Where Is Dr. Seuss When You Need Him?!!

     Hi, Y'all! :-) I don't have a lot of time to talk tonight, so I'm just gonna show you the last project from my bag of ugly 'yucky' yarn. :-) You can see the beginnings of it in the header photo. It's a striped hat. I'm adding some white yarn with the blue and making a hat with the inspiration markings of Dr. Seuss's 'cat-in-the-hat'. ^_^ Or, at least, that's the first thing I thought of when I got it going. :-))
 

     The only difference is that it's not gonna be as tall as Dr. Seuss's hat! ^_^ Or as brightly colored.

 

     I may make a flower to add to it too, if there's enough of it left. Totally unlike Dr. Seuss!! I don't think Dr. Seuss was into crochet flowers! ^_^
 

     It's been a great weekend so far. Tennis...food...tennis...crochet....tennis!! ^_^ What's not to love!! In fact, I just got through watching a great match between Kevin Anderson and Andy Murray. Who knew that Kevin Anderson had that kind of fight in him!! :-] Just in case some of you are tennis watchers and you haven't seen the match yet, I won't tell you who won. But don't assume you know!! ^_^
      Tomorrow evening the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus, are playing each other in the semi-finals!!!! I can't wait to see that match!!!! :-) ... Until then...me and an ugly Dr. Seuss-inspired hat have a date! ^_^ See you later! ♥

Balance

A Day Going Downhill...And Beaded Artsy Hat...#3!!

      I'm having so much fun with my artsy hats!! Or should I say...thanks to Yaya, of Whispering Pines blog!...my artsy 'chic' hats! ^_^ You should see me when I'm going through my colors and matching the right applique to the right color! Talk about toe-curling fun!!! LOL

      Choosing the grey heather yarn for this silver, black, and tulle applique was a 'no-brainer' though. It practically picked itself! ^_^

      There is so much bead work on the applique too!!!...

      I just have to find the right person to buy it!! ^_^ Is that YOU?!! If so, just click HERE and go ahead and get it!! :-)
 

     
      On a completely different note, have you ever had one of those days that started out great and then quickly took a left turn...or was more like a roller coaster?!...That's what happened to me today! O_O My morning started out with pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon...
 

      What could possibly be wrong with that, you ask?!....Absoluely NOTHING!! ^_^ ...
 

      That was the start of my great day!!! And it was delicious!!!...to the third degree!!! ^_^ ***I almost said to the 4th or 5th degree, but it sounded like I was trying to quote the law, or sing a song by the 5th dimension!! LOL*** And with my half glass of orange juice and hot cup of green tea to wash it all down, my day started off just great!! :-)
      Then hubby and I got into one of our conversations, and...without telling you what it was about...let me just say that the mood of my day started to go downhill! O_O ... But then we had our meeting at the Kingdom Hall, and the day's mood went back up!! :-)
      After the meeting I went back to work on my latest artsy hat...
 

      Then I realized that I didn't have enough yarn to finish it, and the store was closed where I get the yarn!!...Aargh!!!...STOPPAGE!...I hate stoppage!!! LOL....Roller coaster...downhill!! LOL...So, I was left to mentally play around with how I was gonna apply my new applique to the hat, once I got some more yarn and was able to finish the hat!...Did I already say: Aargh!!???....I did?!...Okay, good! :-))

      My dilemma is about whether to have the dangling bead tendrils hang off the edge of the hat or not.....I'm still debating....Suggestions are welcome! ^_^

      By the way, there is no argument about the center flower. ^_^ It can go anywhere and be adorable!!! :-) ...
 

      And I love that center metal flower!!! :-) ...
 

      Then...my day started to go back uphill when I started to watch the football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers! :-) I like both of the teams, but my long-time team is the Cowboys!! :-) ...But when my team lost!!..... :-( ...Downhill again!!....AND, wouldn't you know it, this was also about the time the conversation hubby and I started earlier came back up again!!!!! Aargh!!!!

