Glimpses Of My Friday So Far!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/189789355/summer-stripes-phone-sock-ipod-sleeve?ref=favs_view_1

I started today's post with the cute knitted iPod/cell phone sock in the header photo, that I scoped out on Etsy earlier this morning...but the first glimpse of my Friday wasn't that cute!...It was darkness, wind, and lots and lots of rain! O_O
Our 'virtual date' to Mexico is gonna be a welcome change! Mexico City is at 70 degrees Fahrenheit, with only 18% humidity! :-) They're not due to see even a hint of rain until Tuesday!...and by then we'll be long gone outta there!! LOL

Here are some more glimpses of my Friday so far...

M&Ms, with almonds, is the treat I've decided to give myself today. :-) I haven't eaten any of them yet. I'm waiting until we get on the 'virtual airplane' tonight. :-) The chewing will help with the 'cabin pressure'...right?! LOL

      A pink and blue glimpse!...

These are two tiny lapel pin 'fronts' I had just enough thread to make....*sigh*...I have to put different colored backings on them because I'm all out of the variegated thread I had to make them....and I can't afford to buy a whole bag of variegated threads 'just' to get tiny bits of these two colors!...*They don't sell these colors individually here.*...Yep! O_O Something else I have to finish!!...*shaking my head*

This is a tiny glimpse of something I already finished...last night! :-) ...

No, NOT the cat!...No!!! O_O ... NO MORE CROCHETED ANIMALS FOR ME!! LOL... I 'did' make the little toilet tissue holder though! :-) ...*Remember the pretty blue yarn I showed you in yesterday's post?! :-) Well, it's now a tissue holder!...sitting on the bathroom shelf in my guest bathroom, holding a roll of my tissue! ^_^ It doesn't have a ribbon on it though, because hubby liked it without the ribbon. :-)
Hubby wants me to make two more. One light green, and one white...for the other bathroom! :-) Apparently he likes the idea of hiding our tissue in plain sight!! LOL...I'll do it. But not today!! ^_^

Here's a glimpse of the ribbon I got today...

I'm gonna thread this through my baby blankets I'm finishing. :-) I'll show you when they're all done.....That won't be today!!...just so you know! ^_^ This is my 'Virtual Date Day'! I'm not doing anything I 'HAVE TO' do today! ^_^

Here's a glimpse of what I'm watching today...

I'm watching my hummingbird feeder...which is just swinging in the wind and getting rained on! :-) I think the hummingbirds are tucked away in a nest somewhere....Or maybe they're already in Mexico!! LOL
If you look in the top left side of the above photo you'll notice that there are flowers on my tree now too! :-) They just popped out today!!! :-)

I'm also watching tennis!! ^_^ Actually, I've been watching tennis all week! But today it's down to the fights for the semi-finals!...Djokovic defeated Ferrer earlier. He's got to play Raonic tomorrow! :-) ...

And my 'Baby Boy', Rafael Nadal, is playing Andy Murray right now! ^_^ I shouldn't be smiling about it though, because the first set just ended...6 to 1, Andy Murray!!! O_O Rafa is getting beaten like he stole something!! LOL...

I think I'm gonna watch the second set with my hands up to my face, glimpsing the television through my fingers! O_O I sure hope Rafa wakes up for the second set!! O_O

Anyway!...That's a glimpse of my Friday so far! :-] From here on out I'm sure it'll be full of giggles and smiles :-) That's what time with hubby does for me. He makes me smile! :-) ...

What does your Friday look like?! ^_^

Eyes

We take our eyes for granted
until some 'boo boo' mars our view.
Then we find ourselves short-sighted
with less things that we can do.

The thought of losing sight,
and seeing life just like before,
is scary, and can shake our confidence
right to the core.

To make our eyes feel better
we would do most anything.
Some eye salve or a hot pack,
even ointments that will sting.

To, every day, appreciate
the eyes that help us see
(and keeping those sharp objects
out of their proximity),

That's what we should be doing,
give those 'Peepers' some respect!
Especially since they get it
when we're sticking out our neck.

Treasured Eye Catchers!

(Treasury curated by Alex L)

Instead of pouring out my feelings about the burial of the Sandy Hook Elementary School students, or all of the other crazy sad news lately, I'm choosing to share some other things that caught my eye and distracted me away from watching the news to the point of numbness. :-( ...As a side thought, I don't know how in the world any parent would be able to handle this kind of situation without knowledge and support! :-(
Anyway.....my little chocolate brown, white, and blue crochet lapel pin suit boutonniere was chosen for the treasury...

...along with some other cute items, like this...

      ...and this!...

There's some other really cute items in the treasury too. Just click on the above photo of the treasury to go over and check them out!

I wanted to show you a few other eye-catchers that I came across that WEREN'T in the treasury!...

