Family and Friends........A Reason To Smile!

          On this quiet Sunday morning, I wanna take a quick moment to breathe.......and then to talk about family and friends...And not just because of the new treasury that Laura curated either! :-) Although her new treasury  is about Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Wives, and Friends! ^_^
       It looks like a treasury full of things that would make great gifts for either your family members or your friends...My favorites were the shabby-chic-like mirror in the header photo,...and this beautiful hand-painted wine glass by LynetteSadowyStudios...

         I'm very honored that she thought one of my poems was worthy of her treasury. :-) And ironically, it's my framed poem entitled 'Reasons To Smile'!...

          As any of you who've been reading my blog lately know...hubby and I haven't had a whole lot of easy reasons to smile as of late!....We FOUND some!....Well, we made ourselves find some!...and we were given some!...given some by family and friends who know that life and how you live it is a choice after all!
         But when you have some of the things going on in your life like we have lately, you have to also freely admit that there's nothing "easy" about smiling when it comes to some things!...That's just being 'real'! ^_^ But who was the lying coward that said that life had to be easy anyway?!...SHUT UP!! LOL

      Now, what was I saying?! O_O......Oh Yeah!....on this quiet Sunday morning, hubby and I would like to send a big shout out to my sister for allowing us to borrow her vehicle. Not only did she not inquire as to when she was gonna get it back, but even when hubby had a chain reaction highway accident in it...she still was more concerned for his welfare than the vehicle!
       When hubby drove her vehicle home yesterday, she was as sick as a dog!...Another victim of the cold/flu/THING/whatever it is!! O_0 ...And STILL...she got in the car and drove him back home!...25 minutes away!! O_O...I know that I've told you all about some issues me and my sisters have had over the last year or two, but it's times like this that make me realize why I keep trying to get close to them!
       When the chips are really down, and it's either the world or us.....we all choose us! :-) ....White flags go up, loving care is given and received in the spirit to which it is intended, and after all enemies are battled and conquered..the war...so to speak...will resume! ^_^ At the moment we're all enjoying a "cease fire". LOL...It's so fun having a Love/Hate relationship with family, isn't it?!......NOT!....Right now though, it's all about the love!!...Enemies....SHUT UP!!!! ^_^
      As to my friends, "You Floor Me!" :-] However did we get fortunate enough to get friends who, while struggling through their own problems in life, have love enough to take the time and money they work so hard for, the hugs, kisses and prayers too, to share them so freely with us?!...Words cannot express what ease of mind you're giving us...daily! ^_^
      No, you're not removing all of our stress. And, unfortunately, we can't remove all of yours. But if we have to have stress in this world...which SOMEBODY has decided we do!! Ha! Ha!...it's nice to have the stress right alongside reasons to smile because of having great friends like you! ♥♥♥ We love you dearly!!!! And we look forward to the privilege in the future to bolster you up during your hard times, as you are so lovingly doing for us right now! :-)
      Okay.....what did you expect besides 'sap' when I started the post with "On this quiet Sunday morning"...?!! Ha! Ha! YOU know I'm never quiet!!! ^_^...But for those of you not needing sappy words to smile about, I leave you with this!...

Reasons To Smile

I don't really need a reason,
to let out a great big grin;
But I do from time to time,
just to exercise my chin.

Sometimes I do it just to see
what reaction I will get,
in the places where I've gone,
and the people that I've met.

Sometimes it's just for me!
To amuse some silly thought;
Or to show just how excited
I have been at what I bought.

Sometimes a smile can change my mood,
when weather forecasts make me blue;
Or when I see a baby playing!
Oh yes! Oh Yes! I smile then too!

Truth is, I really don't need a reason.
Frowns just,frankly, aren't my style.
I could sit and write about it,
But even that would make me smile.

Breathe!...*inhale*......Breathe Some More!

