How Are Sisters Suppose To Act Anyway?!!

     Do you have sisters?!...If so, how do you get along with them?...The reason I'm asking is because I was impressed by the display of sister-love between Serena and Venus Williams last night (Tuesday night) after their tennis match. ♥ 

     They really went at each other on the court!! I mean, extremely powerful serves, forehands, backhands, slices and lobs were flying!! ^_^ Serena won the first set. Venus won the second set. And the third set was ultimately won by the better player...Serena. {Sorry. I forgot to say: SPOILER ALERT! ^_^}

     But as great as the tennis was to watch between them, the display of their obvious love for one another, which was shown as they met at the net after the match was over, was even better! Especially since the biggest smile and hug came from the one who lost!! (Venus) ^_^ She squeezed and hugged her little sister and mouthed the words: 'I'm so proud of you!'

     Is this the way sisters, who have been lifetime competitors and each other's best friends, suppose to act?!...The truth is, who knows!! They're a rare breed, siblings in professional competition with each other. {The only other siblings I can think of, with the same level of success, are the football quarterbacks, Payton and Eli Manning.} 

     I would like to think that this 'is' the way sisters are suppose to act!! :-) Love for your sister shouldn't be altered by your profession or money. Love should just be LOVE, right?!! ♥ ... Unfortunately, I'm embarrassed to say that the one time I had to play against my younger sister {we played basketball for rival High School teams} was not all about love!... ***holding my head down low*** I was the older sister and I just wanted to beat her!!!! And I did!! ^_^ I've grown up a lot since then...thankfully!!! :-)

     I don't even wanna think about how difficult the situation would've been if me and my sister had news press in our faces with prying questions and microphones!! O_O ***shaking my whole body*** Nah! Let's not think about that!!! LOL Let's just share a song for the girls!! ^_^

         Moving on!! ^_^ ... I wanna show you my latest projects!!...starting with a mint green pair of mittens!...

    

     Actually, I didn't start this project with the intention of making a pair of mint green mittens! All I wanted to do was work a mitten pattern up to a certain point, so that I could check out whether it worked well for my girlfriend whose trying to make a pair of mittens for her son. (Her gauge kept coming out too big and she wanted to know if it was possible to work the pattern with less stitches...As it turns out, the answer for this pattern is NO! Not with the yarn and hook she's using anyway.)

     As you can see in the above photo, it does work up into a really cute mitten though, when you follow the pattern exactly! ^_^ And now that I've made one really cute mitten...I might as well make the other one, right?! ^_^ So...I will!

       In other news, the last project...or at least I 'think' it's the last!...the striped hat, is all done! :-)
  

     If I have enough yarn left I'm gonna make a flower or two to go with it later today...but that's it! :-) Then it'll be onward and upward to the next sister act, tennis match, or crochet project of love!! ^_^ You're welcome to come along if you like!! ♥

      It's been a while since I mentioned it, but I have a lot of sisters! So many, in fact, that when I mention to one of my friends that I talked to my sister, they always start listing them..."You mean (blank)? No.....Oh, then you mean (blank)?...No! O_O Well, was it (blank)? ^_^ Inevitably I have to stop them before they go through the names of every one of the sisters in my family, and just tell them the name of the sister I'm talking about!! LOL

      I'm not gonna be naming names here on the blog! I'll just make a general statement....I love my sisters! ♥ :-) That doesn't mean that I always like them! Or that I like everything they do!...And I'm sure they would probably say the same about me! ^_^ But when push comes to shove...and that happened a LOT in our youth!...we always somehow have each other's backs! ♥

      I got a call from one of my sisters yesterday. It had been a while since we actually talked, even though I follow her on Facebook and know what she and her family are up to! I won't tell you what the conversation was about. I'll just tell you that it's so strange for me sometimes, remembering that she's not a kid anymore!!

      I used to be the 'Big Sister', holder of all sister wisdom, her older 'go-to' girl. And now we're both grown. She has children. And I struggle with being the older sister who wants to tell her what's best for her.....and minding my own grown-folk business!! LOL...because I KNOW that's what I have to do!! ^_^

      If I told her what to do and it didn't work out well....OOPS! I'd be responsible!! O_O And I can't be responsible for the decisions of other grown folk!! :-)) I'm barely responsible for mine these days!! LOL...Anyway!...Do any of you struggle with your sister relationships now that you're an adult?!

