Some of you bloggers are finding wonderful things to do on your weekends. Ottos mom and dad, from the blog TidbitsParenting, took him to the Oregon coast for a little day out at the beach last weekend! (in the header photo)...And except for the fact that mom was having a little 'pre-gall stone attack' situation going on, and the weather was freezing cold and windy, it was a great day!! ^_^
Joyce, of the blog A Perfect Beginning, while in Wisconsin, went to a Fish Boil! And not only did they eat good there, but they enjoyed beautiful sunsets too!
What did I do with my weekend you ask?!....I paid some bills, watched some old movies, did some reading (magazines...my latest book selection wasn't at the library), cleared out some leftovers from the fridge...Yeah! I ate it, okay!! ^_^...and I made up my own yarn material for my latest crochet project!
I had some bits and pieces of threads just hanging around in a bag, and I was determined that they were NOT going to waste!! So, as I want to make another Circle Hoodie type scarf for my Wuglyees shop, I figured these threads would come in handy...
...black, green, gold and white (with a little gold thread running through it)...
I laid all of these threads next to each other, along with some soft, gray, 'Caron Simply Soft yarn' I've been trying to figure out what to do with....
I've done this before with a lot of my scarves in my Wuglyees shop. That's why a lot of them are 'one of a kinds'. I wouldn't be able to duplicate them if I wanted to, not knowing exactly which yarns or threads I used for which scarf! :-))
I crocheted a sample up, to see if it was gonna look okay.
And yeah, it was.......O-kay.....but it still didn't 'POP'!! It needed at least one more piece of yarn to give it some heft....But what color?!.....I tried a piece of red yarn, and crocheted up a sample piece...
I liked the colors, but I couldn't see a whole circle scarf in these colors...So, I decided to try a plain soft white yarn thread.
PERFECT!!! :-) ... All I had to do then was crochet a base piece in the right width, and get to crocheting!
You'll have to take my word for the fact that the pictures don't do it justice. It looks a lot richer and more interesting in person. Of course you'll have to take into account too that I created it, so what else would I say?!! ^_^
All weekend this is what I've been doing....
Just working away and working away!!
This is how far along it is already...
By the time I finish, who knows what all kind of colors is gonna be in here!!! ^_^ I'm just using up my leftover threads!....I ran out of the green. Now I'm crocheting a royal blue thread there instead! :-) I already decided what it's name will be when I'm done.....The 'Wicky Wacky Mitchy Matchy Thread Scarf'!! ^_^
Maybe that's why I'm having a hard time getting very many people to enter my Giveaways!! LOL Everybody knows I can crochet, but they don't know what in the world I 'will' crochet!!!! ^_^
WHATEVER People!!!! ^_^ ... Speaking of Giveaways, today is August 15th! The day for the drawing of the mid-month Giveaway is here!...I shook up the mounds and mounds of pieces of paper that I put each and every one of the entrant's names on...
...Okay, so there was only about 9 or 10 pieces of paper. ^_^ I still had to shake 'em up!!! And when I did, and then drew out the name, it was.....
...Congratulations Alittlesprite!!! Just send me an email HERE, with your address, and I'll get the pocketbook to you in the mail right away! :-)
In other quick updates, it's still raining in Massachusetts. And I mean RAINING!!! :-( We're due to get a few thunderstorms later today. It's suppose to stop raining mid-week, and then more rain at the end of the week!! Grrrr! Maybe I'd do better with things if I was a weatherman...well, weather-'girl'...instead of a crocheter/poet/blog writer!! LOL
Also, my mother-in-law is about to sell her house. Her husband went to the hospital, and then into a facility to rehab him. He's been in the facility for a while now, and has recently been diagnosed with dementia, and a few other issues. :-( My mother-in-law has been all by herself in the house now for months, except for the kids staying with her at different times.
She finally decided that it's time to get into a smaller, more secure, place. She hasn't totally given up on the idea that he may come home at some point, but she now knows that even if he does, he'll need around the clock care. And she, with her own issues to deal with, won't be able to take care of him and the house on her own...Isn't getting older fun?!....NOT!!
And in happy news, our old washing machine...the one that doesn't sing ^_^...is going to go to a new home today! A friend of ours who has been going to the laundromat, and spending ridiculous amounts of time and money there every week, is now going to have our 'baby' as a companion...for however long it lasts! :-)
It was a really reliable washing machine for us, for the most part. It was just not large enough for our needs. So, now, it'll be washing and cleaning up a storm at our friend's house!...I've never seen anyone so excited about a used washer! Well...except for us when we got it!! ^_^
Oh Yeah, one other bit of news.....there is now a 'full-on' battle going on for the hummingbird feeder!! O_0 The wasps are battling the hornets, and as of this weekend, two hummingbird are chasing and battling each other for territorial rights too!!......*shaking my head*......Whose idea was this hummingbird feeder anyway?!!....Oh yeah!
Hopefully the fighting will be over after they've all been beat to within an inch of their lives by the rain! When it stops, I'll let you know whose still got some fight in 'em...besides me that is!! ^_^
Monday, Monday, Monday
Here comes another Monday!