      Thankfully there is always tomorrow! :-) ... Maybe by the time the sun has risen, and the temperatures outside have gone up, ***because it's been DOG cold!!...old southern expression. LOL***and my first morning green tea with honey and lemon has been sipped, and my morning scripture text has been mentally digested, this day will be a distant memory!!!...And we can try again...then...for a good day! ^_^ Although...O_O... it'll be Monday! Typically Mondays don't go so well!! LOL
      That's alright!! I have to have something smile-worthy to end this post with. And thinking about tomorrow going better than today is making me smile right now...So I'll take it!!! ^_^ Have a good rest of the night, Everybody!! ♥

Fishing-Life

This world is like a pond in which
you can't help but get wet.
We are like the fish snatched up
into the fisher's net.

our jobs and bills and debt,

that we follow to the top;

Now, There's Chocolate....And Then There's CHOCOLATE!!!

      Sorry to be doing my blog post so much later today, but I got involved in another custom order and my mind was taken away...like 'Calgon'. ^_^ Do you remember that Calgon commercial?! :-) Well, short of the relaxing bubble bath, I've been mentally taken away by one thing or another all day! :-)

      It actually started after dinner last night! Hubby and I enjoyed some hot soup and started to hunt the kitchen for something sweet to top off the meal...but couldn't find ANYTHING! O_O So, we had to make something ourselves, from scratch!

      A few, cups of sugar, butter, and flour later...plus a couple of cups of chocolate chips! ^_^...and we had coconut chocolate chip cookies...or biscuits, as it turned out. :-))

      I tried to modify my peanut butter cookie dough recipe into a chocolate chip cookie recipe...because I figured that using the last of the coconut flakes I had in the fridge would be a good idea!...and ended up making the cookies a lot thicker than I intended! ^_^

      Don't get me wrong...I mean they still are chocolate chip cookies after all!! ^_^...they tasted great!!!...They just were thicker....more like a crunchy, gooey, biscuit than a crunchy, gooey cookie! ^_^ All in all......STILL FABU!!! :-)

      As I was putting cookie mounds on the cookie sheet to bake, I got a phone call with a request for something else that was chocolate..........a crocheted hat! ^_^ So I got right on that this morning!...
 

      Eat a little chocolate...*munch, munch, munch*...crochet a little chocolate! LOL Right up my alley on a cold day like today! :-)

      After today I think I'm gonna be laying off the baking for a while. :-) And then again...let's not put anything in stone, shall we! LOL...Have any of you been baking good stuff lately?! Come on, share!!! ♥ And have a good rest of the year! ^_^

Chocolate

A snow storm on the way,
finding out you're hard in debt.
Somehow it's not so bad,
if you have melted chocolate!

Bad news everywhere,
want to throw your T.V. set.
Thankfully there is music
and some deep dark chocolate!

Doggie had an accident,
a long trip to the vet.
A waiting room with lots to read,
but you can nibble chocolate.

Grocery shopping too.
While you run in there to get
dinner for the evening
you can grab some chocolate!

Is It Too Early In The Morning To Talk?!

      It probably is. Too early to talk, I mean. But.....yep! I'm gonna do it anyway! ^_^ But nothing major. I just missed yesterday's post and I'm feeling 'missed day yappy'! LOL Bare with me.

      Look in the photos and say 'Hello!' to my latest hat! ^_^ It's the same pattern as the last few flip-up hats I've done, but I did this one with a new yarn. A new yarn 'for me', that is. I never used 'Caron Simply Soft Paints' version yarn. This particular color, peacock feather, is my favorite so far...Of course it's the other one I've used so far, so that could be why! ^_^

      It has hints of blue, green, and purple in it. Like a peacock...DUH! LOL...And yes, I know that the blue is showing most in my photos! ^_^ Shall I say it again?...I am a crocheter. NOT a photographer!! LOL

      I made the flip up part a little different this time. I crocheted a button hole into the brim, and put two buttons, one over the other, onto the side of the hat. It was an experiment to see if the flip works at two different angles...And it does! :-)

      This yarn seems more 'springy' than the regular Simply Soft yarn I use though. It makes the flip of the hat not want to flip. It wants to 'roll'! :-))
 

      Whatever! ^_^ It's still very soft, and looks as cute as can be! I know a few friends who would 'love' this little 'head-covering' for their field service bags!! ^_^

      I have other random stuff to talk about though...like, have you ever tried potato soup with cheddar cheese and crunched up potato chips on the top?!....No?! O_O Well, I'm not surprised!! :-)) I made it up for myself the other day when nothing else would stay down in my stomach! ^_^ It was a potato soup sipping good time!! LOL...But now I'm craving it like a woman with a 'crack' habit or something!! ^_^ (And before you ask, NO! I never have had a 'crack' habit! :-)) I have had random relationships with 'crack' users though!....DON'T ASK!!...So I know from whence I speak!! LOL)

      My husband paid me a nice complement this morning...or at least I 'think' it was a complement. O_O He said that the world inside my head was 'fun and whimsical' at times, and he enjoys my writing!...I was flattered and thankful he didn't ask me what I thought about the world inside 'his' head!! LOL That's a whole roller coaster ride going on inside that head!! ^_^ Good thing I love roller coasters!

