If You Don't Ask, You Won't Know!

https://www.etsy.com/shop/wuglyees?section_id=6765903&ref=shopsection_leftnav_6

Ahhhhhh! It's so nice to be back here, tink, tink, tinking my fingers on the computer keyboard! ^_^ I'm taking a break before wrapping my latest pair of crochet slippers for shipment. :-) I'm not making any money on them right now, but there's something to be said for 'good relations', right?! ^_^
The purple slippers in the header photo reached their owner today, and she loves them! Whew!! ^_^ I knew she'd be honest with me about the fit, the color, the intended price, etc. She felt that my $14.50-$17.00 pricing was good! She says they're well worth it! :-) Maybe it's kinda improper to be sticking my chest out about them, but I'm such a 'pick, pick, picker' about making sure good product goes out of my shop! It made me happy to make her happy!...Now, I hope the owners of the other four pair like theirs as much!! O_O *gulp!*

The now 'purple crochet slipper mama' asked if I made robes, because she'd love to have a robe to go with her new slippers! ^_^ I love people who are bold enough to ask for what they want! The world is so full of people who don't ask because they're afraid of what the answer might be. I say: "Go for it! Ask!! You never know!!"
Of course, the answer in the case of me making crochet robes is: "NO!!!!!!" LOL But I still admire the gumption it took to ask for what she wanted!! ^_^

Case in point, another friend of mine gave me some little bird charms and asked if I would make them into a crochet necklace and earring set for his daughter! O_O My first thought was: "No! Not again!! Those seed beads almost drove me crazy last time!!!"...

But the little bird was so cute, with it's blue wings! :-) And I had no idea when I would ever use this shade of blue seed beads again!...And I had a few clear crystals left...and some other complimentary beads too!!....Soooooo...

https://www.etsy.com/shop/wuglyees?section_id=6240488&ref=shopsection_leftnav_5

I went ahead and made them! ^_^

https://www.etsy.com/shop/wuglyees?section_id=6240488&ref=shopsection_leftnav_5

So the statement stands true....if you don't ask, you won't know! And sometimes...the answer is "YES!!" ^_^

https://www.etsy.com/shop/wuglyees?section_id=6240488&ref=shopsection_leftnav_5

In my case, my answer is usually more "Yes!" than "No!", so if you want something.......ASK!!! ^_^ And if the question has to do with whether I can make you a different size or color of slippers, NOW is a good time to ask!! ^_^ I'm a crochet slipper making fool these days!! LOL I sent the winners of the drawing their slippers, but I was so happy about the feedback I got in my drawing that I decided to make a pair for every single person who entered the drawing! :-)
So, some time over the rest of the year, for those of you who entered my drawing and left your size and favorite color slipper choice, {which was very informative info for me!!} mailmen (or mail persons!) will be ringing your doorbells with your mail, and a package will be along with it...a brand new pair of homemade house slippers!! ^_^ Five pair are already sent...9 pair to go!! ♥
Okay...I'm off to wrap a package and take a nap so I can be alert for my meeting tonight! (Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses) :-) Talk to you soon!!

About My Teachers

Let me tell you about my teachers!
Those who let my spirit fly.
Those who taught me self-control.
Those who always made me try.

My music teacher, small in size,
whose unsung words would sometimes sting;
He taught humility and patience,
while also teaching me to sing.

My English teacher, gregarious,
whose toothy smile was just as loud;
She taught me confidence and joy,
and to be fearless in a crowd.

My drama teacher, A or E,
from her I earned my hardest grade.
It was for letting out a scream.
From which I learned: 'Be Not Afraid'.

For basketball, and also Gym,
My coach would train us like a nut!
And though we lost, most every time,
I learned to try, no matter what.

I learned to cater and to waitress
from a crew who taught me well.
In fact, so many new experiences
that I now can hardly tell.

My Bible teacher too,
taught me how 'I must forgive';
And by teaching me God's laws,
also taught me how to live.

To my teachers, one and all,
bold, soft-spoken, shy or tough,
Thanks for teaching me the knowledge
that being 'me' is good enough!

It's 'News-All-Over-The-Place' Monday!

I'm awake! I'm awake!!...No, really, I am!! :-] And considering the weekend I've had, my being awake this morning is...

