This Bag Full Of Yarn Is About Done!!!

Before I start talking about yarn and crochet projects...which 'YOU KNOW' I'm gonna do!...let me talk about my tiny 'beaked bird helicopters', the hummingbirds. ^_^ Of course I'm always talking about them, but this time I've got pictures to go with all of the hype!! LOL
If you look in the header photo, to the right, above the yellow forsythia bush, and below the bottom line of the hummingbird feeder, you can see one of them! :-) ... Okay! You can't completely see him! But you can see his little black and white marked tail! Can't you?!...Can't you?!!! O_O

Yes, I know it's kinda hard to ignore all of that yellow forsythia!! ^_^ But you HAVE TO ignore it if you wanna see my little hummingbird baby!! :-)

My girlfriend came by with her animal loving son, and  he was happy to ignore the forsythia in order to see the hummingbird! :-) Unfortunately, all he could see was it's little tail hanging from underneath the feeder....UNTIL we told him the trick! ^_^
The trick is to get really close to the window and then jiggle the window blind!...because we've trained our hummingbirds to come to the window and say hello to us when we move the window blind! ^_^ Okay!...so they're not really coming just to say hello! They're actually used to my hubby putting new nectar in the feeder when it gets low. :-) They LOVE to see him coming!!
Anyway, when the window blind is jiggled, this is what you get!...

...you get a curious hummingbird, wondering who you are, and why you're so short! LOL (My husband is over six-feet tall. ^_^) Of course me, I was wondering something too!....I was wondering how long it had been since my window pane had been washed! O_O ... OOPS!!

Moving on!! ^_^ ... These are the projects from my girlfriend's bag of 'INTERESTING' yarn. O_O The short circular neck scarf...

     ... The variegated blue hat...

I just this moment realized that I didn't take a photo of the finished hat!! Ugh! O_O And I'm not stopping my stream of blog thought to snatch the hat off of Shequita's (my head model) head to take a photo of it either!!

You'll just have to imagine it, all variegated blue, with rings of blue and white near the bottom. :-))

Too bad I didn't try that 'imagine this' trick with this 'packing peanuts' yarn scarf!! LOL...

What do you think?...do the ruffles at the bottom make it look at least a little bit girlie?!

Anyway...that's it!! :-) Of course, Saturday has just begun. Who knows what I'll have to talk about tomorrow!! LOL Stay tuned....or not. I'll still be talking to somebody!! ^_^

You Probably Don't Care!

I know you probably don't care,
but I will tell you anyway!
I mean, I have to talk about it.
It's what I do most every day!

I know you have your own things going,
and my things? You could care less.
But I have to spill it, talk,
share, converse, chat, or confess.

Don't you have some days like that,
when you just 'let down your hair'?
Well, today was that for me,
and it's okay if you don't care!

As you see, it didn't stop me.
I'm still talking, cracking wise.
You don't have to read about it.
You can cover up over your eyes!

Forsythia and Crochet 'Packing Peanuts'?!

The backyard was made a bit more beautiful yesterday with the wild growth of the yellow and green forsythia flower bush, buzzing bumble bees, air dancing hummingbirds, and sunshine everywhere! :-)

The air was kinda heavy with humidity, but I didn't notice it much...or at all!...because I didn't go out in it!! ^_^ I was comfortably behind my window panes, and in front of the air conditioner! :-) LOVE air conditioned goodness. LOVE IT!!!

When you're a crazy crocheting fool, like I am, air conditioning during a summer heat wave becomes a good friend...sort of like chocolate is. Well.....chocolate is a different kind of friend, but I think you get my drift! ^_^

Speaking of crocheting.....because that appears to be all I have to talk about these days, besides backyards and hummingbirds! ^_^.....my friend left me a bag of random yarn. Some of it is just YUCKY!!! ^_^ I would not spend good money on it....or bad money for that matter!! But, for some crazy reason (that my brain is not savvy enough to explain to me!) I am determined to make something out of every since ball of this yarn!! ^_^
Two balls of it were like colorful 'packing peanuts'. You know, the Styrofoam filler that you put in your shipping box to keep your item secure. I was almost at a loss as to what I was gonna do with it until my friend said: "Maybe you can make a scarf for my little girl with it....OR SOMETHING!!" ... Hmmmmmm! :-)

