So, Apparently 'Shequita' Has A Big Head, AND.......!

      I got a late start this morning with my blog....Sorry...I was spending the morning with my hubby...having breakfast and chit chatting. :-) {If you want, you can see the just of the conversation HERE.}
    Afterward he took a few pictures for me. First of 'Tina', sporting my winter coat...and the newest scarves I crocheted, but haven't listed yet...

      This is the second soft blue scarf. I sold the first one. This one is about an inch wider than the last one...

      It's the same yarn I used for the soft blue headband...The headband is already listed in my Wuglyees shop. Hopefully I'll get the scarf listed later today.
        
        He also got the photos of this scarf on 'Tina'...

          This one has the pink, white, and watermelon shades...

         Tina doesn't look half bad in a coat! ^_^ Nice call Mr. Photographer Man!


     That wasn't the end though...Yes! I 'have' been crocheting an awful lot!! ^_^ I think I've been using it like therapy since 'Peaches' died. {Speaking of which, me and 'Peaches' sister have been talking more regularly now. :-)}...Hubby also took these...

       This is my new 8-Color scarf...

       I like this one because it'll go with almost every headband in my shop...I still have to make a mint green headband though....SOON!!! ^_^
      And this is the last scarf that I did...

      I almost called it a 'Wuglyee'...because one of the yarns was the last that I had and I don't think I'll be able to get anymore. But it looked so well thought out when I was done with it that I decided to call it 'Special' instead...*Teehee*...

        Doesn't it look 'Special'! ^_^ And stop laughing too!!! LOL
     After hubby finished with 'Tina', 'Shequita' was put on the block! ^_^ He took some pictures of the headbands I finished. Some of them are already in the shop...HERE and HERE...including this one...

      But I still have to list these...

        This is the black, white, and gray striped one...

       
         And this is the blue suede one...

         This suede one is hubby's favorite....

         But here's my dilemma. After hubby got through doing all of this photographing, especially of the headbands, he said to me: "Maybe you should put some elastic in the headbands or something." O_O
      I said: "Why?"...He said: "Because they fit kinda loose. Well, most of them. Not the suede one. It fits just right."....I asked him why he hadn't said anything about it before, and he said he just figured that maybe I made them loose because 'Shequita' wasn't wearing her hair at the time. ^_^
     Now...you know my issues with hubby and his 'styling abilities'!! LOL But is it possible that he could be right?!!!! Am I making the headbands too large?!...HELP!!!! 'I thought that 'Shequita's' 21 inch head (53.3 cm) was what you would call 'Average'. And I was basing all of my measurements on that...Is it possible that 'Shequita' just has a big head?!!! 
     Hubby says I should take about an inch off of the length and then it should be perfect. Is he right?!....Okay everybody....get out your measuring tape and rulers and measure your heads!! I need some feedback!!! ^_^ I can't go by my head. Mine is bigger than 'Shequita's'!! LOL That's why they call me 'The Hat Lady'!! ^_^ I have to put a tent on this big head circus show!! LOL
      I'm not kidding guys and girls. Help me out. Is 'Shequita's head big, or is hubby's mouth big?!!! LOL I await your feedback...Otherwise, have a good day everybody!! :-)


The Hat Lady

I have become 'The Hat Lady',
but that was not always the case.
I'd tried for many years
to find a hat that fit my face.

But then, while searching for some shoes,
I saw a hat my size at the store.
"I'm not a hat girl", is what I said,
but I can't deny it anymore.

Now I have hats made of straw, in colors,
with beads and tied string on the trim;
with tassels and felt, like cowboys,
and lace and fur on the brim.

I have become 'The Hat Lady',
a silly description, I know.
And while cowboys will die with their boots on-
I know that a hat is not a bad way to go!

Quirky, Quirky, Quirky!!

    The caption says that "People are now more comfortable embracing quirkiness and individuality". Do you think that's true these days?! And do you think this room view fits that description...quirky, I mean?!
      I saw this picture in the new March edition of the Country Living magazine that I got day before yesterday.

