What Can I Do While It's Raining?!...Hmmmmm!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/186409687/time-for-shower-print-owl-rain-wall?ref=favs_view_4

Okay!...so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!...right?!! ^_^ I'm not talking about beating or joining people doing something though. I'm talking about the rain....UGH!...I've decided not to be a whiny baby about the rain any longer!....Wait! I have one more whine in me......*Wah, Wah, Wahhhhhhhiiiiiiine!*...Okay....now that I got that out of my system... ^_^ ...I've made the decision that since I can't beat the rain, I might as well find some ways to join in the spirit of rain...and be productive! :-]
So I'm gonna talk about the things I can do while it's raining....Well, more like while it's RAINING CATS AND DOGS!...*I just stopped myself and went over to Google to search what that expression means...'raining cats and dogs'....FASCINATING!! ^_^ The explanation makes the header photo I'm sharing today even more apropos!! ^_^ You can go and read about it yourself HERE if you like. FASCINATING!! ^_^*...Anyway! As I was saying, here are some of the things I can, and probably will do today, while it's raining!

I'll get myself washed and cleaned up, sorta like the owl in the header photo...and the hummingbird that's sitting on the tip of the branch outside my window. :-) The rain is pouring down and he's just sitting there, looking up and down, left and right, and, every once in a while, doing a little rain shiver dance...I'm assuming it's to get the accumulation of rain off of him. ^_^ All he needs is a bar of soap and a loofah sponge! LOL
I could go for a ride in the rain...virtually, in my mind, I mean. :-)) I'm not actually in the mood for being soaking wet! :-)) Although it is something I used to love to do in my younger years. :-] ... Hubby and I used to ride down to Hartford Connecticut, taking the back roads, and enjoying the scenery, while car dancing and stopping at every roadside fruit and vegetable stand we could find...and every soft-serve ice cream shop! :-)

https://www.etsy.com/listing/76487056/riding-in-the-rain-with-dad-10x7-fine?ref=favs_view_1

Speaking of virtual trips, I wonder what Paris in the rain would be like this time of year?! ^_^ ...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/123058465/paris-necklace-pendant-eiffel-tower?ref=favs_view_2
I think that would be a good trip to plan for hubby and I this coming Friday. ^_^ We do love 'virtual' dates to France, you know! ^_^

I could, and no doubt will, do some crocheting. :-] It's too wet outside to take pictures to share with you today, but trust me when I tell you...you probably wouldn't even recognize my two shawls now! ^_^ They're getting big and bulky, and taking up lots of space in my crochet nook! :-) They'll probably be all done by the beginning of next week! Do you believe that?! ^_^

I could write some poems while it's raining. I COULD...but I probably won't! Who wants to see another whiny poem from me about the weather?! LOL I've done plenty!! And I'm trying to cheer myself up while it's raining, not soak myself down in a flood of rainy wet tears!! :-))

I could use the opportunity while it's raining to do some extra cleaning, or read a book...but I don't WANT to clean!...Enough said about that! LOL

I could read a book...or books. I already did some Bible reading this morning, and some studying. But I asked hubby to go to the library and get me a couple of older books, Erma Bombeck's humorous books, to read. I'm in the mood to do some light reading, and I haven't sunk my teeth into anything substantially 'light' since I read 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'The Help'! It's time!! :-)

I could get hubby to play backgammon, Scrabble, or Uno with me!...but he gets moody when he loses to me now. And he 'will' LOSE!! LOL

I can call up some friends I haven't spoken to in a while!...*sigh*...I REALLY need to stay on top of doing that!! Time is so short, and things can change in people's lives so quickly!!...Read yesterday's post and you'll see what I mean. :-( ... I have lots of friends that I can call too!...so that's a great thing to do! :-]

