What Would My Cat Be Saying Right Now?!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/162916049/cat-photo-5x7-tabby-cat-eyes-fine-art?ref=favs_view_2

I love to see photos of animals where you can almost see your own words coming out of their mouth. :-) ... Obviously, animals can't talk...or, at least, not in 'my' language!... ^_^ ...but if they could...and if I had one right now (which I don't! LOL)...what would my kitty cat be saying about me, watching tennis at all times of the day and night?! LOL
If the cat in the header photo were mine, it would be saying: "Seriously?!...how much longer is this gonna be on?!!!...Ugh!"

And if the cat below were mine, it would be saying: "Why are those humans hitting that ball like that?!...I wonder what that ball did!....I hope I didn't do it!!"...

Or...I could have a pet that just likes tennis as much as I do! ^_^ A 'watching partner'!! :-) ...

I already know that my backyard bird friends are 'watching partners'! ^_^ We watch each other all the time!!...

Anyway...back to tennis! :-) I just wanted to take a minute and share some beautiful photos from this shop. She's fa-bu at taking photos!!!!...You can check out the rest of her photos HERE...ENJOY!!! :-) And have a good rest of the day too!!

Animals Everywhere

There are animals everywhere,
out-numbering husbands, kids and wives.
Do you see them when you travel?
Do you have some in your lives?

The chickens in the yard
step and jut their necks in stride;
Cackling birdie conversation
as you throw seed side to side.

Horses gallop down the hill,
through the field outside the gate;
Along the beach edge of the water
their strong legs will dominate.

All their waking hours
kittens tumble, jump and leap;
Then they curl up anywhere,
purr and breathe a peaceful sleep.

Baby chicks will follow
right behind their Mama's wings.
But they sometimes get distracted,
and their Mama's "Cluck!" then rings.

Doggies know their station.
They're secure in who they are.
They unguardedly will love you.
Just as quick, they'll chase a car.

There's many things that we can learn
by just watching what they do.
But let's not imitate their aggression,
and their need to balk and chew.

Let's recognize where we're alike.
Both of our constant needs for love,
And there is food, shelter, attention,
and much more we could speak of.

Yes, there are animals everywhere,
out-numbering husbands, kids and wives.
Giving lessons by example,
and so much meaning to our lives.

Let's Talk About Cardinals And Thrill Seekers!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/172926330/market-bag-shoulder-bag-adjustable?ref=favs_view_1

My blog conversation about cardinals and thrill seekers doesn't have anything to do with that beautiful bag in the header photo. :-) I just saw a bird on it, and saw that pretty color, and just had to share it! ^_^ ...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/172926330/market-bag-shoulder-bag-adjustable?ref=favs_view_1

Of course, the fact that I was thinking about my backyard cardinals this morning, and when I scrolled Etsy's activity feed, there was something with a bird on it, might've had 'something' to do with it! ^_^

This morning there are no cardinals at the suet feeder though. I think the snow...Yep! About 6-8 inches of it!!...might've turned them away. O_O They're probably huddled up in some make-shift bird Hotel somewhere, cooing sweet nothings in each other's ears! LOL
I guess the other little birds aren't that particular about where they spend snow storms. :-) There are quite a few little ones, all colors and shapes, going back and forth to the feeder right now...I think hunger may have been their real motivation! :-)) Yeah....hunger tops snow storms every time!!

But yesterday?!...There were birds all here together. Including chickadees and male and female cardinals!...

I couldn't believe it when I looked out the window!!!...

There they all were, taking turns pecking away! :-) ... And then the chickadees left...and the cardinals stop pecking...and just sat and 'hung out' with me for a while! :-) ...

The female cardinal just sat on the feeder facing left...

While the male cardinal sat in the tree close behind her, facing right! :-) ...

And I just sat in the room staring at them with my mouth hanging open, and my eyes trying to tear up...facing out! :-) It was a special and beautiful moment for me...

