"I Have A Cramp In My 'Virtual' Calf!!"

https://www.etsy.com/listing/103823248/5-cards-roller-skating-pair-giraffes?ref=favs_view_2

      If you follow my blog regularly you know that my hubby and I go on a 'virtual' date every Friday night. In other words, we spend time alone every Friday doing something, or traveling somewhere, online. It used to be something we did 'in real life' every Friday back when my health was better. But now we just do the same things...'virtually'! ^_^
      Yesterday we went 'virtual' roller skating! ^_^ There's a skating rink up in Vernon Connecticut that we had some fun at 'back-in-the-day', and we hadn't been there in a long, long time! So we decided we would pull out the old...and decrepit!...roller skates and take them for a little spin...to music! :-)
      It wasn't long before we figured out that we're OLD!!! LOL Or, should I say, our bodies aren't as young and flexible as they used to be! Yeah! That's it!!! ^_^ We enjoyed the music...except for a few repetitive bouncy songs that are still in our heads 16 hours later!! LOL But our calves and thigh muscles are sporting some massive cramps and soreness that no Calgon bath will cure! O-U-C-H!!! :-))
      Needless to say, we're thinking that maybe a marathon NAP might be a good date for next Friday night! LOL

      I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately, but I've been doing more focusing on crocheting lately, trying to get some product together to sell in order to try to make some money to keep the bills paid!...Hubby still hasn't been able to find work, and things are rather TIGHT!! O_O We're getting by though. And, so far, all of the bills are getting paid...even if it's by a squeeze every time!! ^_^

      Here's a few of the things I've been making:

      And yes! These are my tired old 'roller skating rinked out' tootsies!! ^_^ Don't say NOTHING!!!! LOL I have no delusions of grandeur when it comes to my feet!!

      I've been having all kinds of fun making these barefoot sandals though!! ^_^ Even my big ole feet can fit them!!...because most of them tie in the back!! ^_^

      Before I take off today, let me thank Regina for sharing one of my crochet flower necklaces in her Etsy treasury! ♥

          It was a pleasure to share the spotlight with all of the other items she chose! :-) This was one of my favorites from her treasury :-) ...

      Very Cute!! ^_^

      Okay, I'm off to do some research for next week's 'virtual' date night! :-)) Hopefully it won't be two weeks before you see me again!! LOL...

      Have a good rest of the weekend!...and for those of you watching the NBA finals along with us....GO CLEVELAND CAVALIERS!!! ^_^ Or, if you're rooting for the OTHER team, go golden state warriors. Whatever!! LOL...Of course I'm fooling around! ^_^ The games have actually been so fun!!! And no matter who wins, I have thoroughly enjoyed the time with my hubby, with both of us yelling at the tv! ^_^
      The series is tied up, 2-2 right now. Another game is tomorrow (Sunday). The best 4 of 7 will win the series. I'm looking very forward to the games!! :-) I get to yell at the tv, spend time with hubby playing UNO, crochet, eat, or whatever ALL AT THE SAME TIME!! ^_^ It's a total WIN/WIN!! ^_^ ... And then.....a nap breaks out!! LOL ZZzzzzzz! :-))

Be The Best You Can Be

I live my life every day,
trying to be the very best I can,
so that I am not affected
by the degrading words of man.

If "I" know who I am,
then I don't care what others think;
I don't end up in some bar,
trying to hide my pain with drink.

Oh Yes! THEY have opinions
on what THEY think you should do,
on how you wear your hair,
where you should go, also with who!

I nod and give a grin,
respecting what they want to say;
but it's 'my' thoughts that count
at the end of the day.

It makes it so much easier
when I'm being the best I can;
Then I feel good about my choices;
I don't fear words from any man!

'Friday Date Night'...And Things My Parents Taught Me!

      With so much going on this week, hubby and I have been kinda slow about nailing down our plans for our 'virtual' date tonight. So, when we woke up to darkness this morning...Ugh!...we decided to have a little conversation, and try to figure out where we wanted to go!
      Well, as it turned out, the conversation was more about where we 'didn't' wanna go! O_O The world is so crazy right now that traveling is losing it's thrill!...And as the sun came up....Ahhhhhh! :-) The backyard is getting more and more full of color!!!...

      Not a bad sight for tired morning eyes, right?! ^_^...

      Anyway, we finally started talking about places we 'could' travel to, and have some fun!...

      That led to a hilarious conversation about things our parents taught us growing up, and how ridiculous it is that we still, in some ways, are following through on their advice! ^_^ Well...on 'some of it'!!! LOL I'll give you some 'for instances'!...
     For instance, our parents taught us to be respectful of other people, and to have good manners...

