It's Not A Secret Anymore!!

     Say hello to  my 'chunky' football inspired.........candy dish!! LOL The only other thing I have to say about following the pattern to make it is.....AARGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! 

      All I wanted to do was be a thoughtful loving wife, and as a surprise for my husband, make him a pair of football slippers that he could wear on the day of the upcoming Superbowl football game! (February 1, 2015)

      But, as usual when I start trying to follow a pattern to make something that has a bunch of pieces that need to be put together in a certain kind of way.....*flash backs are coming to me of poor wobbly headed Baby Wuglyee! LOL*... my frustration level went through the roof!! O_O

      'Line this up with that...sew this...stuff that...tact on these......measure between this and that....etc. UGH!!! O_O By the time this stupid football slipper huge candy dish....*OH YEAH! It's definitely a candy dish now!!LOL*...was done, I'd sewn and ripped out seams about three or four times!!

     Not to mention the fact that I could only work on it when hubby was out of the house!! O_O ... "Oooooo! Won't he be surprised on game day?" I said to myself....Huh!...The one that got the surprise was 'ME!'

      He came home from work a full hour ahead of time and caught me stuffing the football!! O_O ...*sigh*...And obviously, at this point, I had to tell him the whole 'secret' ... because he recognized the football slipper right away and started hugging and kissing me in wholesome exuberant gratitude! :-)) He knew it was for him because of the size of it!.....'big man thirteen'!! LOL
      He started barraging me with a bunch of questions about whether the other one would be ready by game day, and was I sure they would fit his feet, and were they warm, etc?!...*sigh*...It almost broke both of our hearts....with him standing there wearing the one huge candy dish on his foot, and a huge multi-tooth-flashing smile....for me to tell him that there wouldn't be 'another' one!...EVER!!!!!!! LOL
      If I took the time to look at myself in the mirror right now I'm sure I'd find only a few strands of fuzzy hair left on my head, and a bunch of bald spots with huge blue veined nerve endings sticking out!! LOL...Needless to say, as much as I love my husband...and his big giant size thirteen feet!...I will not...I repeat, NOT!...be making another theretofore named 'football slipper'! ^_^ It's now a dip bowl, a candy holder, an art piece, a football display piece, or WHATEVER he wants it to be! ^_^ Surprise, Honey! It's yours!! ♥ You can do whatever you want with it!...as long as it's not...waiting for it to turn into two of them!! LOL
       

      In less stressful news, there's sun in the backyard!! ^_^ Yes, it's sun that's on top of a lot of snow...and some more snow is on the way tomorrow.....UGH!...but at least it's not a crocheted football!! LOL Some things you just need to be thankful for, and let that be that!! :-) Have a good rest of the day, Everybody!!

It's Time To Do!....Until It's Done!!

      What a beautiful day it is!! :-) I know I keep talking about the weather, but give me a break, okay! Think about what kind of winter we've had! UGH!!! It feels good to look out the window and see something besides piles of 'white stuff', hail balls, strong winds, pouring rain, and locusts!...Okay. We didn't get locusts. LOL But if the winter had lasted any longer I'm almost sure locusts were the next thing on the list!! ^_^

      Did I say 'list'?! ^_^ Well, yes I did!!...On such a beautiful day what else would I be doing besides working a 'too long' To-Do' list?!! O_O

       ... I mean, the backyard lawn is all green and lush. The robins are hopping around all over the yard...and so is a huge bunny rabbit!! :-] I'm not kidding!! I don't know where he came from!! :-)

      Kids are running through the backyard, playing 'Tag'...or some game where they're trying to catch each other while dodging behind trees and laughing hysterically!! ^_^ ...

