'Scoop-Thumb' And 'Roll-Along' IN THE HOUSE!!

      Happy Wednesday, (Hump Day) Everybody! :-) Although, NOT such a happy Wednesday for hubby and I so far!...We woke up to the sound of pelting rain on the windows, and joints that were screaming in pain!!...Ours!!...O-U-C-H!!!

      Waking up to joints screaming in pain is nothing new for me, but hubby is usually in pretty good shape...pain-wise...except for an occasional backache from sleeping in a weird position! But this morning he found it different because of a recent fall off of his bike! O_O He jammed his thumb into the ground pretty good...or rather, pretty bad!...and it has been swollen and throbbing ever since!

      I, on the other hand, always have trouble rolling over in bed when the weather gets all rainy and...achy!! Thus the nicknames hubby decided he would give us this morning...'Scoop Thumb' (because he can't use his thumb for anything, except in a careful scooping motion) and 'Roll-Along' (because that's my mode of transportation at the moment)!! ^_^ 

      I didn't let him see me howling with laughter as I was visualizing him scooping stuff with his thumb, while I was rolling along on the ground in front of him. LOL If I did, that would be all he'd be talking about for the next week!!! ^_^ I'd rather he keep talking about the fact that after three or four weeks of playing UNO with me...he STILL hasn't won one game!! ^_^  

      Okay...enough silly talk!! ^_^ But I don't have much else to talk about or show you...except for a couple of other really cute rainy day items from my co-Etsy crafters...

You Ever Watch A Spider?

You ever watch a spider,
when he's working out his plan?
He's amazing in his 'know how',
and his determination's grand!

He spins a web and sits there,
waiting for the winds to change;
For dinner to come to him,
with no stove or oven range!

It seems a 'wee bit' gory
as he wraps his dinner tight,
with no 'Seran Wrap', tape, or foil;
just 'know how', to do it right!

But what amazes me the most
 is not the way the spider dines.
It's all the prep work of the web,
which, in the sun, just shines and shines.

The web is perfect in it's shape,
with sturdiness, and lots of flare.
And with everything that's done,
it simply sways and stays right there!

You ever watch a spider,
and wonder where it gets it's brain?
Whether watching from a couch,
or you're there standing in the rain?!

When you see a spider work,
no matter where this work might be,
You can't help but marvel at him,
and his creative oddity!

 

Tote, Tote, Tote.......That's All She Wrote!!

     Say "Bye, Bye!" to my latest wuglyees etsy shop sale, one of my crochet totes! *waving my hand!!* ^_^ It was sent off to a 'soon-to-be' bride. And she loves it!! :-) Her friend referred to her as a lover of handmade items, and kind of hippy-dippy! O_O WHATEVER!!!! If she's a customer for my 'style' I love her!! ♥
 

     Hubby is manning a spot at our friend's 'Tag-Sale' today to try to see if we can have some more of my crochet items taken off of my hands!...along with a few other things too...."Scarves or pocketbooks, Anyone?!".....I said: "ANYONE!!" LOL
 

     I'm working on a 'funky-colored' hooded baby blanket at the moment. I was gonna try to share some photos of it with you today...*In fact, that's why my post is so late! :-))*...but, due to my amazing abilities to organize....Uhhhh...I can't remember where my camera's 'Home' is!!! *Blink! Blink!*....And stop that laughing too!!!...(This is all your fault, Peter Walsh!!!!) ^_^

     In other news, I still have battling hummingbirds at my feeder! :-) Although, why they're battling for a feeder this late in the season is a puzzlement to me! O_O Aren't they suppose to be slowing down and fattening up for their long trip to Mexico, or something?!!...Oh well, they still are a lot of entertainment for me...in a 'why-you-enjoying-those-bird's-misery' kind of way! LOL

     Hopefully tomorrow I'll find my camera...and my favorite ink pen...and my crochet needle case.....! O_O ORGANIZING!!! Grrrr! ... See you then! ^_^

 Change

Oh, I've been so hither thither,
up and down, all here and there.
I guess I'm trying to get a handle
on the changes everywhere.

The changes of the weather
and the times, and of me.
The changes to my schedule
and responsibility.

I'm not complaining...Well not much!
This change is good. I will adjust.
Or you may see me near the highway
 with a sign: "Will Change Or Bust!"

Sooooo...What Are Your Leftovers Of Summer?!

