I Saw This And It Reminded Me That....

       Some photos that I run across touch me in ways that I can't adequately put into words. The header photo that I chose today is one of those. It's not showing very much in the way of detail, and there's hardly any color in it, but 'I Get It!' And I wanna be right there in the room....comfortably tossing from side to side. It 'looks' like what a comfortable night's sleep would 'feel' like. :-]
     When I saw this photo it reminded me that I need to call the doctor and let him know that it was a nice try, but I'm not sleeping any better now that I have the oxygen going into my C-Pap machine at night than I was before...Ugh!...Anyway!...sleep is not what I'm gonna talk about today. I'm gonna talk about mental prompting.
     I'm finding that the older I get the more 'reminders' I need to do the things I didn't need 'reminders' for before because they were second nature to me. These days without my 'check list...or rather, my 'check off list'...I don't think I'd remember to get anything done!...This is where I would be...

     And even though I have my 'check off list', sometimes it doesn't totally do the job either...because I totally forget to check it! LOL That's why I'm so glad I get mental promptings...you know, the kind like where you see a commercial on television for an upcoming show or something, and you see the kids sitting at the breakfast table eating while they're parents are singing about some new car's features...and your brain mentally prompts you. It says: "Kitchen....breakfast...car..."You're out of milk for the cereal. You need to go get some."
      I'm thankful for those...the mental promptings I mean, not the commercials. LOL Along with my check off list, without these mental promptings I don't think I would get anything done these days. Case in point...I don't have the crocheting of my sweater blanket on my check off list. I didn't think I needed a daily reminder about that...Then I saw this yesterday...

      ...and it reminded me that it's been at least two days since I've seen or touched my sweater blanket! O_O That 'mental prompting' led me back to my sweater blanket...and to this colorful rainbow blanket too...

          ...Inspiration to keep at it! :-)

      And then I saw this...

      ...flowers! :-) And it reminded me of my anniversary...because of the pretty flowers hubby gave me...but it also reminded me of my crocheted flowers, my boutonnieres. I think orange and blue would be a pretty color combination for one! :-)

     Then I saw this...

         ...and I was reminded that I haven't made a crochet necklace for the ladies in quite some time! :-) And wouldn't two crochet flowers together on a necklace be pretty?! :-) I have to put that on my 'check list' too!

      I could go on and on here, because I've been 'mentally prompted' a LOT lately...thankfully!...but I'm gonna stop...because I saw this...

     ...and it reminded me that I need to get some breakfast and get ready for my meeting this morning!...Time flies by sooooo fast!!! O_O

       Have a good day, everybody, and a good rest of the weekend. :-)

Have a good weekend!

Spend some time with your kids,
do the errands you been meaning to do,
do a little grocery shopping,
maybe make a chicken stew.

Organize your messy space,
clean the closets, throw things out,
watch a little mindless T.V.,
and replace the bathroom grout.

Take a walk around the park,
play some board games with your friends,
maybe even cut your hair
(but just a little bit, off the ends).

Take a trip to Grandma's house,
do some gardening in the yard,
give new projects a little finish,
but nothing that might be too hard.

It's the weekend, after all;
It's your week's tail, at a wag;
No need for scurry, hurry, rushing.
No! You want this time to lag!

Have You Ever Run?!!

       No, I'm not talking about the kind of running like when you ran from your mother after you did something wrong! LOL I'm talking about the kind of running where you put on running sneakers, set a course in your head, and took off on the road at a full bolt...Have you ever done that?!
       Just watching the ladies in London run has brought back my own memories. Yeah....I ran...ONCE! And once, for me, was enough! ^_^ And don't get me wrong, it wasn't 'enough' because I hated it. It was 'enough' because of what happened!...I'll tell you about it in a minute. :-)
    First let me say...in case you're new around here...I LOVE SPORTS!! And while I know that usually sports involves some kind of competition, and that sometimes it's the competition part that can make people crazy, that's not the reason why I love it. I love it mostly because of the way the endorphins you produce while you're doing it, or frankly, when you're watching somebody else do it,  makes you feel....GREAT! ^_^

      And when you're 'ME', and you're barely sleeping because of a physical issue, and you really need a distraction from your mind trying to take you down a negative road about what all of the lack of sleep and everything are trying to tell you...(but I slept a whole five hours last night though, by the way....Woohoo!!! ^_^)...and there's sports on almost every channel because of the London Olympics, you find out that you REALLY love sports!...and you're really thankful for the ability to appreciate it!

