I Didn't Even Know What To Call It!!!

      It's another one of  those 'A rose by any other name smells as sweet' type of things. ^_^ And yes, I'm talking about the 'thing' in the header photo! ^_^ My girlfriend thought the last of her white and maroon 'packing peanuts' yarn...from the bag of yucky yarn I've been talking about for a few days now!...might make a cute.....uhhh....shoulder thingee! ^_^ You know the thing you can wear over your shoulders to cut the chill on a cold day, or to match your cute dress that has a neckline that's too low! :-) (You know what I mean, ladies!!)
 

     I wasn't sure if this yarn could ever make a really cute...ANYTHING!! LOL But I was wrong...I'm happy to admit! :-) It came out really, really cute!! I wish I had a model to put it on, so that I could take a picture of it being worn!
 

     It's still really thick, and really hard to crochet with, but...thankfully!...I don't have any more of it!!!!! ...***doing the happy dance about that too!! ^_^ ***
 

     I do still have some of the blue, and some thinner white yarn, to work on. I'm gonna be making a smaller hat for one of my girlfriend's daughters. Then......DONE with the 'ugly'!! ^_^ And as happy as I am to be finishing this bag of 'ugly' yarn, I'm getting a very satisfied feeling from the fact that it's not yarn that's being wasted, or put in a bag in the back of a closet somewhere! It has become two crochet hats, a monster brooch, a scarf, and a capelet. YES!!! Capelet!! That's what it's called!! ^_^
       You know how I found out that it was called a 'capelet'?!...I went onto Etsy's site to try to see if I could find others to share with you. :-) I searched 'crochet shoulder shawls' and saw some beautiful 'thingees'.....which they were calling capelets!! ^_^ Then I searched capelets and found a lot more of them that looked sorta like mine!! ^_^ Wanna see some of the work of these talented Etsians?!...Here you go!...

     Nothing to report today. I've been 'chillin'! ^_^ No snow....No busy schedule...No pressure. :-] Just reading...watching tennis...napping....eating....watching the snow in the backyard...and crocheting. Lots of crocheting!!!...Shhhhhh!...One football slipper is almost done. On to the next one!! ^_^ Hopefully there will be some pretty sunsets, some birds flying by, or SOMETHING to report tomorrow! LOL In the meantime, have a good rest of the day! ♥

Tea..........Anyone?!!

      I saw this beautifully creative teapot...Yeah, the one in the the header photo... :-) ...and I thought to myself:..."Yep! I could go for some tea right about now!" ^_^ 

      Truth is, with the rain still continuing today, I'm thinking that I could go for tea...soup...banana bread...some slow cooked collard greens...a baked turkey leg or two...and hmmmm...I don't know...maybe a peach cobbler! ^_^

      Clearly, the rain and dark clouds are doing something bad to my brain! LOL I've been achy...AND HUNGRY!...ever since my eyes opened this morning!!...And No! That's not a good thing!! O_O The only good thing about it is that we don't have most of that stuff in the house! ^_^ ...And along those lines, thankfully we also don't have any salt and vinegar potato chips, Fritos, french fries, nachos, or Almond Joys either! :-))) ...My 'back up' choices. LOL

      Tea it is!! ^_^ Tea...and hummingbird watch! :-) ...

      

      Unfortunately we haven't seen any since the feeder actually went up!! O_O I hope the 'fly by' the other day wasn't to check and see if our backyard was gonna be a 'fast food' stop...and now we're off the flight plan!! O_O
     

      We did get a visitor to the feeder though...A very short-beaked and disappointed blue bird...(I'm not exactly sure what kind of bird it really was. But it 'was' blue! ^_^) LOL It was the cutest...and saddest...thing to watch him going around and around the feeder, trying his best to find a way to get something...anything!...out of there!! LOL

      I sympathize, little blue bird!...I felt the same way about the fridge this morning!!!...*sigh*..."Want some green tea with lemon?!" :-) That's all I got!^_^ Have a good rest of the day, Y'all! ♥

      Hello Y'all!...I'd love to tell you that I'm all peppy and ready to start the new week...but the reality is...I didn't sleep well, and I woke up with a headache, and 'wah wah wahhhhhh'!! ^_^ You can see where this post is going, right?!!...It's gonna be a blog post full of this and that, and whichama whatsit, and me trying to find something to smile about through the 'whiney' pain... In other words...it's Monday...*sigh*

      What do you talk about on a Monday when you wanna just be in bed, with the covers pulled over your head, and your back being rubbed?!...You talk about something pretty...like the pretty ruffle scarf in the header photo...And then you talk about something that somebody else, with a reason to smile, can smile about!...

Want To Share Some Oatmeal?!

