'Virtual Friday Date Night'!...We Haven't Done This In 40 Years!!

      Hubby and I have done a lot of interesting things on our 'virtual Friday Date Nights'!...We've visited France, Italy, Greece, Iceland...YES WE DID!! ^_^...Hawaii, etc. And we've visited numerous states in the United states too! :-)

      Our dates have been dress-up...for fancy dinners and the opera. And dress-down...in our pajamas...for a 'stay-cation' at home, where we ate good food, danced to good music, and slept...FOR HOURS! ^_^ (This was one of our best dates ever!!)

      But we've never done what we're about to do tonight!...And the reason we haven't done it is because we haven't had a place around here to do this, for a long...long...long time!...like 40 years!! O_O What are we doing?!...We're going to a 'Drive-In' movie!! ^_^ ...

      Have any of you ever been to an outdoor 'drive-in' movie theater?!...If not, it's probably because they don't have them in your area. They certainly don't have any in our area any more!...In fact, I thought they were a thing of the past. Sorta like spats, bustle dresses, and dinosaurs! ^_^ 

      But, surprisingly, my online research says that there are still 357 American Drive -In theaters around!!...Really?!....GREAT!! ^_^ ...We're gonna find one of those drive-in theater towns tonight!...And, of course, our 'Goobers', 'Mike N Ikes', 'Milk Duds', and hot roasted peanuts will be with us in a bag!...Who can afford movie food?! LOL

        Although we will be buying hot dogs, french fries, and popcorn at the theater!...I mean, visiting the concession stand during intermission...and getting your shoes all sticky from other people's soda poured all over the ground...is part of the experience, right?! ^_^ ...

      The last time I remember going to a drive-in with my hubby...I don't remember seeing much of the movie!...And not for the reason you may be thinking, either!! It was because it was freezing cold in the car with the window cracked low to pull the speaker into the car!...And we had to drive around to like...3 or 4...different speaker stands before we found one that worked! Then we could hardly hear the movie because the volume was too low, and it was crackling and cutting in and out! Ugh!

      Add to that that our attention kept getting diverted from the movie by people walking up to the car and asking us for change and stuff! O_O I mean, where was their cars?! LOL... There were even some people sneaking into the drive-in and sitting on the ground with their speakers put on a blanket that they carried in with them!...but the police came along and shooed them out. LOL 

      I'm SURE that none of that stuff is gonna happen tonight!!...*wink! wink!*...The weather outside is great!...And everyone is required to stay in their vehicles for the duration of the movie!! LOL There will be no walking around until intermission. At which time our doors will be locked, and we will be boogieing to Motown music in our own car!! ^_^

      I love 'virtual Fridays'...and stuff from the old days!!! ^_^ Okay, I'm off to put my goodies in a bag and figure out what movie we're gonna be viewing this evening! :-) Have a good date night yourselves...all those of you who do this too! ^_^ And for everybody else, have a good rest of the weekend! ♥

Sometimes It's Simply Black And White!

      When you wake up in the morning expecting to see light 'breaking through yon window', and instead see engulfing darkness, your brain has to go into 'simulated-positive' mode 'quick, fast, and in a hurry!' ^_^ And that's what I did...with assistance of course! :-)

      Assistance from Etsy...when I did my usual scroll through the activity feed! :-) That's always good for some positivity!...especially when I find photos like the one in my header photo! :-) What a great print!!

      And why was it such a great find?!...Because I was already watching the TCM (Turner Classics Movies) channel, looking for an old movie to keep me company as the thick clouds and rain followed the darkness...."Sun, where art thou?!" LOL

      To my great surprise, and great fortune...because now I could 'kill two birds with one stone'...O_O...Of course I wouldn't 'literally' do that! I love my little birdies too much!....Uhhhh...where was I?! O_O ...As I was saying, TCM was showcasing a big band, playing a list of wonderful old songs!!! :-)

      I was mesmerized! :-) And I was now in such a good mood that it didn't matter what the weather was doing outside!...except for an occasional 'ouchy!'...after all, even if I couldn't see it, my body still made sure to let me know it was raining! ^_^

       I only stopped taking pictures of the screen for a little while, while I did two of the things that make for a good day, or for a good date for that matter!...I was eating something good...cheesy cheddar-wurst and grits...and listening to something wonderful. ^_^

      And yes, there was a little dancing too! ^_^

      Oh, I just love black and white films...and black and white films with good music in them! ^_^

      Whew!!!...I just finished my last visit with my physical therapist. Now I'm on my own!...with all of my leg lifts, 'range-of-motion' exercises, and arm weights....Yep! On my own. :-) ... I can handle that! ^_^ I have to admit though, as soon as she left I got a strong desire for some cookies, or a large hot fudge sundae!! LOL

