Another Quiet Weekend Is In The Bag!

     I had big plans for this past weekend...to wash my hair, write a couple of important letters, make a dessert for a friend, watch an old movie, etc.... But guess how much of it I actually did?!.....NONE of it!! ^_^ Instead...I watched tennis, crocheted, spent some time teaching, watched some more tennis, ate some really good food, finished crocheting my mint green scarf, and watched some more tennis!! ^_^

     Below is the project I'm working on right now. In fact, it's almost done, except for the handles and maybe a big flower on the front. (I'm still debating about that. ^_^)...

      *Yawn*...This whole post is just a big yawn-fest, isn't it?! LOL...Sorry. But what can I say. There's nothing going on in my world that worth talking that much about! :-] Or, should I say, not worth talking about in such a public forum! I mean, I love to talk, but I'm not all 'social-media-crazy'!!! ^_^

     On that note, I'll leave today's post with the winners of the U.S. Open tennis championships! :-) Congratulations to Novak Djokovic...Maybe next year Roger Federer. :-(

      I'm stopping in with a quick update on my crochet shawls, and also to share a treasury that Ana, of KEENbyAM, included my wedding flower pin set in! I can't stay long. I have a meeting tonight! So here goes!...

      I'm hoping I can find me a good shawl model to help me take good photos of the shawls when they're completely done, because these close up shots...especially of the black and white one...just don't do it justice!...Are there any Tyra Banks or Heidi Klum 'wanna-bes' out there?! ^_^ ...
 

      Thankfully taking pictures of my small crochet flower pins doesn't require a Christie Brinkley or Cindy Crawford model!! LOL...Although I wouldn't mind having them shown off by a good male model! :-) I guess, for now, I'll just be thankful I have my six-foot 'hunk-a-modeling-hubby'! ^_^

Forgive Me For My 'TALKER' Being On The Blink!

      Look at this, Y'all! Two posts back-to-back!! ^_^ Yes, my 'talker' is getting back in shape! :-) I knew for sure this was the case when I woke up early this morning and I was mulling over lines to a new poem in my head!...I didn't write it down, but I'm happy to know that my words are now trying to get out again! ^_^

      My personality is still being worked on though! I know that because I said something to hubby this morning...something that I can't repeat, and don't want to repeat here on the blog, out of shame! O_O...and hubby said: 

        "Sooooo...what fruitage of the spirit are you working on today?...Orneriness?!" (= bad-tempered and combative. With synonyms like grouchy, grumpy, cranky, crotchety, cantankerous, and ill-tempered)...Uhhhhh...OOPS!! O_O ... *snaps finger out of disgust with herself!* ..And I did so good with self-control yesterday!!!...Oh well, back to the fruitage-of-the-spirit drawing board!! :-]

It's Monday!...But I'm Not Feeling Monday-ish!

      On Mondays I'm usually...like most of us, probably...physically dragging from the weekend...But not today! :-) For the first time in months the air here in Holyoke Massachusetts is cooler...There's a crispness in the air...and the air conditioner didn't have to be on through the night! YAY!!!...Fall is finally almost here...I think! 

      That's why...on a Monday, after a great weekend...I'm not feeling Monday-ish!...I'm feeling kinda Fall-ish! ^_^ You know...the Monday of FALL! :-) 

      The Fall Monday when you feel like pulling out the winter fruits and veggies...The Fall Monday when you feel like pulling out the hot apple cider or cocoa...

Gray...With A Little Lemon In It!

      Gray sometimes needs a little lemon in it, doesn't it?!... :-)...I know it 'does' when gray is preceded by a rain-filled sky like we had this morning...Yep! Rain, rain, wind, and more rain. That's what's happening in the backyard this morning.

      This is 'sorta kinda' good news for the backyard though, because YAY!!...it got rid of the snow! I can actually see the soggy lawn!! ^_^ ... Of course I also can see my bird feeder swinging in the wind like it's about to be a missile that's gonna take off...soooo...*blink! blink!*...therein lies the 'sorta kinda' of what kind of news it is! ^_^

       Speaking of news!...Lemon Gray news I mean!...One of my crochet necklaces made another treasury!...a treasury entitled 'lemon gray'! :-) ...

     Something else that took a little of the gray out of my morning sky this morning was my crazy/funny husband! LOL A simple conversation about the Super Bowl game this morning went places that made me wanna pee my britches and shoot water right out of my nose!!! LOL...And no...I 'CANNOT' share it with you....sorry. ^_^ But suffice it to say, my gray went a little lemony right on the spot!! :-] ...Lemony, as in it brightened up my day. :-] ...What were 'you' thinking?!... (tsk! tsk!) :-)

      I can share something else with you that came from my husband though!...I can share a photo of the tuna casserole he made the other night! :-) ...

      It's hard to make tuna casserole 'LOOK' good! But if I tell you that it had a little lemon and sharp cheddar cheese, a little bread crumb and peppers...does that help?! :-) ...
 

      And while it might not appeal to everybody, I loved the buttered baked potato he made with it too! YUM!!...Now today I'm sending him on a run for some chicken wings to make for the 'Big game' before they all run out! I hear there's a shortage this year. O_O What would a Super Bowl football game be without chicken wings?!!...I know.....Gray! :-]

Upside Down And OOPSY!!!