     Okay...so the backyard flowers may NOT look quite as beautiful as this right now!! :-)) But the photos of them...which were leftover in the camera back a while ago, in the early summer when hubby took them, are quite a beautiful leftover of summer. Don't you think?! ^_^
 

    They were a lot nicer to look at this morning than the rainy darkness that I woke up to!! Grrrr! "GO AWAY!!!!" {No need to quote the rest of the poem to the rain. You know 'Rain, Rain, Go........!' That rain knows exactly who I'm talking to!!! Grrrrrr!}

     Rainy days are a good time to do some other things though. Like re-organizing your organizing! ^_^ And that's what I'm doing today. Actually I should say 'that's what I'm continuing to do today'! I started it yesterday.
     For some reason all of my little places where I keep my stuff keep getting MORE stuff!! LOL You know, the little box I keep next to the bed with my 'get-it-quick' stuff in it that I always need to get my hands on quick which use to have just my extra crochet needles, floss, tape measurer, stamps, hand lotion, emery board, nail clippers, etc...now also has batteries, safety pins, rubber bands, a calculator, a hair scrunchy, keys, etc...UGH!
       I was watching Peter Walsh on Rachel Ray the other day...you know, the guy that helps people organize...and he said something that I thought was rather 'Organizer-Profound'. He held up a fork and said: 'If you found this fork in your house while you were somewhere else besides in the kitchen, you would know exactly where to take it back to! Everything in your house should be the same way. It should have a home. Somewhere that you know it belongs!'
      Thus....my organizing!! ^_^ I'm trying to give all of my 'STUFF' a home!! LOL Needless to say.....I'm beginning to think Peter Walsh needs to get out of my head!!! ^_^

     In other news: I finished a crochet sweater, hat, and booties set for a 6-month to one-year-old (or there about that age! ^_^).
  

     If I can get out of my 'mad-organizer' mind some time today I'm gonna list it in my wuglyees etsy shop. :-]
 

     I would love some feedback on it though!...Would you buy something like this as a gift?!! 

     Okay...I'm off to ORGANIZE!!!...something other than my typing fingers and my mind!! LOL Have a good day, Everybody!! ♥

Priorities

"I Have A Cramp In My 'Virtual' Calf!!"

      If you follow my blog regularly you know that my hubby and I go on a 'virtual' date every Friday night. In other words, we spend time alone every Friday doing something, or traveling somewhere, online. It used to be something we did 'in real life' every Friday back when my health was better. But now we just do the same things...'virtually'! ^_^

      Yesterday we went 'virtual' roller skating! ^_^ There's a skating rink up in Vernon Connecticut that we had some fun at 'back-in-the-day', and we hadn't been there in a long, long time! So we decided we would pull out the old...and decrepit!...roller skates and take them for a little spin...to music! :-)

      It wasn't long before we figured out that we're OLD!!! LOL Or, should I say, our bodies aren't as young and flexible as they used to be! Yeah! That's it!!! ^_^ We enjoyed the music...except for a few repetitive bouncy songs that are still in our heads 16 hours later!! LOL But our calves and thigh muscles are sporting some massive cramps and soreness that no Calgon bath will cure! O-U-C-H!!! :-))

      Needless to say, we're thinking that maybe a marathon NAP might be a good date for next Friday night! LOL

      I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately, but I've been doing more focusing on crocheting lately, trying to get some product together to sell in order to try to make some money to keep the bills paid!...Hubby still hasn't been able to find work, and things are rather TIGHT!! O_O We're getting by though. And, so far, all of the bills are getting paid...even if it's by a squeeze every time!! ^_^

      I've been having all kinds of fun making these barefoot sandals though!! ^_^ Even my big ole feet can fit them!!...because most of them tie in the back!! ^_^

And no matter who wins, I have thoroughly enjoyed the time with my hubby, with both of us yelling at the tv! ^_^

      The series is tied up, 2-2 right now. Another game is tomorrow (Sunday). The best 4 of 7 will win the series. I'm looking very forward to the games!! :-) I get to yell at the tv, spend time with hubby playing UNO, crochet, eat, or whatever ALL AT THE SAME TIME!! ^_^ It's a total WIN/WIN!! ^_^ ... And then.....a nap breaks out!! LOL ZZzzzzzz! :-))

Be The Best You Can Be

I live my life every day,
trying to be the very best I can,

Do You Have Different Times For Different Kinds Of 'COMFORT FOOD'?

