I was racking my brain the last few days about what to offer as the next Giveaway. I could give away a scarf. I've got tons of them here in the house!...I could give away a brooch flower, a necklace, a hat. I've got tons of those too! And if you've been following my blog for a while you KNOW I've got afghans and blankets, and my husband WANTS me to give them away so he can have more space! LOL
Speaking of which, I gave away a blanket recently and it got to it's new home!! She sent me, Elle The Heiress, this photo on Twitter last night...(where people were being much nicer with their words, I might add)...
...She said: "There's a sleeping toddler under that pile of blanket". Ha! Ha! I told her I couldn't see the toddler, but I could see that my 'Baby' is getting some use and that makes me very happy! :-]
So anyway, I had to figure out what to give away this time. I decided to give away one of my poems on pretty paper! In the header photo you can see an example of what I mean. The poem will be ANY one of my poems you'd like, as long as it's no more than 5 stanzas...like in the header photo.
You can find my poems at the end of every one of my posts on this blog. So if you have a favorite that you'd like, just let me know which one it is!...I'll date it, and sign it,...and if possible to send it to your area...I'll put it in a frame too! :-)
For any winner who doesn't have a preference, I'll send the "Reasons To Smile" poem that's at the bottom of THIS POST...The drawing for this Giveaway will be on March 15, 2011. As before, all you need to do to enter is FOLLOW this blog and make a COMMENT below! You can have an extra entry every day, with your comments. One per day...Okay, moving on!
Last night, on the Public Television Channel here, PBS, they had The Motown Sound-In Performance at the White House. I never had so much fun!! I'm thankful that it was only an hour. I was giddy and tired from boogieing, and my face muscles were hurting from just smiling! :-) Me and hubby danced and sang to our hearts content, while Smokey Robinson, Jamie Foxx, Natasha Bedingfield, Jordan Sparks, Mary Wells, Cheryl Crow, the Jonas Brothers, and more sang all of the Motown great songs of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Temptations, The Supremes, and Curtis Mayfield. We had a ball!!! ^_^
And while I listened, danced, and tweeted, I was finishing my Purple CROCHET Slouch hat!!! Yep! it's DONE! :-)
It came out pretty good I think!...Shequita just HAD to get her head into the picture!! LOL
It does have one condition issue I still have to kinda work out with the pattern though. See how the back of the hat looks...
Interesting, huh?!...Actually, call me crazy, but I like this look!!...The part I don't like is that if you put your fingers all the way into the hat...
...there's holes where they can come out!!! LOL What am I going to do with these?! ^_^ I've got to figure out how to do the pattern so that the openings aren't left. They go around the center in a perfect circle...*sigh*...back to the drawing board on this part!
Maybe I can market it as a hat with air conditioning!! Or a place for your dread locks to be exposed one braid at a time! Or put a thick draw string through the holes and tie a big bow off of the back of it!! LOL I don't know....I don't know. I'll figure out something though! Just give me some time!! ^_^
In the meantime, what will I do with this prototype?! Any suggestions?! :-]
Before I go, I want to share with you a smile I got in the mail yesterday, from far away....
...Are you smiling now too?!...I love mail. And mail with nice words AND a flower?! A definite smile-producer!! I love my friends! :-)
Ooooo! Mail!!!
I love to hear the sound
of when ribbons hit the ground,
when ripped from a envelope, brown,
brought by the mailman, bound.
I get excited and act a clown,
after seeing it all unwound.
Oooo! A package from out of town!
Well, did you expect a frown?!
Good morning Wug! Love the hat! It looks so soft and comfy! I don't know what to say about the holes.....but I really don't think that's a huge issue, do you?
ReplyDeleteNice poem too and the card is very sweet!
So nice to know your blanket is comforting that toddler , even tho we can only see a bump :-) lol
ReplyDeleteI like that hat with air conditioning idea! Something different!
I also went nuts about motown at the white house....soooo good! That's Music!
As for your poems? Ummm...they are like chips, how can you have just one? :-)
Enjoy your day!
Gigi
ahhh...i couldn't see the little baby underneath you little blanket either but what a lovely thrill that must have given you ;-)) I love the hat and im sure you can't see the holes when its on i wouldn't have noticed until you pointed them out. Have a lovely day,dee x
ReplyDeleteHmm... If the holes arent very big I would just leave them. I do love the hat :)
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon...love your crafts..a poem is a lovely Giveaway idea..put me in the melting pot...Brenda/SunflowerTouchSupply...on etsy...
ReplyDeleteCinLynn, Oh! You like it too?! Truth is, you can't SEE the holes...until you put your hand down into the hat. And the suede is so warm I don't think warmth would be an issue either...But that's me! LOL Most people probably would prefer not to have holes in their hat! ^_^
ReplyDeletemidwestmermaid, *Teehee*...I know, huh, about the toddler bump. ^_^ I thought it was so sweet that she showed it to me!! I love to see my 'babies' being loved. LOL...Maybe I should market the hat as the first hat with air conditioning vents, huh?! ^_^...And you're right about the Motown music!! Oh! So fun!!!...Lastly, you're the first person to ever compare my poems to chips!! LOL I'm strangely humbled by that! Thank you! :-)
ReplyDeletedelia, You're right, you can't see the holes while you wear it, but "I" know they're there!!! LOL Thanks for the nice words.
ReplyDeleteAlittlesprite, Well...they're not tiny holes! You could probably put a small ball through them. But the suede makes them not noticeable until you put your fingers through them...which I'm drawn to doing!! LOL
ReplyDeleteBrenda, Thanks! And you're in the pot....melting with the rest of us!! ^_^
ReplyDeleteCrikey. My daughter and I LOVE that hat!! Love it! And thank you for your comments on my blog - I always look forward to reading them! ♥
ReplyDeleteMichele, Really?!!! Well, thank you!! I guess I'm not the only one...But of course I'm a little biased. LOL And you don't have to thank me for a comment. I enjoy doing that!
ReplyDeleteHi Deb,
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear people were nicer on twitter. I have never been on there myself. You make beautifull stuff and your poems are great. No matter what you give, it will be a great asset to someone. I like motown too. It sure was an era with great music.
Peg, I'm not on there much either. But it's one of the ways I get a lot of traffic to my Etsy shop. My items get seen by a LOT of people all at one time! And there are some friends I met there that are priceless relationships to me now...like Cindy! :-)..And thank you for the nice words too!...*humming "My Girl" as I wander away* ^_^