Your frantic work week has begun!
Say goodbye to 'Take It Easy',
and all those things you haven't done.
Four more week days are ahead,
seeming like they'll never end.
But just think, before you know it,
"weekend" will be round again.
Lift your attention, all you mothers;
Week day workers, "Out The Door!"
Time to file, and diaper babies,
walk and scrape things off the floor.
Here comes another Monday!
Whether you want it to, or not!
Say goodbye to 'Take It Easy'.
You've got things to do...a lot!
Monday, Monday, Monday!
Why do you have to come so fast?!
And you stay so long! Why can't
the weekend 'Take It Easy' last?!

Backyard A Go-Go.....A Giveaway!!
I didn't know what I should use as my header photo today because hubby took so many pretty shots of the backyard and the flowers. What do you think about the choice I made?! :-) I figured I couldn't possibly go wrong with a yellow...cheery...flower! That's why I'm going to just throw them all throughout this post, while I talk too! ^_^ {Hey! It's not an ant!...Be thankful!! ^_^}
Speaking of which, we're experimenting on an ant solution. An ant solution that came to mind by accident...Hubby took the feeder down to clean it and replace it with new nectar (on the off chance that a hummingbird might come by to sip). But he left the domed ant guard there. We noticed that the ants were still coming...per usual...and going all around the dome, and down to the hook that used to lead to the feeder.
After about an hour we noticed that they were in their usual 'mark-the-territory' mode {this may be too much information for some of you who get creeped out by ants anyway, so don't read the rest of the parenthesis box if you don't want to know how they do this!.................They were flicking their backsides up and down and then dragging it all over the ant guard as they were crawling around}
Then we noticed that there were becoming fewer and fewer ants, and that the ones coming up to the feeder...well, the ant guard...would get to the top hook (the one that was on the actual tree branch), flick around, and then go back in the same direction! They wouldn't go down the hook!...Hmmmm....did the ants 'mark' this area as a 'no-show- zone?!
So, we decided to test it to see. We're not going to hang the actual feeder back there until tomorrow. We're gonna watch it today to see if any more ants come. {A few did yesterday. We could tell that they were like scouts. They came in twos, crawled around, [checking to see if anything had changed we think] and then disappeared just as quickly!
I've been occasionally checking out the window this morning (for a couple of hours now) and I haven't seen one ant on the branch!! :-) They may have actually 'marked' themselves right out of a good hunting ground!......*Bwah ha ha ha ha!!!!* I'm laughing, but we'll see how smart these ants actually are after the feeder goes back up today!
I can tell you, much to my chagrin, that my hummingbirds haven't shown themselves to be as smart as the ants about this situation! They still come on occasion, with their heads flicking back and forth, and their wings beating faster than ever....hovering in the spot where the feeder USED to be!!...*smh* They look so confused, hovering there in mid-air with the ant guard over their heads. ^_^ "Be patient little birdies! We're conducting an experiment over here!!" LOL
Anyway......everything else in the backyard is as calm as ever....{GIVEAWAY WINNER announcement coming up in a minute!}....
In fact, although most of the pretty flowers are growing close to the house in hubby's 'happy growing place', there's some pretty flowers growing along the edge of the woods too!...Can you see it?!
Look close....in the middle of the photo. See that bit of orange?!
Isn't it pretty?! :-) And hubby saw some buds for some others coming up too!! How cool is that?!....Who planted these?! {Maybe some animals with too much in their suitcase on one of their long trips! LOL}
He also took a picture of this while he was out there......
^_^ Ummmmm.....Okay, so his eye is not always COMPLETELY discerning!! LOL I looked at it and it reminded me of some boogieing I used to do back in my 'GoingTo-A-Go-Go' days!!! ^_^ It looks like it's been shaking!!!!
Speaking of shaking......{you like that segway?! (immediate transition to the next thing) LOL}...I've been shaking up a certain Giveaway box this morning too!....Then I shook it up again...{Wish I had some music to go with all this shaking! LOL}...and then...
CONGRATULATIONS Bee Happy!!!! You're the winner of the red crochet hat!! :-) Ah yes! Another one of my little babies going on an over-seas trip! :-) {Just email me your address and I'll get it in the mail for you right away!}
The new GIVEAWAY will be posted tomorrow. You all can influence my decision on this one too! What would you like to see me GIVEAWAY?!...Another throw blanket, another hat, a crochet brooch or necklace, a funky-colored pocketbook (I'm considering taking them out of my shop), etc...Let me know. I'm open to suggestions...if I get enough of them!! ^_^
Okay....a little boogieing....
Oh Yeah!!!
Only thing left is a poem, right?! :-)
Go-Go A Dancing
Oh! I remember dancing
late into the night.
Boogying and shaking
up until the morning light!
Nothing like some music
to take your cares away.
And while you're there a-shaking,
there your problems all will lay.
It's a great relief
to be dancing all around.
Smiling as you shimmy
with your pound-age going down!
Going to a go-go,
hip a-snapping. Finger too.
If you hear the music
there is nothing else to do!
Have a good weekend everybody!! :-)
