Thanks For The Time, Storm Titan!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/179707518/spring-flowers-boot-series-print-or?ref=favs_view_3

Okay...tell the truth. If you watched television last night, were you team 'Downton Abbey' or team 'Oscars'?! ^_^ ... Me?!...I peeped at the Oscars while hubby was giving me my nightly leg rub, and then I went to sleep! LOL I haven't seen very many movies at all this year, so I wouldn't have recognized any of the nominees anyway. And I knew I would fall asleep before 'Downton Abbey' ended, so I didn't even turn the television to that channel. I decided to wait to look at it today...'OnDemand'. (A cable service recorded programming line-up). ^_^
Thanks to my morning news though, I know who won what on the Oscars already. So there's no need to look at the replay of the Oscars...Besides, I didn't recognize the names of the winners...except for Matthew McConaughey...But I didn't see the movie he was in either, soooooo....! O_O
So, what do I talk about this morning?!...Uhhhhh...How about the fact that 'Storm Titan', the storm that was suppose to be bringing us 6 inches to a foot of ice and snow today...the storm that I changed my doctor's appointment for! Ugh!...totally 'dissed' us!! O_O It now isn't even gonna reach us!!
I shouldn't be mad about it, right?!...Well, I am!!! Grrr!...The reason is because hubby had taken the day off from work for my doctor's appointment, and we had made some other plans for today also, and now....because of that storm's diversion everything has changed!! And I'm gonna have to reschedule everything to do it again next week! Ugh!

"Just move on, Wug!"...Okay. Okay!! ^_^

I'll take the rest of the post to share a few things I'm loving right now! :-) Starting with my friend Cindy's new necklace!!...

      It's just gorgeous!!!!

And I don't know the rest of these Etsians personally (below), but I sure know their work!...and it's GOOD!! :-) Take a look!...

The last painting reminded me of what me and hubby could be doing on one of our Friday 'virtual date nights' or...what we could've been doing today...if not for 'Storm Titan' flipping the script on us! Grrrr!...Okay. Okay!!!!...Moving on! LOL
On my Monday with nothing scheduled to do, I'm gonna crochet....eat.....watch 'Downton Abbey'.....and plan a doctor's appointment outing for next week! :-) I hear that the temperatures could be in the 70s by then!!...In other words, it could be a better outing next week than it would've been this week!! ^_^ And I don't have anything, but time!!... Yep! I somehow always find the 'good news' in things!! ^_^ Have a good week, Everybody! ♥

Minutes In A Year

524,160-All together,
make up all the minutes in a year.
124,800-At least-spent working
in a job, insecurely stressed with fear.

175,200 minutes, spent sleeping.
(Or, at least, they say that's how many you should get.)
5,475 minutes, taking showers.
(An awful lot of time spent being soaking wet!)

87,600 minutes, spent eating.
(Estimated at 240 a day.)
The same amount is spent watching T.V.-
feeding your mind on what other people have to say.

5,600 minutes, spent in worship,
with another 21,840 preparing for it.
(That doesn't seem like a lot of minutes to consider,
when you think of all the wholesome benefit.)

That leaves 6,045 little minutes
to ponder ways to show your degree of love;
To show you care about the people around you,
and to appreciate all the minutes from above!

Nice Try, "Life"!

You've probably heard a lot of the expressions like..."Life is just a bowl of cherries"...or..."Life is what you make it"...or..."Life is short". They're all true expressions, depending on how you look at life...which for me, usually, is pretty positively. But lately "life" has been coming at me full force and 'on-the-real'! It feels like it's trying to take me out! It's certainly getting in a few blows!
But, "Nice Try, Life!"... I'm not letting you take away my good outlook. I'm gonna find ways to find the "spice in life" because I still know that "Life is good"! Mentally I'm trying to get a "new lease on life"... and pretty soon I'll be back to my positively out-looking self! and "For the life of me" I won't be able to remember all of the hard knocks you were trying to give me! ^_^ Is that enough "Life" idioms?!
Positivity, here I come again!!...Starting with the cute little warm and cozy pom pom laden eggs in the header photo! :-) How could anyone look at them and not smile?!...I'm getting some eggs warmed up for me right now too...in a frying pan...right next to some fried catfish and hash brown casserole! ^_^

I may even see if I can get me a cozy cup of coffee to go with them! :-) Can you feel the positive washing over me?! '-'

This little coffee cozy gave me a positive idea about my own future hand crocheted water bottle cozies too...I think they should have an interesting button. Not just a drawstring. I think that button looks so cool!

And while I'm on the subject of tweaking my crocheted projects for more positiveness, why didn't I think of doing this...

