Boston Red Sox...STRONG!

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151697407216766&set=a.381419756765.168260.39399781765&type=1&theater

      Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox!! :-) Yes...I'm kinda biased, seeing as this is my state of Massachusetts' team!...Although I have to make a confession. A baseball team confession. :-) I used to be a New York Yankees fan...*covering my face with my sleeve*
     In fact, shortly after we moved to Massachusetts, when we went back to Connecticut to visit some friends, we got into a discussion with a gentleman who said: "Uh Oh! Now you're gonna have to become Boston Red Sox fans!" O_O I was annoyed at such an assumption.
     I said: "Why do I have to become a Boston Red Sox fan just because I live in Massachusetts?!...I'm a Dallas Cowboys Football fan....and STILL am!...and I've never lived in Dallas Texas!!!"
     Our friend just laughed....and now I know why! ^_^ It's kinda hard living in such a sports driven area...especially Boston!!...and especially Boston after the bombing back a few months ago!...and not be swept over to that state's team pride!...Although, I have to admit, I still like to watch the Yankees!...and, frankly, any team when the game is good!...(Does that mean that I'm not a 'true' fan?! O.O Could be....I'm good with that!)
     But when the team is good!...and the team is from your state!...WOOHOO!!!...

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151697333266766&set=a.381419756765.168260.39399781765&type=1&theater

      Congratulations 'Big Papi' (David Ortiz) and the Boston Red Sox!! ^_^ It was a wonderful, wacky, exciting, surprising....*add superlatives here*...world series!!

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152028832363092&set=a.407095833091.200467.352689233091&type=1&theater

      And David Ortiz?!......WOW!...'That boy know he can play some ball!!!!' ^_^ ...

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151697407366766&set=a.381419756765.168260.39399781765&type=1&theater

      He deserved the Most Valuable Player award!...for sure!! :-]

      Now...on to my next sport!! LOL Pretty soon it'll be the Australian Open, Wimbledon, the French Open, and the U.S. Open tennis tournaments!!...or basketball (which is just starting), or the football championships, or gymnastics, or horse-back and equestrian trials, etc......You know me!! ^_^
     And in between all of the sports.....CROCHET!...my real sport!! ^_^ I'm Crochet STRONG too!!! ^_^ Have a good day, Everybody!...You too Boston!!! :-) You might wanna try to get some sleep now! :-)))

Boston Red Sox 2013

2013, Boston Red Sox,
once again, you are the best!
You hit and run, stole and slid,
and did it better than the rest!

You stared down pitchers, and non-fans,
knocked balls high, and deep, and long!
You flexed your muscles and our minds,
and showed us all that you 'are' STRONG!

Middle Of The Week 'This' And 'That'!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/150917651/blue-realistic-butterfly-ring-spring?ref=favs_view_5

      Welcome to the middle of the week! Woohoo! ^_^ That's all I got today. It's Wednesday. Tomorrow will be Thursday, and then Friday will follow that. WOOHOO!!! LOL
      I shouldn't be so silly about it, but seriously...how do I talk without complaining. Chat, without ranting about things that annoy me. Or converse, without bringing everybody down?!...Uhhhh...I'll try this!...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/150917651/blue-realistic-butterfly-ring-spring?ref=favs_view_5

      ...Ooooo! A butterfly!......ring! ^_^ Yep! I feel good now. How about you?! ^_^ And to continue the good mood, and not think about the rain and snow we might get here tomorrow....UGH!...how about some cute things I saw on Etsy! :-) ...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/101708326/umbrella-girl-pen-and-ink-illustration?ref=favs_view_7

     Okay...so I'm thinking about the rain and snow 'a LITTLE bit'!! :-)

      But these things are distracting my mind some...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/159480071/wedding-cookies?ref=favs_view_1