Okay...so it's not gonna be the cutest little girl scarf you've ever seen!...but it's sure gonna be the softest!! It's so comfy cozy!!! :-)

I actually finished the whole scarf late last night while I was watching the 'BEAT DOWN' that 'Petra Cetkovska gave Caroline Wozniacki' at the U. S. Open (Tennis, Y'all! ^_^) I put a row of crochet scallops on either end of the scarf to up the cute factor! :-)
I didn't have the right lighting to photograph it. Nor did I want to! (just saying! LOL) Maybe I will today though. We'll see. :-)

Also in the bag was a large ball of this thick, thick yarn!! I made a short circular neck scarf out of it, and this MONSTER flower!! ^_^ ...

It's the perfect size flower to hold one of my ceramic buttons! :-) ...

How large is this flower, you ask?!....Okay, you didn't ask. I asked for you!! LOL.....Well, I took a photograph of it right next to my 16 ounce jar of peanut butter!!! LOL

The real question is: "What am I gonna do with a MONSTER flower?!" O_O Uhhhhh....give it away!!! LOL Somebody must want it....for something! Right?! O_O

I still have some more yarn to go, from my friend's bag. Some variegated blue, and some white 'packing peanuts' yarn. I'm working on a hat from the blue right now, and I think I'm gonna make a 'grown people' scarf from the white. Only time will tell! But, if I get inspired to, I'll photograph it so you can see. If not, you'll know I'm not that happy with it and I'm hiding it in the 'never-to-be-seen-again' bin!! ^_^

So, that's all I got today...unless I come back later to show off my finished projects. :-] Oh Yeah, and It's 'virtual' Friday Date Day too. Woohoo!!!!...Let me see now, is that it?!...You know how hard it is to get a talkative girl to 'SHUT HER MOUTH' for good!! LOL Have a good day, Everybody! ♥

Ode To Flowers

Ode to all loved flowers,
whatever color, shape or form.
You enthrall with sheer delight!
At other times, make my heart warm.

Whether photographed or made,
growing tall out in the yard;
In a vase or porch-side planter,
or just naturally unmarred;

Please know you always make me smile,
and lift my mood when I am down.
The world would be a different place
without a lot of you around!

A Goldfinch and a Graduate!

It's not gonna be a long post this morning because I have a meeting to attend, but I wanted to show you my fuzzy photo of who showed up at my hummingbird feeder again yesterday...Yep! Mr. finch! :-) Or, as I now know him, Mr. Goldfinch! I saw a close up of him on the Audubon site HERE.
When I first saw him I was really excited, thinking maybe I had seen some kind of rare hummingbird! ^_^ But then I took a closer look and realized..."Heyyyyy! He has a short beak!...That's not a hummingbird!!!" :-) Then I realized something else...he WAS rare!! Rare to my feeder!! LOL
The only visitors I get to the hummingbird feeder are....uhhhh...hummingbirds!! ^_^ In fact, even though we usually hang suet from this same hook for the winter birds, we never get birds landing on the hummingbird feeder, as if they're in some kind of 'Twilight Zone' confusion about where they are!! LOL
We have blue jays and cardinals, robins and woodpeckers, and all kinds of birds coming to the suet feeder in the winter, but guess what?!....I've NEVER seen a goldfinch there! NEVER!!! ^_^ So he was a pretty sweet surprise to me anyway, even though he was 'just' a bird, and not a hummingbird! :-)
He was a male goldfinch, probably looking for a lady goldfinch, and totally befuddled with my helicopter-like hummingbirds!! LOL Interestingly though, he was pecking and sipping nectar...SOMEHOW!...from the hummingbird feeder!! I know he was getting something because he would peck and then tilt his head backwards and open and close his beak like he was tasting something! :-) He did that a few times. And then he was just sitting on the perch looking around for a while, before he would go to one of the other four perches and repeat the process!!
Who knew!! Apparently nectar comes out of the feeder if you peck on it!!...But do other birds sip on nectar besides hummingbirds?! O_O How un-bird-educated am I?!!! LOL

