saying he had died in a freak accident. He was pulled into a machine he was riding, while doing something with his crops in a planting field in his off time. `'_'` On to another dentist....*sigh*
This dentist was nice, but not like the other one. And...YIKES!...he had to give me my very first 'Root Canal'!!...4 or 5 weeks of visits, messing with the same tooth!! Before the very first part of the procedure was going to be done, I asked if my Insurance would pay for all of these visits and the 'crown' that would need to go on top of the tooth afterward ($800.00!!!). He 'supposedly' called the Insurance company, and told me they said yes!
At the end, right before he was about to put the crown on, he asked for a check for the $800.00! O_0 I reminded him that he had said it was covered by Insurance. He said: "Well, he had been mistaken." And he said that he would need the $800.00 IN FULL before he would finish the job!!!....Grrrrr!
I refused to pay, and put the ball 'back in his court'. He gave me a plaster crown (that lasted for several years, by the way), and I never went back to him again!!
And there were puzzling incidents with doctors over the years too! For instance, I had some blood work done at the hospital one time, because of a health issue I was having. They did the blood work on a Friday and told me to call back to the hospital on Monday for the results...So I called on Monday.
       The nurse was acting all nervous. She said she couldn't give me the results, but there was...in her words...."something funky going on with my blood"!! `'O'` She said to call my doctor in a couple of days. They were going to be forwarding the results to her!! {Now, you can imagine the depths and heights that this Wuglyee brain went in a whole two days!!!!...PHEW!!}
I nervously called the doctor at the suggested time. I asked for the results......and she said: "Everything was fine!"......Huh?!!!! O_0 I told her what the hospital had said, and she said: "No, there's nothing like that on the report!" (I've been wondering about that now for years!!! LOL)
Also, In another test I had done at a clinic....a barium enema (colon test)...just as the technician was probing (never a good time...or a good word!!), and looking at the viewing screen of my insides, the assistant, in a panicked whisper, said to her: "Did you see that?!!!!" The technician shushed her.
I said: "What is it?! `'_'` She said: "You can talk to the doctor right after we finish. She'll explain the results to you.".....Again with the 'talk-to-you-later-You-freakazoid' talk!!!....And...you guessed it!...the doctor said: "Everything's fine!"...All these years I've been convinced that there's some conspiracy going on about my body!!! ^_^ And yet....I'm still breathing!
Nope! That's not the end yet!! LOL ... I've had three other great doctors (General Practitioners) who, after I became their patient for a year, or so, proceeded to pack up their doctor bags forever!!! O_0 One moved out of the state to start another practice with her husband over 1200 miles away. One moved out of the country...to Switzerland! And one completely left her profession all together!!...Uhhh...Is it me?!!....As you might imagine, I'm a little paranoid about meeting new doctors!
   (Carapace)
That doesn't mean I don't still keep trying though!...In fact, when I moved to Massachusetts I waited on a list for almost 6 months to get a good doctor. Or so I thought! On the very first visit she was non-communicative, brash and cold. In fact, after a 'Pap Test' she left the room...with me still in 'The Position'...and I never saw her again!! About 5 minutes later the nurse assistant came in the room and was surprised to see me still in 'The Position'. She thought I would be all dressed and waiting for further instructions!....."Uhhhhh...Nobody told me to do that!"
Not kidding...a short while later I got a letter from her office saying that she had died!!! The letter suggested that I try one of the other doctors that were included in the letter...Funny....they all appeared to have skulls and crossbones next to their names! ^_^...Okay, so that part was a joke! ^_^
My last real 'encounter' with a doctor was when I was in the hospital a couple of years ago. The whole story of that....PHEW!....is for another time! But I'll just mention that nurses kept coming in the room while I was sleeping trying to put stuff in my I.V., kept trying to forcefully give me new medications that I had never had before, and all kinds of other freaky stuff was happening too!!!
No kidding,....every night they tried, I'd make them bring me the paperwork on the drug, put my glasses on and read it, get terrified, refuse to take it, and go back to sleep! ^_^ I was never so happy to get out of a place in my life than when I got 'sprung' from there and was able to go home!!!!!
THE END!!!....Well, not really the end, because despite all of this craziness, I am still alive and breathing and telling the story!!!
Oh Yeah! The Proctologist story!!! ^_^ I almost forgot!...As you can deduce from the above stories, I've had some belly issues over the years. It's led to a lot of ultrasounds and colon tests, etcetera, etcetera, and so forth, over the years. But the day I had to go to the Proctologist, a NEW DOCTOR, actually turned out to be pretty hilarious!!! :-))
He had a small office, and a small waiting room...which I was happy to find empty! The fact that he was a 'man' doctor,...which I hadn't had many of over the years...and that he was going to be probing 'UP THERE' had me a little 'on edge'!
Hubby was doing everything he could to keep me calm...I got called into the room right away. (I was the only one there) The assistant had me undress, put a 'johnny' on, and hop up on the leather table that was covered with.....'butcher paper'....? O_0
Now, I was having some mobility issues. She had to help me every step of the way. Then she left, the doctor came in and did 'his probing best' job, and left me on the table...The assistant came in, in a hurry, and said she had another patient and couldn't stay to help me, but she felt I would be fine getting myself dressed.