This large poster print of the trees by DUEALBERI caught my eye...maybe because it looks sorta like my backyard! :-)

And this Royal Haeger 22k Gold Tweed Vase, and Pair of Pheasants (below), from TimandKimShow caught my eye because......Well, just because!! ^_^ It's birds, and a place for flowers! What's not to love?!...

And last, but not least, was this eye catching Embroidered Linen Lace from cottonholic...

I don't know where I'd use it...but even if I didn't use it anywhere it would be pretty to look at and run my fingers across! :-) ... Have I told you about my love of lace?! :-]

Okay, breakfast and some shipping is calling. I'll be back tomorrow with......SOMETHING!! ^_^ Have a good day, Everybody!...and keep those eyes in good shape!

Creative...Things!!

Besides good sleeping, good eating...I got a gift of a box of Russell Stovers Chocolates yesterday!! :-)..., good watching of T.V. (I watched repeat episodes of 'Storage Wars' and stayed away from the news!), and a good time spent helping my girlfriend prepare a 5 minute Bible talk/performance that she has to perform this Thursday, my Tuesday was pretty uneventful...like I like it!! ^_^
Today is NOT gonna be uneventful! We've got rain coming today, and snow and ice coming tomorrow! So I've got to get some crocheting done before my fingers get that gnarly mangled feel and I can't make my crochet hook do what I want it to do! LOL Who knows...maybe the weather will be good to me this time and just bother OTHER people!....Yeah, I know. Wishful thinking!
You don't know how thankful I am that my eyes will still be working though!! :-) I love looking around and finding out what the creative people of Etsy are doing right now!...Do you wanna see what I'm loving right now?!....What?!...Your eyes are working too, right?! ^_^
The raccoon figurine in the header photo was the first thing that caught my eye! Soooo cute!! :-) But as I continued to look around, my eyes had a feast..of things for my ears!!...

         Things for my refrigerator door...
        Things for my bedroom...

      Things for my neck...

Things for my dog...Okay, not for "my" dog. I don't have one! LOL But I know someone who would love it!! :-) ...
      Things for holding my jewelry...

Things for putting away all of my OTHER jewelry!....Shhhh! Hubby may, or may not, know that I still have more jewelry than he's aware of, and that I need somewhere inconspicuous to put it! LOL...

Things to put on my feet....I don't really need to explain this one, do I ladies?! :-) ...

Things to decorate my wall...and just to look at....

And things for my hubby too! For his 'Man Cave'...
*hanging my head*....Okay...confession...that sign was for me too! "I love you Dallas Cowboys!!!!!" ^_^ *blowing kisses to the team*...Hubby's team is the Rams. This shop didn't have a sign for them.
But there was something else for him!...
And look at that! It's just big enough to hold all the money he'll need to carry, in order to get all the 'things' I've been spending my time looking at!! LOL
I guess I better get back to work on my crocheting, so I can 'bring on some bacon' too! I mean...I still have to pay for my living! LOL Although it doesn't cost anything to look! ^_^
Do something fun with your eyes and have a good day everybody! :-)

Ohhh...Just A Little Skunk Story!

I ask you...Is there anything 'cute' about a skunk?!...I know you're probably thinking "No!" But I have a 'cute' skunk story to tell you. And it just happened the other night.
Before I tell you about it though....Come on! You knew I wasn't gonna just tell you about it, didn't you?!!! LOL...let me answer my own question about whether there's anything 'cute' about a skunk....Well, 'I'm' not gonna answer it. Some Etsians are gonna answer it!! :-]
FreckledHound, you clearly know that sometimes skunks can be 'cute'! :-)
        This vinyl skunk wall decal is so 'cute'!!...It reminded me of a certain skunk cartoon character from my youth....Pepé Le Pew!!...Oh! Amore!! :-) {Funny how the brain just holds on to stuff! LOL}
BabbidgePatch knows that skunks can be 'cute' too!
Couldn't you see your little guy in this Little Stinker Skunk Hat?! :-)

And Oh!! I don't think a skunk can get 'much' cuter than the the one LadiesWhoKill took a photo of!!
Just think, you can have this 'cute' skunk print up on the wall in your nursery, or your little ones 'big girl' or 'big boy' bedroom!...I'd put it in my bathroom....Just saying! LOL It would be perfect there, right?! ^_^
Okay, I'll tell you the story now. :-) .....You know how usually when you see a skunk you're all like "YIKES!!" and "EEK!!",...no doubt with the idea that he's gonna spray you with his 'stink gas' and you'll have an almost impossible time getting it off before you have to go to Grandma's house or to work the next day?!!...