      Maybe I'll get me some tomorrow. It'll be 'eat-what-you-want' virtual date day!! :-) For those that don't know, my 'virtual date day' with my 'Honey' is the day we treat ourselves to something that we really want, after a week of being good...food-wise! :-) Of course, tomorrow I'll probably think of something even better to have than a hot fudge sundae. We'll see!! ^_^

      She has a lot of cute one-of-a-kind clocks in her shop. I thought that the tulips was a great idea for scenery.  She lives in Belgium, and I think I heard somewhere that Belgium has beautiful tulips! :-) I know the clock certainly has some!! :-)

      I shared this mosaic mirror because I've never seen a mirror like this before. It's unique!...I love the colors, and the asymmetrical look of the circles....They almost look like cookies! :-) ...

That's what I'd do!

      If you've ever been on your computer for a long while, and felt the heat coming off that 'baby', you know exactly what I mean!!! Those air holes make a whole lot of sense!!...Of course I use the 'poor man's lap cooler' for my laptop....a fold-able baking rack, like the ones you cool your baked cookies on!! :-)) ...

      It works perfectly too!...and for cookies also! :-) I have to admit though...it's not as cool-looking as the air desk above. And you probably wouldn't run into the awkward silence that I run into every time someone sees my 'laptop cooler'...cuz that's what I call it!! LOL...They say: "Ooooo! Where did you get that?! I need one for my computer!!"...and I have to say: "Uhhhh...from the kitchen." LOL...WHATEVER!! LOL...It works!! ^_^

       Okay, that's all I got for today. Tomorrow I'm not sure if we'll be going anywhere for our date or not. We have a guy whose suppose to come to do some painting in the bathroom If he comes, we go. But I fear it's gonna be a 'call-something-in' kinda date day. I say that because the guy was suppose to come today to do the painting...and he didn't show! Grrrr! Hubby called him about a half an hour after he was suppose to be here and he said he wouldn't be able to come because he was really busy. O_O

      Uhhhhh...wasn't 'he' the one that made the appointment for yesterday?!....Uhhhh...didn't he know he would be busy therefore?!...And uhhhh...where was our phone call to say he wasn't gonna show up?!! O_O What's with people these days anyway?!...I would never leave people waiting somewhere for me without calling!! It's so rude to assume that your time is more valuable than mine because you're busy!! O_O What am I?...chopped liver?!!!....Oh! People used to be so much better mannered 'back-in-the-day'!...SOMETIMES! LOL...Okay, rant over! ^_^ Have a good rest of the day, Everybody. See you tomorrow!...paint fumes and all if necessary! ^_^

Pancake Train of Thought!

      Hello!...Did you see the beautiful photo of the pancakes?! :-) How could you miss it, right?!...They look so good!!!...It's the perfect photo to lead a 'Pancake Sunday' post with! ^_^ But 'No!'...I'm still not eating pancakes....I just still wanna 'look at' pancakes!! ^_^ I'm hoping my "issue" with the pancakes fixes itself soon. I'm missing my buttermilk 'babies'!

      Anyway!...I'm up doing my blog right now...at 2:40 a.m....I couldn't sleep. And 'No!'...I wasn't craving pancakes!! LOL That hormonal "issue" that I was talking about is also affecting my sleep pattern again....Ugh!...Hopefully I'll be able to go back down and get a few more Zzzs before long.....We'll see!

     In case you didn't notice...the butterfly is a BUTTON! :-) How cool, right?!...You know, I think I'm gonna have to make a few things with my buttons...whether anybody buys them or not!...It's time! :-)

     I saw someone sharing a whole stash of their buttons on Facebook yesterday, and I started getting nostalgic!...I used to put buttons...interesting buttons...on EVERYTHING! But my customers didn't like my crochet flowers with buttons. So I stopped putting them on.

      I need to start doing it again though...at least a few...for ME! :-) I'll keep you posted.....You know I will!! ^_^ ... Okay. Moving on!...to pancakes!!...

It's Monday!...Let's Remember Things We Forgot!

    In case you don't recognize them, and you're wondering: "What in the world is that!" (header photo) Let me tell you! ^_^ They're roasted, salted, pistachios!!...DELICIOUS roasted, salted, pistachios!...or, in other words, my 'Pancake Sunday' substitutes! :-)
     Have you ever had one of those times where you remembered that you had forgotten that there was  something you loved?! LOL I know...it sounds confusing. To explain, my brother-in-law gave my hubby a bag of these delicious pistachios this weekend, and hubby shared them with me...or, in other words, they are now MINE, MINE, MINE!!! ^_^
     I have always been a fan of roasted nuts...almonds,  pecans, walnuts, etc. And whenever we can break the bank...because they can be expensive!!...I get me some! :-) But I haven't bought roasted pistachios since....hmmmm...since....WOW!....It's been a LONG time!! O_O
    But when I bit into these delicious 'babies' yesterday!.......Ummmmmm!!! I had forgotten how good they are!!....Okay. So, they don't look so good. In fact they look like some kind of fungus might be growing inside the shell or something. ^_^ But it's not! That's just the salt on the fleshy green pistachio. Yum, Yum, YUM!
    

