Forsythia and Crochet 'Packing Peanuts'?!

     The backyard was made a bit more beautiful yesterday with the wild growth of the yellow and green forsythia flower bush, buzzing bumble bees, air dancing hummingbirds, and sunshine everywhere! :-)

     The air was kinda heavy with humidity, but I didn't notice it much...or at all!...because I didn't go out in it!! ^_^ I was comfortably behind my window panes, and in front of the air conditioner! :-) LOVE air conditioned goodness. LOVE IT!!! 

     When you're a crazy crocheting fool, like I am, air conditioning during a summer heat wave becomes a good friend...sort of like chocolate is. Well.....chocolate is a different kind of friend, but I think you get my drift! ^_^

     Speaking of crocheting.....because that appears to be all I have to talk about these days, besides backyards and hummingbirds! ^_^.....my friend left me a bag of random yarn. Some of it is just YUCKY!!! ^_^ I would not spend good money on it....or bad money for that matter!! But, for some crazy reason (that my brain is not savvy enough to explain to me!) I am determined to make something out of every since ball of this yarn!! ^_^
      Two balls of it were like colorful 'packing peanuts'. You know, the Styrofoam filler that you put in your shipping box to keep your item secure. I was almost at a loss as to what I was gonna do with it until my friend said: "Maybe you can make a scarf for my little girl with it....OR SOMETHING!!" ... Hmmmmmm! :-)
 

     Okay...so it's not gonna be the cutest little girl scarf you've ever seen!...but it's sure gonna be the softest!! It's so comfy cozy!!! :-)
 

     I actually finished the whole scarf late last night while I was watching the 'BEAT DOWN' that 'Petra Cetkovska gave Caroline Wozniacki' at the U. S. Open (Tennis, Y'all! ^_^) I put a row of crochet scallops on either end of the scarf to up the cute factor! :-) 
     I didn't have the right lighting to photograph it. Nor did I want to! (just saying! LOL) Maybe I will today though. We'll see. :-)

     Also in the bag was a large ball of this thick, thick yarn!! I made a short circular neck scarf out of it, and this MONSTER flower!! ^_^ ...
 

     It's the perfect size flower to hold one of my ceramic buttons! :-) ...
 

     How large is this flower, you ask?!....Okay, you didn't ask. I asked for you!! LOL.....Well, I took a photograph of it right next to my 16 ounce jar of peanut butter!!! LOL

      The real question is: "What am I gonna do with a MONSTER flower?!" O_O Uhhhhh....give it away!!! LOL Somebody must want it....for something! Right?! O_O

     I still have some more yarn to go, from my friend's bag. Some variegated blue, and some white 'packing peanuts' yarn. I'm working on a hat from the blue right now, and I think I'm gonna make a 'grown people' scarf from the white. Only time will tell! But, if I get inspired to, I'll photograph it so you can see. If not, you'll know I'm not that happy with it and I'm hiding it in the 'never-to-be-seen-again' bin!! ^_^ 

     So, that's all I got today...unless I come back later to show off my finished projects. :-] Oh Yeah, and It's 'virtual' Friday Date Day too. Woohoo!!!!...Let me see now, is that it?!...You know how hard it is to get a talkative girl to 'SHUT HER MOUTH' for good!! LOL Have a good day, Everybody! ♥

      What a cute basket!!! ^_^ It has all of the things I love...creatively!..all in one place! It's crocheted...it's colorful...it has buttons...it's practical...

      ... and it has a flower!! :-) I'm imagining it in blue, and pink, and green! And all I keep asking myself is....why didn't I think of that?!!! LOL

      I guess the reason I didn't think of it is because I've been preoccupied with other things...like slippers!! :-)

      These pink ones are the ones I finished today. In fact, they're already in my wuglyees shop! ^_^ Yes! I'm 'on it' today!! It must be the sunshine, snow-less backyard, and the hummingbird sighting!! ^_^ YES I DID!!! ^_^ Can you believe it?!!!
      Of course, it was only one hummingbird! And I actually sighted him while he was checking me out and wondering where the feeder was! O_O ...Oops!!...We hadn't even THOUGHT about putting up the feeder yet!!...But, "HELLO LITTLE HUMMINGBIRD, IT'S UP THERE NOW!!!!" :-) 
      Now it's back to the crochet hook...after an episode of 'Chopped' (a cooking show), and maybe a short nappy-poo!! ^_^ ... and BAM!!...that makes two blog posts in a row!! LOL Do I dare say 'I'm on a roll!'.......Naaaaah!!! We'll just play-it-by-ear!! LOL Have a good rest of the day, Y'all!! ♥

Rain Brings Flowers And...Tea?!