What a great idea! The flower makes it look so much more pulled together, and sophisticated...And I like that she used two colors side by side and then took them over into the design of the flower! Bravo!...Why didn't I think of this?! O_O I mean I crochet scarves all the time, and you KNOW how much I love a crochet flower...on everything!!!!...Oh Well, she beat me to it. 'Good-on-ya'! ^_^

I might've been slightly distracted by 'life'. It's been 'trying to take the life outta me'! LOL...{Sorry. I still had a couple of 'life' idioms in me! ^_^}...But, try as it might, I still have some life in me! Life is not hanging me out to dry just yet!! ^_^ ...

I've been getting a bit of sleep. I'm even using a monitor C-Pap machine for a week or two, to see if my sleep....or lack of sleep...issues have anything to do the machine. Time will tell!...I can also report that my friend that just got the dire Cancer diagnosis is doing better after her surgery. She's up, eating solid food, and, although her white blood count is dropping a bit, she's still in a positive state of mind looking forward!...If she can be.....so can I!!! "While there's life, there's hope!"

So what if life makes you take to your bed on occasion...It's just for rejuvenation purposes, right?!! ^_^ ... Maybe that's where this idea came from...

This is the project that I'm working on right now, that I was sharing with you yesterday. And now I can tell you what it is....or rather what's it's gonna be!...

       ...Patchwork Bedroom Slippers! :-)

It's a vintage pattern that I've had for years. I've been saying I was gonna make them for-ever!...I wanna make them, not because I absolutely NEED a pair of patchwork slippers, but because I knew they would be challenging....and they sure are!
I had to make stiff soles for the bottoms of them, and make a soft lining for the inside of them. Now I'm crocheting all of the pieces that will have to be configured and then sewn onto the outside of the lining! O_O ...Why do I do this kinda stuff to myself?!....Remember the Yo Yo bag?!....Oh Well, I guess "That's Life!" Ha! Ha!

So anyway!....While life in the Wug household "is" moving at a slower pace these days...

...it is still moving!...and in a positive direction too!...I hope it's going the same way in your households...I know, it sounds all introspective and thought out this morning, but it's not. It's just life. :-) Have a good one, Everybody!

What A Colorful, Spicy 'Date Night' Destination!

I must admit that, before this 'virtual' trip to South Asia, whenever I would hear the name of the particular country we visited, India, I would think of only two things...hot and spicy seasoned food, and colorful fabrics...
...(check out all of the other beautiful Indian fabrics in the husband and wife Etsy shop, RaajMa to see what I mean).
And frankly, knowing about the spices and the colorful fabrics was enough for me to know that this was a country I wanted to know more about! So, 'on' the 'Friday Date Night' list it went! :-)
Unfortunately it maybe should have went on the 'Date Night' list at a time when my stomach hadn't been giving me problems all day, and when hubby wasn't working a very long day at work (because it was the last day before his vacation from work)! ^_^
But you know what?! Sometimes you have to make the best of the time you have together. :-) So, for this trip, that's what we did. And we decided that once we got there we wouldn't do a lot of activities. ....So, we just got on the plane and headed to India
Once we landed at the Mumbai Airport...
...it was just a matter of finding out the lay of the land, and hopping a bus in Mumbai...for some sight-seeing! :-)
And oh, what a great country to be in if you wanna do some sight-seeing!..Especially in Mumbai! :-]
Along the way we learned a few things...Like the fact that India is the second most populous country, with over 1.2 billion people...And that,...which I love!,...it has water, water everywhere! The Indian ocean on the south, the Arabian sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east!
We also found out that four of the world's major religions originated in India...and that it's home to a diversity of wildlife in a variety of protected habitats!...Awww! A country that protects it's animals. :-)
Just riding around, you can see some really breath-taking sights. Bridges....the water thing again! ^_^
And even though, like many other countries, it faces mass poverty...
     ...it also has mass beauty!...
...including it's beautiful architecture. The Taj Mahal being a noted example...
Hubby and I have another favorite beautiful Bengali love....
...The Bengal Tiger. :-)...We heard somewhere long ago that they mate for life. Now we have calendars, post-cards and photos of Bengal tigers all over our house...for inspiration! ^_^ ...Shush!! We know it might not be true! We're choosing, in this case, to believe the hype!! ^_^

Now, Did you know that the board game of chess is commonly held to have originated in India?!...In fact, I was surprised at what a sporty country India is!...especially it's love of Cricket...