I could talk hubby into baking me a cheesecake, or some chocolate peanut butter coconut cookies! YUM! :-) It's been a while since he's done that!!!...Or maybe I'll get him to make me some homemade soup! Soup is good for when it's raining right?...Northerners know!!...except...it's summertime. LOL

I could watch reruns of shows I missed , like 'American Pickers' or 'Storage Wars'! :-) I could also watch an old movie! I LOVE to do that, watch old black and whites, while it's raining! :-)

I could also put on some music, and sip on a cup of green tea, while boogieing...with balance! :-)) ... Or I could pull out one of my two guitars and finally try to learn how to play them!! O_O ... Nahhh! That's not gonna happen today. I got anxious just now, even saying I was gonna try to do that!! ^_^

I could exercise...No! I could set up my next doctor's appointment...No! I could get started on re-writing my book...No! I could do my nails...with all of the polish smells filling the room...No! I could do NOTHING!...Yeah. That works!! ^_^

Lastly, I could go and read a lot of your blogs to see what you're doing on this rainy Wednesday. :-) And I think I will...right now! :-) See you later! Have a good day, Everybody, raining or not! ♥

Rain Of Love

I sometimes love the rain,
and how it makes me think, again,
of our private time together-
(time I spent with my best friend).

There's something quieting to the soul
about the rainfall's pitter patter,
that makes your problems disappear,
and never really seem to matter.

Just lying cuddled on the bed,
talking softly, from the heart;
or sleeping through the thunder's rumble,
while the birds all flit and dart.

Is it normal to be smiling,
when the clouds are dark with rain?
(Maybe its just the perspective
of the twisted, wet, insane!)

At any rate-when he's at work,
and I am here, at home, alone,
and I see the drizzle starting-
I get him, quickly, on the phone.

I say: "Hi Honey, what you doing?"
He says: "What else, but think of you!"
You see,he saw the raindrops falling,
and he didn't know what to do!

He couldn't drop his work and run!
He said he had to use restraint.
(And if he had, I would be shocked!)
But I admit-the thought was quaint.

Okay! So what? We're kind of strange-
We never want the rain to end!
But, before you judge us crazy,
watch some raindrops with your friend,
and then, just read this poem again!

A Date In Fog And Rain?!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/166501999/nature-photography-dark-fog-rain-rain?ref=favs_view_3

Hello, from Massachusetts...where, if you don't like the present weather, all you have to do is wait a minute or two, and it'll change!! LOL
Yeah, that's my attempt at trying to 'make funny' about this crazy weather we're having! I complained and complained, for days, about all of the snow we were getting...and the ice on top of the snow!...*In fact, hubby almost had an accident last night because of slippery ice while it was sleeting! O_O*
And the weather today?!....Well, it's as if  someone heard me complaining about the snow and ice and said: "Oh!...so you don't like snow and ice?!....How about some rain and fog then?!!"
      Ugh!...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/104545842/fog-photography-fog-surrenders-8x8-fine?ref=favs_view_4

At least sintwister can make fog look nice! ^_^ But it's not gonna be good weather to travel in!...Tonight is 'Virtual Date Night!* :-)

I have to say though, that I'm amazed at how much the woodpeckers and black-capped chickadees seem to enjoy this crazy weather!! O_O Or is it that delicious suet feeder mixture that has them all fat and happy?! ^_^ They sit and swing, and then chirp away...like they're singing a happy song. :-)) Of course, the woodpeckers aren't singing!  They're either pecking away, or just sitting there on the feeder, or in the tree, sleepily looking around...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/179741662/downy-woodpecker-4-x-4-original-oil?ref=favs_view_1

Maybe the woodpeckers are thinking the same thing I am this morning: "What Next, Mr. Weather?!.....Locusts?!" :-))) ... Uhhhhhh.....we'll take the fog!! LOL...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/124406923/trees-in-spring-fog-landscape?ref=favs_view_2