      I didn't think it was quirky at all! I mean, it has beautiful butterfly prints, a beautiful lamp, and a vase full of pretty flowers. Where is the quirky part?! It just looks like a cute and comfortable reading space to me!...Does that make me quirky, that I don't see the quirkiness of it?! LOL
     Oh well...I've been called worse than quirky in my life! ^_^ In fact quirky may be a step up!!!....Quirky or not, I love it! And I love some other things in this month's magazine too! I just have to share!!
      You probably could guess that one of the first places I would turn in the magazine would be the section where the new recipes are! :-) I do love a new food recipe!!...But, while there were recipes for Macaroni and Gruyere (accent over the first "e") Cheese, Savannah Red Rice with Shrimp and Smoked Sausage, and Grits Fritters with Country Ham and Cheese, they weren't the first thing that caught my eye. It was this!

      Arugula and Baby Lettuce Salad with Soft-Boiled Eggs and Roasted Oyster Mushrooms!!!...WOW! My first drool-fest was over salad and eggs!! What does this say about me?! Maybe I really am quirky!! ^_^
      Anybody that really knows me...and has cooked for me...will tell you that I have "fowl issues"! I don't mean issues with "foul", as in foul language...although there is that! LOL I mean "fowl", as in chickens, turkey, birds....eating them! (mostly at only a certain time of the month! *wink! wink!*) So, for me to see this plate, with fowl eggs on it, and have a "Yippee!" type reaction is a big deal for me!!
     It just looks yummy for some reason! To me?! The girl with 'boiled egg, texture in the mouth, not good' issues?!!...Yes! it does! The reason may be because I love mushrooms, olive oil, vinegar, honey, and mustard. All of which are also in this recipe!! I think I'm going to try this one...I'll let you know if I was able to eat it! LOL If you don't hear anymore about it...don't ask! ^_^
      No worries though. Some good will come out of those eggs!! I could use them for this!

       For sprouting seeds in the shells!! Is that cool or what?! :-) It seems to make so much sense too! Whoever thought of it is a green thumb genius!!
       And being the "word-smith" that I am,...(I never called myself that before JUST NOW! LOL)...I love, love, love this idea!!

       Hand-written words in picture frames to hang on the wall!! What a great use of space!...Don't get me wrong, I did think about framing my poetry before, but I was thinking more about the frame than about the words. That's how my Fishing Life Poem in a Frame came about:

        I personally designed and crocheted the frame cover!...But I never thought about the words to my poems being in my own hand-writing, framed, and then hung on the wall....maybe in groupings!!...Again, kudos to the creative mind behind that idea!!...I wonder if it's a poet?!
      The only other thing that really caught my attention...in the recipe section again of course...was recipes involving beets!!

        Beets!!....Maybe I really am quirky! Or about to become a vegetarian...Or it's that time.....! I'm not going to say it out loud!!! Or write it out loud!!! LOL I'll stick with quirky. ^_^
      Now, I could end this post right here and not tell you about the other magazine I got,...but then I wouldn't be me!! :-) But don't worry, I'm not gonna go on and on,  page after page, about my Roaman's magazine. I'm just gonna show you the two outfits in it that had me thinking that maybe I really am quirky....or a real trend-loving type of girl, (in other words, REALLY quirky! LOL)...or I just love flowers waaaay too much!

         I'm not that crazy about the neck-line of this dress, but I just love the hem-line!! So pretty!

       And I know you think I'm liking this bathing suit, but no 'Honey'! I LOVE this hat!!! I wish I had that in my repertoire!! I am, after all, "The Hat Lady"!!! ^_^ You can see all of my hats if you click on THIS POST that I did a while back....This is a repeat of the poem from that post too!

The Hat Lady

I have become 'The Hat Lady',
but that wasn't always the case.

I saw my size hat in the store.
"I'm not a hat girl", I had said,
but I can't deny it anymore.

Now I have hats made of straw,
in colors, with beads and tied string on the trim;
with tassels and felt, like cowboys,
and lace and fur on the brim.

I have become 'The Hat Lady',
a silly description, I know.
Cowboys die with their boots on-
but with a hat, is not a bad way to go!       