Speaking of education, I wanna send a big 'shout-out' to my baby-girl daughter/girlfriend who just graduated her course at Holyoke Community College yesterday!! ^_^

      She worked really hard to get a little more knowledge under her belt to help her out in the financial department in the future, if need be. And with all of her other responsibilities, being a mom, a wife, and a care-giver to her mother-in-law, I'm really proud of the effort she took through all of the wild schedules and exhaustion in order to get it done!! ♥ "Good Onya, Baby Girl!!!" {And, on a side note, she looked so pretty and grown up in her cap and gown standing beside the young people with their purple and blue streaks in their hair, and silver and gold rings and studs in their eyebrows and lips!! ^_^ It's a different world out there...just saying!! ^_^}

Okay, I'm off!!...Have a good day, Y'all!! ♥ {Below is a little poem in honor of the green I'm seeing in the backyard now...finally!!)

GREEN

Beans, asparagus,cabbage and frogs,
cucumbers, shamrocks, and moss on old logs.

Leaves, trees, and tangy mint jam,
Dr. Seuss stories of green eggs and ham.

Grasshoppers, apples, and new lawn-cut grass,
tropical waters and thick bottled glass.

 Pistachio, collards, and yes...Money too!
And don't forget envy. It's green when you stew!

Ecologically aware, reusably clean,
Or you don't know anything. They both are called "green".

A color, a feeling, a veggie, all fun!
And also my favorite color is one!

They're Backkkkkk! :-)

https://www.etsy.com/listing/126198986/crochet-flower-necklace-multicolor-multi?ref=shop_home_active_1

Hi Everybody! :-) I'm not gonna be here long. I've got a meeting to get ready for. But I wanted to share a couple of things that are back! ^_^ One of them is the multi-colored crochet necklace in the header photo.
It's been sitting in my 'Expired' section for quite a while. I wasn't gonna renew it, but when I was looking for a new photo as an avatar for my Wuglyees shop, all I could think of was that I NEED COLOR!!...And what could possibly be more colorful than this necklace?! :-) ...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/126198986/crochet-flower-necklace-multicolor-multi?ref=shop_home_active_1

Sooooo...it's back in the shop! :-) .. (Just click on the picture to take you over to my shop...if you're interested in taking it off my hands...and making me have to find some other crochet piece to use as an avatar!! LOL)

The other thing that's back...and don't you dare laugh at my fuzzy photos and dirty windows!! ^_^ ...is the hummingbirds!!! :-) ...

Well, really...so far anyway!...it's just 'this' hummingbird! He's been sitting on the branch, swaying with the breeze, and going back and forth to the feeder all day yesterday and today. Cool, right?!...

Imagine my happiness when I did a double take and realized it was my beloved 'little fella'!! :-)

I'm sure he'll have some friends soon. Or at least I hope so!! :-) YAY!!!!!...They're back!!...and I'm out!! ^_^ Have a good rest of the weekend, Everybody!! ♥

Double Take

Yes, I looked at it again,
because I couldn't believe what I saw!
Was it meant to catch attention?
Or to make you drop your jaw?

Was it what I thought it was?
Was it real, or was it fake?
Just like life and all it's wonder,
some things need a double take.

Is Monday The Charm?!

Hello!...I hope y'all had a good weekend. :-) Hubby and I, even after my wild stomach issue (which has not done a repeat performance, by the way), had a very quiet weekend. So quiet in fact that we were surprised at all of the goings on when we turned on the news this morning! O_O A little boy buried in sand, protests all over the country, etc.
We spent the weekend watching our hummingbirds,  'House Hunters', reruns of 'Storage Wars', playing chess (hubby), and crocheting (obviously ME! ^_^). We never even turned the television to any of the major stations...purposely! We have our own struggles (financially and health-wise) going on around here! We didn't wanna be thrown into negativity by anybody else's!
But it's Monday now! The weekend of peace and quiet is over!...at least 'this' weekend is over. ^_^ I'm keeping a good thought about next weekend still! :-) And the hummingbirds are helping me keep a good thought because they're frolicking, zipping, zooming, and flying around enjoying the backyard as if it's still the weekend for them in hummingbird-ville! ^_^ Or maybe they think our backyard is a hummingbird airport, and hubby and I are human/hummingbird air traffic controllers! O_O
Whatever the case, I'm thankful that the hummingbirds are outside my window reminding me that life is going on around me, and that it's worth it to lift my head high, look to the future, and sometimes...even among the 'trash heap' of life now...it's good to stop and smell the air.