       I kinda wish that the sports itself wasn't so connected with where everybody was from though...as if you can't like certain players if they're not from 'your country' and you shouldn't root for certain athletes if they beat somebody from 'your country' in the past. I just think that's pretty silly...I mean, we're all humans with the ability, when we're healthy, to run, jump, strategize, etc...So why does the country that we happen to come from make it the most important thing to talk about when it comes to sports?! (Fully acknowledging that sometimes the country you come from is indeed a factor.)
      Aren't there players from 'your country' that you really don't like the way they play, or that you don't think are the best at whatever sport it is?! O_O Aren't there athletes from other countries that you really love?...Or that you have fallen in love with, because of the back story about how they got to where they are, or because of their work ethic or something?!...All of this is true for me...I find the customs and skill, personalities and language, of people all over the world truly fascinating!
      I won't name the players or athletes that I'm talking about...the ones I'm not that much of a fan of I mean...out of respect for the fact that while I might not like them, I still can appreciate the hard work that it takes to do what they do. I know I can't do it!...even though, in my opinion, their attitude could use some adjustment!...just saying.

      I like who I like!...wherever they're from...or not from! And I'm sure that the list of who I liked...or didn't like...would be more diverse and maybe even sometimes 'awesome' if the country that I'm from focused as much on people from other countries as they do on the people from their country. :-) ....But that's life as we know it right now. One day the world will be one big happy family, speaking one language...the language of love...But for now, when I get an opportunity to see and enjoy SPORTS....from whatever country, like the London Olympics is displaying, I fall in love with new people..and new sports..and I marvel at the possibilities of how great it could be if we all were allowed to just like who we wanted to without judgement!...Would you still like the same people then?!...Would you say so in mixed company?!^_^

      Now, about my running story...I admit that I probably could have given the running thing a bit more thought...and probably SHOULD have! But it was just such an unexpectedly beautiful day when I came outside, prepared to walk the couple of blocks over to the Post Office. So, taking off and running to the Post Office instead of walking was a spur of the moment thing.
     As I rounded the first corner I was flooded with the emotion of the fact that I was jogging for the first time in my life, and I was in awe of the fact that I wasn't out of breath...or even close to being out of breath! :-) At that moment I just knew that running would be a part of my life from then on!...Then I rounded the second corner...and my bra strap broke! LOL
    I could leave the story right there, and any of you who have a breast size above a "C" cup would totally understand! LOL But I wasn't a "C" cup. I was more like a "DD" cup!! O_O...*Gulp!*...A "DD" cup...and almost 2 blocks from home! YIKES!...Yeah, you guessed it...that was the last time I've ever run. And all of my bra straps, if they could talk, would thank me! ^_^
      I now know that running isn't for everybody! I can love and appreciate running. And my endorphins go into over-drive watching other 'less endowed' women doing it with such joy. But I know that unless my mother, the police, or some other threatening person who I haven't been able to wrestle to the ground and smother while sitting still, is chasing me.....I'm done being a runner!!! LOL
      The only running I do these days is running lines through my mind when I'm trying to develop a poem, or running my fingers through the pages of a book or some crochet pattern or the other to see what I'm gonna come up with next! ^_^ ...Speaking of which...this is what I came up with recently...

      And now...my chattering on this blog post is running on and on! LOL So I'm gonna 'strap it up'. ^_^ Have a good day, Everybody!

Sometimes

Sometimes you expect a little 'This', and you get 'That'.
Sometimes you will wave away some dust, but it's a gnat.