    I had forgotten how good pistachios are!...and when I got to crocheting this weekend...after finally getting some sleep! Ugh!...I remembered that I had forgotten how pretty silver looks when you crochet with it! :-)
 

     Yes...I'm still slowly working on my 'made-to-order' crochet wedding set for the Wuglyees Etsy shop. At the moment I'm focused on wedding brooches for the bride and her bridesmaids. But I'm also gonna be making some boutonnieres and lapel pins for grooms and their groomsmen.
        Right now I'm trying to make different designs using the same colors. For now, it's my Turquoise, white, and silver phase. :-)) So, let me ask you, if you were a bride, would you want a crochet flower brooch to pin to your bridal shrug that has white on the outer layer?...
 

     ...or a brooch pin with silver on the outer layer?!...
 

     And think about the fact that this silver lame' really sparkles when the light hits it!!...
 

     I can't wait to get to the men's boutonnieres and show you them with the turquoise on the outside! ^_^ Okay...so I'm kinda zoned in on crochet right now. Please forgive. :-)) Although, if any of you have been watching the news over the weekend, you know 'why' I'm focused on crochet!! :-( The world seems to be going crazy, doesn't it?!
      I'm saying prayers for all of my friends in Kenya...and in Colorado...and in Holyoke...and....and.....! *sigh* We need the new system of things soon, don't we?! (If you don't know what that means, you can check out the website jw.org)

    So, let's remember some good things today...and do some good things...and maybe even listen to some good things! ^_^ That's what I'm off to do right now...and crochet, of course. :-)) Have a good day, Everybody!

Food.......Football.......Or A Loooooooooong Nap?!!

       *Yawn*........*smack, smack, smack*.........I think it's gonna be one of 'those' days! Not for anything bad though. I feel pretty good this morning. I slept really well, and nothing pressing...except crocheting...

         ...which is 'all good!', and not really pressing at all...is on the schedule for the day!

      I 'do' wish I could get a nice hot cup of coffee from the local coffee shop, and maybe a honey-dipped donut! But I won't be able to do that today. People here are celebrating a holiday and a whole lot of places aren't open until later this evening.

    My hubby and I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but we do have food on the brain this morning. How could we not, with food commercials on all day long for the last week or more?! Seriously!! I haven't had a turkey in.......'forever!'...but that's all I'm craving today! ^_^ I know it's because of my childhood memories though. My family celebrated when I was a kid.

      Even back then I didn't know what Thanksgiving was about. I just looked forward to the FOOD!!! :-) Turkey and my mother's homemade cornbread stuffing, sweet potato pie and peach cobbler. Not to mention the canned cranberry sauce! LOL I LOVED it!!

       In the years after becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses I never missed celebrating the holiday itself, but thanks to all of the media coverage, I was always aware of it! I always knew that turkey would be on sale around this time, and so would all of the food items to make the 'fixins' out of....So, again, the food was a big focus around this time of year!...A baked turkey leg, with some cornbread stuffing would be good for breakfast right about now...since I can't have my coffee and donut I mean! ^_^ But that's not what I'm having. :-) It's grits and bacon for me....with a green tea chaser!

     Hubby and I are gonna do some studying together, look at some old movies, eat food all day...especially baked ham......something else that was on sale. The BIG baked ham too!...We've had ham two days in a row already.....O_O....And I see ham soup, open-faced ham sandwiches, ham and egg omelets and maybe ham kabobs before we're through with it!! LOL

       Something else that we're definitely gonna do is watch football!! :-) ...

       I haven't watched a full football game all season I don't think! But my 'Dallas Cowboys' are playing today, everything else is closed, and nothing is pressing on my schedule....except my meeting this evening and some crocheting...

         ... :-) neither of which I consider pressing at all. They're both just enjoyable! :-) ...So, 'Dallas Cowboys'...and maybe a bowl of popcorn....HERE I COME!!! ^_^

       So, no! It won't be a big turkey dinner with cornbread stuffing and gravy, macaroni and cheese, green bean casserole,  sweet potato pie, and eggnog for me....today. It's gonna be this breakfast that I just got served in bed....

         .....a cup of green tea, a little chocolate...
