Sooooo...Let's Talk About Darkness?!

       Ah, Yes! This is the kind of darkness I wanna talk about!!... :-) ...dark chocolate in some cookies!! Made to order dark chocolate cookies, with salted and roasted pistachios in them!! YUM!!

      

     Or I could talk about some dark wood earrings!...

     These earrings are so slender and nice that they could almost make me look skinny!....Ha! Ha!....Okay, that would be a lot for a pair of earrings to do!! ^_^ No single piece of jewelry should have that kind of workload!..just saying! LOL Let's just let earrings do what they do, and my non-skinny body do what it does!...and 'never the twains shall meet'!! ^_^

     Instead of unrealistically trying to make 'my body' look skinny by wearing a pair of earrings, let's talk about something else dark, shall we! :-) Let's talk about dark beads!...

      Yep!...We can talk about dark chocolate cookies, earrings or beads, or......we can talk about 'true' darkness. The 'true' darkness hubby and I found ourselves in last night when a whole area of Holyoke went unexpectedly 'lights out'!!! O_O

      I'll start the story of what happened by first telling you that if not for my hubby there would probably be 'no' story that "I" would be telling you!!...because I was taking a nap when the power and lights went out! He woke me up to a blaring buzzer going off on my C-Pap oxygen machine, and pitch blackness!! O_O

      Good thing he was awake, or else I would've slept...to 'death'!!...which is kinda funny to say now, considering my proclivity to take a nap anywhere and at any time!...^_^....but it was not so funny last night!!

      He was so insistent: "Honey, wake up!!!! Take off your mask! The power went off!!!"...He says I started gasping for air while he was trying to figure out what was going on. O_O ...WOW!!!...I guess laying in your bed taking a nap, with your mouth and nose covered by a mask that's leading to a C-Pap machine that's feeding you pressurized air so that you can stay alive, that's suddenly is feeding you NO AIR...is kinda dangerous, huh?!!! LOL...."DUH!!!" LOL

     I'm laughing about it because it sounds more serious than I'm sure it would have been. I mean...when the song stopped playing in my head I'm sure I would have woke up! ^_^ ...{For those of you who don't know, that is reference to the fact that I wake up every day with a song or jingle of some kind playing over and over in my head.}...or else I would have finally heard that blaring buzzer. I mean IT was BLARING!!!!...It's funny how when you know that your husband is the one that gets up and turns off the alarms in the house, you can sleep through ANYTHING!...but when you know he's not around, a piece of your own hair blowing past your nose can wake you right up!!! O_O What's that about anyway?!

     Anyway!...after we realized that darkness was gonna be our friend for a while, we pulled out the battery operated radio, got our flashlights, and chatted!...And nope!...I can't tell you what we chatted about!! ^_^ It's too silly for the blog. Suffice it to say...two old people with no tennis to watch, and not enough light to crochet by, can be REALLY silly!! LOL

     The lights were out less than two hours, and therefore...I'm still breathing this morning after a night of properly pressurized air! :-) LIGHT!....isn't it grand?!! ^_^ ...That's the end of my story, except to say that hubby and I had a kind of pre-emptive 'virtual' date night last night. We were 'virtually' everywhere else but in our room sitting in the dark!! LOL..Today we're just on the hunt for something good to eat!! ^_^ Any suggestions?!

       Sorry for all of the wordiness today, Y'all, but stuff was on my wandering mind and I just had to share!...It's not the first time...as you know! ^_^ Have a good day, Everybody!

My Mind Went A Wandering

After barely any sleep,
and dreams I find that I am pondering,
my mind is on a journey,
skipping rocks and out a wandering.

It's acting sorta senile,
like an old lady in her nightie,
barefoot on the highway,
thinking she's all high and mighty.

I'm contemplating platypus
and belly buttons too.
All this while thinking fingernails
are not that good to chew.

It's probably not a good thing
that my head's so far from home.
Especially all uncovered,
and now clearly needing a comb.      

My Life....In Airplane Terms

     It took everything I had to get out of bed this morning! And don't ask me where the airplane terms are coming from, but I woke up and everything I wanna talk about has some kind of airplane reference connected to it! LOL

    I was "flying high" when I woke up, after a night of real sleep!...I was in a "holding pattern" waiting for hubby to fix breakfast this morning (he's getting more creative...and taking longer to create his meals! ^_^)...Our conversation went into a "nose dive" when I tried to talk to him about that though! LOL...A little "turbulence" about breakfast is not gonna bother me today though. We've been married 30 years!!! It'll take more than chicken and cheese fingers with oatmeal to make me look for some other "pilot for my cockpit"! ^_^

    You see what I mean about the airplane terms?!...*shaking my head*...And it's not some kind of cutesy set up either! What I had planned to share with you this morning didn't have anything to do with airplanes! It's an Etsy treasury entitled Natural Cottage Chic!...