Wearing Many Different Hats

   Like most people, women especially, in my life I wear many different hats...literally and figuratively! Figuratively I have worn the hat of teacher, nurse, sister, friend, care-giver, baby-sitter, substitute mom, wife, cook, caterer, house-cleaner, chauffeur, masseuse, dog-walker, dish-washer, writer, craftswoman, and daughter.

   I even wore the hat of a telephone answering service worker at one time. I was trying, even then, to figure out how to get paid for doing what I love to do...TALK!  Problem was they gave me a very strict script that I was suppose to stick to. We all know that doesn't work for me! And also, I wasn't very good at making sure the right people got the right messages at the right time. Too many little papers.  But whatever! There were plenty other hats for me to wear.

   I'm sure there's more hats that I wore, but I can't think of them right now. Good thing, right?! :-) Anyway...I brought this up because of two reasons. One, I've been feeling my age lately, and slightly ...and I mean slightly...mourning the loss of some of the hats I use to wear. I kind of miss being frantically busy with kids (not my own, but siblings, friend's, and students) and having to run here and there to meet deadlines like I used to have to do. Crazy huh?! Now that I have all the time I used to crave...I miss all the time I use to crave to have time! LOL

    And secondly, I literally have so many hats that I have to get rid of them. (I mentioned my hat collection in an earlier post about my button collection.) Whenever we're talking about hats, this is the kind of hat conversation hubby and I have:

   "Ooooo! Look! Isn't that hat pretty?!"

   "Yeah, but stop looking at it! You have so many hats now that you don't know how many hats you have!!"

   "Oh, I wasn't going to BUY another hat. I'm just looking"

   "Good...How many hats do you have already anyway...Seriously?!...because we're running out of room in here, and some of them have to go!"

   "*giggle* I don't have that many. Ummmmm...about 8."

   " *Laughing hysterically!* Yeah right!!!"

   So, this led to me taking them out of the closet and doing a serious evaluation. And...he's right!!!...Yikes! Did I say 'He's right!' Yes I did!!!...I have waaaaay too many hats! So, some have to go. I need your help though. Which ones?!!!

   The one in my header picture is my Southern Expression hat. It's going nowhere! Let's just get that straight right now!! LOL But I have my sassy leopard hat with the side buckle.

    My warm knit 'comfortable-to-pull-on-anytime' hat.

   My simply brown hat that I could dress up or down. I wear this one when my hair is pulled back in a pony-tail.

   But these are good pony-tail hats too!

   And how can I get rid of my "Crochet Club Hat" that my friend had especially made for the group of us that were having a girl day every week to make blankets and afghans?!

   And this 'pony-tail' hat not only has turquoise stones in front...

   ...but it has one in the back...and a cute little cowboy leather dangle!

   Oh boy! This is getting hard!!!...I wear this with my dress up clothes.

   And this one too. It's real fur. It was given to me by a friend who inherited it from a relative. She reminded me how valuable it was, and told me I was getting it only because she couldn't wear it. Wrong size head or something....It has a hidden feature too...

   See it?! It's a little foot, right on top of the hat!...I KNOW!!!! I can't just throw this one away, right?!

Then there are the hats I made myself, that I kept. That hardly ever happens! I usually give away everything that I don't put up for sale in my shop. I liked the easy wearable-ness of these though.

   This orange and white one I kept just for the little tail on top! :-)

Whew!!! You tired yet?!....There's more! :-/ I've worn this one so much that my bead work is getting worn.

   I like it though because it takes me back to my Cherokee Indian roots a little...I just love the raspberry color of this one.

   I bought this one on the trip I told you about the other day, when we went to Maine.

    And lastly, the warmest hat EVER!!! It's not so cute, but living in Massachusetts in the colder months, I NEED this one!

Quite a collection, right?! So, help me, will ya?! And be honest! I can take it! I didn't take it that well from hubby because he himself has been a 'hat hound' over the years! I can't even tell you how many baseball type caps I've thrown away already!! I know he has a stash of them somewhere still...probably in the car, or in his work truck! These are a few of his favorites...the ones he admits he has...

    ...Whose? I don't know...and neither does he! But he loves it just the same!...And last, I promise!...are these two.

     Kinda glad he kept the rest of them hid, aren't ya?! LOL