      Hubby's mom and dad taught him never to fight with a woman...and to hold doors for them. :-) They also told him never to 'bad mouth' (verbally be disrespectful of) anyone older than him...(My mom taught me that too!! ^_^)...I am happy to report that my hubby listened well! And he's still good like that! :-)
      My mother taught me how to cook...how to cut potatoes with a knife...how to make cornbread stuffing from scratch...how to make the best peach cobbler in the world!...and how to make the best gravy in the world too...*browning the onions, adding a flour and water mixture, salt and pepper, (I also add a little hot pepper seeds now...YUM!) and a little bit of dry coffee grounds to it!* ^_^
     But....and thus the reason for me talking about this here on the blog... ^_^ ...my parents also taught me some silly things! And some of those things have me still scratching my head forty years later!! LOL
     For instance...my mom taught me to always have a threaded needle stuck in the back side of a hung curtain. :-)) I know...you're thinking: "WHAT?!!"...but 'back in the day', when people actually sewed everything by hand, a needle 'at-the-ready' in case something came a loose or needed a little hemming, was a big deal!...And I can't tell you how many times that actually came in handy, having that threaded needle in the curtain! :-)

      Another thing my mother taught me when I was young was to ALWAYS keep a dime in your shoe...in case you ended up somewhere and needed to call home...or call the police! :-)) Well, needless to say, this advice no longer would even make sense! LOL Phone booths don't take money anymore!...and if they did, it would certainly be more than a dime to call anyone! LOL
      Along those same lines was the advice my hubby was given, to always try to keep enough money on him to call a cab (taxi) if case he got stranded somewhere!...The suggestion was always a twenty ($20) dollar bill!...

       Ha!...You can't even get to the corner for twenty dollars in a cab now! ^_^

      And of course there's the 'tried and true' advice to always wear clean underwear! LOL I mean...suppose you get in an accident or something!! ^_^ That advice always tickled me, because by the time the police and firefighters get there to cut you out of the mangled car...your underwear will probably not be clean anymore anyway!!! LOL

      Of course, there's also some things I learned from my father!..."I love you, Daddy!" ♥ ... but they were the things that I'm still scratching my head about! ^_^ Things like 'never sweep anybody's feet with a broom...because that means they'll be going to jail!' O_O ...And if the palm of your hand starts itching that means you're gonna get some money from somewhere. O_O
     Yes...my father was very superstitious. It was mind-numbing at times too!...On New Year's Day we were not allowed to leave our house until a man...any man...came through the front door. O_O And if a black cat crossed our path going to the right, it was suppose to be good luck. But if it crossed our path, going to the left...we were suppose to RUN!!!!...in the opposite direction...F-A-S-T!!! LOL
      As an adult, and one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I don't believe in superstition, or luck. But I still remember the things my father believed. Some of them he STILL believes to this day!!...I'm working on him though. ^_^

      Ooooo! Look at the time!! O_O And I'm not outta bed...or packed for a trip...or nothing!! :-)) I don't even have any idea where we're going!!...Or what I'm going to wear!...

      Considering the colorful backyard we're looking at...maybe we'll just stay in bed and stare out of the window at the leaves all day! :-) I'll keep you informed. ^_^ ...Have a good weekend, Everybody!...and be sure to listen to your parents....sorta, kinda. LOL

Going Out With My Baby

Going out with my baby.
Or going nowhere, but it's alright.
Playing games and constant laughing.
I think it's gonna be a great 'Date Night'!

Going out with my baby.
Or staying in, and hugging tight.
Eating all the things we shouldn't.
But smiling through every single bite!

Going out with my baby.
And visiting 'virtually' every sight.
All dressed up or in our jammies,
We're having fun. You know that's right!!

'Virtual Friday' ♫ La La ♫ Love Fest!

      Yep! Another Friday is upon us...and another chance for a 'virtual' Friday date for us! ^_^ As usual, there will be food. There will be togetherness. There will be 'virtual' travel. And there will be words and music! :-)
       Hubby and I had a conversation the other night about how silly we were when we were dating. We used to go for long rides in the car, come back home, and sit outside in front of the house in the car holding hands and stuttering our way through giddy 'lovesick' conversation. ^_^ Or sorta kinda what we would call conversation! Ha! Ha! It really was more like staring at each other, spitting out a word here and there, and smiling! LOL
      For the sake of having a romantic remembrance, we may do the same thing today, go for a 'virtual' ride in the car!!! ^_^ And listen to music...of course! :-) ... That's what we'll be doing. What about you?!
       While you think about whether you wanna share what you're gonna be doing with me, let me share some words and music with you! ^_^ ...

      And I'll share with you that our long 'virtual' ride in the car is heading New York way! :-) Uhhhh...with so much scary stuff happening in the world, and wildfires in the western direction from us, we decided to stick close to home...but still not too close to home!...

     And, of course, I'm gonna take some thread and a crochet hook in the car with me! ^_^ I'm on a date, not gone crazy!!! ^_^ ...

      I like my 'virtual' dates!...I like crocheting!...I like my hubby!...and

       Have a good Friday, and a good weekend, Y'all! :-) I hope you find some music...and I hope you dance!!