       Yeah! This is where hubby and I should've been yesterday for our 'Virtual Date Night'!.......Grenada, the Spice Island! But instead this is where Vicki, of the blog 2Bags Full, and her husband were! They went on a cruise, and she shared some of the photos of their trip on her blog yesterday. {Just click on the above header photo to go over and check out the rest of the photos....Well worth the click away! Trust me! ^_^}
     But Oh Noooooo! Hubby and I weren't away on some tropical island. We were here.....home.....in total mental frustration! O_0 Yeah, you guessed it...more bad news...*sigh*...Hubby took the car we were given, a little while ago, over to get it inspected, so that we could get it on the road and give my sister's vehicle back to her...{She's been so great about loaning it to us for almost a month now!}...and click, bang, boom!.....it didn't pass inspection! O_O
      Apparently the mechanic thinks there may be a leak in the brake line, because the emergency brake wouldn't hold during the inspection...*sigh*...We strongly resisted the urge that was coming over us fast to throw our hands up, get in the bed and pull the covers up until next week, or to go on a verbal tirade about: "What else?!!!!....What else is gonna happen now?!"..."Is somebody after us or something?!"....because...I mean...what would be the point of doing that, right?!
      But then.....THE VERY SAME DAY!!!!!...we got hit again.....literally!!! Aargh!!!!!...There was a chain reaction accident on the highway. The car in front of the car, that was in front of hubby, in order to not have an accident, threw on her brakes....HARD!....Then the car in front of hubby did the same thing...Then hubby did the same thing......Blam!......Blam!........Blam!....Then the car BEHIND hubby did the same thing!.....BLAM! :-(  Hubby, in my sister's vehicle, got it from the front and the back! ;'_';
       Okay, let me give you our life over the last three or so weeks in a nutshell:

1. Hubby got fired
2. We were told we would get his 4 weeks vacation pay and our annuity....neither has happened!
3. Unemployment has denied his claim...but we're appealing it.
4. His representative is suppose to be helping with the appeal in the allotted days we have to do it...but after 4 phone calls to his office this week, and no return message, we don't know where we stand, or if anything has actually been filed! :-(
5. The car didn't pass inspection.
6. Now there has been an accident in the vehicle we borrowed!!! (Thankfully my sister's vehicle was not very badly damaged...but the car that hit it from behind was!))

            Now that you're all caught up!..... ^_^ ...let me say I know how bad it sounds, but guess what?!....We're still in a positive mood!...That's how crazy people roll you know!!! LOL...But seriously...we're remembering that some of our friends are battling terminal cancer, death, natural disaster (having lost family members and complete loss of property), prolonged illnesses, financial devastation, and debilitating family strife!....In comparison we still have it pretty good!...In this respect, let me give you our life over the last three or so weeks in a nutshell:

1. Some friends gave us a car!
2. some friends brought over 10 or so bags of grocery and just left it on the front door!
3. Some other friends gave us $500.00 cash!....We were able to catch up on all of our bills except one that would have been due the next day.
4. Another friend gave us $100.00...now all of our bills are caught up! :-]
5. Our income tax refund of $1,400 is due in a couple of days.
6. My sister said not to worry about the vehicle. She was only concerned that we were okay. :-)
7. Apparently the brake line fix on the free car isn't gonna be that big of a thing.
8.We have our C.O. this week and hubby is 'Pioneering' (he volunteered some time this month to go out and talk to people about the Bible).
9. We still have each other. ♥

          Add to this the fact that I have a custom order to work on that will keep my mind busy, and some other spiritual projects to do too, and you now know why we're still keeping it positive! :-)
         Although I must admit that trying out to be a 'Spice Girl' with Vicki in Grenada would've sure helped my mood!! ^_^

            Have a good day, Everybody!....no....really! :-)

How Can You Be So Positive

"How can you be so positive
with everything so bad?
When folks are so unkind
and all those doctors make you mad?"

"It's easy!" I assure them.
'Cuz one thing makes it okay.
I wake up every morning,
and I'm breathing every day!

When I can't move a muscle
and can barely lift my head,
I think of all the folks I've known
who now are gone, yes, dead!

No matter what my problem is,
and if I stand or lay,
I'm thankful that my mind still works
and I'm breathing every day!

So how am I so positive,
When things sometimes seem bleak?
It's easy, 'cuz my breathing
keeps on going every week!

Oh yes, I have a choice!
I can be miserable and whine;
Be mean to folks around me,
Be demanding and unkind.

But who would make that choice,
when there's a better way to be?
I mean, who's breathing every day
and writing poems?...ME!

Sometimes Wise.........Sometimes Needing Wisdom!