Speaking of which, all of this fog and rain gave hubby and I a good idea for our 'date night' destination!..........................London, England!! ^_^

https://www.etsy.com/listing/86821977/love-card-youre-the-bangers-to-my-mash?ref=favs_view_1
    (Love Card by stilldez)

YAY! for a night of good music and 'easy peasy eats'!! I mean, who doesn't like raindrops on the window pane, and bangers and mash?!...That's sausages and mashed potatoes, for you non-Englanders!! :-) ... We may even pull out our 'Beatles' album!! ^_^
Okay...I'm off to wrap a package for shipping...*YES!! I actually got another sale in my shop!...a large one too!...5 items!! :-)* ... Then it's breakfast with my 'Honey'...who doesn't mind fog on our 'Virtual Date Day'. And I'm his kinda rain! LOL (with a nod to Tim McGraw. ^_^)...Then it'll be some staring out the window at the woodpecker...who will, no doubt, be staring back at me!! LOL...Have a good day, and a good weekend, Everybody!...no matter what the weather!! :-)

Put Your Records On...Yeah! There's Rain Maybe...and More Plants!!

If you saw yesterday's post, with all of the seedlings and plants that my hubby is growing in our backyard, you're probably looking at this screen right now and saying: "Okay, what now?!! And PLEASE don't let it be more plants!!!"...Sorry. ^_^ But at least you can click the above Youtube link, and 'Put your records on' while you scroll!...Here goes...AGAIN! ^_^

{I figured a little visual from the blog From Croatia....To The States wouldn't hurt either. :-)}
Hubby assures me that these are gonna be some GORGEOUS sunflowers in just a little while. He says they came up in the soil all in a row, but he didn't plant them that exactly! He was kinda impressed with their uniformity...He's easily impressed. ^_^
Okay...Now comes the plants that are out of 'Plant High School' and on their way to 'Plant College'! LOL
I think these are getting a 'Potted-Plant Bachelor's Degree'!! LOL
Okay, for now that's it!!...*WILD APPLAUSE ERUPTS* ^_^ But don't worry...in just a little while hubby will be twisting my arm and begging me "Pretty Please", to show you what else has popped up out in the backyard!...If you're not comatose by then...and there's a chance!...you'll get the full 'scoop'!! LOL
Our weather is suppose to give us a little break from the rain today. I say "suppose to"...because it's looking pretty dark outside still! But WHATEVER!!! I get annoyed at the constant-ness of it, but I have some good memories of rain. :-) So, if it rains I'll just spend my time crocheting away on my custom ordered hats...which I had gotten up to about 17 to 20 rows on...and had to TOTALLY take them a loose and start again!!!! UGH!
I have two different hooks that I use with them. One for the body of the hat, and one for the brim. Well, I started the hat, by accident, with the smaller hook!! I didn't notice until I got to the crown and it started to curl. Then I realized...."Hey! That's not gonna fit an adult's head...unless their head is the size of a walnut!!!" So, a loose it came! *smh* So far I'm back up to where I had left off...
I would have been further along, but I had company yesterday. My friend came over to eat breakfast and practice our talk together. We deliver it tomorrow.
Today I'll be crocheting like a fiend!! And singing in the rain....if and when it starts! :-)) Something tells me...it will! Weather men haven't been the most reliable prognosticators!! ^_^ I might as well get in the mood! If you wanna see how, click the link below. :-)...Have a good day everybody!! :-)

I Felt like Dancing In The Rain Today...Wonder Why?!