Sometimes it's an image in the distance that's right here.
Sometimes all the straining isn't worth the things you hear.

Sometimes you will find that 'pretty bad' has got a perk.
Sometimes a vacation is the thing that you call work.

Sometimes conversation meant to heal can go too far.
and sometimes on reflection you are happy who you are.

Sometimes poetry can be so random, and yet deep.
And sometimes it's, upon reflection, thoughts you ought to keep.

The Results Of The Sleep Study Are In...

        Three nights of chest wires, blood oxygen level monitors on my finger and up my nose, sleeplessness, anxiety, exhaustion, irritability, headaches, and just all around uncomfortableness...even in my prettiest nightie...*Thanks Hubby ^_^*...doing a sleep study to find out why I wasn't sleeping, etc...only to find out what?!...

       I'm old!!!...practically prehistoric! LOL...Big Surprise! ^_^ Ugh!...My body is just not holding up as well as I'd like it to.
      They found out that apparently when I go to sleep I'm losing oxygen...and it's worrisome enough that the doctor wants me to be on oxygen at night now, when I go to bed...*sigh*...Oh well, I'll just have to adjust that mental visual I have of an old lady.
       In my mind old ladies are the ones who have to wear oxygen masks and deal with spare oxygen tanks, plastic tubing, noisy oxygen pressure machines and hairy-browed husbands who stare at them with that "I'm sorry I can't fix it, honey" look!...That's not me, right?! O_O
       I still like to play with dolls...

...Well, one doll really. My 'Baby Wuglye Bear'. :-) ...

       I still like to dress up in girlie jewelry...

     ...and go down memory lane with anyone who'll listen, about my young girl days...when I frolicked and played outside for hours with my sisters...

I'm not gonna lie. I'm not happy one bit about this new...old lady..development. Especially because I, apparently, am the old lady now!...Ha!....Now?!...As if I didn't know I was an old lady before now! ^_^ I mean...my joints creak, ache and sing when it rains or gets humid outside.  I'm growing hair...more like a 5 O'Clock shadow some days...on my chin, and occasionally on my knees and elbows!!....Hair!....on my elbows!!...and some of it is gray!! LOL
      I find myself repeating the same thing over and over. And I can't remember anything anymore!!...Is it any wonder I woke up with airplane terms on my mind yesterday?!...

     ...Oh Yeah, my mind is out there 'in the wild blue yonder' somewhere! ^_^

     The only good thing.....yeah, you knew I'd find something good about this, right?!...is that I'm not the only old...prehistoric one in my house! ^_^

      Thanks to the other prehistoric relic in my house, I don't have to be up in the middle of the night bickering with myself about covers or snacks or the TV. LOL...and also my hairy situation is just fine in comparison to his! I mean really...hair on my elbows?... okay. But hanging like muffs and 70s afros out of my ears and nose?!...O_O Yikes!...Being an old "LADY" apparently has perks!...I'm not an old "MAN" being one of them! LOL... (Sorry old man. ^_^)

       As always, even on days when I haven't slept most of the night before....you guessed it. The anxiety, noise of the new old lady machine, or of having oxygen piped into my C-Pap machine, or whatever, made me not sleep well last night too! I was up at 1:00 a.m.!!!...and I'm still up...now it's 6:00 a.m.!!! O_O...I can still find something to be positive about! ^_^
     I'll try to get a nap...oxygen assisted...a little later...In the meantime I'm gonna keep working on the new lapel pin boutonnieres I started for the shop...

      ...I'll be listing them later today...If I focus myself the results will be good. In fact, I say...

       ...And if it's not amazing, I know where to get some oxygen! :-)) Have a good day, Everybody!

 I Used To Be Able

I used to be able to walk
without giving thought to every step.
I used to be able to exercise
with no hesitation, or lack of pep.

I used to be able to study for hours,
and my thoughts were as clear as a bell.
I could see so clearly what to underline.
(Now, if I do, I can't tell!)