By the way, I found out an interesting fact about hummingbirds...Did you know that a group of hummingbirds was called a 'charm'?! :-) ...

I thought that was a pretty cool fact!...and appropriate! ^_^ They are quite charming! :-) Now, if only I can figure out how to sit, watch hummingbirds, and get paid!!! LOL

Other than hummingbirds and butterflies in my yard...I saw a black butterfly yesterday! :-) ...not too much else has been going on in the Wug household...and that's a GOOD thing!!! O_O But, as I say, it's Monday....*sigh*...time to get back to the work schedule, health questionnaires, medical phone calls, etc....Doesn't somebody wanna come and do all of this stuff for me?!...kinda makes me wish I had some 'charm'!!! ^_^

Have a good Monday, Everybody!!...and don't forget to stop and watch the birdies! :-)

Butterfly-ish

I'm feeling butterfly-ish.
Wanna flutter...move real slow.
Wanna wander...mind and body.
Not be fast, and 'on the go'.

I'm feeling like I need
a quiet day to hang around.
Have everything wrapped up,
and just block out surrounding sound.

I'm feeling butterfly-ish.
Wanna lay in bed till noon.
Wanna have some time to morph.
Need a tree and a cocoon.

Tomorrow they'll be time
to change and modify.
To spread my wings, add color,
like a brand new butterfly

The Ants Are At It Again!!

Happy Saturday, Everybody!...The sun is shining...even at Roland Garros...so, it's looks like it's gonna be a good day! :-) And thanks to a little 'finagling', it's gonna be a good day for my little hummingbirds at the feeder too! ^_^
Yeah, we had another little 'incident'...with the ants! Grrrr!...I guess having that hummingbird nectar just hanging there, swinging in the wind like a carrot on a string in front of a horse, was a little too much for them! LOL They saw an opportunity and they just had to take it!!!...the little acrobats!!

Those of you who follow the blog regularly probably remember the ant 'situation' we had going on here year before last! Ugh! Those ants were driving my poor little hummingbirds crazy!!...Well, we 'thought' we were long past that ever happening again, since the feeder isn't hanging on a tree branch anymore. It's hanging from the over-hang of the house! :-)
But...those creative acrobatic ants used the blowing of the wind, and the over-growth of leaves on the tree, as an opportunity to get to the feeder!! O_O And once they got to it...they organized..and they were everywhere!!!

I was so surprised to see the ants all over the feeder, and to see my tiny hummingbird friends hovering and darting in an odd pattern...odder than their usual left-right-up-down pattern, I mean. :-] Something had to be done...and hubby did it!...He broke off the 'bridge-to-feeder-tree-branch' they were using, and used the water spray bottle to get the other ones that were still on the feeder...OFF!...SO THERE!!!...Right?!...

Well....mostly right! :-] A little later in the day hubby noticed one lone 'large' ant going around and around the feeder!! O_O How did he get on there?!...

When we noticed that there were a lot of ants going up and down the branch and leaves, where hubby had broken the branch off, we realized what had happened...Apparently one lone steely, acrobatic ant had been still on the feeder...underneath somewhere...when hubby sprayed the others off! O_O Now he was all alone, with no relief coming!
We could see all of the ants, with their feelers working non-stop, trying to figure it out....trying to figure it out......TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT!!!! :-)) So hubby put them out of their misery by pulling out the water spray bottle and knocking the lone acrobat off!! ^_^ Once he was gone...so were the rest of the organized acrobatic team! :-)
I guess they know when to give something up as lost! :-] But I don't mind telling you that every time there's a strong wind in the backyard now, hubby is at the window...checking!! LOL Those little acrobatic ants are still wielding power over him, and they're nowhere around!! ^_^ Oh, if only he could turn them all into pretty yard decoration!! ^_^ ...

