1,000 Blog Posts!!...Writer's Block?...What's That?!! ^_^

Back on April 29, 2010 I did my very first blog post. Who knew back then that it would lead to an every day conversation?!...I didn't! That's not necessarily what I intended when I got started. I had intended to just talk a little, share some of my poetry and crocheted items, and maybe draw some attention back over to my 'Wuglyees' Etsy shop!
I still like doing that! ^_^...But somehow, as time went on, I got into a kind of groove...and just like I did with my daily diaries that I used to jot down 'this and that' in on a daily basis...mostly to myself...I got into a regular daily habit of talking!...That's one of my favorite things to do....TALK!...as if you didn't already know that!! ^_^
Have I ever had 'writer's block'?...No, I've never had it. At least not so far!...Honestly, I didn't actually know what 'writer's block' was!...

...except maybe a place to hold your pens and pencils with style! ^_^

I had to go over to 'Wikipedia' to find out what the 'other' writer's block was! LOL...It says that 'writer's block' is...

'a condition, primarily associated with writing as a profession, in which an author loses the ability to produce new work. The condition varies widely in intensity. It can be trivial, or a temporary difficulty in dealing with the task at hand...At the other extreme, some "blocked" writers have been unable to work for years on end, and some have even abandoned their careers.'

Uhhhh...Number one...I don't write as a profession...I sometimes wish I did! But I don't...Think of the money I could be raking in for running my mouth!! LOL...But no...I don't write professionally. And if I did...I wouldn't want anybody critiquing me about it! Grrrr!...That's probably why I don't do it professionally! ^_^
That's also probably why I've never had 'writer's block'! I'm not tense about writing my thoughts down. I know that nobody's paying me for what I say, and nobody is gonna grade me as to whether it's 'good enough' so that the presses can get off on time! :-] It's just ME....talking about whatever I want! No pressure! :-)
Besides...if I ever got 'writer's block'...I'd probably write something about it! LOL

Going back to the definition for 'writer's block'...I never lose the ability to produce new work. Producing new work, 'word-wise' I mean, is my middle name!! ^_^ And 'trivial' conversation is why! I mean who does 'trivial' better than me?! LOL...I've talked about me being a 'button nut'...I've talked about my love of hats...I've talked about my 'Plastic Monster'...I've talked about my love of Motown...Well, MUSIC really! :-)...I had a "Say What You Need To Say" day where I shared the letter to my dad...I talked about whining...I even shared my little chat with 'Baby Wuglyee' (my crocheted bear)!! ^_^ I even brought you all along when I learned how to do a tunisian crochet stitch...Oh! The things I've talked about here on the blog!!! :-) ...Trivial extraordinaire!!! LOL

So I'll end my 1,000th blog post....WOW! 1,000!!...by saying THANK YOU to all of you who have come along for the ride! :-) Thank you for reading my lengthy, silly words, and for sharing some of yours! :-)
As a true THANK YOU I'd like to send one of my poems to one of you...free of charge. A GIVEAWAY of sorts! ;-) You choose the poem, or I can send you this one...

Just write me a comment...a word or two...below. It's just a one day...1,000th day...Giveaway. :-) I'll draw the name and let you know who won tomorrow! :-)

Okay, off I go to use my fingers a while now...crocheting!! :-) That's something else I've done a lot of talking about!...But right now I'm all out of words!...at least I am for the moment! ^_^

Mind-Less Talk

Lack of communication
is like a fall without the 'Splat',
like a brim without a hat,
and like a 'This' without a 'That'.

Without two minds that think as one
there is a start, but there's  no end,
there is a tear, but there's  no mend.
There is a foe, but there's  no friend.

When there's  no mental harmony
its like a sunset where there's  no night,
its like a bark where there's  no bite,
its like a wrong where there's  no right.

Without communication
its like a coat put on in June,
and a song sung out of tune;
A band-aid on a bullet wound.

And if you get it right
its like a talking symphony.
Its like the bumble , with the bee.
Its like no 'You', but always 'We',
because your heart they truly see.