     (dimdi)
It's a legitimate fear too, and the details of their defense mechanism prove it! Did you know that skunks have two glands, one on either side of their...Ummm...'hiney parts'...that produces a mixture of sulfur-containing chemicals such as methyl and butyl thiols?
I 'know' you know that it has a highly offensive smell! In other words....'Peeeee....You'!! ^_^ The smell has been described as a combination of the odors of rotten eggs, garlic and burnt rubber! Wikipedia says the odor of the fluid is strong enough to ward off bears! No kidding?!.....Maybe I need to get some more skunks in the backyard!! ^_^ Then again...I don't want hubby getting sprayed by accident while he's out there taking down and putting up the hummingbird feeder at night, while he's trying to avoid the wasps in the daytime!! O_0
       Two facts about skunks could make hubby's getting sprayed a high probability too...One, they can't see very good. Anything more than 10 feet away (3 meters) they can't see that clearly. {That's why they're so vulnerable to getting killed in traffic!}
And two, they have a really good sense of smell and hearing. So, they are really accurate with that spraying thing! In fact, they're able to accurately spray up to 10 feet (3 meters)! Yep! What they lose in sight, they make up for in spraying ability!!...And that spray can cause more than just irritation, stinky skin, and stinky clothes that you can't wait to get off!!....{and a smell that can be detected by a human nose up to a mile downwind!} It can cause temporary blindness!!!...the little 'cuties'!! ^_^
And herein lies the rest of the story! My girlfriend and her husband and kids were all sleeping about midnight when they started hearing some banging...over and over again...outside their apartment. When they went to investigate this is what they saw!...Yep! She gave me the video to share with you all!! :-)

Do you believe that?!!....Poor little cutie!!...

After I stopped laughing, I started wondering about whether or not his "problem" was ever fixed!! ^_^ Then I looked at some other videos on Youtube and realized.....THIS IS A REGULAR SKUNK OCCURRENCE!!! LOL
As you might have figured out by now, my girlfriend and her family DID NOT try to fix his "problem"!!! ^_^ Hopefully he 'banged' his way to a solution, or had some little 'cute' girl skunk come along and help him out!....Hey! Pepe' Le Pew would've helped his girl companion out!!! ^_^

Flying High, and So Glad I Have Eyes!!!

(Perched Oriole...A Stained Glass Suncatcher by henrystreet)
"I'm flying a bit higher today too, little birdie!" :-) Part of the reason has to do with a sunny Treasury by catcanpaint entitled The Sun Also Rises
It's her very first time ever curating a Treasury, and she chose to use my Butterfly Under a Grassy Green Flower Necklace as one of the items!
I'm very honored...Thank you Cat! :-) ... A couple of the other items that I really liked that she picked were the Polaroid Print of TREES by bomobob...
...This Golden Shadow Swarovski Crystal, Bee Mine Necklace by ArtistiKat...
....and this Fine Art Photograph of a Black Cat by ljangphotography.
      Good job Cat!! :-)
The other thing that has me flying a bit higher is my Country Living magazine!!
It's all Spring-like and cheery and.....and......FULL OF FOOD!!!! ^_^ ...In case YOU are interested, there's a garden furniture give-away in there for goods worth more than $1,000 from a collection of outdoor seating and accessories for KMart. You can enter to win it at countryliving.com/win.
There's also new finds for your home, including cabinets with a multitude of cubbies for all kinds of storage possibilities....NO! I didn't take pictures of it! LOL Why you ask?!....Because when I was looking at them, while they WERE interesting and cute, I was thinking: "Where's the food?!" ^_^
Then I ran into this page and didn't mind the small delay getting to my beloved food recipes!
       Bumps.......bumpy glass......bumpy glass with pretty colors!!! ^_^ You can see why I got slowed down, right?!...{A page full of Fashionable Revival bags made out of recycled fabrics, and the regular article on "What Is It? What Is It Worth?", tried to deter me too....but I wasn't having it!!! LOL}
I just kept turning page after beautiful page. Passing flowers, antiques, pet advice,....{which is only a novelty to me anyway, seeing as I don't own a pet! LOL}...the real estate sampler, and an article, full of gorgeous pictures, about 'the carefully cultivated home'. (You should see those photos in the actual magazine anyway! Not my recycled photographs of it...You know how my photography is!! I can really butcher up a manicured cultivated home layout!! LOL)
But FOOD?!...That's another story!! And finally....I got to it!! Roasted sweet potatoes with sugar, allspice, and fennel seeds...
     ...simple biscuits...{frankly, I didn't need a recipe to know how to make biscuits. I've been making homemade buttermilk biscuits since I was tall enough to see over the kitchen table!....But they're still good to look at!! LOL}
     ...steamed asparagus, topped with tangerines...
...Eggplant Lasagne, with roasted peppers, marinara sauce, and three types of cheese!...
      ...Ummmm....I haven't had eggplant in a while!
....French Lentil Salad, with carrots, garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, and the zest of a lemon...
...and of course, dessert! Shortcake, with juicy strawberries and airy whipped cream!!
Yum, yum, and YUM!!! Makes you glad you have eyes, doesn't it?! ^_^ Are you hungry yet?!....I am! And I haven't eaten! So, guess where I'm headed?! ^_^ ... After I leave you a poem of course!
