South Africa...'Virtual' Date Visit

Think delicious cabbage and potatoes, beef, rice, coconut banana pastry, and good music, and you have our date in a nutshell. :-] Hubby and I had a really good time! Actually, I should say it was a really good time...except for a bit of 'virtual' jet lag! Other than that, it was perfect! ^_^
As you can see in the header photo, and the photos below, I'm bringing a bit of South Africa to you too, here on the blog! :-) ...

The description under the beads in this shop says that "...Earthbutter Beads are hand rolled by single moms from a disadvantaged rural community near Cape Town, South Africa..."

That makes them even more beautiful to me! :-) The 'back story' of things always makes them more beautiful. Even beads, doesn't it? :-] ...
Actually that's true with many things in life. Not just beads. :-) Wouldn't you love to hear the 'back story' of these cars?...

Oh Yeah! All old timers have a 'back story'!!...including hubby and I! LOL
But some 'back stories', like the real 'back story' of our 'virtual' date last night, need to remain unspoken! ^_^ The real back story of our date showed just what old timers we are! ^_^ So I'll keep that story to myself! LOL But let's just say that a looooooooong nap was involved at some point! ^_^

Anyway!....As planned, I 'did' get to do some crocheting on the plane. :-) ...

Now I have some new boutonnieres to list in the shop! :-) ...

Today...WOW! It's Saturday already!!! O_O...is gonna be all about recovering from jet lag first of all! ^_^ And then...listening to the last day of a Jehovah's Witness convention on audio tape...Finishing the scriptures of my Watchtower for the study at the Kingdom Hall tomorrow...(If you don't understand what that's about, and you wanna know, just send me an email and I'll explain.)...Going to pick up some supplements...(we have to go out of state to get them because no place around us carries them, and we waited too late to order them online...OOPS!)...Doing some laundry and... Getting some paperwork together for another re-filing for health services...UGH!...Oh, the 'red tape'!!!!

So, that was the 'virtual' date that was, and this is the day that 'is'! :-) ... What did 'you' do yesterday, and what are 'you' doing today?! Do share!!...even if you think I wouldn't understand. ^_^
Our visit to 'virtual' South Africa reiterated to us that even though people are all from different places in the world, and speak different languages, we're all still a part of the same human race. And while we all have some of the same things in common...right now...language isn't always one of them! LOL
Thankfully food, and the mood of music has a language all it's own. :-) And we were able to 'understand' that language through some of the delicious food we ate, and beautiful music we heard. :-) I'll leave you with one of our favorite songs from last night below...We didn't understand all of the words. But we certainly understood it's sentiment. :-) I hope you like it.

Have a good rest of the day, and a good rest of the weekend, Everybody!! :-)

Another 'Virtual' Trip!

Another long trip abroad.
We're some 'virtual' traveling fools!
We revel in our 'virtual' jaunts,
but don't have to follow travel rules.

Our shoes stay on our feet.
In fact, sometimes we go without!
And what is all this measuring
and getting searched about?!

Yes, we travel everywhere,
and we never spend a dime.

AWESOME...Lettuce Eat Cake!

It's Friday!....Awesome!!!!! :-) Although I don't know why I'm so excited. It's just another day, right?!....Wrong! It's the end of the week....It's the day before the weekend starts....It's my 'virtual date night'...(my hubby and I go all over the world 'virtually' on our Friday Date Nights, for those of you new here...Example: HERE.  ^_^)...and we're going away again...Shhhhh! It's a surprise trip for hubby this time. :-)) ...With all of my sleep issues lately...or should I say LACK of sleep issues,...and hubby being so great about everything, I decided that I'm going to 'wife-nap' him tonight! ^_^ I may tell you about it later.

But since YOU all have been so awesome about coming to visit and read about all of my issues. I'm gonna make this an awesome Friday for two of you too! :-) I'll tell you about that in a minute. :-) ...Right now I'd like to share some things I found on Etsy that I think are pretty awesome...and things that I may or may not be thinking about for my 'Date Night' trip tonight! :-]
Because every date should start with a good looking pair of shoes...

     ...earrings...

      ...and a hat!

...And because every date should have something unexpected...

       ...and something to drink...

