No...It's Not A Glass Slipper, But There Is An 'OLD' Story!

      Guess what?....It's not snowing in Holyoke!....at the moment! LOL It's been stopped just long enough for me to gather my thoughts for this blog post! ^_^ And long enough for me to show you the latest crochet project I finished!...

      Say hello to my hubby's sock-laden feet, and his new crochet slippers! ^_^ Wearing them with the socks was 'his' idea!! LOL But I give him a pass, because we're getting to be such old people now that keeping those 'tootsies' warm...under as many layers as we can get...is a national pastime for which no explanation is too much to use!! ^_^

       I'm also putting the color choice on him!...but his age had nothing to do with that!! LOL Let's chock that up to 'good taste'?!!!...That's his story anyway! ^_^ Who am I to argue with an old man with toasty warm feet! ^_^

      They're not football slippers, but they are slippers! Slippers that fit him well, and that he's totally enamored with. So.....SCORE!! ^_^

      It's not easy finding comfort for a pair of size thirteens!!...but this time I did it!! ^_^
 

      I made another one...before I made hubby's...as a 'prototype'. That slipper...burgundy, with a red sole...will be getting a big crochet flower, and maybe a big button, and will be filled with fruity tootsie rolls!! :-) Yep!...another crochet candy holder! ^_^ I'm a fan of holders.

      I'm also a fan of snow-less skies!...but I haven't had a lot of those lately!! LOL We have another 4 to 6 inches on the way by Saturday night into Sunday.....UGH!...The state of Massachusetts has had to get really creative about how to get rid of all of this 'white stuff'!...large heat blowers, dump trucks, re-located ski and sled slopes, etc... ^_^ There's even a company making a ton of money on 'roof ice-removal'!!...I suppose somebody should be able to say something good about it!! :-)

      Okay...off I go to find my next project, or take a nap! ^_^ Have a good rest of the day, Y'all!! ♥

Just When You Think...

Just when you think you've got it bad
you see that someone's got it worse!
You complain: "My aches and pains...",
but see that some folks need a nurse!

Just when the weather's got you mad
and the snow's too deep to run,
you see the melting everywhere...

And look again!...and there's the sun!

Just when you think: "I'll just move on,
and find something else to do",
there's another blog post finished...

      No surprise as to what I'm gonna talk about this morning, right?! ^_^ The Australian Open is almost over. There's only one more championship match to play...Novak Djokovic versus Andy Murray. That match will be tonight. Or should I say in the morning...because we'll get the match at 3 a.m in the morning!

      3 a.m. was what time I was awake this morning to see Li Na...

        ...versus Victoria Azarenka...

     What a good...wild...wacky....match it was too!...An ankle sprain, a head whack with question of a concussion, a ten minute delay for fireworks, and a boo-ing crowd! O_O Wild.....wacky!

      But the tennis was fabulous!!....Let me just say right now that if you don't wanna know who won........click away from the page NOW! ^_^ ...It's what one of the female commentators would affectionately refer to as "Big Babe Tennis!"...In other words, two heavy hitting, talented female players whacking away at the ball! :-)

      Oh! The angles!.....Oh! The power!....Oh! The unexpected!! O_O It went three sets, and the whole time you could've held your breath! Sooooo good!...except when Li Na fell and twisted her ankle, and then later in the match...she fell again!, seemingly to avoid twisting the other ankle...and ended up whacking the back of her head on the court!! O_O

    Li Na won the first set. Victoria Azarenka won the second. But in the end...

      ...Azarenka took home the trophy! :-) Congratulations to Victoria!!

     Truth be told...she wasn't hubby and my pick. We really wanted Li Na to win...Not because we didn't think Victoria Azarenka was talented...because she clearly is! But because we like the talent and personality of Li Na.

     Even through a twisted ankle, and a whack on the head, Li Na was still fighting and smiling. She was even smiling during the doctor's examination of her on the court after she whacked her head! The doctor had her following his finger with her eyes and she just started laughing and smiling. :-) How can you not like that?...especially considering how much stress a situation like that can cause!

       Anyway!..."Maybe next time Li!!! :-) You're so talented that we know you'll be back!!"

     In other news...we still have lights and power. YAY!!! ^_^ Clearly we do...because I'm here talking to you and not suffocated behind my C-Pap machine!! LOL...All jokes aside though, I feel sorry for the people in the area that have lost power...some of them for days!..and with us having such cold temperatures too! It was eleven degrees (Fahrenheit) this morning!! Brrrrrr!...Bundle up and put on your 'long Johns' everybody!!

     And last for today...an update on hubby's crocheted scarf! :-)

      His speed is not that great, but as you can see...his technique is still good! :-)

       But even for a slow crocheter, he's coming along nicely...don't you think?! :-) ...

     He says he's even gonna put fringe on it!! :-) ... Ambitious!!...But I'll be sure to show it to you when and if it happens! Count on it! ^_^ ... In the meantime, I'll keep encouraging his wonderful breakfast making abilities...This morning he made me bacon, eggs and grits, orange juice and green tea. YUM! I sure wish I could share it with you! ;-)

The Weather...And Gray...Have It!

     Once again the weather is the thing that gets the first subject line of my blog! We went from rain to yesterday's below freezing temperatures and frost, to this morning's rain and promises of 60 degrees!...*shaking my head*...If I didn't love my backyard so much, I might just stop looking out the window!
    I'm not gonna let it get me down though. Weather?!...Pshah!...I've been hit by bigger annoyances than that...and survived!...at least so far! O_O LOL...Anyway!...I'm gonna start focusing my energies and my Wuglyees shop on things that make me smile. Like, for instance, the scarves in my shop.
    I've been showing my lapel pins as the featured products on my front page. I just changed that though, to scarves...It is scarf season, right?! :-]

     These four are the ones I have on the front page right now, but I'll be changing them periodically. Y'all know I have enough of them to do it!!! In fact, I have tons of scarves here in the house that have never seen the light of day...online-wise I mean. I'm even considering having a sale on them..What do you think would be a good sale price to sell them for?! Any help will be greatly appreciated. In fact, the best advice may actually warrant one of YOU a little gift too! :-)

       Okay. Moving on!...to a cute item I saw in my Etsy travels...

        Each one of the coasters is printed with NASA public domain images, and they can be used with hot or cold drinks!...Can't you see the conversations starting already?! ^_^ Of course it was the colors that caught my eye initially. But then I was fascinated to find out that they were planets! So cool!!

       The last thing I wanna share today is a treasury one of my brooches got chosen for. It's entitled ** StART wiTh A CLeAn sLatE **

     It's chock full of some really cute slate gray items, including my little brooch...

      I thought the suggestion that they would make great gifts for your bridesmaids was a good one too! So if you're getting married.....huh?...huh?! ^_^

       Okay....I'm off! It's the last day of the weekend, and maybe the last day of leaf-peeping in our area... if the rain, frost and whatever else has it's say about it!!...*sigh*...So enjoy what's left, people!!!! :-) Pretty soon it'll be blog posts about snow!
