Rained Out!...But Holding Onto My Mittens!!

My photos aren't good enough for me to show you the pouring rain, and trust me when I tell you, you don't wanna see it anyway!! In fact, the header photo was taken yesterday evening, before the pouring rain actually got here!

The forsythia was growing wild and tall, with bumblebees galore all over them!! And the sun was shining beautifully!...Cut to this morning when we opened the blinds....*gulp!*..."What happened to the forsythia?!!!" O_O ...The rain had beat it down to the ground!! The only thing I could see in my window was the hanging hummingbird feeder, and lots and lots of backyard lawn!!
As the day has worn on, the forsythia has slowly crept back up...Well, most of it has!...I would show you a picture, but it's so dark outside that I can't get a decent shot! Grrr!  By tomorrow it'll probably be back to it's wild and tall self, and you'll wonder what I was talking about! ^_^

I don't have much time to talk right now anyway. I have to get me a nap before my meeting tonight!! You know...old people gotta sleep!! ^_^ But, before I go, let me show you one of the finished mint green mittens! :-) ...

Since I took this picture I've actually finished both mittens. But again...no light to take a proper photo! :-( ... Keep that in mind when you look at my 'Picassa'-altered photos below, of the last 'yucky-yarn' hat!...

The hat shows up good in the pictures, but who is that underneath the hat?! LOL Oh well...you've seen 'Shequita' look better, I'm sure. But trust me, it's her!! ^_^ And you can take my word for it too that she is "sportin' that hat"!!! ^_^

I started a scarf to go with the mittens, and I'm making up my own pattern for it. Creativity...here I come!! ^_^ If I finish it tomorrow...and the weather cooperates!...I'll take picture and show it to you. If not....I'll find something else to talk about, like maybe...DATE NIGHT!!! ^_^ Have a good one, Everybody!! ♥ :-)

Daylight

Daylight, you bring such happiness,
shining on the Autumn hues.
And when you're gone, you leave more darkness,
bringing on some moody blues.

How could some light, or lack of it,
have me waxing poetic rhyme,
wishing for a place with celestial money,
so I could buy some Daylight Saving Time?!

It's A 'Pink' Kind Of Day!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/182647947/common-redpoll-photography-adorable?ref=favs_view_1

There's not much going on around here, except that Daylight Savings Time has occurred. And for our area that means that none of the daylight is being saved from occurring earlier than normal around here anymore!! LOL It's getting dark so early in the evening now! Like, around five-ish!! O_O
All of those lovely pink hues of a late evening sunset...*sigh*...gone! Oh well, I'll just have to find my pink hues in other places!...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/126684360/pink-ballerina-dancer-original?ref=favs_view_3

Look at the lovely pink hues on the redpoll bird in the header photo, and on the ballet dancer's tutu in the beautiful watercolor print above. :-]

I'm working with some pink hues of my own...scarf-wise. :-] The scarf I was working on yesterday is all done now...

And I've already started another one! ^_^ This one is gonna be in two shades of pink, and white. And it's superbly soft too!! In fact the baby pink is a kind of fuzzy soft yarn...

I love having soft scarves next to my face and skin in the wintertime. Don't you?!...

https://www.etsy.com/shop/wuglyees?section_id=6006578&ref=shopsection_leftnav_9

The crochet hook I'm using is the new bamboo crochet hook I got in the mail today...size 'P' (17). It's the size of my old wooden crochet hook that I was using as my scarf-making hook...the one I can't find! Grrrr!
The only thing I don't like about this hook is that the handle isn't long enough for me. I didn't realize it until now, but with my arthritis flaring up from time to time...including today!...having the longer hook was a way of resting the other part of my hand somehow...Don't try to get me to explain it, because I can't!! LOL I don't know how my hands 'work'. I just know how they feel when I crochet the wrong way for any period of time....OUCH!!
Unless I find my old 'Go To' wooden crochet hook pretty soon, I fear that it might take a bit longer for this 'pink-hued' baby to get finished!...

As with all things I talk about on this blog...I'll keep you posted! ^_^

By the way, there was no pink in this treasury anywhere, but I still wanna show it to you...

...because the curator was thoughtful enough to add my beaded button crochet brooch to it! :-) ... THANK YOU!! ♥

There's no other news to report. There have been no more coyote sightings. No mother-in-law moving in....YET! And no new dinner concoctions from hubby's kitchen! ^_^ There also have still been no sales in my wuglyees Etsy shop!! Ugh!........A pink grapefruit mimosa sounds good about now!! LOL

What Do You Do When You Have The 'Droopy Sleepies'?!

I am sooo enjoying Fall, but I have a very bad....VERY bad....case of the 'droopy sleepies'!! Do you know what I'm talking about?!...You know, that feeling where you don't wanna do anything unless you're pushed into it...and pushed hard! And where you just wanna sleep the day away...Well, that's me now. And that's been me for a few days.
I can't seem to get out of my own way!!...Admittedly, some of it is that I don't feel very well...still. It's been rainy and dreary and I still have a bit of a raspy throat, and some aches and pains, from that virus...But the 'droopy sleepies' are not just because of that! I know because I haven't even wanted to crochet!! O_O ...I KNOW!!!!...Unheard of!!!
Hopefully everything will go back to normal soon...In the meantime I'm gonna keep enjoying the Fall view around here...

...which includes some beautiful flowers still hanging on! :-) ...

I know they'll all be gone soon. :-( ... But then...

...so will the 'droopy sleepies'!...Or at least, I sure hope so! O_O ...*yawn*...Have a good day, Everybody!

'A Day Late...And A Dollar Short'!