But no, no! ^_^ Then who would be there to keep him on his toes, and test his supposed garden/yard domination?!! LOL Nope! All things are as they should be! ^_^ ... Have a good day, Everybody! :-)

If you don't have time for a poem

If you don't have time for a poem...
(not to write one, I mean to emote)...
then you don't have time to be sitting
and reading this short little note.

And you don't have time for a 'breather',
to pause for a small bit of rest.
No time for a moment's reflection.
No time for a giggle and jest.

No, you don't have the time some are wasting,
with schedules that they have to keep.
No time to be spending on verbage,
whether shallow or thoughtfully deep.

If you don't have time for a poem,
Then you don't have time for me!
So get up and get yourself going,
there's somewhere that you ought to be!!

I Caught A Hummingbird With My Pancakes!

Usually on Sunday mornings I pretty much know what I'm going to be talking about here on the blog...and so do you!...PANCAKES!! :-] But today, while I was waiting for my pancakes, I caught a hummingbird! :-)

You may have to click on the photo to make it large enough to see him...because he is a little bitty thing! But he's there!! :-) And he's been there for a few days now!

I thought, due to the pouring rain we had all day yesterday, that he was gonna be a 'No-Show'...but I was wrong! He showed up...and showed up...and showed up ALL DAY!! :-) At one point, when the rain was pouring so bad that he could have been hit by a stray raindrop and gotten knocked out!, he went underneath the leafy brush of my bushy tree and hovered! :-)

     What a little cutie!! :-)

He's a completely different hummingbird than any I've seen at the feeder in years past. He's very tiny, and he's got different coloring. He's very dark. I'm not sure what kind of hummingbird he is. I'm not a very good name person for birds. I just like to see them. And the more colorful the better...whatever kind of birds it is! :-)
I'm sure other hummingbirds will start to show up soon. They always do. But by then this little fella may have 'dibs' on the feeder, and he'll be ready to fight for it too!! O_O I guess hummingbirds are like people in that way. I mean...once I find a comfortable spot, or stake my claim to a certain stack of pancakes...DON'T BOTHER ME!!! ^_^
Speaking of pancakes, I have to go and eat mine, and get myself ready for my meeting this morning (Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses). But first I wanted to show you a couple of things that caught my eye, besides the hummingbird, this morning...

I'm sure you're not surprised that a flower caught my eye, ^_^ but I know you didn't expect me to share a horse, did you?! LOL
Now, after a hummingbird, a rose flower ring, and a horse bookend, there could be only one thing left to have with my pancakes...MUSIC! :-)

So I'm gonna share the song I heard for the first time this morning, by a singer I never heard before! Enjoy!! :-) And go get yourself some pancakes too! :-) Have a good day, Everybody!!

Sunday Mornings

Sunday mornings are for quiet,
and for music in your ears.
Not for fretting over business,
or for struggle, or for tears.

Sunday mornings are for worship,
or for time to just relax.
Not for schedules that need keeping,
or for dealing with the 'Quacks'!

Sunday mornings are for slowness,
sipping on a cup of 'Joe';
Getting ready for the new week,
when you have to 'Go! Go! Go!'

Sunday mornings are for birds,
crows and woodpeckers alike.
Or for pancakes on the griddle,
or for snowy morning hikes.

Sunday mornings are for color,
and for spousal 'chitter chat',
and for doing a bit of reading,
or writing poems that end like.....that!

YIPPEE!!!!!

You would think, after weeks of sitting still looking out the window, with my camera at the ready...and cramps in my clicker finger...I'd be tired of looking at...or for...hummingbirds! Well...you'd be wrong!

Not only am I still enjoying the constant watchfulness I have to be in every time something flies by the window...a butterfly, cardinal, large insect, or robin...but I'm also loving looking at hummingbirds in prints or paintings, like the original watercolor hummingbird by asho in my header photo.
Or this print set of two painted watercolor hummingbirds by rachellelevingston.