       As you can no doubt tell already, not much is going on in my house today! ^_^ And while that might be a bad thing for some people, for me it's a good thing! The quieter and less chaotic the better!...But it doesn't make for interesting blog posts.

      All I have for you is my 'stream of consciousness' talking, and some oatmeal from breakfast. Want some?! :-) ...

       Oatmeal doesn't photograph well...It smells good!...with the peaches and cinnamon in it...but it doesn't look good!...

      And since I haven't perfected the 'Smell-O-Puter' or 'Taste-O-Puter' yet, this is the best I can do...Sorry.

       I 'can' tell you that I slept through the night last night. YAY!...but I'm not feeling any more rested than before I went to bed unfortunately! Booooooo!...But apparently my brain 'was' getting some rest, because I woke up this morning with ideas floating in my head about color combinations and shapes and whatnot for my lapel pins!

     Then I realized that it's been a while since I checked out the other shops on Etsy that are selling lapel pins!....So I thought I'd check them out, for inspiration...Let's just say: WOW!...

        There seem to be more and more shops doing lapel pins! And lapel pins of all kinds too!...I love the little felt one above. It 'looks' sorta like the ones I make, but mine are crocheted...

      It's nice to see a market out there thriving for all of us! :-) ... As a matter of fact....WOW!...I just noticed that I just sold several lapel pins while I was talking to you!!! :-) ...Okay....I gotta go and check that out NOW!!! ^_^

      By the way, the Quaker oatmeal collection, from my header photo, includes the jar and two bowls!...

Romance, Orange, white, and Ping!

     This cute owl couple kinda looks like me and hubby here at the 'treehouse' last night...^_^ Doing nothing special except sitting and looking at each other! Thankfully there was no throwing up, high fevers, coughs or nothing!....Well, except a few aches and pains here and there. He's feeling much better today!

       So, I thought I'd just share a few romantic items I found on Etsy...Hey! If I can't 'go' on a date, I can sure look at romantic 'date'-like things!... :-)

        Okay....I got the romantic bug outta me now! :-) Moving on........!

       I didn't just sit around yesterday twiddling my thumbs, watching for signs of stomach distress though. I also finished my white scarf!!

       I can hardly believe that this is an acrylic yarn! It's so soft!

        I think it would look really nice wrapped around a bride for a winter wedding, don't you?!...Okay, so maybe I 'don't' have all of the romantic bug out of me yet! :-)) Maybe finding out yesterday that one of our friends may be dating is what's making me all 'goo-goo eyed'. ^_^

     I don't know any details...yet! But I'll find out!...Anyway! One more thing to share and then I'm out!...A new treasury...Orange in Autumn.

We're Between 'Pings' Right Now

      I don't know if I've mentioned it to you, but hubby has been on vacation from work for a little while now.  We didn't have anything particular planned to do, or anywhere particular planned to go. Nothing gave us that 'Ping!' that says: "Ooooo! You should....!"...So, we've just been taking it easy, enjoying the time together.

      Frankly, we've been so NOT 'Pinged' to do anything, that we almost forgot about Friday 'Date Night' this week!! O_0 I mean...why do you need a 'Date Night' when the whole week has been one big date?!! ^_^

     Part of this week hubby has spent trying to salvage whatever plants the storm left in his garden. And guess what? He's got 3 sunflowers...at least...that are hanging on and fighting for dear life!!! :-) And they're starting to bloom too!!...He snuck out REALLY early in the morning to get these photos of them. {I think he thought they might try to get away if he waited until the sun rose! LOL}

        The vacation might have been worth it just to have him with a smile back on his face!...Be thankful I didn't show you that sad dejected puss after the storm the other day!! It wasn't pretty! ^_^

      There also was a little Library visit this week...

In fact my friend made us a delicious vegetable salad yesterday, straight from her garden!! :-) It was so good!!...Hmmmm...will tomatoes and cucumbers, lettuce and other eatable things, start showing up in hubby's garden next year?!...To Be Continued!!        So, this Friday 'Date Night' we're giving the luggage a break....

        I don't suspect that's gonna happen this week though...I'm between 'Pings' on a few things...Hubby found these......I don't even know what to call them!....the other day when he was reorganizing my Office/Storage room...

        There was a whole bag of them!!...I vaguely remember my friend giving them to me last year some time. I think she had gotten them from someone who had bought them to do projects out of, but she never got around to them. 

            They're very pretty! And somebody went to a lot of trouble making them...My friend thought I'd be able to maybe crochet some backs for them, or something, and make some pretty brooches out of them!....But I never got 'Pinged!' to do it.

          ...In fact, I forgot completely that I had them!! O_0 So 'Come On Inspiration!! PING Me!!!!' ^_^

       While I'm waiting for that to happen, hubby and I will be in the backyard, looking at the stars. :-)