     It's a gorgeous treasury by Ilene, of Corydora. And there's not an airplane anywhere in sight! ^_^ I mean...this isn't an airplane...

Let Me See...What's Been Going On?!

       Hello, Everybody!....HELLO!!! O_O Is anybody still out there?! ^_^ ...I know I've been a bit of a tennis watching nut over the last couple of weeks, but I've been keeping track of some things I wanted to talk to you about as they came up...so be ready! LOL
     The first thing I wanted to tell you about was hubby's new flowers!....Yes! That header photo is of one of hubby's flowers from the backyard!! :-) ...This is what one of the plants  look like...

        Isn't it beautiful?!

      I'm not usually a person that goes for this color scheme, the pastels kinda....but I'm really loving it for some reason!...Maybe my hormones are changing my sense of 'likes' and 'dislikes' too!! LOL Ugh!...That's another story I have to tell you about one of these days! Ugh!

     And hubby doesn't know what flowers are gonna pop out of this one...

    It's sister plant has big leaves...

      I guess we'll all find out together! :-)

       One of the other things that's new around here is my men's crochet cuff link lapel pins....Whew! That's a mouth full, isn't it?! O_O

       I know....it looks just like my other flowers and lapel pins, right?!...

       But it's not!!...

      It's really tiny....1 & 1/4 inches (3.2 cm)...and instead of having a button on back to button it into the man's lapel, it has a cuff link!...

        Once it goes through the lapel buttonhole, you can turn the post sideways...

       ...and there you go! :-) ... Ha! I said that like it was just as easy as pie!.....And it sure wasn't!!! I had to put the button on separate, crochet another backing to cover the cuff link top, and sew it all securely in place...I'm still working on others to see what's gonna be the easiest, and least time-consuming way to make them...But this one is already in my Wuglyees shop anyway --> HERE <--.
       The button was a lot of work!...I made another one with a bead in the center...

        *sigh*...It was just as much work!...I'm gonna list this one later today.

       I made a couple of other ones, both made slightly different....I'm gonna find the formula eventually!! ^_^ 

      Okay....that's it for today!...Yes, I've been kinda side-tracked. Sleepless. Distracted. Once again my mind has been 'a wandering', but YAY...I'm back! :-) At least for now!....And not a tennis ball or racket anywhere!! ^_^ .....I missed you!...Have a good day, Everybody! :-)

Let's Play "NAME THAT DISORDER"!

      I was so glad to see the sunrise this morning!...It's funny how appreciative you can be of a lit up, albeit rainy, sky...after a few nights of looking at the blackness of night WIDE AWAKE!! LOL Although I'm happy to report that I 'did' get a few hours of sleep last night...broken up in quadrants of time here and there....UGH!

       My sleeplessness...and other physical issues...have caused my hubby to start giving my disorders funny names. ^_^ It's a good thing I still have a sense of humor! If I was the type that went crazy on a small amount of sleep, he might have to be watching his back right about now! LOL

       He has named my sleepnessness "Up, Still Up-itis". ^_^ Crazy man!!...And my sleepnessness is not the only thing on his radar! Because of the rain, and the barometric pressure effects on my bladder, I'm using the 'little girl's room' almost every 15 to 30 minutes!....or as hubby says...I have "Pee Pee-itis".  And when I go and it doesn't produce much,....Yes, we 'do' talk about EVERYTHING!! LOL...he refers to it as "Tee Tee Simpl-ova". LOL...WHATEVER! ^_^

       At least he's entertaining...when I'm half asleep! LOL

      In other news, we got a new hummingbird feeder!! :-)

      If you saw the feeder we had last year, you'll immediately recognize that this is a totally different kind. There's two reasons for that.... 1. those crazy ants....and  2. those crazy wasps! LOL They were giving our poor little hummingbirds such a hard time last year!...This one is suppose to be bee-proof...We're hoping that translates into being ant-proof also!

      Also this year, we no longer have the branch on the tree that we hung the feeder from! The freak storm that hit our backyard...and that hit the whole area really...took out a bunch of trees all over the state, including ours...The tree is still standing, but the branch that hung out there, so proudly displaying and offering sweet nectar to the hummingbirds, 'bit the dust'!

      Hubby, the ingenious, creative, disorder-naming man that he is, 'jimmied-up' a few paper clips, stringing them together to extend the feeder down to in front of the window. He hung the feeder from the over-hang of the house. :-) Let me see, what name would you call his disorder....hmmm....I know, he's an "Undo-able-phobic"! LOL If there's a will, which there always is...he'll find a way! ^_^

       Speaking of which, we've been scratching things off the list...as to why I'm not sleeping well...

--- I haven't had coffee in over a week....That's not it.

--- The C-Pap machine has been De-germified...That's apparently not it, although we haven't ruled out something systemically being wrong with the machine yet. That's still on the list!