But guess what?!...As beautiful as their hummingbird paintings are...and they 'are' beautiful!...I no longer have to settle for just a still painting of a hummingbird. Yippee!! We finally got footage of the resident Holyoke, 'sitting in, and flitting around the tree in my backyard', hummingbirds!!! :-)

I know...it's not very good footage, but what do you want?! I was so excited to finally be in the right position to get some footage that it didn't matter what kind of footage it was...LOL...the 'first time' that is!! :-)) ...Yep! We got some more!!! :-) Take a peek at "Hershey" the hummingbird!

"Hershey" got his name because hubby thought he looked sorta like a chocolate drop. *Teehee*...Hubby named the other three hummingbirds....YES!!!! Three!!...that were hanging around our tree yesterday too!
He named the baby grayish one "Horacio". I asked why and he said: "He's so tiny that he needs a big name!" I asked why he thought Horacio was a 'big' name.....and then that saga was about to begin...You know the one like we had about the parrot...So I said: "Never mind. Horacio it is!" LOL
"Hershey" has a little white band around his neck. "Chico" is bigger and has a splash of red under his chin. And "Zip" is brownish, with all of his feathers always out of place. ^_^
"Hershey" though, is apparently now considering our feeder and our backyard tree his personal home. :-) It was pouring rain all day yesterday and he just kept coming back, flitting around, sitting in the branches, and preening himself and sipping nectar...all day!! :-)
As a matter of fact, this morning when hubby went out there to get the feeder down, to clean it and put more fresh nectar in it, "Hershey" was flying around the tree keeping an eye on him,...flying away, and coming back.

Hopefully now we all can just live in peaceful human versus hummingbird existence, and I can stop boring you guys with my hummingbird sagas all the time! LOL
Now I can go back to boring you with my crochet sagas!! ^_^ Speaking of which, I had a repeat customer recently, a gentleman who likes my men's boutonnieres. He was the hit of his niece's wedding recently, wearing a boutonniere from my shop...and he sent me a picture and gave me permission to share it!!!! :-)
Doesn't he look 'dapper'?! Hubby and I love the combo of the boutonniere, pocket handkerchief, and hat. "THANKS so much for letting me share", Mr. Excellent Customer!!! :-)
Okay, I'm all done...except for one more thing...I found a video on Youtube with directions for those of you who want to make your own homemade hummingbird nectar, so you can get some hummingbirds to visit and stay in your yard! It's 'Easy Peasy'!!!

And Oh Yeah! I didn't forget my movie theme for today either! ^_^ I thought this one was the perfect one for today!!!

Spring Is The Rain

Spring is the rain,
when the flowers grow again,
and new life is let remain.
After months of drench and drain,
you now see roses down the lane.

Spring is the rain,
and the budding of the grain,
and birds, out your window pane.
When the weather makes you sane,
and its no longer on your brain,
'cause there's no cold to give you pain.

Spring is the rain-
the time for traveling on the train,
for watching trees, not weather vanes,
and raking leaves-Autumn's disdain.
You lift your head, just like a crane,
and now your thought's no longer vain.
You think of seasons that were plain,
but now its blooming, down on Main,
because spring is the rain.

Colorful Apples...and Remakes in Black and White!