The idiom about being 'a day late and a dollar short' has to do with how people can sometimes be late and ill-prepared for things...and that's me today! 'Late' because I was suppose to do this post yesterday! It's title is Rainy Tuesdays...!...See what I mean?! ^_^ Aargh! I'm a day late!...
Anyway!...Thanks to SunshineTextiles for adding my Chocolate Nut Brownie on a Rainy Day Crochet Shawl Scarf...
...And for adding some other really cute things I like too, including the mug in the header photo, and these...

And please forgive me for sharing your treasury on a Wednesday instead of a Tuesday, and on a day when it's NOT raining, because the rain is not due until tomorrow, which is a Thursday and not a Tuesday! LOL...*shaking my head*
I'm also a day late to show you what I've been working on lately...Headbands! :-) I know...you're asking yourself: "Why headbands, Poetesswug?"...And the answer is: "uhhhh...I don't know!" LOL
Not really. I know why...but the answer is just as random as me saying: "Uhhh...I don't know!"... ^_^ ...because it started with me seeing this in one of my Etsy searches...
Isn't that a cute headband?! :-) And as soon as I saw that crocheted flower on it.....I was 'in'!! :-) And 'off'!...to make some headbands of my own!...
This is the one I started with. It's three strands of yarn crocheted together....I'm all about warmth when it comes to a winter-time headband. It's brown and red...
...and it has one of my large vintage old buttons on it. The button is half black and half white...
I made it to fit a 21 inch round head...because that's the size of Shequita's head (my body-less model)...I would've had some pictures of Shequita with the headband on for you to see, but the 'daylight saving time' is not saving enough time for my resident photographer (hubby) to get out there and take them! He's leaving home in the dark, and coming home in the dark now! Aargh!...He's due home early today though, so we'll see if I can get a few shots today.
You're late seeing the headband though...or should I say 'headbands'?!...because I finished another one already!  ^_^
This one is made of two specialty yarns, one being angel hair. It's very very soft!..And I used the little pinback pin that I won in the recent Giveaway, instead of a regular button...
I thought it gave the headband more character...What do you think?!...
And guess what?...I've already started another one!...
This one is three strands of Caron Simply Soft yarn. Black, gray and white...
I'm a bit further along than these photos now. I'll probably be all done with it before the rain gets here tomorrow...or at least I hope so!...O-U-C-H-I-E-ness is definitely gonna slow me down.
Are you wondering where the 'dollar short' part comes in?!.....It's always in!!! LOL But since I ....
      (also by AbsoluteJewelry)
       ....I didn't elaborate on that part!! ^_^
One thing's for sure...I'm never short on something to talk about! ^_^ And tomorrow.......I'll try to be on time, prepared, and more myself than ever!! You'll have to come back and see if I accomplish it! Ha! Ha!...Have a good day everybody!! :-)

Fall And Backyard Daylight.....Before It's Gone!!

No! This is not my backyard. You can tell because there's no lake in my backyard, and while I 'do' have rabbits, hummingbirds, wasps, squirrels and skunks...I don't have a duck! :-) No, this is not my backyard. This photograph is of Lake Needwood in Montgomery County Maryland...Didn't she take a beautiful picture of it?!! :-)
If I had a good enough camera, and a faster-on-his-feet husband I could have gotten a picture of the big skunk that was meandering across our yard last night though! LOL...Maybe next time! The skunk moved faster than hubby....waaaay faster!
My husband is more of a 'meanderer'...like the duck in the header photo. And his meandering, while not good for capturing skunks on the run, is very good for capturing panoramic views of our backyard as it's showing a bit of it's Fall colors!...Let's pan from left to right, shall we!...
Ahhhhh! It's so nice out there right now. The stuff seasonal poems, hot apple cider, cornbread stuffing and sweet dreams are made of! :-) ... Now let's pan back the other way, shall we!...
Wait a minute!....Let's get a little closer view of that color back there...
Our backyard is mostly green year round...except for when it's covered with ice and snow (but that's a story for a later time!...Much later, please!)...So, when I see this explosion of color back here it gives me a little emotional explosion too...right here...--> *pointing to my heart*. :-]
     Okay...back to the panning...
And now we're right back to where we started. :-) I hope you enjoyed that as much as I did!! I'm afraid there won't be very many more days where Fall photos can be taken in the backyard. Pretty soon the few pops of color we're getting from these beautiful leaves will be gone...blown away by a north east wind!
And this morning, as I'm typing and realizing that it's 20 minutes before 7 a.m. and it's still dark outside, I get the funny feeling that 'Daylight Saving Time' in our neck of the woods is just about to skedaddle off to some other neck of the woods until next year too! :-(
I guess I better start thinking seriously about what kinds of projects I wanna get to work on this winter...
            ...*cold shiver* O_O
Anyway...I'm probably gonna need another project to work on a lot sooner than winter, because I finished doing both of the Giveaway scarves...except for cutting and tying the fringe for them.
I had to take the 'Pastel' ones completely a loose and start again!! That's what I did all day yesterday...So, if you're thinking of entering the Giveaway for the 'Pastel' scarf, this is what it looks like now...
So, if you're still interested in this scarf, remember...the Giveaway drawing is October 1st!!...See the right hand sidebar for details.
Okay, I'm off to cut some fringe, and maybe 'cut-a-rug' too! I need to get out of this 'No Daylight Soon',...'Hormones Acting-Up'..funk I'm in. I'm feeling like listening to some music, after another cup of coffee, might help!!! ^_^ Are you with me?!!

You Go, Girls!!!.....Tomorrow I gotta tell you what other funky-moving object was seen in the backyard yesterday!...Until then...Have a good day Everybody!! :-)