...and something to eat! :-)

No, none of this is telling you anything about where we're going..."So stop trying to look over my shoulder, hubby! LOL"...It's just my way of sharing the awesome Friday with you! :-)

Speaking of sharing, I want to share with you what I made yesterday...the creative brain with five whole hours of sleep was hopping! ^_^

It's a gold, white speckled button lapel pin...

I'm not selling this one though. Hubby wants it! :-) ..."Yeah, Shoulder-Looker-Overer, it's yours! LOL Maybe you can wear it tonight!"

I "am" gonna sell this one though!...

I know what you're thinking: "Hey! It's not a flower!".....I KNOW!! That surprised me too! ^_^

What can I say..I was in a square black and white kinda mood! :-)

We'll have to wait and see when and if somebody buys it, if I'm the only one in a square black and white kinda mood! :-))

But right now I don't wanna talk about buying. I wanna talk about giving something away! :-) It's been a while since I did. And since Fall is right around the corner....and because YOU all have been so awesome!...and because I'm in the mood...I'm giving away two...count 'em...2 of my long remnant scarves! :-)

This one is one of the Giveaway scarves. I call it "Foggy Lettuce"...

And this one is called "Chocolate Cream Cake"...

All you have to do to receive one of them is leave me a message below telling me which one you'd like, lettuce or cake, :-) and let me know how to contact you if you win! :-) And you can post about it on your social sites if you like too....Oh....and you only have until midnight tomorrow to do that...Saturday (EST). I'll be doing the drawing then....By the way, I'll send them anywhere you live!

Sooo...this Friday is pretty awesome, right?!......Right! :-) And if that didn't do it...go out a make it a good one, Everybody! ^_^

A 'Virtual' Date Night To A Place With "Color" In It!

We had no intention of going there this week!...to our eventual 'virtual' date night destination, I mean...Denver Colorado...We had intended to 'chill out', eat some cake, play Scrabble, and watch reruns of some T.V. shows we missed this week...But, as I was toodling around, as usual, doing some blog reading, I came across Priscila Peters Decor's blog post about her move to Denver by the end of May...and I realized that that's one place hubby and I haven't been...I don't think we have anyway. O_O My memory is getting sketchier and sketchier these days....HORMONES! UGH!

So we decided, on the spur of the moment, to take a little trip! :-) I mean...Scrabble and cake will always be available for our date nights. I'll make sure of that! LOL But Denver....and Colorado?!...and Mexican food...which it just so happens that Denver is well known for?...*Colorado Burrito, green and red chile sauce, Tamales, Rocky Mountain oysters and the Denver omelet! YUM!*...Those things needed to be experienced NOW!!...and so we did! :-)

We got into the Denver Airport...

...an interesting looking place in its own right!...

...and headed off to 'get our virtual date on' in Denver! ^_^

In our travels, we learned some interested things about Denver too! For instance:...

--> Denver is nicknamed the Mile-High City because its official elevation is exactly one mile or 5,280 feet above sea level.

--> And that Denver’s climate is very sunny...averaging 300 days of sunshine a year!...Also, that July, the month of our wedding anniversary, by the way! :-) ...is the warmest month of the year there.

Sounds to me like the perfect weather for growing flowers! :-) Although Summers range from mild to hot, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms...Thunderstorms are 'not' so good for growing flowers!

--> Did you know that the Denver Pavilion, off the 16th Street Mall is a popular arts, entertainment and shopping center in downtown Denver.

--> We also learned that Denver is home to many nationally recognized museums...

--> And that it's home to many sports teams...Lacrosse, hockey, major league soccer, the Denver Nuggets National Basketball Association and The NFL's Denver Broncos football team! :-) ...

          I can almost smell a 'tail-gate party'. Can't you?! ^_^

We also found out a couple of other interesting tidbits about Denver. Like, for instance, that some famous people from the entertainment world came from there!...
--> The actor/screen writer/director and producer Douglas Fairbanks; The actor famous for his gruntTim Allen (of "Tim, the Toolman, Taylor" fame), Jan-Michael Vincent, and  Duane "Dog" Chapman (of "Dog, the Bounty Hunter" fame) were all born in Denver Colorado!