      Imagine how much of a struggle it is to have LOTS of grown sisters...and brothers!...and other relatives too!!!!...*sigh*...Sometimes it's just like a big 'Etch-A-Sketch' in my head. :-)) I just wanna shake the sand real hard and try to make a different picture!! LOL It's a good thing I love all of them...no matter what!! ^_^

      In other news!... :-) ...one of my customers let me share her photos of my slippers on her 'actual' feet!! ^_^ ...

      My photo taking doesn't ever get to the level of being able to be shown on 'actual' feet!! LOL So I'm thankful to her for letting me share them! ♥

      The photos below, of slipper soles NOT on feet, is as close to fairly good slipper shots that I can get! ^_^
 

      It's too bad I can't send all of my slippers to her house and let her take the photos for me!! ^_^

Sisters And Backyards!

      In the photo above is the look of my backyard before the new 'improvements' over the last couple of days. Actually this is a photo from last year, I think!...If you'll notice, the flowers in the little garden were in full bloom. As was the tree where my birds...hummingbirds, robins, cardinals, blue jays, etc...hung out.
      The main difference to the backyard right now is the tree. It no longer exists...*sigh*...It seemed like a good idea at the moment, to cut it down I mean. But now that I'm looking out into the backyard, without any view-blocker, I'm not so sure.
      I'm feeling nostalgic already for the white blossoms that would appear on the tree for a short period of time every Spring, and for the birdie noise-makers waaaay too early in the morning!...Not to mention the wind whipping the limbs around during storms, and the edging of 'the white stuff' on the bare limbs in the winter...

      But on a good note, after yesterday's 'haul-away' of old foliage and branches, weeds and dead leaves, the backyard won't need hubby's attention for quite a while!...

      But the bad side of that is that there's nothing much out there to get 'anybody's' attention right now anyway! O_O ...
 

      I pulled my blinds up so that you can see what I see now when I look out the window.......NOT MUCH, right?!...
 

      It's gonna take some getting use to, for sure!!!

      But wait!...'what light through yonder window breaks?' :-)) ... Is that some color in 'them there' woods?!!!! :-) ...

      Yes!...I believe it is!! ^_^
  

      Thank You!!! :-) Something of interest 'IS' still out there!!...And the part of the garden below the window has signs of growth too!...
 

      But the poor tree......*sigh*.....is but a distant 'stumpy' memory! LOL...
 

      And now that there's no tree to cling too, I'm getting visitors clinging to my window screens! O_O ...
 

      My husband calls this one (above) a 'stink-bug'. I don't know if that's his official name, but, if so, it's certainly an appropriate name for the bug, and for the scenery!...because.....at the moment, they both stink!! LOL

      Any way!...Moving on!! ^_^ I have some good news to share! I found out yesterday that one of my sisters...{a fleshy sister....not a spiritual sister.}...has taken up the crocheting bug along with me! ^_^ She, along with a group of friends of hers, is making large blankets though. The type you put on your bed!!
      She's not doing them to sell. She just likes to give them away. Hmmm...she sounds a lot like I did back when I first starting making my 'ugly wuglyee' scarves! ^_^ I just wanted to use up the yarn I had laying around, so that it wouldn't go to waste. And make some 'love gifts' along the way. No obligations. Nobody waiting for me to make a particular thing, in a particular time period.
      Of course, my 'stash of handmade stuff' started piling up!! ^_^ Then a friend suggested that maybe I should try to sell some of it...you know...to make room for hubby's stuff to survive in our house! LOL And so it began!!...Wuglyees was born! :-) Now I can't sell it fast enough!...No, really...it's not selling fast enough!....HELP!! LOL
       The other part of the sister news is that I'm sending her the beginnings of the book I wrote about fifteen years ago...to read...and...*gulp!*...critique!! O_O What am I, CRAZY?!!!! LOL There aren't but a handful of people who I've even let touch the cover of my book!! It's like a mother's newborn to me! I mean, you know it's not the cutest thing you've ever seen in your life, but your love for it abounds beyond measure!!! :-)
      Add to this the fact that the part of the book my sister is gonna read is my deepest feelings about her herself and WOW!!!!....Yep!....CRAZY!!!!! That's me alright! LOL I hope she doesn't get upset! O_O Although my love for my sister is beyond my crazy writing, for sure!!...And I've sworn her to secrecy as far as anybody else's eyes being put on it!...*gulp!*...She can be trusted, right?!.....RIGHT?!!!! O_O ....Ha! Ha! I'll take my chances.