...REALLY good news indeed! :-) Especially since, with the state of the real news being 'all-over-the-place' the last few days, I'd just as soon go back to bed!...ALL DAY!! O_O
The news over the weekend was full of things like little girls being kidnapped!...a whole hotel collapsing into a sinkhole, with people having to rush to get out!...and heavy rains with deadly flash floods!...*sigh*
But on the good news front...gas prices are going down! YAY!!!...and  we're only a couple of weeks away from the time for kids here in the U.S. to go back to school!! :-) And yes, that is good news...to tired, overworked, 'crazy-out-of-their-vacationing-summer-minds'....YEAH, RIGHT!...moms!! LOL
Speaking of which, here's a couple of back to school ideas...

...Okay!...I slipped the crochet boutonnieres in there. ^_^ But hey!...boutonnieres can be good back-to-school gifts! You can add them to a backpack strap, headband, shoe, etc...I can even put a brooch pin or button on the back of them if you prefer! :-) I'm flexible like that!! LOL
In other news...for adults...how about these ideas...

You can use these for backyard mommy-get-togethers, now that the kids will be back in school! :-) ... or as side-kick-carry-with-yous when you're going door-to-door talking to people about 'Good News'! :-) ...Uhhhh...not everybody will use the tote like that, but some will! ^_^ YOU know who you are!! *wink! wink!*

Okay, my news...and my time...is up!...

Gotta go get me something to eat and get my Monday on schedule!...Have a good week everybody! :-)

Sunday With Questions...Not Pancakes!

Yes, I know...Spring is here. But since you wouldn't be able to tell by looking outside in my actual backyard...because it's still covered with snow!...I decided to lead my post with a happy Spring day...la la land style! ^_^
You can think of colorful tulips and sunshine, bubbles and hot air balloons while I answer the other two questions I got the other day! ^_^ And before I even get there, let me tell you ahead of time that one of them is a biblical question. {That's for those of you who don't wanna hear anything about other people's beliefs, or don't believe in God or the Bible.
I totally understand not wanting to be preached to. In fact, I have felt the same way at different times in my life. And I didn't stand for it either! ^_^ But now I obviously don't feel the same way. Although I'm still picky about it, depending on 'who' is trying to preach to me!! LOL
But I would never jam my beliefs down someone's throat...so to speak...So, consider this answered question in terms of knowledge. With the increase in interest about the bible and biblical history lately, I figure a little knowledge can't hurt! ^_^} And I believe that no one can 'make' anybody believe something that they don't want to believe anyway!..But let me answer the other question first!

..."... How much time do you spend researching all the great items you find on etsy??..."

The answer to this question is gonna surprise you, because it's not nearly as much time as you think! In fact this is how simple it is most mornings...I turn on the computer and check my shop to see if I've sold anything, or need to answer emails...After that I go to the activity feed button...it's the items that those in my 'circles' (sorta like 'people I follow and who follow me') have 'hearted'.
I just scroll through the pictures of the items...

   ...until I come to something...or numerous somethings!...that I like!...

...When I see something...like these pretty fingerless gloves...I click over to the shop, download the photo, and then put it on the blog, along with their info and links!

Because there's so many talented people on Etsy, there is always something that catches my eye!!! And if not, I search for things based on what's on my mind! ^_^ I look for owls one day, men's boutonnieres the next, and 'virtual' trip items the day after that, and so on and so forth! LOL...One of these days I'm gonna have NOTHING on my mind and I'm gonna be in trouble! But so far, that hasn't happened! ^_^ There's always SOMETHING on my mind!
The amount of time this little activity takes can vary from an hour, to three hours. Rarely does it get anywhere near the three hour mark though. I pretty quickly choose the things I choose, and the blog talking thing takes practically NO time! LOL I just write it as I think about it...clearly!! ^_^ ... I love that it looks like I'm agonizing over my post though! ^_^ ... Thank you for asking!!

       Now the last question:

..."...Why do we grow old and die? This one will stump you I'm sure..." LOL

The person that asked me this question for only kidding with me, because she has the same beliefs as I do! But I decided to answer it seriously because I'm sure some people must've felt the same way I did about the answer at some point in their lives!...I figured that we grew old and died because that's the way God wanted it! End of question!
But I found out when I started studying the Bible that that was far from the truth!! In fact, God NEVER wanted us to die! He actually wanted humans to live forever right here on the earth!!
Before I studied the Bible I was a little afraid of death. And I HATED funerals! I wouldn't go to funerals or funeral homes...except for the funeral home in our neighborhood that had the local soda machine on it's porch!...I was thirsty a lot as a kid!! ^_^...That's a story for another day! LOL...I used to say that if it was left up to me I wasn't even gonna go to my own funeral if I could get out of it!! LOL
Anyway!...when I studied the Bible I found out that God created a man, Adam, and blew the breath of life into him and he came to be a living soul...Then God gave him some instructions. This is what Genesis 2:15-17 says:

"And Jehovah God proceeded to take the man and settle him in the garden of E′den to cultivate it and to take care of it. 16 And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. 17 But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”

So, therefore, death was the punishment!!...If Adam had continued to obey, he would have continued to live....forever!