Do I Talk Too Much?!...O_O

Do I talk too much?! ^_^ ....Okay...so maybe I already know I talk more than the average non-poetic person! But is it too much?! O_0 Just wondering because of something I heard someone say recently. Not about me. It was about themselves. But still...it got me to wondering!
My life is an open book. Yep! Not many secrets here! LOL Wait!...I do have a few. But only a few!...Mostly I feel like 'What's the big mystery?' We're all so much alike...no matter where we live or how much money we have...or don't have!...that it's kinda scary anyway!!
Maybe it's my upbringing. I'm from Georgia (U.S.), and southerners are notorious for telling you all kinds of things about themselves that you probably don't want to know! LOL They'll talk you to death!! ^_^
Have you ever tried to quietly shop in a small convenience store in the south?!...MISSION IMPOSSIBLE!! ^_^ Georgians will ask you so many questions that they'll have you wondering: 'Why did she ask me that?!'...And later, 'Why did I tell her all of that?' ^_^
Well, if you're me, an 'open book' kinda girl...and a Massachusetts resident transplanted from Georgia (I've found that Massachusians are notoriously quiet about themselves O_0)...you find keeping your life a mystery almost as hard as trying not to yawn if you see somebody else do it!!
But, on the good side, if you're used to writing down every syllable of thought you ever have, then it makes for some good conversation and sharing, and a peaceful stress-free empty head!...Wait! What am I saying?! LOL What I mean is that nothing stays with me too long. I say what I need to say and.....move on! ^_^
I was thinking about that when I saw this beautiful...and I mean BEAUTIFUL...writing journal (above)!! What a beautiful place to write down every random thought you ever have, huh?! :-) ...I hadn't intended to show this to you today. I had intended to show you some more things from the package I received over the weekend!...I still will, but once I spotted this, it HAD to be first!!
            Isn't it exquisite?! :-]
I could do a lot of talking in a book like this! :-)
The etsy shop owner has great feedback in his shop about his work, and he makes other beautiful things too. Look at this eyeglass case!!...
Oh! Beautiful!....Now you see what I mean about me and talking. *Teehee* I write as I think, and I think about all kinds of things....randomly!...Maybe I do talk too much! O_O
But then again, if I hadn't talked about this...would you have found it on your own?!...So my talking is...as my grandmother used to say...'six of one, half a dozen of the other' or 'Come-see, Come-saw'! LOL In other words...WHATEVER!! ^_^
Okay....on to my package!!...You probably saw yesterday that in the top of the box I received was these little fishes swimming around on something! :-)
I think it's a bath set. It appears to be two flannel-like washcloths and a little towel! :-)
Can you tell I don't have any kids?! *Teehee* I'm not exactly sure that's what it is!!! *shaking my head*...And I'm not exactly sure what shop it came from either. It wasn't directly labeled. It was just in the box. (Unless in my haste to open everything I lost it off of it! O_O If so, I'm sorry. Whoever made it...please let me know and I'll credit you. Thank you!)
I can tell you one thing...it's soooooo soft! I may have to give it to someone with kids. It would be a shame to let all of those soft colorful fishies go unappreciated! :-)
Okay....next in the box was this cute little pin...
It's small enough to put in the middle of a fun crochet brooch of mine. We'll see!...I also got some larger pins too...
I didn't wanna look at the fronts again. SCARY!!!! LOL But very well made. Thank you scary pin making person! ^_^
       And last for today...
...It's a medium size handmade flannel hat! :-)
         Again....sooooo soft! And something I'm going to have to....unfortunately....give away. It's for a 19 inch head. Mine is definitely a 22 inch head....DEFINITELY!! LOL {It's all the words that are tucked inside there! LOL}
I was trying to show you how soft it is. Can you see it in this picture?!...I'm so appreciative! But I really may need to share some of these with some of you!! :-)
But this is nowhere near all of the things that were in the box!! Tomorrow...the jewelry I got!! :-) ...Until then...wanna go shopping with me? In a Georgia convenience store perhaps?! I'd love to find out some more about you?! ^_^

Tools!