Yep! It's that time again!!!....It's Giveaway Day! And it's Kind of a good day to be put in a good mood by giving something away too. It's dark and rainy out. :-(
On a good note though, I also woke up with Gordon Lightfoot's song "Rainy Day People" playing in the play-list of my mind. Appropriate! ^_^ I was gonna share it with you, but Youtube didn't have a video of it....SHOCKING! LOL Youtube ALWAYS has a video of every song that pops up in my head! But not this time.
I had to go to my play-list on Grooveshark.com to listen to it sang by Gordon himself before I could get it to stop playing over and over in my head!! *shaking my head* My brain! My brain!! LOL
It took some work, but I replaced that song in my head with another one. I posted that one below. {It WAS on Youtube! :-)}
Okay, two more things: The Yoyo bag now has the beginnings of a top! It took a while for me to get the right amount of stitches around. It wasn't the directions. The directions were perfect. My brain, however,...was not! LOL It didn't feel like counting stitches yesterday. It was suppose to have 150 stitches around. I kept ending up with 138.....144...etc. But finally....150! YAY!!!
I did 8 simple single crochet rows and then had to do the row where you make the drawstring loops...
It counted out perfectly!! :-) And it looks pretty good too!...Today I should finish it, except for the lining.....the lining.....THE LINING!!! UGH! I'm not looking forward to that! I'm already getting flashbacks from High School Home Economic's class! *cold shiver*
ANYWAY!!!.....Time to name the Giveaway winner!...As usual, all of those who entered were put in my trusty Giveaway box, and hubby reached in to pull up the name...Hmmmm....his hand's not ashey this morning! LOL (He lotioned it up this time. It's starting to be a concern for his "ham" of a hand! LOL)
And the winner is....
...delia hornbook!!! Congratulations Dee! :-) Just email me your address and it'll be off to you as soon as possible!! Maybe today!
Now that that Giveaway is over...on to the next! I'll put the details up on the Giveaway page. Check the right-hand side bar. Click on the picture. All of the particulars will be there!...But I had Baby Wuglyee show you a glimpse of what it is! :-)
If you have a baby, or know someone with one, or could use a cool baby gift, you'll like this one! {I made it on a day when I was bored...It might've been a rainy day like today! :-)}
Okay, I'm off to have breakfast with my honey, do some reading, work on my Yoyo bag, enjoy my meeting about 'trust', and maybe dance! :-) It's gonna be a good day I think. :-) I hope you have a good day today too. And..."I Hope You Dance" (by Lee Ann Womack)...

Dance

Life is a dance, they always say.
It has a rhythm and a rhyme,
It makes you set a pace, while it
flows in the stream of time.

And dancing has expressions
that I think are kinda neat,
like dancing eyes and dance of joy,
happy dance and dancing feet.

Whatever dance you do today,
I hope life pleases you.
It really doesn't matter how.
Just dance! I hope you do!

Fun Fur and Rainy Mondays!!

This photo, one of the many beautiful ones courtesy of Silja Erg, gave me a warm fuzzy feeling about the morning...and about the weather. And I needed it this morning because.....it's raining, sleeting, and snowing all together here in Holyoke! I want to sing "Here comes the sun", but I'm not sure it will!!!
Oh well, as always, I'll have to keep my head down, keep moving my fingers so they don't stiffen up, and crochet, crochet, crochet!!! I'm thinking of starting some fingerless mittens today. Either red or gray. What would be your preference?!
I just finished listing the two new things I finished over the weekend. Look--> ↓
It's a very soft scarf with a washable fun fur yarn on the end. I made the fun fur at two different thicknesses on either end. I don't know why, but I like things a little uneven, Asymmetrical, or a little off...like me!! ^_^
This reminds me of the cute little cartoon I saw on the blog Blooming Lovely..I'll go get it and share. First, though, let me show you the other project I finished yesterday!
I made a matching pull-on hat to go with the scarf! What I was really trying to do was use up the rest of the winter white yarn so I wouldn't have another little ball of yarn laying around! It WAS going to be just an ear muff head band....but it didn't want to be an ear muff head band!!! ^_^ It wanted to go to the BIG TIME and be a fashionable pull-on hat!! So....there you go!!
I can see someone wearing this on the ski slopes in Aspen Colorado right now. Can't you?!! ^_^ It won't be ME!!.....But somebody! I can't ski, don't like to be cold and wet, and would not go at some ungodly speed, out of control, down a hill, knowing how far away the hospital will be, and that they'd get a good laugh at my expense having to come to find out what that dark round speck was down there in the distance!! Ha! Ha! Ha!...But I would wear this cute hat in the ski LODGE, while I sipped on some hot apple cider, next to the big pretty fireplace (like in Mariann's Calendar!). ^_^
I have another scarf already done that I have to list later today or tomorrow in my Wuglyees shop, the purple one with the alternating multicolor patches. I guess being in a good mood from the weekend is going to be a good mental state to be in to crochet this week. It'll have to be, to counteract all this darkness and snow, sleet and rain!!!
Okay, just for laughs...and then a poem.
You'll have to follow the link over to her blog to find out what I said to her about this!!!! ^_^