      Yes...the thought of cookies shaped like non-conventional things distracts me! What can I say?!.....Cookie......Distraction......same thing!! ^_^

https://www.etsy.com/listing/162742797/sports-cookies?ref=favs_view_3

      I left the sports cookies for last because I wanted to tell you about how desperate I am to look at sports!...I went to bed early last night...it's a long 'itchy' story. Ugh!...but because I did, I was sure I missed the Red Sox game last night! O_O
      So, I was up at a ridiculously early time this morning...mainly because of the itching, but still!!...and I decided to turn the television on and find out who won the game...game 6 of the world series! (baseball)
      Cut...to me channel surfing for an hour, trying to find some baseball game updates...By the way, did you know that if you get up to the high channel numbers on your cable station dial there's a listing of all kinds of sports?! O_O Some of it in languages from all over the world?!...I didn't know that!....But there still was no update for the Red Sox game! O.O
       Yeah!....now I know!!!....There was NO GAME last night!!! UGH!!!...And if the Cardinals don't get off the airport runway tarmac there might not be a game tonight either! LOL *shaking my head* I hope they do!! O_O I need to have something to distract me when I wake up in the middle of the night tonight!! ^_^
      I've said it before, but 'getting old ain't for sissies'!!!!!!!...sleeplessness...menopause....arthritis....memory loss....fading eye-sight....loss of hearing....hair growing in unusual places, and other hair falling out in other places!!...Not to mention that few strands you have left after all of that...turning gray! O_O
      I digress!....let's just all get on with it today, shall we! :-) Me, I'll be getting on with this...

      ...More crocheting! :-) I've been selling a few items this week. I've got to keep the trend going!! :-) ....Okay...have a good one, Everybody!!

Generosity

Generosity
is what the clouds give to the sky;
It's what a tear gives to an eye;
and why 'Spring' growth knows 'Fall' must die.

Generosity
is when abundance can be good;
and when you give more than you should;
because the world's your neighborhood.

Generosity
is what the flower gives to the bee;
It's what the waves give to the sea;

and it's what you all give to me!

A Potato Chip Bag Tutorial For Those Who 'CAN' Eat Just One!

      I don't live there anymore...Georgia, in the southern United States, I mean...but this time of year always makes me think of Georgia. I remember the milder temperatures of September and October, and the way the shadows of the trees danced off of the roads and buildings.
      I get that same feeling when the sun hits my current backyard in just that special kinda way. :-] But unfortunately the sun isn't warming the air in that 'special kinda way' here in Massachusetts right now!....IT'S COLD!!!! LOL
      But I'm not giving weather reports on the blog today ^_^. I'm giving potato chip bag tutorials!! LOL...

      I know...you're saying to yourself: "What????" O_O Let me explain...

      A little while ago hubby saw an interesting episode of "The Chew"...which is a sort of cooking show on television. It was interesting to him because one of the stars of the show, Paula, was showing kitchen tips. And of course now that he considers himself a 'make-shift' chef....Uhhhhh. It's debatable, but whatever! LOL...he was enthralled at tips that could help him out in the kitchen!
      But one of the tips has him now folding every half opened bag he comes in contact with!! LOL...It's a new way to close your half used bag of potato chips (or whatever) so that they won't go stale that fast.
      Here's how it works: You open your large bag of potato chips and, one by one, you eat to your hearts content!...Wait!...I still need to show you the tip. So, you reach into the bag, eat a few, or you grab a fistful, about four ^_^...Then you close the bag back up until the next day!....Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!....O_O Sorry. I digressed!
      Now, in order to close the bag back up, and have it stay closed :-), you fold the top of the bag, from both top end sides, into each other like this...

        You'll have a kind of point...or something close to it...

      Then you turn the folded side of the bag toward you, facing you, and you start rolling a tight fold of the bag away from you, from the point all the way down, until it looks sorta like this...

      When you turn the bag to the other side you'll have two pockets of fold on either side...which you will stick your hand in, and fold back over the side ends...

      What you end up with is a potato chip bag that's totally closed, and that will stand alone without unraveling to expose your dear, dear, leftover potato chips! ^_^

      In fact, it looks almost like a potato chip bag...or whatever kind of bag...with a 'hoodie'! LOL...

      If you haven't done it already, Try It! It's cool!!  ^_^ And I've got all kinds of 'hooded' leftover things in my house to prove it!!! LOL...Now if only they can invent some kind of contraption to make your husband be able to hear you, and watch television, all at the same time!! LOL I'd pay big money for that one! ^_^

      Before I go I wanted to share a different kind of bag...