        During my unfortunate 'mental incarceration' of sorts...(in other words...the period of time that I was sick and coughing like a fool and the only thing that was capable of moving was my locked up brain cells! ^_^)...I spent a lot of time thinking about what I was gonna do to try to make my shop more presentable.
     I finally came up with what I thought was a wise decision...stop trying to make people like your plain flower brooches! Either give them a new flair, or get them out of the shop!...I decided that as soon as I was feeling better I would deactivate the little non-sellers, make keychains out of all of them...{something all people use!}...re-photograph them, and sell them as keychains instead!
     Then I went over to the shop yesterday and there was a message from a customer telling me that she was gonna buy a few of them. She was giving me a 'heads up'. ^_^ Sure enough, a few minutes later, she bought four of my little brooches!! :-) Two of the frilly ones, and two of the thread ones! WOW!...Now what do I do?! O_O Proceed with the keychains or leave them 'as is'?!...I'm all out of wisdom on  this one! :-/
      So, what does a 'Wug' do when she's all out of creative business wisdom?...She peeps around at other creative business people for inspiration! :-] And she's never disappointed!

           How cool is this (above)?!!...It's an antique distressed printer drawer that's been reinvented to be a jewelry display! ^_^ Now that's the kind of inspiration I need!
         And what about these things...

         I love that you can turn each letter of the word 'family' and put a different set of scraps or photos on it!...

       What about this clever little invention?!...

        It's a padded book rest for your lap! :-] ...Pretty clever SewInventive!...And I love that it can have a whole lot of different uses...

      If any of you are on your laptop right now, sitting in some kind of awkward position, think how comfortable you could be....reclining in your bed...with this little book rest/laptop holder cushion rest on your lap!! :-] ...It's inspired!

      And speaking of books, look at this!...

         Is it a Russian-English book?!.....No it's not! It's a hollowed out silhouetted hand book....safe!...

         Is that clever or what?!!! ^_^

       This could be the perfect place for my 'valuable' 3-tier diamond necklace! :-) ...$65.00...store quality diamonds!! Grrrr!...I'm still mad at that gold and jewelry exchange guy for saying that 'stupidness'!!! LOL...Moving on!!

       I still don't know if I should make my keychains or not, but I'm at least using my brain a little more actively! ^_^ ...Well, this might say otherwise (below)...

         He doesn't appear to have been reinvented or practical...He's just cute!! ^_^ And I love him!....just like I love my crocheted flowers!...Sometimes it just is what it is!! ^_^

.....Wisdom!!! :-) ...Okay, I'm off to work on an order for two custom headbands...and some crocheted flowers to put on them! :-) Have a good day, Everybody!

 All The Things I Love

If I listed all the things I've loved
I could rattle on forever!
Whether by 'order of importance'
or by a poeticly quick endeavor.

Right now it's Tennis...Well, all sports,
and reading informative magazines.
And crocheting, food and music.
Well..that might be in my genes!

I've loved teaching and line dancing,
So many things in my short life.
But I've never jumped from a plane,
or wittled anything with a knife!

With every passing moon
I find some other thing that I love.
Whether grassy patterns on my lawn,
or phenomenal skies above.

Yes, if I listed all the things I loved
my words could fill all space,
It comes from curiosity,
and an Ooo-ing Awww-ing place!

It's All Kinda Foggy!

      No...Seriously!...It is...all kinda foggy I mean! ^_^ But not my head this time!...I'm talking about the backyard!...

      It looks all mysterious...sorta like a good story ought to be written while standing in the middle of it! Something like 'the case of the missing 8 days', or a poem about how 'it all went away in a fog'. ^_^ I can do that! And if you see it down below you'll know I was up to the task!...If not, you'll know that the backyard wasn't the only thing with some leftover fog still in it! LOL

       The fog is suppose to burn off later though. We're forecast to get 80 degree weather here today! :-) Not that I'm going out in it! I'm now avoiding the high pollen count around here like the plague!...in the first few days of April!! O_O ...*shaking my head*...Is this gonna be another one of those years where all we bloggers can talk about is the weather?!.....Nope!...Not around here!! ^_^
        I've got plenty to talk about! I've got a backyard full of robins,...a cough that's finally trying to lift,...and some buttons!...They're in this new treasury :-) ...

