Monday Blankets...And Bed?!

      I know you're asking yourself: "Wug, why are you showing us your bed?!" ^_^ Well actually, it's not really 'my' bed! :-) It's the blanket I've been making for my little friend! :-)
 

      The truth is that I started this blanket of granny squares as another one of my 'Ugly Wuglyees'...just to use up some yarn that I wasn't very fond of! But my friend came over one day, with her son, and her son saw the blanket and fell in love with it! ^_^ He said: "Can I have it when you're done?"
      I said: "Honey, if you want it when it's done...with all of these wild colors on it...it's yours!" ^_^ And ever since then he asks about how much longer it's gonna be before he can take it home! LOL...I love to have my 'Ugly Wuglyees' loved like that!!! :-)
 

      I'm sharing it with you today because I only have two more squares, and a border row or two, to do on it and it'll be done!...And my little friend is here today to take it HOME!!! ^_^ ... *sigh*...Whatever will I work on tomorrow?!! ^_^ Somehow I think I'll think of something! ♥ Have a good day, Everybody!...Say Bye, Bye to my latest 'Ugly Wuglyee'!!! :-)

Blankets Of Love

I make blankets, in my own time;
putting love in every stitch;
I let no one rush the process;
I'm not concerned with getting rich.

Crocheting brings about a calm
that nothing else quite seems to do;
I get such joy from choosing patterns,
and from choosing colors, too.

The more intricate-the better;
that gives me much more time to think,
'cause I can slow down, and can read it,
keeping brain cells in the pink.

Just the steady, jutting motion
of my needle's in and out
makes me remember who its for,
and what the pattern's all about.

I made a blanket for my sister,
with kittens crocheted all around;
and another, for a friend,
with her name written up and down.

I made a special one, one year,
(made lovingly-to give away)
It marked the 20 years of love
that we remembered on that day.

We threw a party for our friends;
We had good food, and dancing too;
and on the blanket, there was written:
'Roses are red, violets are blue'.

That was a special blanket;
but special is always what I say
'cause I put the time into them
and they don't even dare to fray.

They are blankets made with love
that I'm proud of-from 'chain one';
To watch the faces of receivers
is, without doubt, half the fun.

So-if I ever make a blanket
for your anniversary,
or your wedding, or engagement,
here's the thought you'll have from me:

That 'I love you very much,
and making it was fun to do;'
and that 'with every single stitch
my every thought had been of you!'

      Besides my normal Monday fare, there wasn't anything extraordinary about today. But that was just fine, because some Mondays just need to be Mondays! Uneventful...quiet...spaghetti-filled...Mondays! ^_^

      So, since it was uneventful, I decided to make my own event!...with a few cuties from Etsy! :-) ...

My Favorite People

My favorite people listen well,
and talk almost as good.
They like to eat good food,
and hang out in my neighborhood.

They like a chuckle now and then,
and dance when music's played.
And give nice complements...
and no! they haven't all been paid!

Some 'favorite people' are, I'm sure,
still ones I haven't met.
But until then, my favorites are
ones owed a 'loving' debt.

They've loved me through some heartache,
and the hardest, roughest time.
They're my favorites for a reason,
and deserve this 'Debbie' rhyme.

Things I'm Thankful For On This Monday!

      Hello, Y'all! :-) I have to say 'Hello' because it feels like it's been a really long time since I blogged...In fact, it's only been a day, but still! ^_^ The reason is because I wasn't feeling well. Allergies and stuff...of course! Grrrr! But it's all water under the bridge now! It's Monday, and I'm ready to blog! ^_^

      I have some really cute things to blog about too! Some Etsy finds that I think you will like as much as I do!...starting with that cute tablecloth in the header photo!...And I have some things I'm thankful for to tell you about too. Maybe I can share the Etsy finds and talk about my thankfulness at the same time! :-) 

      For instance, I'm thankful for my quiet house today, where I can look out the window and relax my mind between moments of madness from trying to finish writing my talk (5 minute discourse) for the meeting at the Kingdom Hall this week! O_O ...

      ...Beautiful jewelry rings, and rings on the telephone from good friends who keep me encouraged and up-built. :-) ♥ I have to admit though that I'm not thankful for 'all' rings of the phone! There's been a lot of random calls lately. YUCK!!...Sometimes I wish that there was some way to only be able to receive phone calls from people on your personally approved  'okay' list! Oh, how much simpler life would be!! :-)

      Of course this would only work as long as there's not some inheritance due you from your long lost uncle who's had the attorneys trying to find you for two years with no success! LOL...Anyway!...Ring on, phone. Ring On!! ^_^ I'm thankful for you!

      I'm also thankful for my bed!...as any cute doggie would be for this one!...

      I've been so 'sneezy' and 'hacky' and tired and achy this past weekend. Ugh! It was sleep...or cough, wheeze, and blow your nose!...I chose sleep! :-] And I was thankful for my bed to be able to sleep in!! :-)

      I was also thankful for sports this weekend, for the times I was awake! The NBA basketball playoffs are in play right now, and WOW!!!! The two games that have been played so far were nail-biters up to the end!! :-)

      There's been golf, and hockey, which...okay!...I'm not gonna kid with you...I didn't watch...AT ALL!! LOL I'm not a big fan of men on ice skates or men in plaid pants walking through grassy meadows with a stick and a tiny ball that they're whacking at!! LOL I am a fan of women and men in shorts carrying tennis rackets and hitting fuzzy balls as hard as they can though! ^_^ Tennis, I love you!!...Congratulations to Maria Sharapova...and my 'baby boy', Rafael Nadal!!...

      The French Open wouldn't have been the same without you this year!! ♥ I'm thankful for you!!

