Treasures And Updates!...Here We Go!!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/155227790/personalized-family-gift-custom-stone?ref=favs_view_5

I'm stopping in with a quick update on my crochet shawls, and also to share a treasury that Ana, of KEENbyAM, included my wedding flower pin set in! I can't stay long. I have a meeting tonight! So here goes!...

I'm hoping I can find me a good shawl model to help me take good photos of the shawls when they're completely done, because these close up shots...especially of the black and white one...just don't do it justice!...Are there any Tyra Banks or Heidi Klum 'wanna-bes' out there?! ^_^ ...

Thankfully taking pictures of my small crochet flower pins doesn't require a Christie Brinkley or Cindy Crawford model!! LOL...Although I wouldn't mind having them shown off by a good male model! :-) I guess, for now, I'll just be thankful I have my six-foot 'hunk-a-modeling-hubby'! ^_^
The crochet pins below are the ones Ana chose for her treasury...minus a male model! ^_^ ...

She picked some other great items for her treasury too. Click on the treasury above and go check it out if you like! :-) ... Here are the ones that caught my eye...besides my flower pins I mean. :-) ...

Okay...off to eat a little seafood salad, and get a quick nap before my meeting!! See you tomorrow! ♥

What do YOU talk about?

What do YOU talk about
when you don't have much to say?
A short phrase about the weather?
Or the 'fine'-ness of the day?

Do you ask: "How do you do?",
hoping they won't say a thing?
Or just say: "Call me tomorrow",
hoping that the phone won't ring?

Do you lend yourself to grins,
and slight noddings of the head,
knowing big smiles and eye contact
would make you committed to what they said?

What do YOU talk about
when your 'talker' is 'on the blink'?
Not hardly much at all.
Certainly not much as you would think!

Updates, Giveaway Winner, This,.......And A Lot Of That!!

No....it's not my hubby's hydrangea. In fact, my hubby doesn't have a hydrangea! This one belongs to Jen, from the blog theOutpost. It's a part of the update of what's going on in her garden right now. Isn't it just beautiful?!!!
Hubby thought it was!....Hubby also thought her sunflowers were beautiful too!
But he's not 'as' enamored with her sunflowers, because his own are growing pretty good now too!...At least 3 of them are!...I already shared some of the photos he took of them over the weekend. They are, as he called them,...his 'shy' sunflowers. ^_^
But this is a new photo of one of his sunflowers!...
Ain't nothing 'shy' about this one, y'all!!! ^_^
       Gorgeous,.....from far away!...or close up!! :-)
In other news, me and Miss Jane Austen are both in love now!! ^_^
      (PaintingPort)
          I am in love with this book!!!!!...I'm already up to Chapter 47!! {There's only 14 more Chapters to go!! :-(} I just got to the part where her sister Lydia took off with Mr. Wickham! Grrrrr! But Elizabeth now thinks, because of the wonderful way he's trying to support her through this bad time, that she might be in love with Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy! {YEP!!! I found out his first name!!! I never knew it before! ^_^}
And what a great book to have around the house to read on your 29th wedding anniversary!! ^_^ I've been reading it out loud. And hubby, as an anniversary gift to me, has been hanging around letting me read to him! LOL I say that jokingly because he loves this book too!!!
While he was folding laundry and cooking dinner yesterday.....{WHAT! You don't get that done for you on your 29th wedding anniversary?!!!! ^_^}...he had his ears peeled to hear what was happening next!! As a matter of fact, I got side-tracked a couple of times, answering blog comments, and he yelled from the other room:
"Ha! Ha! Ha! That Mr. Collins is so funny!!....Is Mr. Darcy gonna come to see Elizabeth while she's visiting there?!"...."What is...what's her young sister's name?!....gonna get herself into now?!!"...."Are you done reading?! :-( "
He was so funny!! He tried to pretend he wasn't all that interested, but he kept coming back in the room when I started reading again! LOL Between that, and the delicious casserole he made, it was a very very nice anniversary. :-] (I'll share the photos of what he cooked tomorrow!)
Now, as to the Giveaway, I shook up the box......And I shook it up some more.....and the name that popped up...{and it's strictly do to her persistent attention too, because most of the names in the box were hers!!...Made me happy she won it!}... was...
... Bee Happy!! :-) This little 'Wuglyees Baby' is all yours!!
I think I have your address already, but just confirm it for me, Okay! Send me an email HERE.
Now, for the new Giveaway....ending August 15, 2011...this is what it will be...
        I took it directly from my Wuglyees shop! I call it the 'Deborah' Tote Bag.  I've only ever crocheted 3 pocketbooks/Bags. This is one of them. The other two are HERE. Maybe it's my eclectic colors or something, but they haven't gotten much attention in the shop. Maybe it's time to get out of the pocketbook making business!.......Or start making more plain-colored ones.....YUCK! ^_^ {Besides.....you know how much I love doing linings!!! LOL}
Anyway!!......The info for the new Giveaway is HERE. You can see what to do over there!! :-]
I'm working on something that is 'NOT' a pocketbook!! ^_^ It's a black and white shawl/Scarf. These 'have' been getting a lot of attention in the shop! I'm gonna stick to what I know works in this department for now...Besides, I LIKE making them!! :-)
And just as a tease, I'll explain this....
       ...and this...
        (codysanantonio)
       .....tomorrow....maybe!!!! ^_^