     It's entitled All Buttoned Up For Springtime. It was curated by Laura. Thanks Laura, for adding my little hot pink scrapbooking or supply flowers in there! :-)

        It's 'buttony-goodness-run-amuck!' ^_^

      Okay....so I didn't have 'THAT' much to talk about! Ha! Ha!...But I did write the poem! ^_^ I'll leave you with that for the day! Have a good one, Everybody!

It All Went Away In A Fog

I dreamed I was writing my blog,
in the middle of an old Irish bog.
There came a woof! woof!
and the pounding of hoof,
and it all went away in a fog.

The next night I was out for a jog,
and again heard that same old dog!
I took off down the street,
hid in golden high wheat,
and it all went away in a fog.

I awoke eating just like a hog,
having wine with a spicy cheese log.
Giving numerous naps,
and the dog all my scraps,
it all went away in a fog!

If You Ask Me......

         "If you ask me how I'm doing, I would say I'm doing just fine. I would lie and say that you're not on my mind. But I go out, and I sit down at a table set for two, and finally I'm forced to face the truth...no matter what I say, I'm not over you..." :-/
      If you're a music lover like me, you probably already know that those are the lyrics to Gavin DeGraw's song "Not Over You"...

       But the reason the song popped into my head first thing this morning had nothing to do with a relationship that went bad. In fact, my relationship with hubby...except for his occasional bad attempt at cooking beef...is going great! ^_^ In fact, we've got our 30th wedding anniversary coming up this summer! :-) ...We're still not sure what we're doing! O_O...Anyway!...
     But there is a relationship that I can't seem to get over...it's my relationship with this pesky cold...bug...flu...virus...thing! Just like the lyrics to Gavin's song, if you ask me how I'm doing I'd say I'm doing just fine...especially when I'm sitting somewhere minding my own business, not talking! That thing isn't even on my mind at those times!
     But if I go to try and exert myself to do something, or to answer the phone and talk to somebody, I'm forced to face the truth....I'm not over it yet! UGH!...I'm still working on it though. And hey!...the fever's gone! So I know it's heading in the right direction!
     While it's taking it's time moseying on outta here though, I've got the pretty pussy willows that my friends gave us yesterday! :-) ...

       Hubby put some of them in my cobalt blue vase, with the oriental scene on the side of it...so pretty!...and sat it in the backyard...in all of that gorgeous eighty-something weather we had yesterday!...and took a picture so I could show you! :-)
     I kinda wish he had took a close up of them too, but that's alright...Wikipedia had a close up of some...

      They just look like Spring, don't they?!.....And officially, as of yesterday, that's the season we're in now...so good! :-) ...If you ask me, I think we've been into Spring for months now here in the northeast...This has been some crazy weather!! O_O
     Now all I have to do is wait for these pesky coughing spells to stop...and to get past the sneezing and wheezing of the first blooms of Spring...and start seeing some ripened tomatoes in the grocery store or at the farmer's markets....

           (Polka Dot Tomato Pincushion by SeaPinks)

        ...and I'll officially believe it...just in time for summer, no doubt!! LOL...But if worse comes to worse, and there's some upcoming weather anomaly that postpones or delays any of this....thanks to Framed Cooks blog, I'll still have baby butterfingers! ^_^ Butterfingers that I can eat alone...

      ...or have made up into some butterfinger and chocolate truffles y'all!!! :-) Check her blog >HERE< to see what I mean, and get the recipe!

        So, like the fish in my header photo today, if you ask me...I'm doing just fine, but I'm not completely out of the weeds yet! :-)) I suspect it won't be much longer...Scratch that!...I HOPE it won't be much longer. :-/ I've heard a few people are getting hit with 2nd and 3rd rounds of this thing!..."Listen here Mr. bug, flu, or whatever you are...you better not even THINK about it!!!" Grrrr!...Maybe that'll sufficiently scare it off!.....*looking left and right* :-]
     By the way, I got the new Giveaway up finally! Click the right-hand sidebar photo of the turquoise brooch. There's new rules posted for entry this time too!...I'll be waiting! :-) Have a good rest of the day, everybody! If you ask me, it looks like it's gonna be a good one!...It's Spring!

Spring Is The Rain

Spring is the rain,
when the flowers grow again,
and new life is let remain.
After months of drench and drain,
you now see roses down the lane.