But you know what happened, right?!....If not, you can probably guess, considering the state mankind is in today!!...He disobeyed Jehovah God. :-(  And he blamed it on the woman God had made to be with him! (You can read the whole account in your Bible at Genesis 3:1-14) O_O That's also a story for another time!!

The Bible says that God told Adam: "
"In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return."

This is how death spread to all of us. Adam became imperfect in his disobedience, like a bread pan with a dent in it. Every loaf of bread baked in him after that, so to speak,...meaning every child born to him...had the same dent! They all were imperfect and dying, and it could not be removed by another human...The Bible book of Romans explains:

Romans 5:12 says:

"That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned."

Even in his now imperfect state, Adam lived a long time!...

            Genesis 5:5 says:

"So all the days of Adam that he lived amounted to nine hundred and thirty years and he died."

So, from the time he disobeyed he began to die...We today are a lot further away from perfection, and we live nowhere near as long as Adam did!! But he is where our growing old and dying all started!!....Interestingly, we do have hope though! And that hope lies in the person that the Bible refers to as "the last Adam"...Jesus Christ! :-)

      1 Corinthians 15:45 says:

"It is even so written: “The first man Adam became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life‐giving spirit.

Now, of course, there's a whole lot more I could go into here, but I'll spare you! ^_^ Consider the questioning DONE! If you still have questions though, just email me or 'convo' me on Etsy. I'm willing to talk, if you're willing to listen!! LOL

Now I'm off to get some pancakes! After all, this is 'Pancake Sunday'!! ^_^ Have a good rest of the day, Everybody!! :-)

Abstract...With Feeling...For Me And Mona Lisa!

This photograph is entitled Rainy Days and Mondays. It would be the perfect image for today...'if' it was raining like it usually is around here on a Monday! ^_^ But, according to the weather person, it's gonna be dry and clear and in the middle 40s (Fahrenheit), and we're not even gonna get a rain shower until Thursday!...In Massachusetts?...in December?!...Shocking! ^_^
We are gonna get a little wind...
Okay....Okay! Let me confess. I've been conducting a little experiment with you. :-) ...I'll tell you about it, but first let me ask you...did you pop over here to my blog because you saw the abstract colors in the rain photo scroll across your 'Friend Connect'?!...And did you get a certain feeling while you were looking at the first or second semi-abstract images above?!
I'm asking because I watched this movie over the weekend, with Julia Roberts in it, called Mona Lisa Smile.
It was about a woman who came to teach in a woman's private liberal arts college, Wellesley,...here in Massachusetts,...but the movie was set back in 1953. She came  to teach a course on the 'History of Art'. The theme of the movie was more about the culture toward women at the time. But I was immediately struck by the art course she was teaching!
The movie talked about art, and why one thing is called 'art' while something similar is not called 'art'! It was fascinating. And I learned a lot!...And it got me to thinking about why certain art pieces make me feel the way I do about them...Wanna know what I learned?!
I learned that I 'still' don't know why certain art pieces make me feel the way I do about them?!! ^_^ ...It's funny though, I know exactly what I like! I can tell you how it makes me feel...but I don't know why it does! Does that happen to you?!
Some art is self explainable. At least I think it is!...Like for instance, look at this...
This artist paints custom portraits of individuals...or pets...from a photograph that they send in!...That's what I call an art! Not only the finished product, but even the ability to look at a person, or pet, and be able to paint them, is artistic!...In the above image you can see that there's an abstract silhouette of the person behind them too...sorta like them looking at themselves in a mirror over their shoulder...WOW! Talk about art!
But some art is not so defined and precise. Some art is just 'emotion-evoking', but in ways that only the person looking at it can explain...To let you know what I mean, I conducted my own experiment.
I went over to Etsy, typed "Blue Monday Art" or "Abstract Monday Art" in the search bar, and just scrolled down...without looking at any of the names of the art pieces...and down-loaded the images that evoked some sort of immediate reaction for me. Here's what I came up with...
This one made me feel like I usually do on Mondays...like it's been a good weekend, but now I've got to come out of my weekend bubble...back into the blue Monday routine. But hey! it's gonna be good! :-)