      It's a great little 'homey' bag to hold your other bags...your plastic kitchen bags! :-) What a great idea!!!...especially for us, because we reuse the plastic grocery store bags as garbage bags. And we have them all over the place, in every crevice of the kitchen right now. ^_^

      How much prettier would it be to have these little 'plastic bag full' LOVE bags, with the expression "Home Is Where Your Story Begins" on the side, hanging in the kitchen! :-)... Hmmm...I wonder if it would hold an empty potato chip bag?! ^_^
         Okay...I'm off to get a Wuglyees boutonniere order wrapped and shipped. YAY! And that's where my story begins today!! :-) ... Have a good day, Everybody!

Down Home

When I say the words "Down Home"
my deep emotions come alive.
My memories of riding in the car,
heading south on I-95.

I pass right on through New Haven,
and the Washington Bridge flies by;
The "New Jersey Turnpike's" traffic
makes me almost want to cry.

But its when North Carolina's
scenes of country life begin
that "Down Home" becomes a feeling
in which I'm comfortable again.

When I'm close to route I-20,
"South Of The Border" is what I see,
and soon I'm "Down Home", feeling Georgia's
southern hospitality.

There are things about the north
that make me happy that I live there,
but the dirt roads of the south
I seem to need like I need air.

People fishing for their supper,
cooking bass and fried catfish;
On Sunday, rocking on the porch
(What's in the north as good as this?!)

From "Down Home" there's 'salmon patties',
'Beanie Weenies', pone and grits,
country music, rock and soul-
everybody's greatest hits.

But I know that what I'm missing
is more than "Down Home" southern pine;
Its the feelings and emotions
of the Georgia in my mind.

It's Hard To Find "CUTE" On An October Monday!

      After an 'interesting' weekend...first of all, why do people call something 'interesting' when they really mean 'not so good!'? ^_^...As I was saying...after an interesting weekend I thought I'd be a good girl today and just share some 'CUTE"!
      Unfortunately, trying to find some 'cute' wasn't that easy on Etsy this morning! O_O The whole 'Activity Feed' was spattered with the 'same old, same old' jewelry (not meaning that it was bad, but meaning that I'd already seen it before), and then consumed by Halloween themed things!...black cats, witches, bats, zombies and monsters! O_O
      Uhhhhh...I DON'T THINK SO! Not on THIS blogpost!!! LOL This blog, and this poetic girl, is all about cute...not gruesome and scary!!!...*cold shiver*...So, I was determined to fish through that activity feed...bit by bit...and find me some CUTE!...And I did! :-) ...

      Cute, right?! ^_^ Okay...I didn't find a 'LOT'of cute this time! But no worries...October is almost over! ^_^ Next month it'll be easier...cuter!...and more autumnal inspired. Or maybe.....*gulp!*....snow inspired! O.O
      Yeah...I said it!...S-N-O-W!!...For some reason, our weather is threatening snow...already!! O_O Thankfully we haven't actually gotten any. But the way the weather people are looking, I fear that it won't be long. I know we had temps in the 20s over the weekend. Definitely low enough for snow! But we just got 'windy'.
      They say we have a cold front and a big change heading our way this week though...so we'll just have to wait and see...Does this mean no more flowers for a while?! O_O Stay Tuned!!! :-) ...And stay tuned for whatever I'll be talking about tomorrow too. :-)) I'll try to keep it 'cute'!...Have a good day, Everybody! :-)

Ode To Flowers

Ode to all loved flowers,
whatever color, shape or form.
You enthrall with sheer delight!
At other times, make my heart warm.

Whether photographed or made,
growing tall out in the yard;
In a vase or porch-side planter,
or just naturally unmarred;

Please know you always make me smile,
and lift my mood when I am down.
The world would be a different place
without a lot of you around!

I Need A Sweater For My Cup Of Coffee?!

      As you, no doubt, have figured out from my lack of much words on the blog the last couple of days, I'm not feeling at my 'tip top' best. I've been having a few health issues that are driving me a bit crazy. So far I'm still breathing though!...so I'm sure they will work themselves out soon.
      It may be just the change in the weather that's doing it to me. Here I was thinking that cooler weather was gonna bring less allergies...and instead, it's just a 'change' of allergies! Ugh! I noticed that every time hubby came back into the house I was starting to sneeze more than usual....?????...when I was suppose to be stopping all allergy symptoms all together! O_O
      The news reporter said something like: "Hang on, you allergy sufferers. You're not completely out of the woods yet! There are some mold spores that are hanging around even  after the first frost. Give them time. They're not done hanging on  just yet!"......UGH!
      Yeah...I KNOW!!!...So, for now, it's me...a box of tissues...soups...lots of water...vitamin C and orange juice...and loads of hot fluids...including coffee!...

