Paris To Boston To Holyoke

********** Right out of the blocks this morning, I'm all about tennis. Why? Because there were two good matches going on last night, that had to be postponed until today....because of darkness! :-) ...and both of them are being finished this morning. In fact, the Tsonga/Wawrinka match is distracting me right now! It's 4/4 in the 5th set!....Juan Martin Del Potro and Tomas Berdych have to finish their match too. It's going on right now in another court.
As tennis goes, when it gets to these later stages of the tournament, the top ranking players are like cream that rises to the top when you're churning milk....Usually, they are the clear winners in each match. But there was an unexpected development yesterday...The #1 seed, Victoria Azarenka, was beat substantially by #15 seed, Dominika Cibulkova, 6-2, 7-6!!...It was a sledge hammer match...and so much fun to watch!

Later today it'll be Andy Murray versus Richard Gasquet, and Varvara Lepchenko versus Petra KvitovaMaria Sharapova , and Na Li both have matches with players that I think they'll easily get through. And so does Rafael Nadal ("Baby Boy"). If not, you know I'll let you know about it! ^_^

SPOILER ALERT!!!...Tsonga just won his match!!! :-)

As I was saying...something about cream rising to the top...Congratulations Jo-Wilfried!!! ^_^ ...Anyway, it's gonna be good watching today too...that is if I can keep my eyes open! I didn't sleep good again last night. Grrr!

This time it's partly my fault though, because I was really sleepy at one point last night, and could've really went down for a while...I think!...but I forced myself to stay awake because I was watching the Boston Celtics/Miami Heat basketball game. ^_^ ...It was a nail-biter right down Paul Pierce and  LeBron James getting fouled out...and to the second over-time...right up to the very last second of the game!....Congrats to my home team, the Boston Celtics!! ^_^ I hope I don't end up paying for that decision later today. I've got things to do!!!! **********

I'm working on a new crochet line for my shop. Lapel pin sets...I purchased some cuff links yesterday. I'm gonna see if a cuff link, instead of a button, works for the tiny colorful lapel pins...I'm gonna be making as many lapel pins as my arthritically rained on fingers can make...until the cuff links get here...If the cuff links don't work, at least I'll have the lapel pins all ready for button sewing!
I'm also starting to put price tags on individual items as I make them, and put them into a carrying case for hubby...

SPOILER ALERT:...Del Potro just won his match!!! :-) ...Congratulations Juan Martin!!!  :-) Next stop...Roger Federer!!...

Now, as I was saying...Hubby has agreed to be my tester/salesman. He's gonna take my crochet jewelry over to the family and friends and see what they think, and if they would buy any of it...My family will be brutally honest. That's what I need right now...from someone who can see my work up close and personal....I'm not giving them my poetry to critique though! O_O I don't care if they like that or not....I'M GONNA BE TALKING!!!! LOL
      Okay, off to finish eating...

...I'm not gonna eat this bread box though. It was just so cute that I had to show it to you! :-)
...Then I'm gonna relax myself and try to  get some sleep!...

       *Yawn*...Have a good day, Everybody!

 What do YOU talk about?

What do YOU talk about
when you don't have much to say?
A short phrase about the weather?
Or the 'fine'-ness of the day?

Do you ask: "How do you do?",
hoping they won't say a thing?
Or just say: "Call me tomorrow",
hoping that the phone won't ring?

Do you lend yourself to grins,
and slight noddings of the head,
knowing big smiles and eye contact
would make you committed to what they said?

What do YOU talk about
when your 'talker' is 'on the blink'?
Not hardly much at all.
Certainly not much as you would think!

Things Are Still Not Back To Normal Apparently...

The post title probably has you wondering what I'm talking about now! ^_^ Well, it's nothing major. Just the fact that I thought my sleep patterns were trying to get better. In fact, they had been much better over the last few days! But last night....Ugh! I fell asleep after 11:00 p.m., and was back up a bit before 3 a.m....and I'll still up now...5:12 a.m. The only good thing about the present time is that tennis is on! :-)
*********   The first match up this morning is Svetlana Kuznetsova versus Sara Errani. I'm gonna watch it for a little while, before I have to take me a nap so I can be wide awake for my meeting!
Yesterday could be characterized as a "comfortable" day for the top ranking players...Well, for most of them.  David Ferrer, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal breezed through their matches. And Maria Sharapova, Petra Kvitova and Li Na did the same...The real challenges are gonna be in the upcoming rounds, when these top-ranking players end up playing each other!
There were some surprising losers yesterday though...Caroline Wozniacki was upset by Kaia Kanepi, and 26 year old Varvara Lepchenko, 26, upset Francesca Schiavone.