      I know the header question is kind of an odd question to be asking when you're looking at a pair of crochet slippers, not food! :-)) But I didn't have any pictures of the food. I ate it all up!! LOL So you'll just have to settle for the conversation we're about to have about it...while you look at a few of the 'comfort slippers' I have listed in my wuglyees shop right now! ^_^

      Why am I talking about 'comfort food', you ask?!...Because I was having one of those days over the weekend where I was slowly eating some 'Ben & Jerry's' ice cream off of a big soup spoon while thinking about a well-done cheeseburger. That's why! LOL It was at that moment that I realized that some of the incidents of late, incidents where I would have had one kind or the other of a certain kind of 'comfort food' to get me through it, had crossed over each other, and I wasn't gonna be able to comfort myself with food to get through it!!...Well, not with one kind of food anyway!! LOL

      Money problems, health problems, disappointments, discouragement, people I love getting into trouble with the law....you know, things that make you need huge vats of some kind of comfort food!!...or hours and hours of hugs, and lots of prayer!!

      Frankly, what's really getting me through it is lots of love from friends and family, prayer, Biblical reminders, my brand new Bible student's attentiveness, and projects to crochet! :-)

         Okay....and food!!! ♥ ^_^ ... When there's not enough money at the end of the month I focus on the comfort of a great big chef salad with ham and cheese folds, ripe-thin sliced tomatoes, black olives, lettuce, green and red bell peppers, black pepper and hot pepper flakes!...YUM!...and it all seems better! ^_^

       When I get that 'out-of-the-blue' phone call that harbors a brick-load of bad news, followed by an email saying that the news is even worse than I first thought....UGH!...I sit down with a big spoon, and a pint of 'Ben & Jerry's' 'Chunky Monkey'...and chew my way to calm!! :-))

       When I move unexpectantly and throw my shoulder out of place...OUCH!...I holler for hubby to bring me a bowl of chicken noodle soup, or a hot chocolate to sip on...and eventually I relax enough to fall asleep...where I'm not in pain, or thinking about pain, for at least a little while!

       Of course, food isn't the cure all to end all!! In fact, it usually doesn't change anything really! But I sure have enjoyable comfort thinking it does!! ^_^ ... Am I the only one who does this?...I think not!!...I'm sure some of you have what I call 'Go To' comfort foods!

      When someone has lied to you.......French Fries!

      When the check that they said was in the mail...isn't actually in the mail!....a grilled cheese sandwich!

      When there's no more money to spend on comfort food!...an egg sandwich with pickles and mayo! LOL (Sometimes you have to find comfort with what's left in the fridge!! LOL)

       Yes! There are loads of other comfort foods that are not so bad for you, like baked chicken with a vinaigrette dressing, cabbage soup, cottage cheese topped with a pineapple ring and fresh tomato, and many many more!! I'm sure you could name a few! ^_^

      

      But whatever the food, for whatever the situation, my question is why does it seem to work?...Even if only temporarily?!...I suspect, in my case, that it has something to do with the way I was comforted through hard times as a kid.
     It seemed that through all of the hard situations of my childhood...having to move from place to place, watching my baby sister being given to other adoptive parents, my parent's divorce, and OTHER stuff! Some of it really YUCKY STUFF!...there was always food!
     I sometimes dream about the food of my childhood: homemade biscuits and gravy, peach cobbler, turkey cornbread stuffing, bacon, fried chicken, meatloaf, hash browns, homemade french fries, hamburgers, homemade jam, etc....*drooling*...Oh yeah!...COMFORT!!! :-)

      And today, with aching joints because of the rain, what do I have...uhhhh...comfortable slippers, and a dream! LOL And prayer!! ^_^ There's no 'comfort food' in sight!!...unless you wanna call leftover cabbage and a boiled egg 'comfort food'!! LOL But, for that to be the case, you'd have to be comforting a walrus whose been cooped up at the zoo!!! LOL I guess I'll stick to my dreams!! ^_^ Have a good day, Eaters!! ♥

Tasty, salty, satisfying.
Bloating, coating stomach lining.

Greasy, cheesy, burger grinder.
Gassy, thick, intestine finder.

Crispy, long, french fries a-plenty.
Chocolate, peppermint, green and minty.

Salads; veggie, seafood, chicken.
Fried and floured, finger lickin'.

Hoagies, subs, and roast beef stew.
Catfish, dash of hot sauce too.

Pizza, mushroom, peppers, tomato.
Apple fries instead of potato.