Eclectic Tastes

I've got eclectic tastes.
Yes I do! That's what I said!
I'm not afraid of being different,
Country raised and city bred.

If it's pretty, then I'm in,
but just as fast I can be out,
because I don't like what the hoopla
about some things is all about!

I think different can be cool,
in many colors, not just white.
And not just worn by 'one such person',
with a body shape just right.

It's good to have 'eclectic' tastes,
and to just be who 'you' are!
But be careful, because 'eclectic'
quickly can become 'Too Far'!!

Wanna Know The News?!

I wanted to start my post today telling you what a good time we had in Paris last night, and about how delicious the shrimp, hot coffee with cream, and French crullers were! (the header photo is an up close and personal photo of one of these delicious 'babies'!)
I didn't want to start my post today with bad news,...but because of a heavy heart for the children, after watching the morning news, it's unavoidable. These are some photos from WWLP...
My condolences go out to all of the families of those injured and dead in the bombing in Oslo, and in the youth camp shooting on Utoya island, in Norway. :-( The last news report I saw, from WWLP,  said 7 dead and more than 90 injured in the Oslo bombing, (Some are calling this the deadliest bombing since WWII in Oslo)...
...and,  as of now, they are reporting 84 killed....Oh! the children...  :-( ...at the Youth camp on Utoya island in Norway...*sigh*
The photo below of the camp area  is from  CNN...
This photo (below) is from guardian.co.uk The Observer ...
I'm not going to say any more about it. :-( My poem below will tell you how I'm feeling...Moving on.
Thankfully, there is some 'good' news to tell you.  And yes...it's about 'ME'! LOL What else would I talk about here?! ^_^...except MORE French crullers!!!
I got an email saying my Salmon Orange Circle scarf was included in another Treasury!

Thanks to SandrasCardShop for including me!
Here's just a few of my favorites from this Treasury...Cotton Baby Booties.
     (IraRott)
       The cutest Chickadee Art Notecard.
     (TINYKITN)
And these Organza Fabric Flower Appliques.
Cute, huh?! :-] And I know she couldn't put her own items in her Treasury, so I'd like to show you one of the things I liked from SandrasCardShop too!
It's a Daffodil Embroidered Notecard! :-) ..........Of course it has a flower!! ^_^
Sooooooo......some bad news. And some good news!...And more good news!! The heat wave is suppose to break after today. YAY!!!
     (WWLP.com)
It got up to 101 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday y'all!!! `'_'` You could fry eggs on the sidewalk!!...Even my hummingbirds, 'little cuties', came to the feeders and sipped nectar from the drips forming underneath...instead of flapping their heat-exhausted wings right out there in the blaring sun! ^_^ It was as if they were old Southern women, fanning themselves in the shade, while sipping on a cool Mint Julep! LOL
My last bit of 'good' news today has to do with a beautiful photo...and you'll quickly know why I think it's beautiful!...shared by a customer!
I hope Donna doesn't mind me showing it to you....She said the nicest things about it too! :-) "Thank you so much Donna for being such a wonderful customer!!!"
And just so you all know, I'm especially pleased about this purchase because Donna Carrick is a writer, a mystery writer! (You can find her books HERE). It makes me very happy to know that one of my 'babies' is being worn by a 'lover of words' like me!! :-)
And she's from Southern Ontario too! :-) Remember 'the Paris of Canada'?!!....Good News. I sure could use some 'good' news today!
      {The video below was one I found this morning when I was looking for the original version of Anne Murray's song, 'A Little Good News'. I didn't know it had been re-made. I, myself, am politically neutral, but I feel the same way as the sentiments of the song below, about hearing 'a little good news'... }

And here's the poem I wrote too...(I'll try to be more peppy tomorrow) :-(

Who'll Remember The Children

Who'll remember how they trusted;
How they thought dad hung the moon?
How their little life is over,
and it happened waay too soon?

The laughter, play, and innocence
are gone when children die.
Replaced by mournful 'What to do?'
and an endless need to cry.