Has anybody ever asked you what tools you used for your craft? Frankly, until I was asked about it I hadn't really given that much thought to what, or why I use the tools I do. I just use them! But since I have this blog,...(don't you feel special now, getting all of this valuable information?...*stop that yawning!*),...I figured I'd take a post and talk about it.
My header picture today is the case of crochet hooks I use. As you can see, some are missing. That's because I use them so much I don't have time to put them in and out of the case. They're my "Got your back" set...LOL
...These are the ones I use most of the time. I make all of my jewelry with these 4 hooks: D, E, F, and G...I use the smaller ones for my delicate thread,...the good stuff!
If you'll notice, the hook heads are a bit flatter than what a lot of crocheters use. Especially newer crocheters. They like the big loop head on the end because the yarn doesn't slide off so easy when you're making something. But I prefer these. They go in and out of my work so easily that I actually could crochet with my eyes closed! I guess after all these years I've developed a "feel" for it...I was going to show you a picture of the comparison, but...I gave the others away!
I do have other crochet hooks though, really big wooden ones, like this...
...I use these for making my scarves. Most of them anyway. I don't have to do a gauge (a sizing method to determine what size hook or yarn to use) with my scarves. So, this style of hook works great. All I have to do is measure left to right as to how wide and long I want the scarf to be. All I need for that is this...
And don't laugh at my tape measurer either! I know it's not a sewing measurer! LOL I don't care! This one works for me...I have the wimpy loose tape measure around here somewhere...in a box with an echo coming out of it! ...but I don't like it. I like using this one, because it snaps back after I finish measuring everything, and I don't have to lay my work down to measure it! Works great when I'm measuring my flower necklaces on the chain.
I have a few other tools I use too, like elastic cord, which I use in some of my hats. I crochet over it in the edges of the hats so that they fit a bit better...and last a bit longer. Don't you hate a hat that after one or two washes gets all loose and doesn't fit anymore?!
I also use regular sewing thread occasionally, for sewing on buttons that have a very small opening, to attache them to my projects.

These are the needles I use to attache yarn and crochet thread. There's even a couple of plastic needles in there.I don't like to use them though. The metal ones slide easier...(I just figured out that I have a "thing" about things sliding easier!!)
I keep this small container of metal needles close by all the time...
...It has the ones I use most of the time...And the red thing is the little wire loop "thingee" you use to draw a piece of thread or yarn through a small button opening so you can sew it on. I have a bunch of them. The little wire doesn't last long with all of my threads and yarn and so forth. It was meant to be used strictly for 'sewing thread', I think. But I re-fashion just about everything. Why not a re-fashioned wire "thingee"?! LOL
Another 'MUST HAVE" are my scissors...
I even have an electric pair for when my hands are not in the best of shape...
I have arthritis in them. Gripping small objects hurt on rainy days...All I have to do with these scissors is slide a little lever and bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! I'm back in business!...Now, except for a pen and paper to write down rows and stuff, that's all of my tools!
Wait! I do have this in my tool box...
It was given to me a looooong time ago. It came from someone's stash, a lady who has long since passed away. Frankly, I don't know what it is! But because I loved her, and I know how much she loved to sew and crochet, I keep it. One day I'm going to re-fashion some way to use it...and then wait for somebody who knows what it is to see me using it in some obscure way and start laughing hysterically! LOL Won't bother me a bit!! Their laughter will just lead to knowledge of how to use it! :-)
I have some other NEW tools. I haven't completely learned what they are, or how to use all of them yet. I bought them because I'm starting to get into jewelry making to accent my crochet pieces. This is my main tool set...
...When I first opened it up I thought, "Exactly what profession am I trying to get into here? This looks like a manicurist's set!" But it's not. And I'd hate to see the nails on the poor person that needed a set like this! I might have been able to use it on my hubby's toenails....if he had any!! LOL
Okay, you can sit up straight now. I'm done...And stop that yawning!!!
