You Want Some Snow?...Or An Artsy Hat?!!
If you look really closely at the header photo you'll be able to see the big snowflakes that are coming down in the backyard right now. And which, in fact, have been coming down all day!!...with only a slight hour or so long pause.
It's not bothering me though...because I have Melbourne Australia tennis...and artsy hat crocheting! ^_^ I also have soup and applesauce raisin bread!...Thank You, Honey!! :-) ♥
I also had a bit of studying to finish (my Watchtower magazine article for the meeting tomorrow), and some television shows I missed during the week...because of watching tennis! ^_^ I usually don't talk a lot about one of my favorite shows, 'Parenthood'. But it's been so good...especially the last few weeks...and it only has one more episode until it's gonna be off the air for good! :-(
I think the storyline caught me from the very first episode, with one part of the show's family chronicling the trials and joys of raising an autistic (or aspergers syndrome) child; another part of the family showing the challenges of being an interracial family; and the grandparents showing the stages of getting older {all the kids moving out, moving into another, smaller, home, severe illness, etc.}...And there were other thought-provoking family challenges too.
I've enjoyed the realness of the storylines...sometimes mirroring my own families trials at times!...and I've shed a few tears and laugh out loud moments along the way too! ^_^ Oh, if only families...including mine!...would just do things the way God intended!!! How much easier life would be!! :-) But...then what would this world do television shows about?!!! LOL
Anyway!...I've got much more important things to occupy my time anyway!! ^_^ One of those things including my latest artsy hat project!! :-) ...
Yes, it's finally finished! :-) And it was no 'picnic' either!! O_O
This particular triangle-shaped applique was made of a crinkly material covered with all kinds of artsy beads, pins, chains, and stuff! :-] But I had to figure out some kind of 'artsy' way to attach it to my hat!! O_O
If you look at the edges of the triangle, you'll see that I had to sew some crochet yarn through the material and the hat all the way around! O_O No small feat!!...and I've got sore fingers to prove it!! ^_^
But, in the end, I like it!! ^_^ It's clearly not the kind of hat everybody will want to wear, but there's got to be somebody out there...an artsy type!...that will just love the ease and one of a kindness of it!
When I put it on Shequita, she kinda reminded me of the woman in my wall hanging! :-) I can't find the post right now, to link it for you, but if I do...I'll come back and link it for you...{UPDATE: I found the picture of the wall hanging!! It's HERE!}
In the meantime, the new day of tennis in Australia is about to start and I don't wanna miss it!! ^_^ Also, I started a new artsy hat...the Mona Lisa inspired one I told you about a few days ago! :-) I'll keep you posted. ♥ Enjoy your tennis, fellow Australian Open followers!! ^_^
Snow
Yes, I knew you'd finally get here.
Every year you come around.
Even when you're not so punctual,
you always make it to the ground.
No, I'm not always glad to see you.
Every sighting leaves me cold.
Even when you're kinda pretty,
you always remind me that I'm old.
Yes, you make me kinda grumpy.
Every word of you brings woe.
But even when I call you "white stuff",
you still fall as poetic, snow

Sunday 'Take-It-Easy-And-Look-Around' Time!
Sitting here sipping on a cup of hot chocolate, and staring into the backyard at the slightly snow-covered ground, and the partially-eaten bird suet, while watching the weather man, out of the corner of my eye, talk about the snow and freezing rain that's on the way later today, I contemplate what this day will bring.
Winter doesn't officially come until the 21st of the month, but, oh yeah, it's starting to feel like winter!...I'm finding it harder and harder to get enough light through the windows to take decent pictures, and I'm craving soup, hot apple cider, and hot chocolate. :-)
It's funny how a 'time-of-year' can change the way you look at the world, but winter does that. It makes you wanna 'hunker-down'. :-) Instead of wanting to 'Go!'...you wanna 'Stay Put!' Instead of craving sun and beaches, you crave 'comfort food' and warm blankets....Or, at least, that's what it does to me! ^_^
It also makes me more aware of music....soft music. Creativity. Well-spoken words. Quiet. And nature....Is that why these particular items caught my attention in my Etsy scroll this morning?!.....Who knows! :-) That could just be the randomness of my brain! LOL But whatever!!...They caught my eye just the same! ^_^
I can also tell you that this time of year has made me give a second look to my scarves that I've made! I was thinking of deleting them from my shop all together, but I found some yesterday that are all nicely packed and ready to ship...but they were never listed in my shop!! O_O I had them ready, but needed to take photos of them...and forgot!! O_O
They are so soft and nice! I just can't leave them in my house! So I've decided to list them in the shop. I'm gonna ask a reasonable price for them. Enough to cover the shipping to...wherever! And if they sell I'll give thought to putting the others that are in my 'expired' list back in the shop too.