Oh Yeah, Cricket in India is another sporting adventure I need to find out more about!...But, interestingly, Cricket isn't the country's official national sport! Field Hockey is!
Now, as far as food is concerned...and I'm always concerned about the food!...^_^...Indian cuisine is best known for it's delicate use of herbs and spices (see the Indian herbs and spices in the header photo). In fact, many spices consumed worldwide are originally native to the Indian subcontinent!...And chili pepper is widely used...
And I love chili peppers...cayenne...hot sauce...jalepenos.....ANYTHING hot!.....usually!....But "Mr. Chili Pepper, I ain't touching you on this trip!!!! I'm having too many issues with my stomach right now!....But...*kissing the chili pepper on the stem*....I'll be back!" :-)
Indian cuisine is also known for it's tandoori grilling techniques. You can see a chef doing some cooking in the clay oven Tandoor here...
But this trip, we stuck to the lentils... :-]
Ghee is something else that's widely used in cooking there. I'll have to find out more about this class of clarified butter on another trip. You can check it out HERE if you like.
And after you get through exploring the food, you have to explore the music, right?!...And when the music is coupled with dancing, like it is with Bollywood, it's really something to explore!!
We checked some of it out.....But it just made us more tired! LOL This "So You Think You Can Dance" number was fun to watch though! :-)

We're back from our trip, still tired this morning. But we're about to get some breakfast...and a cup of coffee for me! {I think I might've started something with this coffee thing! O_0} :-) ...Thankfully we have all day to try to recuperate from the trip,...and from the week! But this upcoming week has a lot of stuff planned to do in it too! There's never enough time...no matter how much time you have...it seems!
Yesterday, while I was getting ready for the trip, I did a little crocheting. Well...a lot of crocheting!...I finished a circle scarf. Very colorful!...I'll show it to you tomorrow! :-)
By the way, the winner of the Giveaway is...
Dale of Savvy Spice blog...Congratulations Dale!! :-) Just go to my profile above, find my email link, and send me your address info, and tell me which one of the scarves you want. I'll get it right out to you! :-)
Okay, Have a good weekend everybody!! What did you do for your Friday nights?! I'd love to know! :-)

Tag Sale Accident

All things can't stay the same forever, right?! That's what I keep saying to myself, over and over, now that our 'Old Faithful' is definitely not going to be the same anymore.
She's obviously not a NEW car. She's been our only 'baby'...vehicle-wise...for quite a while. She rode nice, took the road bumps with a ease that would make even Humpty-Dumpty smile! :-) I'm talking about it as if it died or something! But it didn't die. Although there was an attempted murder! LOL
Hubby did all of his errands this past weekend, came back home and was about to relax, and then said: "Oh No! I forgot...(can't remember what he forgot and had to go back out to get)...! I'll be right back." He took the 'baby'.
It looked perfectly fine when he left...Then, about 20 minutes later, I got a phone call. He was standing in the middle of the road carrying on a conversation with me and with some lady whose voice I didn't recognize. "I had an accident." He said, in the saddest voice you ever heard. I inquired if he and everybody else were okay, and he assured me they were fine.
The people around the way were having a big Tag Sale, with cars coming and going, and backing in and pulling out. It was right on a corner that had a stop sign that was being hidden by a large Van with tinted windows that you couldn't see through. The lady went through the stop sign, and couldn't see around ,or through, the windows of the Van, and hubby didn't see her at all until...BLAM!!!
Our poor little 'baby' took one right across the chin, so to speak,...
...and now she's in sore need of a face-lift...AT LEAST!!
So, it's off to the appraiser today, to see how much time and money is going to have to go into this patch job...Somehow I know though that no matter how much it costs, our 'baby' is never going to be the same. No matter how small the accident seems to be, (and I've been in a few of them over the years), and no matter how little the damage appears to be, somehow the cars never ride exactly the same again. It's as if their personality jumps out of the car right before the crash, looks at the car afterward and says: "Nah! I don't want to be apart of you ever again!" Ha! Ha!
   My 'baby'...
...an attempted "car" murderer, a distracted Tag Saler, got her!! *Deep breath*....I'm now going to think good thoughts. Maybe it won't go the way of all the other cars that have been in accidents! Maybe a little spit and polish and it will be just fine!!...Can you see the fake smile?!...All things can't stay the same forever!! Too bad too!!!...Moving on.....
At least I have this to look at.
My friend's mom came from out of State. She was wearing this necklace that she had bought from my shop a while ago. It looked so pretty with the dress she was wearing!! She said that she had worn this dress many times in the past and no one had said a thing, but when she wore it with this necklace she got all kinds of complements, and everybody wanted to know where she got the necklace! YAY!!! It's not my 'UN-accidented'  car, but it IS something to smile about again!!! :-))