This one made me feel like I do on blue Mondays in the Springtime. Calm...enjoying my backyard...maybe slightly rainy...but not bothered, and not much on my schedule that's pressing to do. :-)

This one feels like one of those Mondays where the weekend came and went too fast, and I didn't get done as much as I needed to!...With chores in front of me though...it still feels like it was gonna be a good day! :-)

If you know anything about Poetesswug (me!) at all...this picture is self explanatory. It's flowers!...and it's the best Monday ever!! :-) Can't you see the happiness?! ^_^

I don't know why, but this picture makes me smile and feel all warm and gooey inside. :-) Maybe it's because it's so colorful...or maybe it's because it looks like warm honey and I haven't had my breakfast yet! LOL But whatever the reason, it doesn't feel like a Monday at all...It feels like a Thursday photo. A Thursday that's anticipating a Friday! LOL

This one made me wanna take a deep breath, sit back, and just look at it...for hours! :-) I think it's so calming. If I had this one on my bedroom wall I might not get anything done...ever! :-) I think this would be perfect for doctors and dentists to put in their office waiting rooms, don't you?!

         Hey! Wait.....

... ^_^ How did that get in there?!...

           ...That's not abstract art!! LOL...

And then again......! :-] It is to me!! (This is the new scarf I'm working on right now I made it with the colors of the latest fingerless gloves. I'm gonna list them in the shop tomorrow.)

This is how I'm feeling today...Yes, it's a blue Monday, but I'm so not feeling 'Monday'....I'm feeling 'Happy'!! Can't you see me in the picture, with my arms out-stretched ready to give everybody a hug?! My whole head is one BIG...yep! I'm officially a big head! LOL...happy flower!
And while the blue of Monday is trying to take a hold of me, I'm holding it off with some backyard 'calming' green! :-) And yes...there's gonna be all kinds of movement in the house today....fingers and brain cells will be flying!! :-) ...I'm feeling so good today that I think I could make 'Mona Lisa smile'! :-)
So, did any of these images evoke emotions in you?!...Are you smiling, upset, sad, giddy?!...Blame it on art! And art teachers! :-) ...And to all teachers, whether you're teaching art or math or life...THANK YOU!!!...And to all of you blog followers, don't forget to enter the headband Giveaway...and have a good Monday!!!......Make it abstract and wonderful! :-)

Let's Hear It For The TEACHERS!!!!

