I just Needed To Tell Somebody About....!

Some things catch your attention so completely that you just need to tell somebody about them! That's what this post is for...Things I just need to tell somebody about!!...and today that 'somebody'...is you! ^_^
The first thing I needed to tell somebody about was this clay architecture set in my header photo! I don't even know why I'm feeling the need to talk about it, except that the colors are so pretty...and I'm thinking about putting more pastel-type colors in my Wuglyees shop....and it reminded me of the little buildings from my home town of Georgia...and it reminded me of how I'm feeling so old these days, and more aware that I don't have a little girl to play with little pastel colored houses! :-]

I also needed to tell somebody about the visitor to my backyard yesterday. We had a light snowfall coming down, and who comes trotting through my backyard?!...

...a fox!! O_O ... And not a pretty fox, like the one on the bracelet (above). No, he looked haggard and mangy. His fur looked like it had chunks taken out, and his tail?....WOW! It literally looked like the way a poodle's tail looks after it comes from the groomer!...like number three (from left to right) on this rubber stamp below...

It was long, with no hair AT ALL on most of it, and then a puff of hair at the end!! O_O He must've gotten it caught in something...or SOMETHING!! But let me tell you...it was a strange sight to be seeing in my backyard yesterday!!

I also need to tell somebody about "Downton Abbey" this week!...WOW!!! It was so good! Well...good, in a 'good show' kinda way. But not good, in a 'look what happened!' kinda way! I'm not gonna get into too much detail just in case you haven't seen it yet, but let me just say...THAT DOCTOR MADE ME SOOOO MAD!...the visiting doctor I mean. Not the family doctor. I mean, how do you come to someone's home where you don't REALLY know the people, and just make a diagnosis like that, and then INSIST that you're right?!!!! Ugh
Needless to say, I KNEW he was gonna be wrong! I mean...the patient was delusional! She thought she was at work...but she was laying in her bed at home having labor pains!...Pregnant women have a lot of pain during labor. A LOT!!!...but they don't forget who and where they are during labor, do they? O_O ...HELLO!!!... Maybe it's just me!
I know!...You're saying: "Why are you getting so excited about a television show, Wug?" ^_^ ... Well, I think this particular situation on Downton Abbey fed into my experiences with doctors!...UGH!...Some doctors...SOME doctors!...behave as if they're the 'end all to be all' when it comes to your treatment!...I've been on the receiving end of some of those doctor's diagnoses!!...and I've also been there when some of those doctors have been offering treatment for some of their patients that I was taking care of!....UGH!
Anyway! It's, thankfully, just a tv show...because the patient on Downton Abbey didn't make it! :-( It was a total surprise twist to the story for me!....Now I can't wait to see what happens next week! ^_^ ... Yeah, I'm fickle like that!!...and I just had to tell somebody about it! LOL

Lastly, the scarf! Hubby's scarf...which he says he's gonna finish by Friday! O_O ...Okayyyyyyy!...

His stitches are still uniform...SHOCKING! :-)

  And it's getting so long!!

I'm very proud of him. :-)

...And I just had to tell somebody about it...besides him I mean. :-))

There's a couple of other things I could tell you about, but the fact is...that's what tomorrows are for!! ^_^ Have a good day, Everybody!!

The Fact is....

The fact is...I love peaches!
I can put them anywhere!
On top of pie and ice cream,
and one day...a style for hair!

The fact is...I love laughing!
But not the judging, pointing kind.
Not laughing at the other guy,
but to de-stress, relax, unwind.

The fact is...I am quirky!
No one knows this more than me.
But I'm also thoughtful, loving,
and just oozing sympathy.

The fact is...I'm a reader,
...and a writer. That's a fact!
I read my Bible faithfully,
and write to share all that.

The fact is...I love people!
But I love my time alone.
I love a giggle by myself
or giggling on the phone!

The fact is...I'm a girl.
And a woman, sister, wife.
A fact that makes me happy with
my husband, friends and life!

Garden Vicinity Fiasco....Ewwwwwww!

Any of you that read my blog on any kind of a regular basis have seen me, on numerous occasions, sharing my hubby's gardening and flower growing skills...or lack there of, in the case of the sunflowers this year. :-] But today's story of his attempts at gardening has an...*gulp!*...unexpected ending.