I took pictures of the six or so scarves that I found. I put one online in my Wuglyees Etsy shop yesterday. It's a gray and white alpaca and Caron Simply Soft yarn scarf...
I almost wasn't able to get it listed...My hubby kept talking about how 'NICE!' it was...and how 'NICE' it would look with one of his suits! ^_^ I've already made him all kinds of scarves. He's even given one of them away, because a relative 'fell-in-love' with it and begged it away from him! LOL But if it doesn't sell in the shop, I'll give it to him anyway. :-) He's certainly earned it by way of much cooking and back rubs. ^_^
I'm not sure if I'll list the other scarves today or not. I'm all about taking it easy right now. It's quiet. There's a little ground snow. Birds are pecking at the suet. The smell of muffins and ham are in the air. All of my Watchtower, for the meeting, has been studied. And I'm mulling over in my mind the conversations I've had with my sister and my father....Ahhhhh! Sunday. :-) ... Have a good one, Everybody. ♥

Is It Time For Them Already?!!!!
Yes it is! At least it is in my neck of the woods....It's time to open the drawer with the winter hats in it and 'get to wearing'!! ^_^ We've outrun the old 'snow' monster for as long as we could. Now...we're caught! Winter has finally arrived in Massachusetts! No more pretending that maybe winter was gonna skip us this year....Yes! Yes I have been pretending!....*giggle*
But just looking at the weather map this morning got rid of all my pretense. It could get rid of anybody's pretense...and could give you 'snow blindness'! Or pink and green blindness!
Most mornings there's this calming blue all over the weather map. The blue that says: "All is calm. There's no storm or bad weather in our vicinity"... but this morning there's tons of green, which means that rain is pouring down in some areas....and there's tons of white, which means that it's already snowing heavily in some areas,...and there's areas of dark pink around the white, which means: "Whoa Sally!!! Where are my long johns and gloves?! And pull me one of those winter hats out of the drawer, will ya!...I think we're in for it today!!!"
Me...I'm working on putting some winter hats 'into' the drawer...the drawer being the section of my Wuglyees shop that says Hats/Headbands! ^_^ I've put enough scarves in there for right now I think. Now I'm gonna work on putting some hats in there with colors that match some of my scarf colors.
I'd love to be as successful one of these days with selling things from my shop as pixiebell has been with her hats! She's had over 8,000 sales in her Etsy shop!! Impressive indeed!!...She's got talent...not only in knitting, but also in marketing. I followed a link in her etsy shop profile that showed Ty Pennington and his crew from Extreme Makeover Home Edition wearing her hats!!...Hmmmm....what celebrity could I send an 'Ugly Wuglyee' to?! O_0
Maybe I should market them the way Dprintsclayful marketed her really cute door pulls. Maybe I could make my hats look like candy somehow!!...Nah. That won't work...But I could send some candy wrapped up in the hat!! ^_^ Would that be a sweet marketing gimmick or what?!....Anyway! I need to think on that one a little bit more...and keep the phone number for Russell Stover candies close at hand! LOL
Enough daydreaming...^_^...Let me show you my hats I made in between gabbing and napping...
I started out with a simple pull-on hat using the soft gray Caron yarn...
I'm calling it a 'Sack Hat' because it's gonna be long enough on your head to stuff your hair in it...
...Or you can just 'roll up the sack'...so to speak...
And just like grocery sacks are good for all kinds of things, I think my hat can be worn by all kinds of people too!...I may even have to make one for my hubby! :-)
After I finished the gray one, I made one more...
I used this pretty 'maize' or corn-colored yarn.
I actually liked the hat better in this color...
In fact, I liked it so much that I couldn't help but wonder what it would look like with one of my crochet button flowers on it!...So I made one of those too! ^_^...
Please forgive my wacky photos...I tried to edit them...*shaking my head*
I didn't attach the flower to it this time. Depending on who buys it, I might just send the flower along as a free accessory. :-]
So, that's my foray into the winter hat making arena. It was just in time!...The snow outside is starting to make hats...
...and if the snow is starting to make hats......I KNOW it's time for me to start making hats!! That white stuff is not gonna have anything on me!!! LOL