     (esoule)
They're everywhere. Teachers I mean. If you don't think so, think about how you learned how to drive. How you learned to play music or sports. How you learned how to hold your eating utensils correctly when you were a kid...
       (ifonlyshehadboughtit)
...How you learned what was the best things to 'eat' in order to make your body work appropriately. Yes, we've had a 'lot' of people trying to teach us that!! LOL
I've had some great teachers over the years. And I've learned something long-lasting from each and every one of them....Even the ones that weren't so good at being a teacher! (They didn't realize that even though they weren't consciously teaching me...they still 'were'!)
So, because it's Sunday, the end of the week, quiet, a good day for reflection, and everywhere I turn the subject seems to keep coming up!....I thought I'd take today and reflect on teachers....and what they taught me...And besides, I can hear you saying: "Aww!! Just go ahead and 'talk about it already!'" LOL That was 'YOU' that said that, right?! ^_^
I've mentioned on this blog, many times, about my growing up years in the South. And I think I've mentioned that I had an elementary school music teacher who taught me a great lesson. But I don't think I ever told you the lesson he taught me.
       (BannerGirlDesign)
I don't remember all of the details anymore....I'm 'Old' People!!...but I do remember that there was some kind of School performance planned where my music class would be able to perform in the auditorium in front of the whole School, and that my teacher had decided that since, as he said, I had the best voice, he would let me sing the solo....Close To You, by the Carpenters! :-)
I was so excited!!!...But on the day he slotted for us to do the rehearsals, I didn't go to School. :-( It wasn't my fault. Long story! But anyway, the day of the performance I still foolishly thought that because I had the best voice, I would be singing my little heart out in front of everybody!!
That morning the teacher pulled me aside and told me that he was sorry, but since I hadn't rehearsed, he was going to let 'Sally' (can't remember her real name now) do the solo!
         (MariamSitchinava)
I remember saying, in tears: "But you said I had the best voice!!" :-( He said: "You do. But it wouldn't be fair to allow you to take center stage when the others have been here practicing so hard, would it? Even 'Sally' knows you're the best. That's why she's worked so hard. I want to reward her for that."
       (sentimentalstones)
I'm not gonna lie, I was mad as a hornet!!! LOL But in retrospect, I realize that he taught me something that day that has stayed with me all these years....hard work pays off!!... He also taught me that just because you do something better than other people doesn't mean that no one else could do it! You're not irreplaceable, so you better do the work!!
I also learned the lesson of humility that day. And of patience...having to watch 'Sally' in the lime-light, and clap for her when she was done.  I've, since then,  learned how to 'suck it up' and be happy for all of the Sallys of the world, who may not be the best, but they show up to do the work!...That's been  a reoccurring lesson throughout the years!
In High School (10th through 12th grade) I played basketball for the School. My coach, who also was the Gym teacher, was a woman with a lot of people skills, but not many sporting skills! Good thing too, because we lost...a LOT!!! LOL And we needed a lot of consoling!!
Somehow though, no matter how many games we came home from the road upset about, she was always there with that 'little old ant' attitude! She had such high hopes for us! :-))
      (RebecCards)
Her hopes didn't make us win, but they sure gave us the will to keep trying...every week! Of course, part of that was the fact that we knew, win or lose, she'd either take us out to eat at McDonald's, or we'd all go, as a team, over to her house to play games or cook something good. :-) My first taste of homemade spaghetti and meatballs was at her house!!
        What did I learn from her?!...That losing is not the worst thing in the world that could ever happen to you! :-) Even losing can help you build friendships and have a new experience! {Too bad I didn't learn how to be a better team player though. ^_^ I haven't been very good at that over the years. But hey! I've got high hopes that one day I'll learn that lesson too!! LOL}
My High School 'Drama' teacher (Acting and the Arts teacher), a woman who would not take 'NO' for an answer, gave us an end of the term exam one year that consisted of her saying: "At the end of this scene you have to scream at the top of your lungs. If you do, you get an 'A'. If you don't, you get an 'E' (which was the epitome of a failing grade)"!!
       (lilbasketcase)
I was horrified at the idea of doing this in her class...in front of everybody!....where the whole school would, no doubt, come running to see what was the matter with me! O_0 I tried every trick in the book to get out of it, but she wasn't having it!! She finally made me so mad that I screamed....at her!!! LOL....I got an 'A', and I learned to not be afraid to do something that I never did before. Sometimes it works out wonderfully!
Before her class I spent most of my time walking around looking at my shoes. Shy. VERY shy! But since then my fear of the unknown has an edge of excitement about it...within reason. ^_^ I'm not jumping out of airplanes, but I 'am' doing a blog every day....on the internet!!!! LOL (insert loud scream here) ^_^
Lastly, the teacher that taught me my love of words...
        (RoyalKitness)
Well, actually, I've had more than one teacher in this area. My mother had a great love for words and reading, so I'm sure a lot of my love was passed through the genes. :-) And my art teacher loved doing collages with words, cutting out words to glue onto stuff, and verbally sounding out words in funny ways. LOL...But my English High School teacher surely focused my love of words!
She made us write essays and then read them aloud in front of the class; We de-coded Beatles songs...
        (Kelbean)
...(I'll share my favorite one at the end of the post); we deciphered Edgar Allen Poe's stories and poetry; etc... I absolutely loved her mind! :-) It was all bubbly, creative, and musical!! :-)
       (lucysnowephotography)
And 'her' mind made 'my' mind expand!!...She was a great teacher! :-]
My greatest teachers are still teaching me today! I'm a constant and veracious learner too! It's a lifetime education. :-) An everlasting lifetime I hope!!
Please, tell me about your teachers. What did you learn from them?! Are they things that still stick with you today?! How about...let's hear it for our teachers!!!! :-)

 About My Teachers

Let me tell you about my teachers!
Those who let my spirit fly.
Those who taught me self-control.
Those who always made me try.

My music teacher, small in size,
whose unsung words would sometimes sting;
He taught humility and patience,
while also teaching me to sing.

My English teacher, gregarious,
whose toothy smile was just as loud;
She taught me confidence and joy,
and to be fearless in a crowd.

My drama teacher, A or E,
from her I earned my hardest grade.
It was for letting out a scream.
From which I learned: 'Be Not Afraid'.

For basketball, and also Gym,
My coach would train us like a nut!
And though we lost, most every time,
I learned to try, no matter what.

I learned to cater and to waitress
from a crew who taught me well.
In fact, so many new experiences
that I now can hardly tell.

My Bible teacher too,
taught me that 'I must forgive';
And by teaching me God's laws,
also taught me how to live.

To my teachers, one and all,
bold, soft-spoken, shy or tough,
Thanks for teaching me the knowledge
that being 'me' is good enough!