--> And the sweetest thing I learned was that my beloved candy company, Russell Stover Candies Inc., made its first chocolate candy in Denver in 1923! :-) ...They moved to Kansas City in 1969, but I ain't mad at 'em. With candy as good as that...you have to stay on the move! LOL
Ah, yes! Denver...we love you! ♥ And even though this was a quick, spur of the moment, break from Scrabble and cake, trip.....we'll be back!! :-)

We're thankful to be back home...even though its gonna rain for the next 4 or 5 days here in Holyoke... O_O ...Grrr! WHATEVER!!!!....I've got crochet necklaces to make! :-] And maybe some pictures to take too. (Rainy days are the best for taking pictures...so at least all this rain is gonna be good for something! ^_^) ..Have a good weekend, Everybody! :-)

Bull's Eye!....Caught 'MY' Attention!!

I don't know why some things catch my attention more than others...unless it's tennis! I know why tennis catches my attention. It's because I used to be sort of an athlete. Well, if you can call the kind of game playing where you beat your husband on the basketball and tennis courts every weekend, and playing first string basketball in High School, being an athlete!...I do!! LOL
Tennis aside, sometimes the other things that catch my attention are beyond explanation...like, for instance, circles and bulls eyes. WHY?!!!...I don't know. But they always do! Could the short stint in High School when I learned how to shoot a bow and arrow be the answer?...O-U-C-H!...My forearm still hurts just thinking about it!!
Who knew that the little leather forearm thingee that they make you wear when you shoot your arrow...the little forearm thingee that's suppose to stop the backlash of the bow string from burning your skin off when you let go of the arrow...was only for decoration!!................O-U-C-H!!!............Yeah! That could be why my eyes get big every time I see a bulls eye alright!! LOL
Anywho!...Let me show you some bulls eye items I found...and the button inspiration they gave me! :-) ...

Are you seeing circles yet?! ^_^ I am! In fact, I'm seeing circles all the time! They jump out at me all over the place!...No! I'm not drinking anything alcoholic, and I'm not on any mind-altering medication, and I don't see little green men or talk to myself either!...Wait a minute! I may be talking to myself right now!! O_O
WHATEVER!!!...Ha! Ha!....As I was saying...maybe to myself!...circles and bulls eyes always catch my attention. In fact, I just noticed that in my button stash I have a lot of bulls eye-like buttons!...This one, on one of my crochet necklaces, is in my Wuglyees shop right now!...

And if you saw my post yesterday you know that I made a crochet flower that I 'went-a-hunting' for a button for. This one...
Well, I found one! And guess what it looks like?!...Go ahead....GUESS!! LOL

It's a bulls eye looking heavy metal button!...I love this button too! I owe a 'Thank You' to my girlfriend that recently gave me this button. I talked about it on the post HERE. Because of the vintage button, I'm not gonna just give it away as a free gift (I give free gifts to every customer that buys something from my shop). But I can't decide whether I want it to be a necklace, a brooch, a hair comb, or what!...Any ideas?!...That is, if anybody is out there! O_O I could still be talking to myself!!
By the way, Mr. Wug got some pictures of my blue circle scarf...the one I made to match the blue hat (which is already in my shop HERE). He stuck 'headless Tina'...(No! I'm not a mentally sick person! ^_^ Tina is my scarf model!)...out there in the snow yesterday and took them...

Hubby takes such a good picture, in my opinion. {And yes! I may be a little biased!} ^_^ Even the snow didn't mess it up! ^_^
Speaking of snow, we got some more of the 'white stuff' last night. In fact, we're due to get a few more snow showers over the next couple of days. It's snow...but it's still not much snow, considering what we usually get this time of year! And I'm not complaining about it either!! LOL
And as long as it doesn't snow on my study books, my telephone, my computer, my crocheting or on my T.V. (where I wouldn't be able to watch my tennis!...*gulp!*), it can snow all it wants!! ^_^ ...Besides, we're going somewhere really hot for our 'Virtual Date Night' tonight anyway! If you're guessing...this one won't be hard to figure out!! ^_^ I'll tell you all about it tomorrow though.
Have a good day Everybody!! :-)