Catch-up, mustard, condiments.
Onion rings? I'm on the fence.

Frosty, frothy, milk shake sip.
Coffee Coolata, do-nut, dipped.

No matter if it's hot or chilled.
Definitely a happy meal.

Just Putting My Foot In It!

       I don't have much to talk about it today. But look at where I am still!! LOL Over here talking about nothing! Just putting my foot in it, so to speak. ^_^ And I'm sharing these 'foot photos' because I just listed both pair of these crochet slippers in my Wuglyees Etsy shop! :-)
 

      The ones in the header photo are blue and white, size 8. And the above slippers are black, size 10. (Just so you know though, I can do them in a lot of different sizes, 6 to 13. In other words, as long as you're not a big foot...I mean a real BIG FOOT!...I'll give it a try!! LOL)
 

      And the photo below came from another recipient of a pair of free drawing slippers! ^_^ 
 

      Hers was the last free pair on my list! :-) Now I'm making 'em for the shop! ^_^ I'm hoping somebody still wants some cozy tozies! :-)) {Sorry Yaya, I had to steal your expression. It was calling to me!! LOL}

      In other news, hubby is still on the hunt for a job that works in our schedule! It's gonna be tough this time. My health and our age is making things kinda tough! *blink, blink* We're not in panic mode or anything though....YET! ^_^ It's just a matter of time before something wonderful will show it's lovely head. We just know it!!!...And if not, we'll keep on using Scarlett O'Hara's positivity training...knowing that 'Tomorrow Is Another Day!" ^_^ By the way, tomorrow is another day...and I'll see you then! ^_^ Have a good rest of the day, Everybody! ♥

Good To Be Alive

Trouble breathing, bills galore,
family problems and all that jive.
I don't care how bad it gets.
It's good to be alive!

Jobs and money, your fair share,
of which you are deprived.
But even so, no matter how it goes,

Migraine headaches, family loss,
careers you can't revive.
Oh yes, debilitating,
and yet, still you are alive!

Injustice, fearing the worst
because of planes that don't arrive.
And while some didn't make it,
for most it's good to be alive.

While trouble in this world

Sole.......Sister!!

      It's been a while since I mentioned it, but I have a lot of sisters! So many, in fact, that when I mention to one of my friends that I talked to my sister, they always start listing them..."You mean (blank)? No.....Oh, then you mean (blank)?...No! O_O Well, was it (blank)? ^_^ Inevitably I have to stop them before they go through the names of every one of the sisters in my family, and just tell them the name of the sister I'm talking about!! LOL

      I'm not gonna be naming names here on the blog! I'll just make a general statement....I love my sisters! ♥ :-) That doesn't mean that I always like them! Or that I like everything they do!...And I'm sure they would probably say the same about me! ^_^ But when push comes to shove...and that happened a LOT in our youth!...we always somehow have each other's backs! ♥

      I got a call from one of my sisters yesterday. It had been a while since we actually talked, even though I follow her on Facebook and know what she and her family are up to! I won't tell you what the conversation was about. I'll just tell you that it's so strange for me sometimes, remembering that she's not a kid anymore!!

      I used to be the 'Big Sister', holder of all sister wisdom, her older 'go-to' girl. And now we're both grown. She has children. And I struggle with being the older sister who wants to tell her what's best for her.....and minding my own grown-folk business!! LOL...because I KNOW that's what I have to do!! ^_^

      If I told her what to do and it didn't work out well....OOPS! I'd be responsible!! O_O And I can't be responsible for the decisions of other grown folk!! :-)) I'm barely responsible for mine these days!! LOL...Anyway!...Do any of you struggle with your sister relationships now that you're an adult?!

      Imagine how much of a struggle it is to have LOTS of grown sisters...and brothers!...and other relatives too!!!!...*sigh*...Sometimes it's just like a big 'Etch-A-Sketch' in my head. :-)) I just wanna shake the sand real hard and try to make a different picture!! LOL It's a good thing I love all of them...no matter what!! ^_^

      In other news!... :-) ...one of my customers let me share her photos of my slippers on her 'actual' feet!! ^_^ ...

      My photo taking doesn't ever get to the level of being able to be shown on 'actual' feet!! LOL So I'm thankful to her for letting me share them! ♥

      The photos below, of slipper soles NOT on feet, is as close to fairly good slipper shots that I can get! ^_^
 

      It's too bad I can't send all of my slippers to her house and let her take the photos for me!! ^_^