I took her word for it, but considering my mobility, I wasn't too sure how I would be able to maneuver this!.....So, I 'shimmy shimmy shimmied' over to the side of the table. Hmmmm.....that butcher paper sure is noisy!!....I slid off the side of the table and riiiiiiiip!! O_0 The butcher paper ripped! And a large section was lodged.......YOU KNOW WHERE!!!! LOL I couldn't call the assistant away from another patient, back into the room to help me get dressed, and say to her:"Could you please dislodge that butcher paper from THERE please?!" YIKES!!
       (sarahkdesigns)
So, it took me 9 years..*an exaggeration!*...but I got dressed! And the butcher paper.......(which I named by the way. Hey! We became very intimate friends! LOL)...remained where it was, and a bit more disquised....inside my underwear.
The assistant came in with the doctor's instructions, and was very happy I was able to get dressed without her because 'the place was suddenly swamped with people!' After she went out again, I went to get my pocketbook and heard 'Crunchie, Crunchie, Crunchie' with every step I took!....*sigh*....The butcher paper was still making it's 'butchery paper noise' at the top of it's lungs....well, not lungs. But you know what I mean!
What was I gonna do?! I decided to just go.....as fast as I could....out of this place! After all, his office was small. When I opened the door to come out, I noticed that the little waiting room was FULL of people....sitting in total silence!
As I walked to get my card for my next appointment, and head toward my hubby...who at this point was staring back and forth from my face to my derriere, and had a puzzled look on his face (like a puppy with his head cocked sideways), I noticed that he wasn't the only one that looked like that!
Apparently I wasn't the only one that could hear the 'song of the moving butcher paper'. I was just the only one who knew what it was!!!! ^_^ When I got outside and answered hubby's question as to "What is that noise?!" He started laughing so hard I had to hit him to keep him moving forward to the car!! We got in the car...but we didn't go anywhere for about another 20 minutes. It took that long for him to compose himself enough to drive!!...UGH!!! :-]
      Now, seriously....THE END!! ^_^

I See and Say 'Nothing'!!!....I'm Catlike Today.

With the news being what it was yesterday, there's a whole lot of things I 'could' talk about today. I 'could' talk about the Casey Anthony verdict, or the hail-producing storms that came through our area last night, or the many accidents from stage 5 of the Tour De France bike race; Or I could show you some more of the vintage crochet patterns {I'll do that tomorrow}, or tell you the delicate story of my visit to the Proctologist! Ha! Ha!
But, seeing as I really don't 'want' to talk about some of those things, and I really 'SHOULDN'T' talk about others....O_0... I'm going to exercise my cat-like aloofness about all of that...
...Yes, about ALL of it!...and instead I'm just gonna show you some of the cutest cushions I've ever seen! They're hand printed hessian cats cushions by helkatdesign. I don't own a cat. I've never owned a cat! But I know cute when I see it! :-)) And the subject matter is much safer to talk about today.
If cats aren't your thing, you still might wanna check out the shop though, because there's cushions in there with pigs, butterflies, rabbits, chickens and fish too! :-)
And I also wanna share some of the things I liked in my new Country Living Magazine. :-]
I'm never disappointed when it comes. There's always beauty, good info and tips, and recipes for good food!! :-) I won't over-do it this time though. I'll just share a few things.
       I want this living room!! Actually, I want the lake where the cottage is, AND the cottage that holds this living room!...but I'll settle for just the living room. LOL {I guess I better really pay attention to the Watchtower magazine, this coming Sunday, about materialism! ^_^}
But seeing as this cozy summer cottage belongs to HGTV star Sarah Richardson and her family, the chances of me EVER getting it are 'NIL'!! It's on Canada's Georgian Bay too. So I would have had to move again too....Nope!...But I can look!! :-)
The trusty Ask a Country Vet article made me smile. :-)
It was a question about these adorable 'teacup pigs'. Someone wanted to know how big they get when they're fully grown....It's larger than an actual average sized teacup! Just saying. LOL
Hmmm...an article on how one couple turned their passion for flea-marketing into a thriving retail website!
        Okay....threepotatofourshop.com!!
I'm gonna have to go to that website and really check them out now!
And, of course, there's always cool recipes in here! This month there was Grilled Lobster Tails with Nectarine-Lime Sauce, Fried Green Beans, Baked Potatoes with Bacon Butter (just saying 'Bacon Butter' made me smile! LOL), Goat Ceese Tart, Edamame-Risotta Spread on Endive and Cucumber, and Pickled Heirloom Carrots...And No! I didn't take pictures!! LOL
And for dessert...Mixed-Berry Crumble with Honey-Vanilla Ice Cream and Peach-Almond Galette.....which I just 'HAD TO' show you!!! :-))
The ingredients include yellow cornmeal, sugar, unsalted butter, whole almonds, almond extract, honey, cinnamon, and peaches!
I'm gonna have to make this!...Or wrangle some tall handsome man to make it for me!! :-)) He loves making stuff that smells good and has fruit and sugar in it! LOL
Now wasn't that better than my Proctologist story?!! ^_^ Although, one day I'm gonna tell you that story....if I have to tie you down and make you listen to it! And you're gonna sit there and like it too!!! LOL