      Okay...I'm off to do a little crocheting, have some lunch, take a nap, and then get ready for my meeting...in that order. ^_^ What are you doing this fine bare-backyard Sunday?!! ^_^ Whatever it is, Have a good one!! ♥

      I'm sure it's no big surprise to my regular blog readers that, after spending yesterday with my baby sister, all I would wanna talk about today is my sister! ^_^ I love her!!...And I didn't realize how long it had been since we had a substantial conversation until we got to talking!

      My baby sister is a mom of three. That means I'm her sister, and her children's 'aunt-ee'. ^_^ I have to admit though, that sometimes it's so hard for me to think of her as a mom!! I have so many visions and memories in my head from when we were kids, that it's hard to think of this, now, woman as a mother taking care of children!...when I used to be her big sister, and take care of her!! :-) ...

      The fact is, we both probably need some mental help!! LOL...

      Isn't that an amazing thing about sisters?!...You can be apart for long periods of time...and then come together again, and look into the face of someone who 'KNOWS' you better than anybody on earth...good and bad...and still like you!! ^_^ 
      My baby sis and I talked like talking was gonna go out of style tomorrow! LOL And then we talked some more about when we would get together again soon and do some more talking!! ^_^ And in the midst of all of that talking, I found out things about her that I absolutely did not know!! O_O
       I was asking questions like: "Where was I when that happened?!"..."How come I didn't know that?!"..."When did that happen?!"...I felt like such a 'ninnie'!! I mean, we were growing up in the same house, weren't we?!" O_O
      Oh Well!...At least I'm glad I know now....Well, some of it anyway....Long story. A long, never to be told on the blog, story!! I am her big sister after all...keeper of sister secrets, and lover of all things sister-ish!! ^_^ I'll sing some things, but those things are about ME!! ^_^

Sisters...

My backyard is quiet most of the time, with flowers on my patio, and an occasional critter. But just like my relationship with my sisters, even the calmest place can sometimes be... hilly!
  I have a whole lot of sisters...brothers too.  And strangely enough, we didn't all grow up together at the same time! Some of us have different fathers and different mothers, and our growing up took place in different states even. But my relationship with my sisters has shaped me over the years...Me and 2 of my other sisters were the dynamic trio. The 2 of them would have taken a bullet for me if I needed them to. Thankfully we didn't have THAT kind of childhood and I never needed them to!... One of my sisters, the "Second in command" I call her, because she was the next one in line birth-wise but always seemed as though she was the oldest, has been the one I've had the most awe of,... and the most animosity with!!! You see, I was afraid of everything and she was afraid of NOTHING! Not even my mother, who at 5 foot 4 had a commanding presence...and a quick switch!! But my sister always  stood up to Ma, made all of the battle plans for the 3 of us, and...stood in the line of fire to protect us if anything ever got a little hairy!... BUT in later years she was also the one who stole my powder, perfume, and make-up every time I turned my back!!!

The youngest sister, "The baby" we called her, was the exact opposite! She always wanted to cuddle, looked up to me, and took my side when the Second in command wanted to fight about something. But she could also be a pain in the neck to get to do anything!!! She always had to be talked into it, or dragged kicking and screaming!!...Now that we're older I recognize how much I learned from them and how much I am a product of what rubbed off from them in growing up with them. THANK YOU my sisters, for my bravery no matter what problem comes along. I now know I can handle anything! And thank you for my affectionate loving spirit, which keeps me hopeful and positive minded for all of the other people that come in and out of my life.....You are the flowers in my backyard now!