Spring is the rain,
and the budding of the grain,
and birds, out your window pane.
When the weather makes you sane,
and its no longer on your brain,
'cause there's no cold to give you pain.

Spring is the rain-
the time for traveling on the train,
for watching trees, not weather vanes,
and raking leaves-Autumn's disdain.
You lift your head, just like a crane,
and now your thought's no longer vain.
You think of seasons that were plain,
but now its blooming, down on Main,
because spring is the rain.

While I Was Sick I Was Thinking......

      I know you're all probably sick to death of me talking about how sick I am, but.....but....that's where I am people! ^_^ So I have to find creative ways of talking about what's going on with me without boring you to tears...that's if there's anybody reading about it anymore! LOL...HELLOoooooo!!!...Anybody out there?! O_O
    So, instead of telling you how raspy and sore my throat is...even though the fever appears to be finally gone for good...YAY!...and how sick to tears I am of this C-O-U-G-H!...Aargh!...I'm just gonna tell you about some of the random thoughts that have been going through my head the last few days...Through my sick head! ^_^

        *** I need to buy me some new nighties!...Somebody this sick shouldn't have to be in bed for all of these untold hours, with the constant ability to pull threads aloose on her nighties! My favorite nightie now looks like it has four sleeve holes!...*shaking my head*...Two holes for my baseball bat shaped arms...by the way, why didn't somebody tell me that my arms look exactly like Sammy Sosa's?!!...and then two extra holes on either side of my little lace flower in the front. Two holes that now have a life of their own, and could be armholes!
     And while I'm at it, why don't I buy a new sofa set for the living room and a brand new car too?!......Cuz I'm broke! That's why! LOL And there's nothing more pathetic than a sick girl playing with her hole-y nighties all day long....Well, except a broke sick girl playing with her hole-y nighties all day long...and finding it enjoyable to rattle off in her head all of the things she can't afford! ^_^

        *** My nails need doing......BAD!!....How do I know?!...That's how the holes got so big in my nighties! My ratty fingernails, with the hanging pieces from me nibbling on them during the down time....and ALL OF IT is down time people!!...is what kept catching the threads and pulling them over and over again until they became big holes! LOL

    *** Hubby's nose hairs need trimming again. Every once in a while, when he breathes out, it looks like a little spider hand is trying to wave at me!...and he might wanna cut the muff in his ear too...I wonder if that's why he keeps saying "huh?" every time I say something to him?! :-/ Maybe he really just can't hear me!

     *** We have the best friends in the world! :-] Hubby has been out of work for less than a month and already they've rallied to give us money, a car, and bags and bags of grocery!...with soup, rolls, chocolate cake and pussy willows being in the bags too! ^_^ Clearly they're concerned with more than our stomachs! They also wanna make us smile!....Mission Accomplished my friends! ^_^

      *** I'm gonna have to re-think the selling of my jewelry. How dare the guy from the gold and jewelry store offering me $65.oo....65.00!...for my 3-tier diamond necklace!!! I might've been born at night, but it wasn't last night!!!..."Only 'Store Quality' diamonds...".....What does that mean anyway?!...That I bought them in a store?!...UGH!...Yeah! Who doesn't?!!

      *** I can't wait to see what my pillow looks like now!! :-) My tiggerific friend is embroidering my poem onto it. I've been so sick the last couple of weeks that she hasn't been able to show it to me, but this week, Friday....maybe! ^_^

       *** WOW!! Gladys Knight not only can sing....She can dance!! ^_^  Through my coughing haze, I saw her dance on the premiere of "Dancing With The Stars" last night. Go Gladys! Go Gladys! :-) ...F.Y.I...this is how the shows rope you in. They put somebody on there that you love from doing something else, like 'singing-her-brains-out' Gladys Knight!, and make you wonder "can they really dance too?!"
        Next thing you know....you, a large bag of popcorn, and three hole-y nighties later...it's Sunday and you can't wait until Monday gets here so you can see Gladys dance!!!!!! ^_^ ...Or maybe they're gonna let her sing!!!! :-) ...