      And if I have to fight off cold and mold, I'm thankful to be able to have something to smile about. :-) Did you see the little kitty cats on the cups in the header photo? :-) And the little sweaters for the coffee mugs?! :-)

      Yep! I'm smiling! ^_^ ... I'm also blowing my nose an inordinate amount, and other 'shall remain nameless on this blog' things!!! LOL I'm also taking it slow...resting...and letting nothing but my eyes and ears work. I'm not even working my tongue for actual talking today!! I'm only moving two fingers, and talking out loud in my mind right now, so that I can get this blog post done. LOL Then it's back to 'chillsville' for me! ^_^
      Is this still the weekend?! O.O Anyway!!!...I hope you all have a good rest of it, if it is. LOL

Benches

Wooden, with an indent.
Sturdy, aged by the sun.
A place to rest when you are tired.
A stop when you are on the run.

A slatted back, for resting shoulders,
and cemented to the ground.
A wrought-iron rusted swirly arm-rest,
and a place to put bags down.

A place for you to catch a bus,
or to feed a hungry squirrel.
Where good friends can stop and chat
about the big news of the world.

Alone and beaten by the weather,
chipping paint, long past brand new.
Almost like some people we know,
who are inconspicuous too.

So reliably unnoticed,
all the benches that we pass.
Sitting there, just waiting for us,
if we too run out of gas

Short and Sweet!

     No worries about straining your eyes trying to read my long post this morning. ^_^ It's not that long today. It's just a quick one today because I've got a lot of stuff on my 'plate' to do...and no, I'm not talking about a big breakfast on my plate! ^_^ It's just a fried egg and some noodles. Keeping it light! :-]
      But I wanted to stop and let you know about an Etsy shop I found, one with a bunch of cute throw pillows. The pillow in the header photo is one of them. But there's some really cute ones! An autumn rose...a lighthouse...a city skyline...palm trees on the beach...and many more!
      Otherwise there's not much for me to talk about!....See!....short and sweet! :-) Except for maybe a pair of cute baby shoes...a poem...and a nap. ^_^

      Enjoy your Saturday, Everybody! :-]

No Rhyme Or Reason

I've never written a poem
that didn't have a rolling rhyme.
In my head that's how I see words.
Rhyming lines come every time!

No matter what the subject,
'food', 'crochet', 'hubby's bike'.
In my mind I have to find
a word that sounds alike!

Have I written words on paper
without rhyming every word?!
Yes I have! About my father,
and my backyard hummingbird.

But when I think of poems
I can almost tap my feet...
as if music is now playing,
and I'm rhyming to a beat!

Is this every Poet's way?!
I don't know. I just know ME!
But if I wrote about it,
it would be a rhyming soliloquy!

I'm 'Squirreling' Away Some Time Today!

      Brrrrrrrr!...Even the squirrels in the backyard would trade a hot cup of coffee for their hunting of nuts in this weather!! IT IS COLD!!! O.O Hubby had to chisel frost off of the windshield of the car for the first time this morning. He even got back in the house earlier than normal this morning. I asked why, and he said it was because the clients were in a hurry to get on the van this morning. That cold was scooting them along! ^_^
      So, needless to say, we're not going anywhere cold for our 'virtual' date tonight! :-)) In fact, we may be a couple of squirrels ourselves tonight! ^_^ We're gonna 'squirrel' away some time to spend together, and maybe 'squirrel' away some secret travel plans, and definitely we're gonna 'squirrel' away some food! ^_^ ...

      Who knows whether our travel plans are gonna take us to sunny California, the south of France, the southern United States, or just the sunny side of happy...with a movie about somewhere warm, and ending with us hanging out in our pajamas! LOL...

      Whatever the case, we're gonna be together....calm, full, and happy! :-) ...

      As you can clearly see, my blog is 'theme' based this morning...all about squirrels!...but not because I gave it that much thought. It's because I got an adorable photo from an Etsian yesterday, after I posted her hobo bag here on the blog. She was reading about my little backyard squirrel friend, and wanted to tell me about hers!
      Amy said: "You just reminded me to feed the squirrels (ours are almost tame)!" :-) ... And then she sent me this picture...