        I don't have a lot of time today. Hubby and I are 'going-a-visiting'! :-) A friend of ours is giving his first public discourse (talk) in a neighboring Kingdom Hall. Hubby is so excited, because this friend is someone he taught the Bible years ago. :-)

      But before I take off outta here I just 'HAD TO' show you the results of hubby's cake making yesterday!...He attempted an 'upside-down-pineapple-cherry-cake'!! Ambitious, huh?! ^_^ ... Well, as it turned out, the only part that ended up being accurate is the "upside-down" part. Ha! Ha!

       It fell over...upside down...in my bowl!! Ha! Ha!...Apparently, the brown sugar he needed to put on a certain layer of it....was missing! O_O ...In other words, he forgot to get it from the store....*Shhhhhhh!*...don't tell him I told you that part! ^_^

        So, in perfect "No Worries! I'll fix It" style, my hubby made the yellow cake part.....added a slice of pineapple....and some cherries topping, and WALLAH!!....pineapple upside down cake!!!....when it falls over in your bowl I mean. Ha! Ha! Ha!

        To his credit, his didn't fall over right away! :-) ...

        "Let 'em eat cake!!!" LOL....QUICK!!!

      Okay...I'm on the run! See you tomorrow...if hurricane Sandy doesn't blow us away!! :-)

WOW! I Have Nothing To Talk About!!

       Let's see...where am I going here?!...I woke up this morning and realized that I didn't have anything that I could talk about on the blog. That doesn't mean that I don't have things that I 'could' talk about. It just means that there's things that I 'could' talk about, and I sooooo want to talk about, but that I 'shouldn't', and I 'won't' talk about in this kind of public arena...in respect to those involved.

      So, that leaves me with a dilemma.....what 'can' I talk about without getting myself in trouble?! ^_^ ... I know! I woke up to some new sales in my Wuglyees shop this morning! :-) ...

       Just as I was about to complain about a 'slow-down' too! I sold three lapel pins this morning...and a necklace last night! :-) Maybe I should learn a little patience, huh?!...Don't answer that! LOL

       Let me see....what else can I talk about?!....Oh Yeah, it's not raining! :-) That's news that it's good to tell you, whether I'm not talking about other stuff or not! ^_^ ... And in related news, 'Blistex' (lip balm for chapped lips) didn't work for my fever blistered lips. O_O Instead, it was keeping my lips too moist, and they became really sore and kept re-blistering as soon as the application of the 'Blistex' wore off!..Maybe that bit of news should have been a 'NOTE TO SELF'. Oh well...it's too late now! ^_^

       Since I have nothing else to talk about, I'll leave you with some random thoughts...Why do people count sheep to go to sleep?! Wouldn't the baa-ing keep them awake?!....Oh! Maybe that's just me! LOL F.Y.I...my sheep look great in pink bows and tutus...just saying. When I can't go to sleep....neither do my sheep!! ^_^

         What do you think about the idea of yarn-bombing?!...I don't get it?!...Do they stand outside crochet around and around things or do they crochet weird shapes and then sew up the seams?! O_O Clearly this idea is over my head!

      Okay...that's all I got! ^_^ Hopefully tomorrow my brain will be back in gear and I can shift it into forward movement without running over anybody! LOL Have a good one, Y'all!

How Often Do You Check Out Your Competition?

       Crochet....crocheting....and crocheters. That's all I'm about today. That wasn't all I was about yesterday! Yesterday I was about watching the weather...BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! "THIS IS A TEST OF THE EMERGENCY BROADCASTING SYSTEM..."...That's what I was used to hearing a couple of times a week or so. No big deal.
         But not this weekend. That BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! has been followed by an urgent
recorded voice telling us that turbulent weather has been detected in the area...severe thunderstorms...lightening...atmospheric swirling, etc...and then came tornado watches and warnings, and local info telling us that we need to get to safety, be careful of flooding, etc....WOW! Scary!...So, what I've been doing the last couple of days is trying not to let that loud television 'ALERT' scare me to death!...and watching one of my resident hummingbirds in the tree near the feeder, waiting out the storm,...

          ...and crocheting,...of course! :-] 

 
        I've been working on some small flower brooches and lapel pins...

       Now, this morning, it's still kinda dark and cloudy and raining. I've been up and down all night, in pain...Ugh!...and my fingers aren't in shape for that tiny needle this morning. So....I decided to just spend some time checking out the competition...the other brooch and flower crocheters! :-) ... Those of you who create and sell your items, how often, if ever, do you do that?!...check out your competition, I mean?!
      I really shouldn't call them 'the competition', because I really don't find myself nervous or wary of them at all! I find them encouraging and inspiring. You can see what I mean in the header photo, and below...

       Now who could really call them 'the competition'?! :-) We are all clearly in our own lanes...creatively speaking. And some of them are so wonderful that I don't even wanna get anywhere near their lane. :-)) I just wanna show off their work!
        The little handmade crochet brooches that we make are so under-appreciated by people. Oh yes, people really like sticking one here and there, on their blouse, coat, hat, pocketbook, etc...but they don't appreciate what a difference they make to an outfit....or how much work went into making them!...Maybe me and my 'competition' can change that! :-)
       At any rate, making brooches and crocheted creations is getting much more attractive for us crocheters these days, with the colors that yarn is coming in!...I mean who wouldn't want a little statement piece in these colors?!...