      It's good to hear some laughter around here! It's been a rough few months!! O_O 

      And over the last few weeks or so I've been dragging like crazy!!...not crocheting much...out of energy...and sleeping,...excuse me, napping! ^_^ But today I feel full of energy...sorta, kinda. {I'm sure it's gonna run out with a massive thud in about an hour or so! LOL} That's why I decided to take this Monday to start getting my 'To Do' things DONE!! :-]

      I actually wrote today's list of things down on paper so I could check them off as I got them done!...wishful thinking. :-)) So far, out of the twelve things on my list, seven of them are 'kaput!' ^_^ I tried to leave the best things for last...NOT!! LOL Of course it's the time-consuming, aggravating, HARD things to do, that are left!...Flip the bed-top memory foam mattress pad...comb hair {don't laugh!!...combing my hair is not an easy job! It's down my back, thick, and curly. The kind of hair that once you comb it out...you need to comb it out again to make sure it's combed out!! UGH!}

      Then I have to do my exercises...including all of the new ones the physical therapist wants me to do, with weights! UGH!...and start a new crochet project that's not a lapel brooch or boutonniere! :-) I'm crocheting a mint green baby blanket!...Probably not as cute as the one below :-) ...

      ...but still! :-)

      I've been looking through my crochet books to find something to sink my teeth...crochet-wise...into. I figure a baby blanket is a good way to go, especially since there's always 'somebody' having a baby! :-) ... NOT ME!!...but somebody! ^_^ I'll keep you posted on how it's going....That is, if I actually get 'to-do' it...or rather, start it, today. :-)

      

      Okay. I gotta go and face-the-elephant-in-the-room!...Otherwise known as the page full of exercises I have to do!...Deep breath, everybody!...HELP ME!! LOL I need inspiration....I know! I'll get Lilly Ann to inspire me! ^_^ ...

Compartmentalizing The Sunrise!

        Yesterday I shared my oatmeal with you. This morning I wanna share my sunrise with you! ^_^ ... and 'No!'...I don't have anything better to do!...not right now anyway! ^_^ ...

      I 'do' have things to do later...I have to finish my studying for my meeting...I have to balance my checkbook...and I have to get a lot of crocheting done! The crocheting is gonna be all lapel pins today. I sold seven of them in one order yesterday, and on a 'good' day I don't make more than six at one time! O_O I REALLY need to get into a regular groove now!...

       I have some other things to do too, but I'm not gonna get into that with you...Let's just say that I'm 'compartmentalizing'. My blog world is one world. Yes, it's real. I always talk about what's 'really' going on with me. But not EVERYTHING!!!...I suspect that that's true of all of us...because we don't want to bring each other down!

       My real world is a whole other 'sometimes not so great' place! It's full of pains that keep coming back, and official people who give you the run around, and bills that have to be paid, and stuff like that! :-] Grrrr!

        But for right now, is it any wonder that I'm just looking at, and sharing, the sunrise with you?!...I need to get myself in the right state of mind to take care of 'ALL' of these things...Real...and compartmentalized! :-)

     Thankfully, sunrises remind us that 'the sun will come out tomorrow'...no matter what! :-)

      It's like a waiting smile in the horizon. :-) ... Somebody oughta write a song about it...or a poem! :-) ... or both!

Sunflower Envy

    Any of you who saw my post a few days ago about Hurricane Earl's departure would've also seen the photographs of the sunflowers my hubby has been growing in our backyard. They are a very rich purplish color. Not yellowy, like the ones in my header picture today. These are our neighbor's sunflowers. And as you can see, unlike our puny sunflowers, these are some monstrously huge sunflowers!!

 

      It's hard to show you the scale of them, but I'm going to try. You see these flowers?...

 

     ...these are regular sized daisies, etc... These are about the same size as the pansies in this next picture I'm going to show you. { I think pansies is what they are. I'm not the flower "naming" person around here. I'm just the "looking at them and crocheting them" person around here! :-)) }

 

    Do you believe how huge these sunflowers are?!!! They make those little pansies look sad!! Although I must admit, THEY ARE GORGEOUS!! I don't know how, or what kind of fertilizer our neighbor used to grow them this big, but it appears that their whole yard is growing wonderfully....

   ...even if the weight of this burgeoning garden is making some of the sunflowers hang their head. :-) 

     I think hubby has a little bit of 'Sunflower Envy' though. All he's talking about is how he can't wait until the weekend when he's going to get some better, REAL, shots of HIS sunflowers in the backyard. *sigh* I have news for him. The photos he takes may be beautiful, but his sunflowers are not going to look like the neighbor's!! No way....No how!

     If he thinks they will, him and this sunflower will have something in common...