But speaking of 'comfortable' rounds, Roger Federer, today, is playing a fresh faced, 21 year old, slender, 5-foot-11, young man, whose voice is barely a whisper. He's 109th ranked David Goffin. The press have dubbed him a "lucky loser" because he was beaten in qualifying for Roland Garros, but he snuck into the field due to someone's withdrawal. (France's Gael Monfils pulled out with a knee injury.) Now he's reached the fourth round at a Grand Slam tournament...and he's playing Roger Federer!!
Goffin is an unabashed fan of Federer. He displayed posters of 16-time Grand Slam champion, Federer, in his bedroom as a child. He said in an interview: "Since I was little, I've watched Roger play on TV. To me, he plays almost perfect tennis. His technique is perfect. I also like him at the human level. He's a very good person on and off the court."

No one...including Roger himself...can believe that Goffin is still here, into the fourth round! Federer has been winning major titles since 2003,...when Goffin was 12!...What is this match today gonna be like?!...Entertaining, I'm sure. :-)

Also playing today are  Novak Djokovic versus Andreas Seppi...Victoria Azarenka versus Dominika Cibulkova ...Stanislas Wawrinka versus Jo-Wilfried Tsonga...and the "feel good" match that I'm looking forward to most, Sloane Stephens versus Samantha Stosur. :-) **********

Okay, a couple of cute Etsy finds, and then I'm outta here! ^_^ ...

Hubby is still sleeping soundly. I'm gonna go and see if I can join him. If you don't hear from us by 2022...come and find us. We'll be the two 'wibbly wobbly headed' folks, with drool running down our beards! LOL
Have a good day, Everybody! :-)

French Open 2012, Week One

I can hardly believe
that a whole week is through!
It's been seven days.
WOW! How the time flew!

Tosses and serves,
swings and close games,
grunting and nervousness,
"That was in!" claims.

Very long sets,
(Thanks Isner, Mathieu)
A first round upset
when Serena was through!

A ball-boy mistake,
and Andy's bad back.
I've watched with enjoyment,
whack after whack.

The basketball Playoff's
distraction complete,
with the Celtic's first win
against Miami heat.

And baseball chimed in,
with it's fans all a flitter,
when Johan Santana
pitched the Mets' first No-Hitter.

This may be Sharapova's
and Sloane Stephen's best year.
Whatever the case, one more week,
I'll be here!

Orange, Yellow, Blue and Gray

Not everything that's good in life is all about color. Case in point: hubby made the most delicious tuna salad yesterday...elbow noodles, bell pepper, onions, mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, celery, salt and pepper...and it didn't have much color at all. In fact, I stopped him from putting any more 'color' in it! He wanted to add Dijon mustard and red pepper flakes...Uh...some times you need to leave 'well enough' alone and let things remain colorless! LOL
That's true with tuna salad and with tennis! :-) Speaking of which...

**********  ...Maybe the Williams girls...Serena and Venus...should've left the French Open alone this year! It really hasn't been a good place for them this year...Serena lost in a crushing defeat day before yesterday. And yesterday Venus played the world number 3, Agnieszka Radwanska, and...

      ...you guessed it...she lost 6-2, 6-3. :-(
Venus was playing at a major tournament for the first time since August of last year, when she had to withdraw before her second-round match at the U.S. Open. It was then that she revealed she had been diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome, a condition that can cause fatigue and joint pain.
That's why yesterday's defeat wasn't as devastating as Serena's the day before, because Venus wasn't slated to win the French Open, as Serena was. Venus is enjoying her play and  working at it at her own speed, and keeping a positive attitude. She says she's not allowed to feel sorry for herself. Good for her!!

In other tennis news...winning and moving on to the next round are Victoria Azarenka,...Roger Federer (who was made to work yesterday when Adrian Ungur gave him a bit of a hard time!...but he kept it cool all the way to the win.),...Novak Djokovic was actively stretched during his second round match too, against Blaz Kavcic. But he somehow pulled through! :-))
Already this morning Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova have won their matches; and Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal ("baby boy" ^_^),  and Wilfried Tsonga's matches are in progress.
Caroline Wozniacki, Li Na and Francesca Schiavone are all hoping to progress to the third round today...While Paul-Henri Mathieu (of France) vs John Isner is being touted as the match of the day!...You know where I'll be!! ^_^ **********

But, all that being said, sometimes you need a fuller spectrum of color going on...orange, yellow, blue and gray! :-) At least that's what me and AngelaDesign think! :-)) I say so...because I'm always all about color! And I was thankful to be included in her treasury! :-)

Talk about color!! :-) Here's a few of my favorites she chose...

(Cotton Canvas Shoulder Bag by askidas)

...And I'm really partial to this pick (below)! ^_^

Of course I 'would' be partial to this colorful little 'baby'....it's mine! ^_^ ...If you're interested in purchasing this little necklace, or any of my crochet creations, you can check them out in my Wuglyees shop--> HERE <--!

Okay...that's all I got for today! I hope I'm not boring you too much with the tennis updates and all, but sit back and relax. There's only another whole week and a half...or so...to go! LOL...I'm off to do some studying, watch a video, do some eating and crocheting, and maybe a nap...or two. ^_^ Have a good and colorful day, Everybody! :-)
