Cookies Are Pretty Things Too, Right?!

      I love pretty things! And it doesn't matter what kind of pretty thing it is. :-) I even found this rushing blue stick man to be pretty when I saw him last night! :-) He seems to be telling me something...like..."Hurry up, Wug! Let's go get 'em!" ^_^

      I'm kinda sorta in a hurry up mode these days anyway. I'm hurrying up to do everything! Why?....Uhhhhhh....I don't know. LOL I think it's a leftover mode from doing all of the crocheting projects I've been doing lately. :-) But now that my schedule is slowing down, who knows why I'm still in 'blue stick man' hurry up mode!...but I am. And so it goes!! ^_^

      I'm also in 'let's look at pretty stuff' mode. Thus, today's pretty Etsy finds! :-) ...

      If you've followed my blog even for a minute one thing is probably very clear to you....I LOVE COLOR! :-) And those coasters above have color in spades!!! ^_^

      Another thing that would be clear to you is that I love a good nap...any time I can get it!! :-) That's why this little guy caught my eye!...

       A penguin pillow seems like it would be a good nap-buddy! ^_^ {Not as if I really needed a nap-buddy! ^_^ I can nap anywhere, any time, with or without a nap-buddy!...just saying. LOL}

       Pretty music is always a good thing though. I'm listening to some right now, in fact! {Kingdom Melodies, Volume 4} :-) There may even be a french horn or two in there somewhere! :-) ...

      Well, if it's wrong to like a lot of different pretty things...especially pretty flower jewelry....then I don't wanna be right! ^_^

      Okay...enough about Etsy. Let me tell you what I created last night!...I finally finished the other black hooded scarf I was working on. YAY! I'm making a black flower brooch pin for it right now.
      And I also created some more of these! :-) ...
 

      My famous...because I say they're famous! ^_^...peanut butter chocolate chip coconut  almond cookies!!!...

      I made about 5 dozen of them last night! :-) It almost turned into a 'dough-disaster', because about half-way through the cookie caper I realized I only had half of the butter I needed to make them!! O_O
      Thanks to a couple of good neighbors it didn't turn out to be a disaster. And, in fact, I built some stronger bonds with the neighbors! ^_^ One loaned us butter, but it wasn't in a stick. It was a tub. And it was 'light' butter. O_O Thank you good neighbor, but uhhhhhh...'light' butter in my cookies, and me trying to figure out how much 'light' butter to measure into how many 'light' tablespoons......No!!!! LOL It was too much figuring for this tired cookie-craving brain to do!! LOL
      I had to borrow a 'stick' of 'regular' butter from another neighbor...in exchange for a dozen cookies to all neighbors involved!! ^_^ 
 

      It worked. And we all have cookies this morning!! ^_^ I was too tired to take pictures of the cookies after I sugar-forked the top of them, and after they were done a baking. But trust me...it was done!! ^_^ I only wish you could smell my house this morning!!!!

      Okay....no more pretty things, cookie-talk, or tea! But I do have tons of falling rain...and a poem.....and lots of milk! :-)) Have a good day, Everybody! ♥

What Do You Have On Your Feet Right Now?!

      Hello, Everybody!...No, I'm not gonna get into anything deep today! You can thank me later! ^_^ No, I'm not gonna be all 'Big Sister-ish' and try to solve everybody's problems, or try to make sure everybody is eating their vegetables and drinking sufficient amounts of water! LOL

      What I'm gonna do is talk about your feet! ^_^ What are you wearing right now?!...Sneakers or tennis shoes?!...Work or snow boots?!...High heel office shoes?!...Or are you, like me, barefoot, with not even a hint of toenail polish?...Or simply in your comfy bedroom slippers...bunny slippers included...dragging around the kitchen looking for breakfast and a long overdue cup of hot coffee?! ^_^

      Are you looking at your feet right now?! LOL...That question is for those of us who don't know whether we're going or coming, or if we still even have feet!!...and who had to look because they weren't sure they had anything on their feet!! ^_^ Don't laugh!...unless you're going through the change!...because then I know that 'you know' exactly what I mean!! LOL...*Disclaimer: I've worn two left shoes to a gathering before!...and I've put my shoes in the refrigerator and missed a gathering altogether because I was so distraught that I couldn't find my shoes!! ^_^*

      WHATEVER!! LOL...The reason I'm talking about feet is, of course, because of a couple of shops I found on Etsy. WOW! What pretty shoes they had!!!...Made me almost want to grow some more feet!...*How fortunate dogs are to have four feet!...LOL...And, go figure, they don't even like to wear shoes!! ^_^*

Is This An Etsy Rant...Or Not?!

     Hello!...AARGH!!!...And yes, I'm starting already!!! ^_^ I turned on the computer about...well...what seems like 80 years ago!...and it was running soooooooooo sllllllllooooooooooowwwwwww! Then a box popped up...'important updates' needed to happen...18 of them!! O_O

     YIKES!...So needless to say, it took a while! :-)) Now I'm back in...and hmmmm...what am I gonna talk about?! O_O Let's see......I got nothing! LOL...I had to share the beads (in the header photo) though! They caught my eye first thing this morning....first thing when I could actually go to Etsy, I mean.

   Now I've got to go and get some breakfast...do some studying...etc. But I wanted to talk about something that has been on my mind lately. And no...I'm not talking about the government shutdown...Katy Perry's new 'Roar' video...or the moose that's been roaming through one of our neighborhood towns! O_O ***who knows what's up with that!! O_O This isn't moose country around here!***

    No...what I wanted to talk about is Etsy's new operating procedures. As of January it appears that some new rules are gonna be in place. O_O I've seen that a LOT of Etsians are really upset about it!!

