I was racking my brain the last few days about what to offer as the next Giveaway. I could give away a scarf. I've got tons of them here in the house!...I could give away a brooch flower, a necklace, a hat. I've got tons of those too! And if you've been following my blog for a while you KNOW I've got afghans and blankets, and my husband WANTS me to give them away so he can have more space! LOL
Speaking of which, I gave away a blanket recently and it got to it's new home!! She sent me, Elle The Heiress, this photo on Twitter last night...(where people were being much nicer with their words, I might add)...
...She said: "There's a sleeping toddler under that pile of blanket". Ha! Ha! I told her I couldn't see the toddler, but I could see that my 'Baby' is getting some use and that makes me very happy! :-]
So anyway, I had to figure out what to give away this time. I decided to give away one of my poems on pretty paper! In the header photo you can see an example of what I mean. The poem will be ANY one of my poems you'd like, as long as it's no more than 5 stanzas...like in the header photo.
You can find my poems at the end of every one of my posts on this blog. So if you have a favorite that you'd like, just let me know which one it is!...I'll date it, and sign it,...and if possible to send it to your area...I'll put it in a frame too! :-)
For any winner who doesn't have a preference, I'll send the "Reasons To Smile" poem that's at the bottom of THIS POST...The drawing for this Giveaway will be on March 15, 2011. As before, all you need to do to enter is FOLLOW this blog and make a COMMENT below! You can have an extra entry every day, with your comments. One per day...Okay, moving on!
Last night, on the Public Television Channel here, PBS, they had The Motown Sound-In Performance at the White House. I never had so much fun!! I'm thankful that it was only an hour. I was giddy and tired from boogieing, and my face muscles were hurting from just smiling! :-) Me and hubby danced and sang to our hearts content, while Smokey Robinson, Jamie Foxx, Natasha Bedingfield, Jordan Sparks, Mary Wells, Cheryl Crow, the Jonas Brothers, and more sang all of the Motown great songs of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Temptations, The Supremes, and Curtis Mayfield. We had a ball!!! ^_^
And while I listened, danced, and tweeted, I was finishing my Purple CROCHET Slouch hat!!! Yep! it's DONE! :-)
It came out pretty good I think!...Shequita just HAD to get her head into the picture!! LOL
It does have one condition issue I still have to kinda work out with the pattern though. See how the back of the hat looks...
Interesting, huh?!...Actually, call me crazy, but I like this look!!...The part I don't like is that if you put your fingers all the way into the hat...
...there's holes where they can come out!!! LOL What am I going to do with these?! ^_^ I've got to figure out how to do the pattern so that the openings aren't left. They go around the center in a perfect circle...*sigh*...back to the drawing board on this part!
Maybe I can market it as a hat with air conditioning!! Or a place for your dread locks to be exposed one braid at a time! Or put a thick draw string through the holes and tie a big bow off of the back of it!! LOL I don't know....I don't know. I'll figure out something though! Just give me some time!! ^_^
In the meantime, what will I do with this prototype?! Any suggestions?! :-]
Before I go, I want to share with you a smile I got in the mail yesterday, from far away....
...Are you smiling now too?!...I love mail. And mail with nice words AND a flower?! A definite smile-producer!! I love my friends! :-)
Ooooo! Mail!!!
I love to hear the sound
of when ribbons hit the ground,
when ripped from a envelope, brown,
brought by the mailman, bound.
I get excited and act a clown,
after seeing it all unwound.
Oooo! A package from out of town!
Well, did you expect a frown?!

Pistachio Hats, Custom Orders, and.....Congratulations! You've won!!!
Well, as you can see, the Pistachio green hat is done. I wanted to show you a picture of it on my model, out in the backyard. But the weather was not cooperating. It got dark really early because of the storm that was barreling down on us. I can't have my "babies" out in the pouring rain, so....Oh Well!
You'll just have to imagine what it will look like on someone's head...for now. I'll get the pictures of it actually being worn later. Hopefully before I list it in my Wuglyees shop for sale.
I got the pattern for this hat from the free pattern section at LionBrand.com. It was kinda easy working it, considering the pretty difficult looking detailing. (It has 3 rows of treble stitches on the brim section.)
I love how the crocheted chain cord is laced through it to make a nice bow too.
Put your hair down, and a cute pair of hoop earrings on, and this hat will just come to life!...But guess what?! *Teehee*....I still wasn't sick of the Pistachio.....I'm sorry. ^_^
I made another hat! Remember the Razzle Dazzle yarn from this post?! Well, I put a strand of Razzle Dazzle and a strand of Pistachio green together and crocheted this hat.
It's a bit warmer than the plain Pistachio one. And a bit more colorful! What do you think?!
I still have to crochet the tie cord to go thrugh the brim section...or maybe I'll make a flower for it. Decisions, decisions! {As if you care anymore at this point, right?! I can hear you yelling at the computer now: "GET OVER THE PISTACHIO ALREADY, LADY!!!" ...^_^ Okay, okay!! Stop yelling!...Moving on!}
* Insert Big Drum Roll here * I went to the box of all of your names. {Every time you've commented over the last few days I have been putting your names in the Giveaway Box!} I put the box above my head a little and shook it up....and then I shook it up some more! Then I pulled out the folded 4 square paper, unfolded it and looked. Checked to make sure they were a follower. They were! And...THE WINNER of my baby blanket is...........Cathy!!! Congratulations Cathy!! I emailed you for your address. As soon as I receive it, my little "baby" (for someone else's baby) will be on it's way to you!!
The next giveaway starts immediately. Same rules apply...You have to comment, and you have to be a follower of this blog. The next drawing will be on November 1, 2010. As the day draws closer I'll tell you what the giveaway gift will be. Got any preferences?! ;-)
Hey! I got some quick news too! I got another crochet request last night. This time for some fingerless gloves! It's going to take all of my creative brain power this time too I think, because they have a drawing of what they want. I have to try to recreate the drawing of some gloves they used to have. I'm gonna be working on that later today. I hope I can do it. I'll keep you posted. :-/
AND Look what I got in the mail yesterday!!
Do you remember this button from the post I did on laughter?! Well she sent it to me!!! :-) I love it!!
The least I can do is point you in the direction of her IAMAGIGGLEBOT Etsy shop as a "Thank You"!! Trust me...You won't be sorry you visited it!! :-) ... Makes me love getting mail even more than I already love getting mail!! ^_^