What can I say...I'm easy to please. Just give me a window and some birds to look at, or some background noise of tennis balls being whacked back and forth across a net, or some pretty music to listen to, or a husband that plays an air guitar in his socks and long Johns, and I'm good!! LOL
Just because there's tons of white stuff on the ground doesn't mean you have to be a 'thrill seeker'! ^_^ Who needs to be barreling down some tall mountain slope on some long skis that have been waxed within an inch of their life, or bundled up in nine layers of clothing and be dragged around the yard on a sled, or be racing through the woods on a skidoo, dodging trees and hilly mounds?!....NOT ME!!!! ^_^
Give me a cup of hot green tea, some hot breakfast consisting of leftover pork and gravy over some grits, a female cardinal that just returned to the feeder...RIGHT NOW! :-) ... and a pair of black mittens that have just sold in my shop, and need to be wrapped to ship! :-) Yep! Happiness is!
The only bad part of this whole scenario is that we just got a call that, because of the weather, our meeting for today has been cancelled. :-( ... Oh well, I still have cardinals, other birds, a singing hubby, and lots of white stuff!! ^_^ I'll just have to make do!...Have a good rest of the weekend, Everybody! ♥

All My Plans Unfurled

With all my plans unfurled today,
and nothing urgent pressing me,
I might crochet another scarf
or have a steeping cup of tea.

I might watch an old movie,
or take a nap, just for a minute.
Or I might take out a book to read,
or jot a few nice words down in it.

When you don't have any children,
and no job to do from home.
You can stay in your pajamas,
and have hair you don't have to comb.

Yes, with all my plans unfurled,
there could be lots that I could do.
It's always true...I could be busy,
but kinda nice I don't 'have to'!

I Think The Birds Took It Down!!...I Saw The Tracks!

If you look closely at the header photo you'll be able to see that the extended feeder arm, where the bird suet usually hangs, has no feeder. O_O Nope! No feeder there!...It has no feeder!...It has no chain!....It has no hook!....and it has no birds!! O_O
Just for the record, I have to say: "I knew it!...It was bound to happen eventually!!"...There were so many birds in, around, and on that feeder that it was bound to come tumbling down!!...One minute the feeder was there....and the next minute I looked  out the window, and it wasn't there!!...***Between you and I, I think it might've been those large cardinals that took it down!...all sitting on there at the same time***
At any rate, the feeder was on the ground, and so were lots and lots of tracks!......everywhere...all around the feeder!!...Sorry, but I just couldn't take a photo of my poor sad feeder laying in the 'white stuff'!...Okay, the truth is...hubby took a picture of it, but it wasn't distinguishable. ^_^ Instead I got LOTS of bird tracks!! LOL...

And the neighborhood cat's tracks (above)...and more bird tracks (below)...

...and bird tracks mixed in with cat tracks! LOL...

Or at least that's what we 'think' the tracks are! ^_^ Since we weren't there, it's all a case of circumstantial evidence! LOL...You know, black cat seen prowling the perimeter of the backyard shortly after finding the feeder down...Confused black-capped chickadees in the tree, watching the ground, and every movement of the cat! LOL...and of course, the tracks everywhere! :-)
Before we saw the feeder on the ground, I was entertaining mental images of a hawk grabbing the chain off of the hook, and toting the whole contraption through the Massachusetts skies, off to his nest up on a cliff somewhere around here! Ha! Ha! Ha!...My mistake was repeating that too my husband. LOL He's still teasing me about it this morning!!!! ^_^ ... I mean...I'm not teasing him about playing his air guitar while singing an off-tune version of 'Hot Blooded' on our date last night!...just saying! LOL

Anyway!!! ^_^ The feeder is back up!...

....And while there's still bird tracks everywhere!...

...and bird tracks mixed in with cat tracks! :-] ...

...Things are back to normal in the backyard. :-) ...

The suet feeder is swinging in a slight breeze...

And I'm sitting here, sipping on my green tea while watching the weather forecast of the bad storm that's due to hit us hard tonight. O_O ...*sigh*...We're due to get more white stuff. Somewhere between 5 and 14 inches...Ugh!
"Don't look at the weather, Wug...Look at the feeder!!" ^_^ ...