Maybe what I should do first is show you some of the good that came out of his garden so far...

He has flowers growing as tall as corn stalks back there!

       Peeking from around every corner...

He was planning to go over to his mom's house to cut her grass, but his garden and flowers were calling 'him-him-him-him, him-him-himmmmmm'! LOL...Where is Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy when you need them?! ^_^
So, out to the backyard he went...Ahhhhhh.....Oooooooo!...

Everything is growing so pretty! :-)

Hubby was having dreams of weeding and planting and....Ooooo! Barbecuing!!....Hmmm...do we have any charcoal for the grill?!....So into the storage shed room he went....

...and there, laid out as pretty as you please in the middle of the floor, was a HUGE mouse! He was so big that hubby wanted me to see it... O_O ...Sometimes I think this sharing thing goes a little too far! LOL...That's why I'm not gonna show him to you! ^_^ I erased the picture of that mouse faster than you can say "Jack!"
He looked so pitiful laying there. And his little eyes looked like they had little 'X'es on them, like in the cartoons. *_* ...All I kept thinking was: "I hope he was alone"...and..."I hope this was a one time event...I mean, we "are" far away from the woods to not have any other critters coming to visit, right?!"

Hubby removed the mouse with a shovel I think. He took him up to the edge of the woods out back and flung him....I know that because he told me. Not because I was watching! The picture of his dead body already had me in "EWWWWW-death con 7" mode!! LOL

The adventure didn't stop there though, because hubby was now determined to clean out the shed...just in case! He was poking and kicking everything to make sure that if anything was alive out there, it would 'high-tail-it' to the woods immediately! LOL
He poked a rolled up carpet and......bzzzzz!....O_O....bzzzzzzz!.....and then a small swarm of bees, none too happy that he was poking their new lair, came after him!! He came running into the house in a panic!...all gardening and shed cleaning had to be put on hold.
He kept peeking out the window into the backyard every few minutes to see if the bees were still flying around....more panicked than he needed to be...probably because we recently watched a documentary about the extremely aggressive and deadly traveling African bees, that are going up and down the coast, inhabiting people's sheds and attics...unbeknownst to the owners until they come upon them by accident! O_O
We don't know if they're African bees. But we know our shed is inhabited now!...And hubby's not interested in bothering them. What!...we don't "NEED" the grill! ^_^ .....And just as hubby was about to get re-settled in himself, he looked up and saw a fox trotting across our backyard....up near the woods.

Yep...you guessed it...the fox found the mouse...*gulp!*....crunch, crunch, crunch!....EWWWWWWW!...I didn't want any pictures of him eating...and I didn't wanna eat myself for a while yesterday either!!...Yeah, I know....circle of life...yadda yadda yadda!...I needed to relax myself. You know what that meant! :-)

Crochet time!...I had to make the new boutonnieres for the wedding party...{By the way, he says the wedding party will be in a follow up spread in a magazine. So my boutonnieres are gonna get some much needed promotion!!! :-)}...The magazine is doing a follow up to an engagement spread on him and his fiance'....It's beautiful too! He sent me the link!! :-) I'll share when it happens. His wedding is in another couple of months.

I also got another custom request yesterday...to make two tiny thread lapel pins. They're less than an inch in size...

When I say tiny...I mean tiny! I'm just thankful we're having good weather right now. This work with this tiny crochet hook is an ouch fest anyway, with my arthritic hands. But it would be impossible if we were having rainy weather!
I have to make the other one, close the buds, make backings for them and add buttons...I shared the photos with the customer. He is very pleased. :-) I'm so glad. There's nothing like a satisfied customer.
When I finish this order, I think I'm gonna make some more lapel pins for the shop. I'm gonna add my new lapel pin helper...I'm always trying to think of some simple way to wear these in that tiny lapel pin hole on a man's suit!...Meet my newest helper...

^_^ Why didn't I think of these before?!!!

You can just fold these down!! :-] ...Oh how I love a new use for an old thing!...Speaking of which, this 'Old Thing' has to get her some breakfast. ^_^ I think it's been enough time now, since the fox had his meal. Ugh!....Have a good day everybody! :-)

Hungry Stomach

My empty stomach's grumbling
was as noisy as could be!
So demanding in it's urging,
and it's "Hungry" symphony.