       The last thing I wanna talk about this morning is the 'love' project I'm working on in between making hats! And I almost teared up just typing that!! O_O The reason is because what I'm doing is finishing some projects that my dear friend sent to me before she passed away.
      There are a couple of afghans with finished blocks needing to be sewn on, and a knitted sweater that needs a zipper attached. Or, at least, that's what 'I' think it needs. She didn't give me any instructions on how to finish anything, but she knew that I would step right into her love of crafting, and finish what she had started. ;'_'; And I will too!!
      Yesterday I sewed the last crochet strip of this afghan on, and also sewed in all of the loose threads...

      It's off-white, with navy blue sections. The navy blue also had flecks of red and other colors in it too. SOFT!!...and FINISHED! :-] I'm not gonna sell it. It's the kind of afghan you give to someone you love.....I'm gonna really have to love the person I give it to! My Nancy's heart is in it!! ♥

      I was gonna try to finish this afghan too!...

      ...but her and I had completely different crocheting styles...
 

      ...and you'd be able to see where her afghan stopped and mine began! O_O ...
 

      I didn't want that!...so I decided to just sew the remaining blocks she left together, and crochet a border around them...

      Now I have to decide whether to put tassels on it and have it be a scarf, or use it as a small table runner, or....or.....I don't know what. O_O I'm open to ideas if you have any.
 

      In the meantime, I have a couple bags of her yarn to turn into something too! And there's all kinds of colors! :-) I'm sure there's some 'wuglyee' things in there somewhere!! :-) ... Okay. Time to go hunt up some breakfast...And yes, I did just think about the soup again!! LOL I wonder if there's a potato soup, cheese and potato chip hot line I can call?! I'm Seeing Green...And Other Colors Too!

      Wouldn't you just know it!...Time goes by slowly, and my life has been as boring as boring can be lately. Then.....the day I decide to come to the blog to show you my latest hat...my blue green crochet hat!...just happens to be the day after a bad night I had.....{and there's no pretty blue green way to say this}.......a bad night of puking!!!...Ugh!...*shaking my head*

      I try so hard to keep this blog space full of 'smile-worthy' things, but every once in a while....!!!! Ugh!...I'm still not sure what I ate, smelled, touched, etc... that caused the problem last nght. All I know is that I had a great day yesterday, did my exercises, finished crocheting my hat, etc...a GREAT day!...and then last night around 1:00 a.m. it started! O_O

      A bad pain in my belly woke me up. Not a sharp pain, but a dull ache that kept getting increasingly uncomfortable. By the time I felt the need to fling my C-Pap mask from my face and sit up, I was ready to scream!!...Hubby will attest to the fact that I had already been moaning for at least a half an hour prior to this!...Poor baby. He didn't get much sleep after this either. :-(

      I started mentally going through what I'd eaten, and trying to decide whether that could be the culprit...As if it would matter at this point! :-)) Catfish...shrimp...fried hot dog...a square of Hershey's chocolate....I immediately eliminated the chocolate. ^_^ It must've been the hot dog. It had to be, right?!! LOL

      Anyway, it was me, a cold towel, a large bucket, and a husband doing backrub and bucket-cleaning duty from 1:00 to about 4:30 a.m.!!! Ugh! Thankfully there was a few minutes in between each episode for both of us to get a few naps. But, let me tell you, there isn't an ounce of fun in seeing your 'innards' OUTSIDE your body in pretty shades of green and.....etc!! LOL

      It is much nicer seeing pretty shades of green and...so forth...in a pretty bracelet like this (below)!...

      Thankfully last night is over!.. ^_^ ...my 'innards' are INSIDE where they belong, and have been for hours now, and the only green I'm looking at is sitting alongside some blue...on my new hat! :-) ...

      And so, another hat is finished! :-) ... Now I'm going to start a dark sage green one!...I guess I haven't gotten enough of green after all! LOL...Have a good rest of the day, Everybody! ♥