Virtual trip

I really like to travel,
See the world, expand my mind.
But not getting on an airplane,
or hunting luggage I can't find!

I like a 'good ole' virtual trip.
Computer details. Music too.
Where you don't need a 'stinking' passport,
or have to wear a 'stinking' shoe!

But a little stay at home,
under covers, lock and key,
can also be expansive.
Even if it's 'virtually'

Friday Date Night...Haute Couture Style!

      Bear with me on this one, Y'all! I have to try to figure out how to tell you some news without telling you any details.....Hmmmmm...I give up! ^_^ Let's just say that 'couture' has something to do with it...if it works out!...Is that vague enough?! ^_^

      Anyway!...I had to do a whole 'snap education' on the difference between 'couture'...'haute couture'...and...'bespoke'. Who knew there were so many ways to say 'Just for you, and only you, baby!' LOL
    I know this applies to my hubby, because he's 'just for me, and only me....baby!'...especially on Fridays! ^_^ But 'haute couture', Wikipedia says, is something that's made to order for a specific customer, and it's usually made from high-quality, expensive fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished by the most experienced and capable seamstresses. It also says that "Haute" means elegant or high, and that a haute couture garment is made specifically for the wearer’s measurements and body stance.
     Hmmm...Well, you know where I headed! ^_^ "Here I come, Etsy! What do you have that's 'couture' or 'haute couture'?! :-) ... I found the hobo bag in the header photo, and these two pieces...

        Actually, I found a whole lot more. I just don't have time to show them to you! ^_^ And besides, I got side-tracked when I saw these!!!...

      They may not be 'couture' or 'haute couture', but they sure are stylishly beautiful!!!! :-]

     I'll have to tell you the rest of my personal story with couture later...whichever way it turns out! :-) ... In the meantime, let me share a couple of my latest boutonnieres...

      They 'could be' couture...if you wanted them to be!! ^_^ I'm all about doing a custom order!! Just contact me and tell me what you want! :-)

      Right now I'm interested in getting me some 'couture' breakfast, a 'couture nap', and maybe a 'couture date' tonight!! ^_^ What can I say...I have my own agenda..especially on Fridays!! ^_^ ... What are your plans tonight and this weekend?!...Whatever it is, have a good one!! :-)

That Something Different

I like things that are different.
Things that somehow catch my eye.
Things not quite 'Just The Same'.
Things that make me want to buy.

I can't put my finger on it
as to why they move me so.
They're not whimsical or gory;
And not lavish. This I know.

Sometimes it's just their color.
Other times it's how they're worn;
Or Sometimes it's just how beautifully
they're painted, sewn, or torn.

With 'Different' as the gauge,
it could be most anything.
I guess that's why I keep on looking.
Hoping for that 'Different' zing.

When I find that 'Something Different',
I'll pay cash or click or dial;
Or I may just show it off;
(Like I just did) and sit and smile.

Friday 'Date Night' Drive-By Fall Foliage Shooting

     It's Friday. Can you believe it?!...This week has flown by!! Hubby and I didn't even get to talk about what we wanted to do, or where we wanted to go, for 'Friday Date Night' this week! Oh Well! It's just as well, because, with the colors popping out all over town, now would not be a good time to be going somewhere else anyway! :-) Staying near home and taking in the scenery is the best 'date night' we could have come up with! :-)
      We took a kind of pre-'date night',...in the afternoon...ride around town, to check the foliage out while we could see it. Hubby, of course, brought along the camera. :-] So, sit back and relax! :-)) ...

     It was so peaceful and serene...and wet and rainy...*sigh*...So, needless to say, having a picnic was out!...

       It may be a napping kind of night! ^_^

       The weather certainly works for that! LOL...

     Or we could order something yummy in, and play board games...

       But why would we waste all of this beauty by being inside, staring at a board game?! :-] ...Although the eating something yummy part is still on the table...so to speak. :-))

     It may be a case of the two of us laying around, staring out the window, counting the stars through the raindrops. :-)) But whatever it is, we're gonna enjoy our 'date night' like we always do.

     Okay, the drive-by tour is all done...for now anyway. I'm sure I won't be able to keep the camera out of Mr. Wug's hands for long with all of the Fall/Autumn colors not at their peak yet. :-) ...That is, if the rain doesn't beat all the leaves off the trees before they finish turning colors! Grrr!
      What are your plans this weekend?!...Do you have a 'date night' planned?!...If so, maybe you can share some of your 'stay-cation' ideas with us. We're old and set in our ways....and so our our bones on rainy days like this! ^_^ Jumping through hoops and out of airplanes is just fodder for laughter at this point!...We wanna enjoy the day, maybe hold hands, and be able to get up tomorrow without applying Ben-Gay and liniment!! ^_^ Oh yeah, and we wanna listen to some music and eat something yummy. Those are a must!! :-) ...Have a good weekend, Everybody!!