      Sooooooo...yesterday I was talking about the 'better weather' we're having, and today?!...RAIN!!!...like...ALL DAY!! Ugh! Such is life, right?! You say something nice, and the next thing you know...it rains all over your complement!! LOL

      Whatever!!!...we're just gonna get us a good umbrella...and move on! ^_^ ...

      Although one of hubby's clients 'did' think he was special enough to give him a large bag of different kinds of tea! :-) There were some flavors in the bag that I haven't had for years!...They were prior to my green tea phase. :-)) Too bad I don't have this box (below) to put my teas in!...

      Wait!...There 'is' something else special going on around here!..Well that already happened...this morning!...The physical therapist worked my aching muscles to a frazzle!!...O-U-C-H!!! ^_^ I tried to get some sympathy for the fact that my arthritis is all flared up...because of the rain. But she wasn't having any of it! :-)) It was true though!!!...OUCH!

      I only did the upper body exercises for today though. She gave me a break on the lower body ones....My legs and hips would not have taken it!! NOPE!...But I'll do some moderately altered ones before bed tonight....Or at least I'll try!! :-] I promise!!

      Well...that's it. Except for some flowers! :-) ...

Roses Are Red...To Blanket You With Warmth, Right???!!!

      It's no surprise to anyone that reads my blog on a regular basis that 'I LOVE FLOWERS'!...especially colorful flowers!! :-) And I also LOVE poetry! That's why I have to show you the crocheted afghan I made more than ten years ago...and tell you the story about 'why' I'm showing it to you! ^_^

      Here goes!...Hubby and I moved back to Massachusetts, from Connecticut, about fourteen years ago. And shortly after we were here, we set to work on planning a big 25th anniversary party for ourselves. ^_^ Well, not really for ourselves. It was more for our friends that have been there for us throughout our marriage.

      We hired a caterer to make a gourmet sit-down meal. We bought souvenir centerpiece gravy mugs for each table...with colorful painted roses on the sides, and with fresh flowers arranged inside. :-) We made a video to show, with music, of all of our friends and the fun times we've had together.

      We made four specific music tapes, with interchangeable levels of dance music and meaningful music. (we did this mainly so that no one had to spend a lot of time manning a DJ booth or something. ^_^) There was softer...Kenny G...music to play throughout the meal even!! :-) Our friends loved our choices. But of course they would!...we know them so well!!! ^_^

      Draped across a large black piano, inside the special place we rented for our party, was a large handmade poetry, and color inspired, afghan blanket...that I made myself just for this occasion! :-) I wanted it to be a little piece of me that someone got to take home with them. :-]

      But who would get it?! O_O ...What I did for weeks beforehand was sit down on the couch, every day, with my crochet hook and a lot of good old movies at the ready, and crocheted different color yarn roses, and then made them into key chains!...around 100 or more of them!!!...or at least I think it was that many.The details escape me at this moment. It could've been more!!...but I made one rose keychain for every single guest!! :-)

       In among all the colors...red, blue, gray, green, white, etc...was one black rose....ONE! And at the end of the night I asked who had the black rose...which my guests didn't know was the only one. ^_^ ... Side story: The person who originally had the black rose wanted another color, and had traded it with another one of my friends by the time of the announcement! Oops!!! LOL

     Needless to say, she was NOT happy!! ^_^ And she wasn't happy because the owner of the black rose also got to take this 'baby' home!!!...

      It had been draped across the piano all night, with friends asking tons of questions about it! ^_^ Long story short....Well, not short anymore! ^_^ ...My girlfriend that is moving away to Florida in a few days was the one who won it!! :-] ...

      She called me a couple of weeks ago, wanting to give it back to me now. She's moving to Florida where it's totally hot all the time, and she thought that I would get more use out of it....Between you and me, I think my blanket is becoming sorta like the 'sisterhood of the traveling pants' jeans!! LOL (If you haven't seen the movie, click this link and see the Youtube trailer for what it's about. LOL) 
      I got the message, my friend...and I LOVE You too!!! ;_; And I'm gonna miss you terribly too!!!!...Now I have to find someone else to hold onto my 'baby' for a while! :-) Look out, friends! It may be YOU!!! ^_^
      In the meantime, I'm off to finish my studying for the meeting tonight, and get some breakfast! :-) First....poetry!!!...MORE poetry I mean!!! LOL...

It's Hard To Find "CUTE" On An October Monday!

      After an 'interesting' weekend...first of all, why do people call something 'interesting' when they really mean 'not so good!'? ^_^...As I was saying...after an interesting weekend I thought I'd be a good girl today and just share some 'CUTE"!