I used to be able to just jump out of bed,
with my movements preceding my brain;
But now there is first, lots of thought,
then a cane-preceded by pain!

I used to be able to sleep through the night,
without flipping from left to right;
But now I wake up as 'Hot as can be',
and sweating like I've been in a fight.

I used to be able to eat what I wanted,
and my body would just burn it off;
But now, not only does it sit where it lands,
but I get indigestion and cough!

I used to be able to paint my own toes;
and stand in the shower to wash my hair;
But now I depend on people that I pay
to pretty me up-and to care.

I used to be able to dance 'heel-to-toe';
and take deep breaths to sing.
As you can see from this poem, things have changed;
Now I hum and dance, stumbling.

Its really okay that I'm not quite the same;
It just means that I've been 'round the bend'.
I've matured and grown up and got settled with it
'cause one day I'll do it all again.

My Life....In Airplane Terms

     It took everything I had to get out of bed this morning! And don't ask me where the airplane terms are coming from, but I woke up and everything I wanna talk about has some kind of airplane reference connected to it! LOL
    I was "flying high" when I woke up, after a night of real sleep!...I was in a "holding pattern" waiting for hubby to fix breakfast this morning (he's getting more creative...and taking longer to create his meals! ^_^)...Our conversation went into a "nose dive" when I tried to talk to him about that though! LOL...A little "turbulence" about breakfast is not gonna bother me today though. We've been married 30 years!!! It'll take more than chicken and cheese fingers with oatmeal to make me look for some other "pilot for my cockpit"! ^_^
    You see what I mean about the airplane terms?!...*shaking my head*...And it's not some kind of cutesy set up either! What I had planned to share with you this morning didn't have anything to do with airplanes! It's an Etsy treasury entitled Natural Cottage Chic!...

     It's a gorgeous treasury by Ilene, of Corydora. And there's not an airplane anywhere in sight! ^_^ I mean...this isn't an airplane...

    Did I "fly that in under your radar"?! LOL Probably not. You're a pretty sharp bunch! ^_^ So, just for you, I'll share a few of the other things in her treasury that I liked. Things that also are not airplanes! LOL

    Okay, now "I'm coming in for a landing"...LOL...in other words, I'm done for today! ^_^ Now I have to "take off" and get to work on some more boutonnieres to put in the shop. Those 'babies' are "flying" out of the shop like they have a tornado tied to their "tail"! :-)) ... Have a good day, Everybody! Make it "first class"!...I can't help myself. Sorry. ^_^

My Mind Went A Wandering

After barely any sleep,
and dreams I find that I am pondering,
my mind is on a journey,
skipping rocks and out a wandering.

It's acting sorta senile,
like an old lady in her nightie,
barefoot on the highway,
thinking she's all high and mighty.

I'm contemplating platypus
and belly buttons too.
All this while thinking fingernails
are not that good to chew.

It's probably not a good thing
that my head's so far from home.
Especially all uncovered,
and now clearly needing a comb.

He Gave Me 'The Sound Of Music' Again!

      If this is your first time visiting my blog I want to apologize right off the bat, because after reading this post you're gonna be sick of me talking about me!... and talking about what I did yesterday, what I made yesterday, what I sold yesterday, etc. ^_^ In other words....ME!! LOL But the good thing is that tomorrow it'll get better....I'll still be talking about me, but I'll probably be talking about me...AND YOU!! ^_^ So hang in there!
    Anyway!...I wanted to share my yesterday with you...my 30th wedding anniversary! :-) Don't start running!...I'm not gonna share EVERYTHING!!! LOL...Here are the highlights, starting with a re-post of my beautiful flowers I got when I woke up...

    I'm still looking at them this morning :-) ...and I just found out that the arrangement was actually done by a friend of mine! :-) How special!

      And speaking of special, the butterfly in the header photo, which is the front side of a beautiful handmade card...

       ...was also done by a special friend! :-) Happy Anniversary to me and hubby!...She probably just calls it a card. I call it 'art'! It will definitely not be folded up and put in a drawer!...Even the words she wrote are gonna be put in a special place...my heart. :-]

       And speaking about special words, another friend gave us this card...