--- I washed my hair.

--- I make hubby take a bath every time he goes out of the house and comes back in...to wash the outside pollen off of him.

--- We've checked all of the new seasonings and foods we've bought lately.

--- We've checked to make sure we're not using any new household products...detergent, hand soap, deodorant, etc.. (Had to get rid of one of hubby's deodorants. The scent of it was giving me the sneezies..."Achoo-itis" ^_^....He's sometimes Mr. Funki-itis now! LOL...Just kidding! He smells like a dream. ^_^

--- The air purifier and the humidifier have been Spring cleaned.

--- And yesterday, the bedroom was Spring cleaned! O_O

    

      The one thing I'm not gonna be able to take off the list...at least not yet...is menopause. And considering some of the other issues I'm dealing with, this may be the answer to the whole 'shebang'!!..."Old Lady-itis"!! LOL

         That menopause thing may be responsible for the other disorders I have right now..."Crabby-mouth-itis"..."Crickety joint-itis"....and "Totally Annoyed-itis"! ^_^ And, if the post nasal drip and spotting doesn't subside soon, I may need a "cough-ectomy"....or a "snoring-and-think-he's-funny-hubby-ectomy"!!! LOL {For the non-medical folks out there, the suffix 'itis' means 'inflammation of'.....and 'ectomy' means 'removal of'. ^_^}

       Okay, enough silliness for today! ^_^ Off to soothe the growling tummy. I need breakfast....STAT!!!! LOL Have a good day, Everybody!

      I'm having another one of those mornings! I didn't sleep that good, and my mind is wandering all over the place!...And while it sounds like it could be a really frustrating thing, the truth is...I'm having a good morning! :-)

      I guess part of the reason for that is my hubby. :-) If you're an old....scratch that!...'old-ER' woman, like myself, and you wake up at 4 a.m. thinking about platypuses and belly buttons, it's good to have a man laying next to you with a sense of humor and nothing but time on his hands!....Time to ponder the universe...of your mind...with you, and tell 'crazy' when to take a left turn! ^_^

      Not everything this old brain of mine is pondering is bad...certainly not as bad as the quick news update I just saw! O_O A wall of smoke engulfing a town.....and a man fell into a vat of mud in my home state of Georgia!....*talk about wandering off!*...No, some of the wanderings of my mind are kinda nice. :-] Like thinking back on all the pretty butterflies I saw in SpotLightJewelry!...

         Just looking at the photo above I can see that her mind wandered in all of the same places mine did when I was thinking about all of the different places you can wear a cute little paper butterfly!... :-)...But hers went even farther than mine!

        Look at these cute little butterfly hair clips...

        Wouldn't they look great in a bride's hair on her wedding day?!...

       Sooooooo pretty! :-]

       And while we're at it,...putting butterflies in our hair...why not put some flowers on our fingers too!...

          Speaking of flowers, my crocheted flower headbands sold! :-) The customer loved them both, and bought them last night!...

         O_O Did my mind wander too far out in the woods, too fast for you?!......Okay, how about this?!...

        They're ceramic woodland animal rings...also from SpotLightJewelry!...As you can see...my mind was doing a lot of wandering around in her shop last night! ^_^

        I have to admit to you that a lot of the wanderings of my mind started yesterday. It was a day of highs and lows...

---We got our tax refund in the mail finally...YAY!!!...a high!

---Hubby got a call to go to his old job to pick up his vacation pay check!...YAY!.....No!...They're not giving him the 4 weeks vacation pay he's owed. They pro-rated it according to the month he started working  there, and instead of the over $2,000 we thought it would be...it's around $300. :-( ...a low.

---We found out that there's a 'transitional program' for people in our situation, and we'll be able to get some financial help on a regular basis. Hubby may even be able to get paid to take care of me...like he's being doing all along, without pay! :-) ...YAY!...It's not exactly a high, but it's not a low!

---Our unemployment compensation is looking sketchy. The company appears to have really cut our legs out from under us...so to speak. It's kinda sad for hubby too...after 17 years of hard work, ridiculous hours with no extra pay, and contracts that took away hundreds of dollars a month from him, with the promise of getting it back later...and now here it is "later"...and he's gonna see none of  his money back! :-( ...a Low!

        Enough of that! Sometimes the wandering just has to stop and you just need a good laugh! ^_^ And that's what hubby and I did when I said this to him this morning:

      "I don't know what's wrong with my mind this morning!...My mind feels like an old lady that woke up out on the highway,.....in her nightie...barefoot...with her hair flying all wild...and wondering why the traffic is whizzing by so fast!" O_0 ...a high! LOL

       
I know Dion & the Belmonts were singing about girls, in their song The Wanderer, but I could use their song this morning to talk about my mind's thoughts. ♫ 'they're a wandering....Oh yeah, a wandering....all around round round round round!' ♫ Ha! Ha!