     It seems that the fact that you'll be able to hire whoever you want for your shop, and even get some outside...company...help...is upsetting people...extremely so!! People are worried that our little 'handmade' community is gonna start being more like Ebay and other sites!

     I'm not sure...yet...what to think about it! I mean...right now it doesn't really bother me if people out-source to a company to make the T-shirts that they use to put their 'handmade' drawings, or whatever, on!...Should it bother me?! O_O Maybe after I see what it does for Etsy searches (meaning whether my Wuglyees shop becomes invisible!), and if sales stop...more than they've already stopped I mean. Aargh!...Anyway, I think I'll have an opinion about it then! But, as of right now, I'm not understanding all of the 'hoopla' and 'jumping of ship'!! O_O

    I'm more concerned that because of all of the 'fixing' of things, my shop has been offline sorta....MESSING WITH MY CUSTOMERS BEING ABLE TO FIND ME!!! Grrrrrr!....AARGH! I think if Etsy just hurries up and leaves well enough alone...we'll all be fine!...but only time will tell!

       Was that what they call a 'rant'?! O_O If so....consider today's rant OVER! :-)) Proceed to the pretty Etsy hat, and autumn leaf!...

Sometimes The Choice "Is" Yours!

      Some days you wake up and your schedule for the day is all laid out for you like a southern Sunday dinner...You have much to do, much to eat, and life looks like it's gonna be good! :-) ...And then there are the days when you wake up and look out the window and see darkness and rain clouds. The days when your schedule is all laid out for you like a soggy picnic lunch...with wetness everywhere, and you know that the umbrella toting ants are gonna be the only ones having any fun!

      Guess which kind of day I'm having!! ^_^ ... Now, I have a choice! I can go to my 'happy place'...mentally...and put on some mental sun tan lotion....Wait a minute! O_O I don't put on sun tan lotion even in my real life! I'm allergic! LOL....Okay, scratch the 'happy place' scenario!

     As I was saying, I have a choice. I can forge ahead with a 'puss' on my face, bringing everybody that comes in contact with me down...OR...I can bolt forward into my rainy day, with a smile on my face, and the anticipation of having a peaceful quiet day all to myself...to crochet!!! ^_^ Guess which choice I'm making! :-)

    ...That probably won't start today though! Let's face it, if you were a robin, or a hummingbird, would you choose a cloudy rainy day to do your nesting and buzzing by?!...I wouldn't!! LOL...I'd be somewhere trying to patent the one-and-only allergen-free sun tan lotion!!!...or building me a rain shelter! ^_^ .. Choices, choices!!

I'm Becoming Ac-CUSTOM-ed To The Feeling!

        Custom....hmmmm. O_O When I looked over at Wikipedia this morning, looking for the definition for "custom", I came across nine different definitions!....Nine! And none of them were talking about the definition I thought I would find! LOL

     It was an education though!...For instance, did you know that "Custom" is a model of guitar made by "Fender", and that there was a Belgian rock band, and an Irish television series both called "Customs"?..."Custom" is also the stage name for a New York based musician by the name of Duane Lavold.

   The four definitions that I was familiar with were these:

--> Convention norm) = a set of agreed, stipulated or generally accepted rules, norms, standards or criteria, often taking the form of a custom

-->  Custom (law) or customary law, = laws and regulations established by common practice

--> Customs = a tariff on imported or exported goods

--> Norm (sociology) = a rule that is socially enforced

      The definition that came closest to what I wanna talk about today is the first one...custom being an agreed upon standard of doing something....something like crocheting boutonnieres and lapel pins! :-)) I've been doing a lot of "custom" orders lately. My customers have requested certain styles, and certain colors, of items that they wanted made for specific events. Three of those events were weddings.

    I made this boutonniere set...

         ...and made this one for the groom...

         ...and then I had to go back and make two more. One for the father-of-the-bride, and one for the ring bearer :-) ...

        I also sent along a free white brooch for the bride, with a button like the one for the groom's boutonniere. I didn't take any pictures of that one though. I try to stay away from that camera, except for required business! LOL

      After that, I got a custom request for two tiny, tiny, sewing thread sized lapel pins...also for a wedding...

      Done!

      Then, day before yesterday, another custom request...for three lemon colored lapel pins, and a green one...for a groom and his groomsmen! :-) ...

       Again.....Done! It's being shipped out of the country this morning! :-) I was even able to use my fold-over fasteners on the back of these!...

       This idea works perfectly!...

      Anybody wanna buy some cuff links?! LOL...I may have to reserve the cuff liks for when I make belts. The depth of the cuff link may be needed then.....What?!....I've never shown you one of my belts?!.....Stay tuned! ^_^

      That's not the project I'm working on right now though. Right now I'm working on this...

     I know it doesn't look like much yet. It's got a long way, and a lot of colors, to go! In the end I'm hoping it will be a warm "Sweater Lap Blanket". That's what I call them anyway. I haven't made one for quite a while. In fact, the last one I made was for a baby!...

     I was feeling the need to put my "crochet chops" to use! LOL This blanket absolutely challenges my nonchalant crocheting. I have to be paying attention with this one!

       Speaking of 'paying attention', today is the last day...for all intents and purposes I mean...of the Tour De France. If Bradley Wiggins pays attention to the road, the race should be his. Then he can leisurely ride into Paris tomorrow, smiling all the way! :-)

      I've become accustomed to watching bike races, tennis matches, and crocheting boutonnieres and lapel pins. The sports does something for me emotionally, and keeps me company while I do something for the yarn 'de-mangle-y'! LOL...I really like the feeling. And I love that my customers for the custom items do too. I've gotten some GREAT feedback about their items!...Maybe I've finally found my 'niche'! :-)

      Now I have to find some breakfast...and some sleep...and I'll be good! LOL Have a good day, Everybody! :-)