      Unfortunately, trying to find some 'cute' wasn't that easy on Etsy this morning! O_O The whole 'Activity Feed' was spattered with the 'same old, same old' jewelry (not meaning that it was bad, but meaning that I'd already seen it before), and then consumed by Halloween themed things!...black cats, witches, bats, zombies and monsters! O_O

      Uhhhhh...I DON'T THINK SO! Not on THIS blogpost!!! LOL This blog, and this poetic girl, is all about cute...not gruesome and scary!!!...*cold shiver*...So, I was determined to fish through that activity feed...bit by bit...and find me some CUTE!...And I did! :-) ...

      Cute, right?! ^_^ Okay...I didn't find a 'LOT'of cute this time! But no worries...October is almost over! ^_^ Next month it'll be easier...cuter!...and more autumnal inspired. Or maybe.....*gulp!*....snow inspired! O.O

      Yeah...I said it!...S-N-O-W!!...For some reason, our weather is threatening snow...already!! O_O Thankfully we haven't actually gotten any. But the way the weather people are looking, I fear that it won't be long. I know we had temps in the 20s over the weekend. Definitely low enough for snow! But we just got 'windy'.

      They say we have a cold front and a big change heading our way this week though...so we'll just have to wait and see...Does this mean no more flowers for a while?! Pancake Sunday....But With Flowers!

      Aren't they beautiful?!!! :-)  These are the flowers I mentioned in my post yesterday. The ones my friends gave me as a gift. :-) I can't sniff them...but I can look at them! :-)

    They're no pancakes!... ^_^ ...but they're still beautiful!!! And now that I have pictures, I don't have to worry about my allergies to them, or about them dying on me! ^_^ I'll have them to look at, in photos, for as long as I want!...fuzziness and all! :-)
 

     And before I head off to have my pancakes, I also wanna show you the flowers I've been making!...
 

    They're cream and brown. The little cream and brown one was made for one of the friends that gave me the flowers. :-) I gave both her and her sister some scarves, and I'm also gonna give both of them a little flower boutonniere pin for their coats! :-)
     One sister took a brown and cream scarf. The other took a black and white one. I'm making a black and white pin for her! :-) ...
 

     Call it a 'flower-and-scarf-exchange'! ^_^ Although I think I got the best part of the deal! :-) (You can find some of the crocheted ones for 'you' in my Wuglyees shop, if you like. ^_^)...

A Gift From 1905!!

      No, this cute little silver bird is not the gift I'm talking about! This little bird is just so cute that I just had to share him! ^_^ I like the idea of getting 'function' and 'cute' in the same item...even if I don't have any bottles that I would use it on! LOL...In fact, are there any real bottles left in the world?!! ^_^

      There may not be any real bottles left in the world, but there are pens and real pencils!....somewhere!! ^_^ And I found out, while I was doing a web search yesterday, that the gift I was just given by a girlfriend just might be an old pen and pencil case!...

      Isn't it cute?!! :-)  I love it!! :-) ... But I'm a little afraid to use it too much, because I'm not sure if it's valuable or not...It's wooden, with little dots, and a ribbon design with the name B.B. Gidley inside of it. It also has something that looks like I love N.Y. on the front...or something to that effect...(I can't completely make it out).
      
       When you turn it on it's side...LOOK!!! :-) ...

      ...Flowers!! :-) ... The flowers is probably the reason my girlfriend gave it to me! :-) ...CUTE!!!

     And on both ends of it is the date 1905...
 

     Help, somebody!!...Do you know anything about my little case?!...Here's some more clues...The top middle piece, with the name, slides off...

     ...It has what looks like an ink well at the end...to hold...Oh, I don't know...INK maybe! ^_^

     ...and it has all kinds of compartments when you twist and turn it!...
 

    The compartments don't have pens and pencils in them though. They have metal crochet hooks...the kind you do tiny needlework with...like my boutonnieres! :-)

     AND...there's also two measuring sticks and some crochet hooks that look like they're made out of bone or ivory! They have a lot of turning-tool design work on them. But I couldn't really find anything about them online...probably because I don't know what I'm looking for!! ^_^
 

     One of the measuring rulers is the slide piece under the bottom of the box...
 

     Oh Yeah!...when you slide the top piece, with the name, out...you find that it's TWO pieces put together...
 

    ...One end says "Notes"...When you flip it over to the other side...WOW!!...
 

      ...There's a list of the 'Kings and Queens of England, from William the Conqueror to Edward the Seventh.'...
 

      So....do you know anything about it?!...If so, please leave me a comment. I'm completely at a loss, but I would really like to know what I have...and if my going in and out of it for different size needles to crochet with is gonna de-value it! O_O

      Okay...moving on!...Tomorrow I have some really cute items to share with you that I found on Etsy!...and I have some personal news to share too! :-) ...
