Some photos that I run across touch me in ways that I can't adequately put into words. The header photo that I chose today is one of those. It's not showing very much in the way of detail, and there's hardly any color in it, but 'I Get It!' And I wanna be right there in the room....comfortably tossing from side to side. It 'looks' like what a comfortable night's sleep would 'feel' like. :-]
When I saw this photo it reminded me that I need to call the doctor and let him know that it was a nice try, but I'm not sleeping any better now that I have the oxygen going into my C-Pap machine at night than I was before...Ugh!...Anyway!...sleep is not what I'm gonna talk about today. I'm gonna talk about mental prompting.
I'm finding that the older I get the more 'reminders' I need to do the things I didn't need 'reminders' for before because they were second nature to me. These days without my 'check list...or rather, my 'check off list'...I don't think I'd remember to get anything done!...This is where I would be...
And even though I have my 'check off list', sometimes it doesn't totally do the job either...because I totally forget to check it! LOL That's why I'm so glad I get mental promptings...you know, the kind like where you see a commercial on television for an upcoming show or something, and you see the kids sitting at the breakfast table eating while they're parents are singing about some new car's features...and your brain mentally prompts you. It says: "Kitchen....breakfast...car..."You're out of milk for the cereal. You need to go get some."
I'm thankful for those...the mental promptings I mean, not the commercials. LOL Along with my check off list, without these mental promptings I don't think I would get anything done these days. Case in point...I don't have the crocheting of my sweater blanket on my check off list. I didn't think I needed a daily reminder about that...Then I saw this yesterday...
...and it reminded me that it's been at least two days since I've seen or touched my sweater blanket! O_O That 'mental prompting' led me back to my sweater blanket...and to this colorful rainbow blanket too...
...Inspiration to keep at it! :-)
And then I saw this...
...flowers! :-) And it reminded me of my anniversary...because of the pretty flowers hubby gave me...but it also reminded me of my crocheted flowers, my boutonnieres. I think orange and blue would be a pretty color combination for one! :-)
Then I saw this...
...and I was reminded that I haven't made a crochet necklace for the ladies in quite some time! :-) And wouldn't two crochet flowers together on a necklace be pretty?! :-) I have to put that on my 'check list' too!
I could go on and on here, because I've been 'mentally prompted' a LOT lately...thankfully!...but I'm gonna stop...because I saw this...
...and it reminded me that I need to get some breakfast and get ready for my meeting this morning!...Time flies by sooooo fast!!! O_O
Have a good day, everybody, and a good rest of the weekend. :-)
Have a good weekend!
Spend some time with your kids,
do the errands you been meaning to do,
do a little grocery shopping,
maybe make a chicken stew.
Organize your messy space,
clean the closets, throw things out,
watch a little mindless T.V.,
and replace the bathroom grout.
Take a walk around the park,
play some board games with your friends,
maybe even cut your hair
(but just a little bit, off the ends).
Take a trip to Grandma's house,
do some gardening in the yard,
give new projects a little finish,
but nothing that might be too hard.
It's the weekend, after all;
It's your week's tail, at a wag;
No need for scurry, hurry, rushing.
No! You want this time to lag!

I know what you mean about photography Deb! I have a tumblr blog where I collect some incredible pics I've come across. Whenever I need some reflection, inspiration or just peace, I visit my tumblr and breathe it in!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful Sunday!
I've heard of Tumblr. From what I understand, it's sorta like Pinterest, right?!...Kinda nice to have a place to keep all of your beautiful inspirational photos! :-) ... So far my Sunday is going fine. I hope yours is too!
DeleteHello dear. I have a surprise for you on my blog...http://lazydaisycrochet.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI just saw it!! :-) Thank you so much for the award! I'll be doing the post about it soon. :-)
DeleteLove the header image too Deb!! Sorry to hear you are not sleeping. I have difficulty sleeping for different reasons and what I do know is how much lack of sleep can affect us both physically and mentally!
ReplyDeleteI also need lists or I forget to get stuff done.
Happy Belated Anniversary! Sorry I missed it! Hope it was lovely!
:)
Hi Cathy!...Yes indeed. The lack of sleep can certainly wreak havoc!! That's why I'm trying to get a handle on it. I can feel that I'm not handling things as well as I was before. I'm still hopeful that it will sort itself out though. I'll keep trying!...And thanks for the belated anniversary wishes too. :-)
DeleteDeb, I think that I'm getting that way too. I need prompting or check off lists. I hate to say it but it's age. There is nothing we can really do about it other than to hang that sign that you posted toward the end of your blog and try and read it daily.....LOL... Great poem by the way. Hugs, Velma
ReplyDeleteHi Velma...Uh Ohhhh! LOL You need mental promptings and check off lists too?!...know what that means, right?!....and welcome to the club! ^_^ And thanks for the nice words about the poem too!...Have a good rest of the weekend!
DeleteLove your blog. I do not have your problems sleeping, I have a problem staying awake. I am on chemo right now so it was expected. But my husband does not sleep at night.
ReplyDeleteI really think that we need reminders because we are so busy and our minds are sooooo full. Sounds good to me! I am 69. Are any of you near that?

Hello!...Thank you so much for the nice words about the blog...and the reminder that all of us are traveling our own physical journey. I sympathize with you having to go the chemo route, and dealing with sleep (your husband's)...or awake!...issues in a different way than mine. I marvel at the strength that must take!...and no, I'm not 69...yet! But my body sometimes feels like it! Thankfully, like YOU, I still have my mind as a co-conspirator! LOL Thanks for stopping by. I hope to hear from you again! :-)
DeleteI love those rainbow crochet blankets. Nice and colourful just how I like it :D
ReplyDeleteI love them too! I hope my sweater blanket comes out as nice!