      I'm also thankful for music, which I played a fair bit of this weekend. It relaxed me...between sports games. ^_^  ... And I was thankful!

      I didn't do it this weekend, but I have been refashioning some of my crochet flowers into other things recently...keychains, brooches, etc. I even found a full container of scarves that I had forgotten I made! O_O Now, if only I can figure out a way to get them sold!...Uhhhh...I'd be thankful for a good suggestion. I'd even be willing...and thankful...to trade a handmade scarf for it!! Hint, Hint! LOL

      I'm almost done, Y'all. Hang in there! ^_^ ...I'm also thankful for my 'virtual date nights'. Even when I'm not feeling well, it's nice to 'go somewhere' sunny and warm, eat good food, and listen to good music! ^_^ This past weekend's trip was on a train! :-) ...

I am thankful I can breathe

OOPS!!...What Happened To Sunday?! O_O

      It's Monday!!...and no one is more surprised than me!! Why?!...because I just realized that I totally forgot to do a blog post yesterday!! O_O I mean, I missed Sunday all together!!! ^_^ The truth is, I didn't miss it. I just didn't post a blog on it! Actually I thought I had already did it in the morning...but I hadn't! OOPS!! O_O

      What can I say...I had 'other fish to fry'!...as they say in the south. :-)) Hubby and I had an extended 'virtual date' this weekend...and there  was a meeting yesterday...and tennis was on...and I was doing a whole lot of crocheting!! ^_^ All good excuses, right?! ^_^ ... By the way, congratulations to tennis champions Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic!! :-) Maybe next time, 'Baby Boy' (Rafa Nadal)...at the French Open next week maybe! ^_^

      Okay...let me share with you some of my latest finished crochet projects, starting with the baby blanket in the header photo! :-) {Don't mind 'Baby Wuglyee' sitting next to the blanket. He's just been 'hanging out' around here, so I decided to let him sneak his way into a couple of photos...so you'd know that he's still alive and kicking!...sorta. LOL}

        The baby blue shell and ruffle blanket is so soft!! :-] I think it would be great as a wrap or as a decoration in a baby's room...You know, to throw across a chair, or over the end of a crib mattress...

      I'm being overly dramatic about my little beauty, I'm sure. But it was sooooooo muuuuuuch woooooork that I don't even wanna think about anybody just throwing it, all rolled up, into a drawer!!!! O_O Or letting the kids, or the dog, play with it on the floor. YIKES!!! LOL

      I also took the time and re-fashioned a few brooches too. They didn't have brooch pins on the back, so I put some on them! :-) ...

 

      Now, they'll wear very nicely!... :-)...sorta like a woman in a comfortable pair of flat shoes and a pair of jeans! ^_^

      Now I can officially say: "Hello Monday!" ^_^ And "Goodbye, Y'all! Have a good week!!" ^_^

My Brain, My Brain

My brain, my brain just does
what it wants and when it wants!
Some days, all of the positives
is what it flips and flaunts.

It triggers really fast,
and all my brain cells start to meet.
It stores all kinds of things,
and it just runs long, without feet!

It fires happiness,
is organized, remembers well.
But then that "Bing!" will come
as if someone just hit a bell.

It slows and starts to ponder.
And what it ponders isn't good!
Those days it might as well
be just a solid block of wood.

Can't remember what to do,
or worse, what it already did;
Thoughts are scattered everywhere
and all my memories are hid.

Yes, my brain, my brain just does
what it wants and how it wants!
My job is staying with it,
and responding when it taunts.

Really Sick!

      Sorry, Y'all...I've been REALLY sick since Saturday night. A high fever and the whole nine yards! You know it must be bad when I didn't even open my computer and say something yesterday!! :-( Hopefully it'll get better by tomorrow...Until then.

      Hello Y'all!...I'd love to tell you that I'm all peppy and ready to start the new week...but the reality is...I didn't sleep well, and I woke up with a headache, and 'wah wah wahhhhhh'!! ^_^ You can see where this post is going, right?!!...It's gonna be a blog post full of this and that, and whichama whatsit, and me trying to find something to smile about through the 'whiney' pain... In other words...it's Monday...*sigh*

      What do you talk about on a Monday when you wanna just be in bed, with the covers pulled over your head, and your back being rubbed?!...You talk about something pretty...like the pretty ruffle scarf in the header photo...And then you talk about something that somebody else, with a reason to smile, can smile about!...

      Other than that...and a suet feeder full of woodpeckers, black-capped chickadees, and cardinals...I got nothing! O_O Well...nothing besides 'want to'. I gotta lot of 'want to'! But 'want to' and a dollar bill worth of dreams will get me....uhhhhhh...nothing! ^_^

      Tell me again...why did I even get up this morning?! O_O Eh!....I think I'm just gonna go back to bed!!...Have a good day, everybody. :-]

Do you find that you have lulls?
Times when life just has no 'Pings!'
Times when all that you've been planning
has been done! ... and nothing 'sings!'

You don't know what you should do.
Taking naps seem so sublime!
Knowing, when you look around,
that No! You haven't wasted time!

Lots of things have all been done.
But many things that you could do.
But nothing 'Pings': "Let's do this next!!"
The lull just gets the best of you.

Right now I'll try to ride the wave.
No expectation. Just relax.
Keep flipping books for inspiration.
Enjoying colors, brights and blacks.

Soon I know I'll be off again,
deeply engrossed in some new thing.
I'll get such satisfaction from it.

    I'll say it again!...I LOVE my customers!!! :-) ... And I need MORE customers!!! LOL Come on, it's Cyber Monday!!! ^_^ I have lapel flower pins with foldable metal pins on back in my Wuglyees Etsy shop...