Who'll remember that they smelled like rain
and their eyes were just like glue?
Like their mothers and their teachers
and their childhood playmates do?

Their jerky dance-like movements,
and the jokes they couldn't tell.
Contagious smiles that sparked you up
when you weren't feeling well.

Who'll remember the precious children,
and the way they used to be?
God will! They're in his heart and mind,
and in his memory.

It's Update Saturday-Week In Review!

I'll start my updates today by telling you that hubby and I had a nice romantic night of quiet for our Friday 'Date Night'. It was good to just be together. We'd been apart, texting each other all day because he left REALLY early yesterday for a bus trip to New York! He brought back lots of pictures too. More about that later! :-)
This is an update long over-do. My Delicate Composite and African Turquoise Flower Dangle Necklace...
...made it's way into Mistymornalpacas Treasury, entitled Winter Blues a couple of weeks ago at least now...I think! I found it by accident.
My little necklace was in good company there too! These were a couple of the other items in it...
Two rings, one being this Sterling Silver Mediterranean Blue Stacking Set, (that's made in your size)...
...and this Size 6 ROCK Fetish in Sky Blue Topaz and Sterling...both by onegarnetgirl.
And this cute Lovebirds Heart Shaped Handmade Pottery Planter or Mini Yarn Bowl...by DarriellesClayArt.
In my opinion, Mistymornalpacas could have had their own Koala Hat in there...
So, thanks to them for not giving us the winter blues, but instead giving us the Winter Blues Treasury! :-)
In other news, I finished a crochet project that I'm not sure what it is, or what it wants to be....YET!
I crocheted it with a hole in the middle, and with lots and lots of ruffles...
My initial thought was to make a picture frame, but as it got going...
       ...I couldn't see a picture frame! LOL I saw a bracelet maybe...
...or a base for a candle holder. But not a picture frame.
So, at the moment, it's a ruffly....SOMETHING!! ^_^ I'll figure it out sometime....or leave it for one of the kids to play with. They'll make it into something interesting, I'm sure! Kids have imaginations like that. :-)
In still other news, I increased the amount of time I spend in my ministry this month. That's a part of my life I don't talk an awful lot about on this blog. But this month was a special month of activity for Jehovah's Witnesses around the world. You may have already had some of my friends at your homes, with invitations to the upcoming Memorial of Christ's death. I won't get into it too much here, but if you're interested in more information, or have questions for me, just email me. I'll be happy to answer anything you want. :-)
In other....other news, {Ha! Ha! Okay, so I haven't got this update thing down yet!!! Stop laughing!!! ^_^} my father and brother-in-law appear to be coming along okay after their doctor's visits and surgeries. I say 'APPEAR' to be, because they're both of the male gender, and not too talkative. It's a generalization, I know, but men don't seem to want to talk about their ailments in the same way women do. Of course, there are exceptions I'm sure. My hubby being one of them! I have to shut him up about it listen patiently when he starts to tell me all about how he's feeling. ;-)
Except for times like yesterday! I REALLY listened to how he was feeling then...when he came back from his bus trip!!
Him and a bunch of my friends from my congregation went here....
I'll share more of the pictures with you tomorrow!
Okay, that's almost all I have to say....except that I also wrote a new poem yesterday. Not a fun and upbeat poem like my usual fare though. I watched Oprah yesterday. She was updating a story about a little boy that had been chained up in a closet when he was 6 years old. He was now in his 20s. The story of really what happened to him was so sad, and made me think about all of the children in the world that have had to deal with abuse at the hands of someone that was suppose to love them.
I couldn't help but write this poem. I hope it leaves you thoughtful and not sad...Have a good weekend everybody.

Abuse

When I'm all alone and thoughtful,
unaware of space and time,
there is a place I mentally go.
A place set deep in sorrowful rhyme.

I remember thoughtless people,
ones suppose to protect me;
Those who really 'dropped the ball',
and caused a hole where love should be.

No one should ever abuse a child;
or them man-handle or mistreat.
It's tough enough to be a kid,
with less experience, already beat.

Adults with selfishness of mind
don't appreciate the power they hold,
to change a little life,
or make a little ones blood run cold.

Also when I'm alone and thoughtful,
I remember the kindness I faced,
from friends and random neighbors,
upon whom I leaned and braced.

I remember thoughtful people,
ones who surrounded and cared for me.
Those who really 'caught the ball',
and put a patch, and love set free.

No child should ever be abused,
or treated as if dispensible.
No, you don't have to be related
to know that love is inflatable.

Adults with selflessness of mind,
who know what's right, are brave and bold,
can change a little life.
Sometimes their smiles are like fine gold.

So, when you're alone and thoughful,
give the kids you know a thought.
Be the one who is their hero,
not the one who really ought.