 (Photo provided by Amy of TheVintageArtistry)

      ...and said: "He's sitting on my daughter's shoulder. She was at a park and his mama was hit by a car. A while later she could hear the babies crying, so she brought them home and bottle fed them. He's grown now but still stops by to eat almost every day!...Over the years we've probably had babies of any animal you can think of!"
      Cool, right?! ^_^

      Okay...I'm really late getting this post up today, and I still have tons of stuff to do!! O_O Including some crocheting, and 'virtual' date plans....maybe! :-)) ... Have a good day, Everybody!

     Here's a little inspiration for you to get the weekend started off with a "Roar"...hubby's new song he likes to sing. ^_^
Have a good weekend!

Spend some time with your kids,
do the errands you been meaning to do,
do a little grocery shopping,
maybe make a chicken stew.

Organize your messy space,
clean the closets, throw things out,
watch a little mindless T.V.,
and replace the bathroom grout.

Take a walk around the park,
play some board games with your friends,
maybe even cut your hair
(but just a little bit, off the ends).

Take a trip to Grandma's house,
do some gardening in the yard,
give new projects a little finish,
but nothing that might be too hard.

It's the weekend, after all;
It's your week's tail, at a wag;
No need for scurry, hurry, rushing.
No! You want this time to lag!

"I Should've Known He Was Trying To Tell Me Something!"

      Is the time for pretty flowers all over?!...I hope not! O_O But brrrrrrr! It is really cold this morning!...in the 30s! (Fahrenheit)...I guess it's time to turn the furnace up, and pull those covers up!
      I guess I'm gonna have to stop looking out the windows for flowers now. I just have to keep making them for myself! ^_^ ...

      This is one of the coral colored flower boutonnieres I made for my Wuglyees shop yesterday. I put a foldable buttonhole pin on the back of it...

      The other two I made will have a brooch pin on one, and a clutch back on the other. I'm trying to be more flexible about fasteners...

      Anyway I make them though, these flowers aren't gonna be growing outside, or be affected by the cold weather that seems to be setting in around here! ^_^
      I should've known it was gonna be unusually cold this morning when I saw this little guy (below) staring at me from the back yard!...

      What a cutie! ^_^

      He was just sitting up on his hind legs, looking like he was waiting for someone to serve him dinner! LOL And he sat there for the longest time too!...You can't really see it in the photos, but he had a tuft of white under his chin that made it look like he was wearing a bib. LOL

      This little squirrel must've been trying to stop and tell me something while he was taking a break from storing all of those nuts for winter!!...Brrrr! LOL I wish I had been more observant. Then I wouldn't have woken up freezing this morning, because I only had a sheet covering me!! O_O You never saw somebody grab a heavy blanket so fast!!!
      Now it's time to get me a bite to eat, sip on some hot green tea, and get my 'grab bag' full of 'To Do' crocheting ready to go! :-) ...

      This isn't the bag my thread is in (above ^_^) but I sure wish it was!!! :-)

      And this isn't thread either (below)...

      ...but they 'are' gonna be used 'with' my thread!...to make some clutch back flower boutonnieres! :-) I just ordered them this morning. So, what is your day looking like?!...beading?...crocheting?...crafting?....reading?....or otherwise working?! :-) Whatever it is...Have A Good Day, Everybody!! :-)

Animals Everywhere

There are animals everywhere,
out-numbering husbands, kids and wives.
Do you see them when you travel?
Do you have some in your lives?

The chickens in the yard
step and jut their necks in stride;
Cackling birdie conversation
as you throw seed side to side.

Horses gallop down the hill,
through the field outside the gate;
Along the beach edge of the water
their strong legs will dominate.

All their waking hours
kittens tumble, jump and leap;
Then they curl up anywhere,
purr and breathe a peaceful sleep.

Baby chicks will follow
right behind their Mama's wings.
But they sometimes get distracted,
and their Mama's "Cluck!" then rings.

Doggies know their station.
They're secure in who they are.
They unguardedly will love you.
Just as quick, they'll chase a car.

There's many things that we can learn
by just watching what they do.
But let's not imitate their aggression,
and their need to balk and chew.

Let's recognize where we're alike.
Both of our constant needs for love,
And there is food, shelter, attention,
and much more we could speak of.

Yes, there are animals everywhere,
out-numbering husbands, kids and wives.
Giving lessons by example,
and so much meaning to our lives.