      "Look at it closely!!" LOL

Have a good weekend, Everybody!! :-)

Happy Weather People

Weather people are so happy!
So excited about their maps!
Always smiling on the T.V.,
like there's sunshine in their laps.

They're a chitty chatty bunch.
Talking radars and jet streams.
Strangely when the weather turns
their eyes glaze over, and face beams.

I don't know how they are so happy
when there's snow and rain and sleet;
When they do outdoors reporting,
smiling, while with soaking feet!

The places that they go
are where most folks are running from!
Are they brave, selfless informants,
 or just really, really dumb?!

I cannot imagine
how they hold their heads up high,
when most folks can't stand their forecasts,
and they make folks want to cry.

They seem so proud and happy;
Fancy ties and great hair-dos!
Disgruntled comments bounce right off,
as do our frequent hiss and boos!!

The conclusion that I've reached
is that they have a 'Happy Gene'.
But, no doubt, they would just say
that they're reporting what they've seen.

Hey! They were not there
when wind and force moved things around!
But they're happy to be able
to now tell us where it's bound!

It's Thursday!...Abstract Photos Of Birds Day!! :-]

Hello 'White Stuff' lovers! :-) If you had been here when I opened the bedroom blinds this morning, I'm sure you would have shrieked with joy! :-] We got some of the 'white stuff' overnight. Not much!...but enough to bring a smile and a little awed sigh from 'white stuff' lovers everywhere, I'm sure. ^_^
I have to admit...I did a little shriek of joy myself! ^_^ But not because of the blinding 'white stuff'! It was because of the vision of my suet feeder swinging and moving around with a....BIRD!...on it! :-) ...

And before you yell at me for trying to pull off the above photos as actual photos of birds...Ha! Ha!...let me add a disclaimer here!...I didn't take the photos!!! ^_^ Oh No! I'm not taking credit for these!!! LOL
These 'abstract photos'...as he calls them...were the product of an excited, not quite fully awake, no eyeglass wearing, husband!...who shall remain nameless. But I think you know who I mean!! :-))
I have been complaining for days about the fact that we haven't gotten NOT ONE bird to the feeder since we hung it!!...and then this morning!... O_O ...it's as if someone hung a BIRDS, THIS WAY, Birdie 'Holiday Inn', sign on the suet!!! ... Every bird in the eastern seaboard is here!!!! O_O I'm not kidding!!!...If you can look through the abstraction of the photos below, you'll see what I mean!....***as more birds are dancing and flitting and flying outside the window right now as I'm typing this!!*** :-)

      And yes!...that 'IS' a cardinal!!! :-) ...

Actually there were THREE cardinals!!!...They all showed up together!!!!! :-) Two males, and one female!...Shocking!!!!...

Because I know it's so 'abstract' that you can't really tell...I'll tell you!...the above 'abstract photo' of a bird...is a female cardinal! :-) The males were dropping food down to the ground and she was gong up and down picking it up from there!! :-) ... My type of girl!! LOL...

Other birds waited, and took turns coming, in between the cardinal's arrivals and departures. :-) ... This led to an epiphany for my husband as to why people use the expression 'pecking order' Ha! Ha!...He said it without realizing it..."WOW! It's as if they have a pecking order." O_O ...And then he got that look on his face that people get when they've reached a definite moment of clarity...Then he said: "Ohhhhhhh! That's where that expression comes from...Pecking Order!!!!!!!" ^_^
For about the next 15 minutes, he was at one with the birds out the window. ^_^ I knew there would be no reason for me to try to talk to him about what our schedules are today, or breakfast, or the fact that he needed to put some clothes on, or nothing!! LOL...Anyway, birds have seen men standing in windows with pajama bottoms and shirtless before, right?! ^_^ ..

It made me wonder who was more fascinated with whom...when the cardinal started checking out our window!! LOL...

Oh Well, onward to Thursday, People!! ^_^ And have a good one!! :-)