I awakened to it's music,
and the fluttering that it caused.
I tried to just ignore it,
with its twist and turning gnaws!

Like a 'stick-in-hand' conductor,
setting music to a riot,
I'll direct some food into it,
so that it will just be QUIET!

I've Seen All Kinds Of Things.........!

When you have a backyard the size of ours, you're bound to see things in it that make you smile, like butterflies...

...and all kinds of birds...like woodpeckers...

 (Woodpecker from MassAudubon)

...like sparrows, cardinals, blue jays, finches, crows, blackbirds, an occasional hawk, and, of course, robins!...

In fact, we have robins in the backyard 'ALL' the time! One time we even had robin eggs! :-) ...

You should have seen the maneuvering, and quiet stalking, hubby had to go through to get the picture (above) of those beautiful blue robin eggs! ^_^ But now that the storm took the tree that the robins were using for nesting, all we see are the robins hopping all over the yard with earthworms...another regular backyard visitor...and twigs and grass in their beaks. I think our yard is the community robin supply and grocery store! ^_^

Some other regular backyard visitors are...squirrels...

     ...frogs...

        ...and cats.

In fact, we have a 'stalking' black cat going back and forth, and through, our yard every day lately. He's always crouching and pouncing and sneaking around. I haven't seen what the prey is that he's stalking yet...and I'm not sure I want to! O_O That's because, a while back, we found this guy (below)....dead....in the backyard....*gulp!*...

I don't know if it was the cat's doing or not, but I have my suspicions! LOL

We also get a lot of dogs roaming through the backyard...usually followed by their owners, yelling for them to "STOP!" ^_^ ...Maybe they should buy the doggies some peanut butter!...

 (Framed Cooks Blog)

That just might slow them down long enough to get a handle on them! ^_^

But none of these visitors are the reason I decided to do this post today! I decided to do this post today because over the last few days we've been seeing some 'regular' visitors that are kinda strange to our backyard...in the daytime at least!  O_O
       We've been seeing a fox!...

He's just been trotting through the yard, as pretty as you please! O_O ...Imagine!...Foxes trotting through the yard in the daytime...without a bunch of dogs or men on horses, in ugly riding pants, carrying guns, chasing them!
I tried to make hubby run out there to see if he could get a picture of him, but he was too quick...Maybe he knew that the hunt was almost upon him or something....the imaginary hunt, because I didn't see any of my backyard grass flying up from the pounding of horse hooves! LOL
I'm starting to think that maybe we should be a little more worried about this than we are, because this was, after all, a fox...in the daytime! And the other day I was reading one of the blogs from someone kinda local to us, and she had just had a bear who climbed her birch tree and left claw marks!...Of course he might've been after her honey. They have a hive...But still!!

To top off my story, guess what else came meandering through the backyard a couple of days ago...in the daytime?!...

Yep! A skunk!...in the daytime!! O_O I thought skunks were nocturnal, and that if you saw them in the daytime that meant that they could be rabid!!!! O_O ... Great! Stalking foxes, black cats, dead snakes, maybe tree-climbing black bears!...and now...daytime...and maybe rabid...skunks! :-/
But ours wasn't a cute little baby skunk. How do I know?!.....Hubby actually got a picture of him! :-] ... It wasn't a great picture, but it was enough to be able to see that it was a skunk!...and that it was daytime!!

O_0 ...Uh boy...hubby's gonna have to be a lot more careful when he's taking the garbage out...If he gets clawed or ends up smelling like a skunk....I am NOT gonna be happy!!...I might giggle at him...if he's just an UNclawed and stinky man I mean....but I won't be happy!! ^_^
STOP LAUGHING!!!...What kind of things are roaming around your yard....huh?....HUH?!! LOL...Have a good weekend, Everybody!

Double Take

Yes, I looked at it again,
because I couldn't believe what I saw!
Was it meant to catch attention?
Or to make you drop your jaw?

Was it what I thought it was?
Was it real, or was it fake?
Just like life and all it's wonder,
some things need a double take.