He helped Me Find My Love Of Rain Again!!!

TOGETHER IN THE STORM...by Leonid Afremov.
It rained here in Holyoke all day yesterday!...I used to LOVE the rain!! As those who read my blog regularly know, I come from a small town in the Southern United States. In Georgia, when it rained, it would hit the tin roofs and make the sweetest music. But since I moved up North I've lost my love of rain.
Now, when I see the weather report and it has the forecast of rain, my feeling is "UGH!" I want to throw my hands in the air, fling myself across the bed, and scream "Whyyyyyyyyy???!!!" But last night I decided to find my love for rain again....because we're certainly gonna get it over the next few days here in Massachusetts!!! I figured I needed to change my mind about it...since I can't change the weather! LOL
So I want you to treat today's blog like a gallery showing, featuring one artist. The artist that helped me find my love of rain again!!! :-) ...But first, really quickly, let me tell you that my Pistachio yarn finally came!!!
And I've been hard at work on my custom order and some other things too!! I'll share those with you tomorrow, if the rain clears up enough for me to take the pictures!...Okay, now be on your best behavior in the Wuglyees Gallery today. We've got an international artist in our midst!!
Our featured artist today is the professional Internationally known artist, Leonid Afremov. His Etsy shop is afremovart. Amazingly enough Leonid was born in the same town as Marc Chagall, the famous artist who also founded the Vitebsk Art School along with Malevich & Kandinsky.
He tried different techniques during his career, but he especially fell in love with painting with oil and pallette-knife. Look at some of his work! I especially love ...his rain!! AT THE STEPS...
    INVITATION...
    LAST DATE...
     LATE RETURN...
    NIGHT TROLLEY...
     RAIN PRINCESS...
Every piece of his artwork is the result of a long painting process;....He says that each of his paintings brings different moods, colors and emotions....You certainly can see that in the beautiful colors and mood of his....rain!
    SCENT OF RAIN...
    STROLL IN AUTUMN...
    UMBRELLAS...
    UNDER ONE UMBRELLA...
Leonid says he loves to express the beauty, harmony and spirit of this world in his paintings. His heart is completely open to art. Thus, he enjoys creating inspired and beautiful paintings from the bottom of his soul. Each piece of his artwork reflects his feelings, sensitivity, and passion. He says he believes that art helps us to be free from aggression and depression. He may be right....because I certainly am not feeling any agression or depression about the rain today!! :-)
    UNDER THE RAIN...
Currently his art is being collected all over the world. There are many pleased collectors in the USA, Israel, Italy, France, England, Spain, Norway, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries.
    WARM WINTER...
     WAY TO HOME.

If you visit Leonid's Etsy shop you will see that rain is not his only inspiration. He has some absolutely beautiful paintings of many other things.
You can purchase oil paintings directly from him at the best price, without any resellers, retailers and galleries, directly from his etsy shop or his website.
So, are you absolutely sick of rain now, or are you in love with it...like I am again?!! :-) Thank you Leonid for reminding me of wonderful childhood memories of musical pitter patter symphonies of rain on Georgia tin roofs! I love rain!!!