A little apple for the teacher?!....Nah! Not this time. This Yellow Distressed Primitive Apple by merritthyde is for the new visitors to the backyard! :-) I thought it was the perfect gift to share with you because it's a little unlike other apples. It's colorful, distressed a bit, and kinda square. Just the same way 'I' am!! LOL
Welcome to the backyard!! I thought I'd say a direct 'Howdy-Do' since I've noticed that so many of you are honoring me by your comments and attention. I appreciate it very much!!!!...So, pull up a chair, a blanket, a stool, WHATEVER! Get yourself a cold drink from the fridge. You might even find some cold chicken and biscuits in there! The microwave's in the kitchen. Help Yourself!! :-)
Just so you'll know your way around, on the right hand side-bar you'll find a little info about me, or you can click on any of the crocheted items you see and go to my Wuglyees shop and look around, or  you can go and say 'Hi!' to the other visitors to the backyard!
I also giveaway something I've made twice every month. This month it's a hat. You can find a link to that on the side-bar too. If you're hanging around a while, you can enter the Giveaway to win it too! Just click on the pictures to take you to the directions...Oh Yeah!! There's always a poem at the bottom of the day's post too! Hope you enjoy those too!...Okay, While you go and finish looking around, I'll be over here typing. And again....Welcome!! :-)
I hope you all had a good weekend. The weather around our neck of the woods was exquisite! The robins were flitting around all over the backyard. I even thought I saw my Mama robin gathering more building material!!...I say 'thought' because unfortunately she wasn't wearing her pearls and high heels. And without those she looks a lot like the neighbor birdies! ^_^
Her pretty turquoise egg, from the storm time, is still sitting on the ground there. It's kinda covered up with some leaves and things now. I don't know if she did that or not, but it looked so 'purposefully' protected that I didn't dare bother it.
Hubby was like a 'hog in slop' this weekend, out there in the garden, with all that sunshine, blue skies, and time on his hands....After a whole lot of napping and catching up on sleep I mean. It was a loooooong week last week!...I'm not gonna bore you with a bunch of green bushes (that's what his plants look like to me now! LOL), but he does have these pretty 'babies' coming up!...
He was very happy to see these.!..and not so happy to see that something...he said 'mealie bugs', I think...had been nibbling on some of his sunflower plants! O_0 He was taking care of that, while I enjoyed looking at the beautiful freshly cut grass, and.....wait for it!!....HUMMINGBIRDS!!! :-)
I tried....Oh! How I tried...to get some footage of them. Yes, I said 'THEM'!! I had 2 or 3 different ones come to the feeder yesterday!! One of them had the most beautiful blue coloring under his throat!...I'm gonna try to get some video of them today. Don't hold your breath though. I sat there all day yesterday, holding my camera, waiting....waiting....waiting.
Every time I put the camera down, thinking 'Eh! They're not coming back!', they would pop in, take a sip, air dance, and fly off....before I could get my camera back on and set!!! It was so frustrating!! LOL And it happened like that about 5 times before I finally decided: "Go ahead!! Drink all you want!! I'm not taking your picture!!"...They must have heard me, because no more came back after that anyway. Imagine if I had sat there waiting!!!!
I had other things to do anyway! I started a new crochet project...Do you remember this scarf?
Well, it went off to a new home, to live in Mexico, back in November. I said I was going to put another black and white scarf or shawl in the shop to replace it because it got a lot of views the short time it was in the shop. Unfortunately though, I've been kinda preoccupied with Yoyo bags and hats and things...So, now that I have some time between projects, I decided to make another one.
I'm not making it exactly like the other one, because it was a little stiff to me...although very pretty!
This one is a bit more......Ummm....flimsy?! That doesn't sound like the right word either. Maybe free-flowing, or drapey. I don't know what the word is, but it'll be soft and easy to flip over your shoulder if you get chilled. Depending on how it looks, I might even make it a bit longer...width-wise....and let it become a shawl. We'll see!
It's pretty long, length-wise. Think Lauren Bacall, in Casablanca, or Ginger Rogers in ANYTHING!! :-] It's my nod to Old Hollywood...sorta! :-]
Okay, that's what my weekend was like. What about yours?! Wanna share?! I'd love to hear!

Remakes

Have you noticed all the sequels?
All the remakes from the past?
I guess I'm not the only one
that likes the shadow old shows cast.

Some are kinda silly.
And still others make me groan.
There are good ones, and some duds,
that, frankly, should have been left alone.

What I think is really funny
is kids today don't have a clue!
They think all these shows and movies
are creative, wild, and new!

I remember 'Charlie's Angels',
Yes, and 'Beverly Hillbillies' too.
What ever happened to 'Little Women'?
and Scooby Doo, where are you?!

They remade 'Leave it to Beaver'.
I think I'm gonna have to mourn it.
Come on, Is there nothing sacred?!
Even 'Spider-man', and 'Green Hornet'?!

Maybe it's just me!
Maybe I'm a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
But, please leave the old shows alone!!
I don't wanna think about what's next!!