      ...I sure hope so!.....and I hope I don't miss it if they do! Ain't no telling where my head is gonna be! ^_^
       By the way, there's a lot of really interesting celebrities this year other than Gladys: there's Sherri Shepherd, from "The View";... Melissa Gilbert, from "Little House On The Prairie";...Jaleel White, "Erkel";...Martina Navratilova, the famous tennis player;...Jack Wagner, actor and singer;...Donald Driver, Green Bay Packers football player;...Maria Menounos, actress/journalist;...Roshon Fegan, actor/dancer;...William Levy, actor/former model;...Katherine Jenkins, classical singer;...and Gavin DeGraw, musician/singer/song-writer.

      *** What is that smell?! O_0 ... Oh. Hubby's cooking again...I'd better get my stomach ready! ^_^ Have a good day, Everybody! {Below are a couple of the limericks I shared on Mad Kane's Humor blog recently}

--- A gal who was terribly shrill,
made yodelers run for the hill.
Her voice was so loud,
she could drown out a crowd,
and make babies shut up and be still.

----- A woman who tended to brood,
had many who thought she was rude.
Seeing her expression like wood,
they just misunderstood
her deep thought and ‘don’t care’ attitude.

The Last Day Of Winter?!...Really?!...Where?!

       Hello Everybody! I feel like I've been on a vacation to a deserted island in the middle of the Indian Ocean somewhere or something, with no one that I even wanna talk to...and that being alright with me!...Now you KNOW I was sick!!! ^_^ I've been quiet...and mostly...sleep! I guess that's how sick, coughing, feverish 'chatty Cathies' roll! ^_^
     As of this morning, I'm feeling better.  Not great!...but better. At the present moment, I don't have the fever. But since I did have it last night, I'm just enjoying the break in the beads of sweat while I can get 'em! LOL...Now, hmmmmm...what do I have to tell you?!...

       I hate the taste of water!...I know you're probably saying: "Silly Wug, water doesn't have a taste!"...But when you've drank as much of it as I have the last few days, you become a kind of expert on the taste of everything...water included. And I'm here to tell you that water does indeed have a taste! And as of...NOW...I don't want to taste it again!!...except when it's mixed with something that tastes good...like green tea with honey and lemon.
      Also...did you know that you could cough so hard that you could cause your stomach muscles to seize up?! O_O Well.....you can! Mine did the other night...PAINFUL!! I couldn't get comfortable no matter how I sat or laid down!...Thankfully though, the next day, after massages and just relaxing...and not trying to talk (which is when the coughing spells start!)...it felt fine!

        And...just saying...be thankful you can't hear me, and you just have to read my words. The raspy throat has me sounding like a deep throated man! O_O ...UGH! I lost my 'escalator walk' a few years back, and now....the voice! Although, for some strange reason, my hubby's not mad at it! LOL
       Before I show you the gloves I had been working on before this whole cold...bug...flu....thing!...started, let me talk to you about our winter...or lack there of! I heard on the news this morning that this is the last full day of winter. My reaction was...winter?!....Where is winter?!...We're having temperatures in the 70s all week! And it's been mostly mild all winter here in the northeast. In fact, it's felt like a long...long...Fall! I think we just skipped right over winter! But if they say it's been winter...who am I to argue with them! ^_^
       Okay....the fingerless gloves...

          I made a red one...

       And at the same time I was working on a blue one!...

      I love this shade of blue!

      Now I just have to make the matching gloves to go with them...unless any of you know someone who might want a pair of mismatched gloves! ^_^
       Thanks for all of your well wishes for me and hubby over the last few days. I heard about them, even when I wasn't in the mood to read. Hubby's been a good little care-giver. :-) Hopefully I'm back on the road again now...

        ...still coughing my brains out, but better than I've been. For those of you who've had this at the same time as me and hubby...I hope you're feeling better too!...For the rest of you, stay away from coughing wheezing people carrying too many tissues! LOL Happy Healthy Monday, Everybody!! :-) ....Ahhhhh! I missed talking to you!

I Like To Talk

I like to talk;
I like to gab;
I like a girlfriend
free confab!

I like to chat;
I like to speak;
I find that words
are what I seek.

I like the chatter
of a crowd;
Not in a whisper,
but out loud.

But, please no talking
while you chew.
{Speaking does
have manners too!}

I like the noise
that utterance does.
The constant
conversation buzz.

Maybe I need a
word-free diet;
No! I could not
withstand the quiet!

So, I will talk;
Oh yes! I'll dabble
in a constant
lingo babble.