       The words of the poem made me and hubby cry! (I'll share the rest of the poem below, instead of one of my poems today.)....They really did!...In case you didn't know it before, or haven't figured it out by now, we're a couple of sappy softies!!!! LOL...Don't mess with us though! We can be as tough as nails if we have to!! Grrrr!...Are you frightened?!...If not, you must know us in real life! ^_^

       In case you haven't figured it out, yesterday was our 30th wedding anniversary!! :-)

      It was a happy, happy day indeed! :-) Oh! The butter cream frosting!!!!! Sooooo good!...So good, in fact, that we only have a small piece of cake left in the house today! ^_^ No, we didn't eat all of it! We sent it to my girlfriend's house! LOL She has kids and family that I know like cake as much as we do...and it was safer at her house! LOL

       This piece (above) didn't survive! LOL...Neither did these roses!...

       Me and hubby ate them like they had broke in the house and tried to steal something!!! LOL

      Speaking of eating, I owe my girlfriend a whooping today! LOL She delivered us breakfast....I mean 'literally' delivered! She rang the bell and ran! LOL...Why do I owe her a whooping you ask?!...Because she gave us this...

       Mushroom and tomato omelettes, with hash browns and sausage! Well, my plate had sausage.....Hubby's plate had his beloved BACON!!...

       And if you see either one of us in person today, no, neither one of us are pregnant! LOL Although we may be sporting a five pound good mood right about now! ^_^ ...Truth is, I couldn't catch my girlfriend 'to' whoop her now...even if I wanted to!! LOL And I should...because this wasn't the end of the breakfast! It also came with three...count them...THREE...plates of these...

      And a large 'Dunkin Donuts' coffee for me, orange juice for hubby.....AND two donuts!!!!...and as a little chaser...I call it 'compose'! LOL...

     Fruit! :-) ... We were rolling around bumping int each other all morning...because we couldn't get up! ^_^ And guess what's for breakfast this morning?!......Leftovers! LOL

      Besides many details of things that I'm not gonna bore you with, one of the nicest things I got from hubby yesterday was the sound of music again. :-) What do I mean?!...Well, my old computer's speakers have lived their best life. I haven't been able to really enjoy my music as much lately.
        If you've been around this blog for a while, you know how much I love music! And how much I like to share it with visitors!...Me and my 'Tiggerific' friend love to crank it up and dance! :-) ...Well, I haven't really been able to enjoy it at the decibel I like to...especially for my happy dance music!...unless I've been able to search around on Youtube until I found a version that was a bit louder than the others.
      But yesterday, wrapped up in one of the packages...

    ....was music!! :-)

       No, it was not a Mercedes Benz! ^_^ In fact, it was not the kind of gift where much money was spent at all. But it's priceless because it means that my adoring husband of 30 years doesn't just want me to live this life....He wants me to enjoy this life! :-) He knew what a 'hitch in my get-along' not being able to hear my music cranked up was for me, and he decided that the best gift he could give me was a smile. :-) He gave me back the sound of music!.....and all other sounds of music too!...Thank you, Bae!!!! I love you very much too!! ♥♥♥

      Yes, there were a few other gifts we received, and a few other things we did...

     ...but not much. :-) And isn't that the stuff great anniversaries are made of?! :-] ...Okay, I'm off to wrap and ship three boutonnieres I sold last night....YIPPEE!!!...and heat up some banana pancakes! :-) Have a good day, Everybody!

For A Special Couple

They tell us that love makes the world go 'round.
But looks like the two of you also have found...

It's not just the love, but the friendship and laughter
That keep two hearts happy and close ever after.

It's working things out when the going gets tough.
Sharing your dreams and the chores and your stuff.

It's a kind of belonging that no one can fake.
It's choices and changes, it's give and it's take.

It's part "leap of faith" that began with "I do."
And lasts for a lifetime for couples like you.
